CH. 25

And so, he went for the Library. Until he recalled he didn't know where it was. Fortunately, the sect disciples were very friendly with each other so he was given directions without a problem. Being an inner disciple in the outer court also helped tremendously with everyone trying to butter up to him. It was funny these guys who were stronger than him fawn over him like that. Status comes with power in this world but he ended up with more status than power at the start. It turned out to be particularly worth doing.

And soon, he reached the Library. And it didn't look like one at all. It was probably the biggest building he had seen until now, even bigger than the cafeteria and the arena. It was a five-storey tower that was extremly large in the space it took. Every floor seemed to go on for eternity... As he entered, both the disciples and elders browsing around gave him weird looks. He was used to being stared at so he didn't think much of it.

He looked around the aisle, then at a map of the floor depicting where were which books but couldn't find what he was looking for. It was expected since he wasn't even sure himself what he was looking for. In the end, he walked back to the entrance where some elders were lazing behind the counters reading some heavy books with heavy expressions. As he looked at the title of the book, he internally laughed: " How to find your soulmate as a long-lived cultivator "

He knocked lightly on the desk to attract the attention of the closest elders who were reading this book. They were three reading and discussing it together. As he tapped the desk, they only faintly looked up at first, then noticing his robes, they sprang up and hurried forward: " What brought you here, inner sect little brother? "

Those three elders seemed rather young compared to some others. They looked like they were in their early thrities which contrasted a little from the other elders he met before. But then again, he recalled that there was a guy who could make himself fat just because he wanted to so who knew how old the cultivators really were? Maybe they were all pranksters who wanted to look young to trick little beauties? It was a possibility.

Fortunately, that didn't matter to Jin and he didn't give a shit. Their love lives was theirs and he had no reasons to be interested in that. Instead, he stated his purpose straight away: " I'm looking for books relating to shaping my will in my soul sea, can you respected elders point me to where to look please ? "

Obviously, being polite and humble always helped getting help from others so there were no reasons for Jin to be rude. He was a crafty old fox who knew how to get on people's good sides. How could he have lived a life of a brawler back in the days if his freeloading talents weren't up to par? He couldn't have!

That being said, even if he had been rude, considering he was an inner disciple, those outer elders would have helped to their best regardless. What Jin asked for though was a bit beyond what they could help with. They had no such books in this library. One of them told him so: " There are no such books here, little brother "

Jin couldn't help but be surprised. There probably a million books in there and none on the topic he wanted to study? How could this be? Would he really have to be stuck right there, not being able to bend fucking dots into lines of energy? That would suck. His expression was that of despair. And noticing it, fearing they had angered or displeased the young genius, the three hurried to say things at the same time. Jin understood nothing. But then, two stopped and one spoke for the trio: " Are you referring to the inner soul sea shaping of will perhaps? "

Shaping of will? Inner soul sea? It did sound like the thing he had thought of. He wasn't an expert on the topic after all, he didn't even know of it. So, maybe that was it? It was better than nothing anyways. So, he nodded. And the trio nodded back. And that was it.

So, Jin asked them: " Do you have books on that then?" and the trio shaked their heads 'no' all at once, as if coordinated. Turned out they were still as useless as before. That is until one of them said: "It is an advanced topic not taught in the outer sect, little brother. That being said, you will likely find those books in the inner sect library. Haven't you already checked there?"

And that was when it hit him. Right, there would be a better library for those of higher realms. Why did I go here and not there first? The fact that the topic was 'too advanced for the outer sect' completely unregistered in his mind. He bowed to the trio and left the outer sect library. He was going to the inner sect library now! That's where he would find his answers.

But once again, he had no idea where it was. Fortunately, while the inner sect disciples were less gentle, they were still nice enough to tell him that it was "this way" or "that way" and in the end, he found the place.

It looked very similar in design to the one in the outer court though smaller and more lavish. They were far more ornaments just about everywhere. As he entered the library, this time, he decided to go ask the elders in charge right away. He had pointlessly wasted his time beforehand trying to find things by himself.

If someone could tell him where was what he wanted, why should he search for it himself? So, he went to the counter and saw a single elder, looking like an old man with long white hair. This guy too was reading a book... he spotted the title and it read " How to find your soulmate as a long-lived cultivator "

What was this book? Maybe he would borrow a copy too...For science, obviously.
