CH 116

Hae-Hyuk decided to help Min-Su hatch the eggs after he managed to master the beast taming skill. If those two little monsters were to be hatched before he did, they might just be a pain to deal with. Restraining without injuring is always time-consuming. At least, while still eggs, they weren't a problem.

Seeing as Min-Su had nothing left to show, he turned to Jin. And Jin took out three items: A spear, a scythe and a crystal ball. Hae-Hyuk checked the spear, then the scythe and finally the crystal. Now those were rather average items. It was many times less impressive than what Min-Su got.

The spear and the scythe were grade 5 equipment. It meant they were made from grade 5 treasures. So, yes, they were valuable but they weren't too rare either. As for their properties, they weren't anything spectacular. They were your usual grade 5 treasures with five attributes.

Hae-Hyuk thought for a while. He was going to do much more for Min-Su. He couldn't just leave Jin like that without giving him something too. After a moment, he had an idea and asked Jin: "Jin, why don't you let me handle those treasures? I will use them to forge something else for you"

Jin had no knowledge about blacksmithing and while he knew that it was possible to re-forge items, he didn't know much about it. What's more, he had no idea about what those three things he picked up were and how much worth they had. Before he could even consider Hae-Hyuk's proposal, he wanted to understand what he had. So, he asked his Master to explain him.

Hae-Hyuk pointed to the spear and scythe and said: "Those are grade 5 weapons. As long as you link one of them to your soul sea, you would get the five benefits they provide. They are your usual weapons of this rank so while they are worth a lot, they aren't that impressive either. This spear is of the wind element and this scythe of the thunder element. Obviously, since you aren't yet at the tenth stage, you can't add elements to your spiritual energy so most of their functions wouldn't be useful yet"

Jin looked at the weapons with a complicated gaze. He knew that he would be able to add elements to his energy starting from the 10th stage of spiritual accumulation. He was also aware that only one soul weapon could be bound to one's soul at a time. Of course, he could still use them without the binding but their effects would be lower. To bring out their entire worth, binding was a must.

As such, it meant that if he wanted to keep them, he would need to pick an element of those two to focus on later. And he wasn't quite interested in either. Or rather, he didn't feel like picking only one. He was aware that one wasn't bound to a single element after all. He didn't want to restrain himself.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Hae-Hyuk saw the look on his face and asked him: "Are you concerned about the elements?"

Jin nodded.

Hae-Hyuk began to lecture him: "At the tenth stage of spiritual accumulation, and every tenth stage after that, you will be able to add an elemental property to your core. That much, both of you are aware. However, do you know what it really means and the benefits it brings?"

Both weren't quite certain. To be fair, they focused on learning what Hae-Hyuk told them to up till now. They only went to read a few books here and there whenever they had time or chatted with other cultivators. Their knowledge of the higher realms wasn't that impressive.

So, Hae-Hyuk continued: "It will fundamentally change your core. The element that you will pick is very important due to that fact. All your skills using this element will be improved while the skills of a counter-element will deteriorate. For example, if you picked fire, your fire spiritual skills would become stronger. But at the same time, if you end up using water skills, it will be less effective. Some people are even unable to use them at all"

Jin asked: "But isn't it possible to have more than one element?"

Hae-Hyuk nodded and answered positively: "Yes, it is. Most cultivators do so unless they belong to some particular sects with old heritage focusing on a particular path. Your previous sect, Jin, was like that. They focused on the sun element, a mix of fire and light. And just about 90% of the cultivators there are focusing on this mixed element"

This answered Jin's question but brought even more: "Why are they focusing on one element instead of more?"

Hae-Hyuk explained: "Because they can. The more elements you add to your core, the less benefits for each element. Focusing on the sun element bring about 75% bonus to light and fire element each. On the other hand, a simple sole fire element would bring around 100% bonus to it"

"But then, wouldn't it be obvious to focus on a single element?" interjected Min-Su.

Hae-Hyuk chuckled: "But what if a skill mixed both light and fire elements into it? That would be a sun element move and it wouldn't be as simple as a 75% bonus or double that. In the end, whether to focus a single element or many is a choice for all to make. There isn't a wrong answer, only a wrong use of it"

Min-Su curiously asked: "What about you, Master?"

Hae-Hyuk grinned as he told him: "A secret~ I wouldn't want to impact your decision. That being said, I will give you an advice. Pick a combined element of a maximum of three elements"

Both Min-Su and Jin looked at each other. They both had inquisitive looks. Hae-Hyuk wasn't going to impact their decisions yet wanted them to pick a combined element made from three basic ones? It was quite difficult to understand. And it wasn't a choice they could make lightly either.
