It truly is like a game.
Perhaps, one of those City or Kingdom Building Simulation Game. There were even a Mine and a Farm that could be found just outside the village- a place that he knows is being used by the Lamians as the place where they mine their metals and ores, such as gold and iron.
The Village was at Lv2. Probably because Rain had already done several new changes on it after he settled in this village, improving its state, culture, technology, and Hygiene compared to before.
Though, he was somewhat bewildered by the other numbers, and which bases does it follow.
Whether the numbers recorded were high or low, he didn’t know, but what he is certain of, however, was that apart from Military Force, the other aspects of the village are incredibly low. Well, something that cannot be helped, after all, they are just a small tribe, a demi-humans at that, living far from better civilization.
But with this system, I now had the power to improve this place better than before…
Rain also noticed that, aside from the tribe, the entire Desolate Cave, when turned into the bird’s eye view, was covered in thick fog. Some were even colored in red—perhaps, the so-called [Red Zone] or areas with great danger, apparently.
Judging from its location, Rain immediately realized that all these Red Zones seemed to be the territory of some Monster Kings or Monster Tribes such as the North, which is under Arfa, the Winged Lion King, the Ogre Lair, The Goblin’s Nest and many more.
On the upper right side of the screen was a list of icons such as buildings, resources, food and gold. Seeing this, he couldn’t help but wonder, if perhaps it could automatically build a building as well? Is what he thought, and hurriedly tried to test it out.
He pressed the building icon and felt stimulated as he saw a column of all kinds of buildings appearing, to the simplest house made of wood to tall, high rise buildings made of concrete.
Though, for some reason, most of them have been greyed out and cannot be used, especially the concrete ones that can only be seen in the modern world. Though, that’s to be expected since the culture and technology of this world have yet to even reach that stage yet. And it is even still, far from it.
To affirm that notion, a [Not Enough Level] message appeared whenever he chooses them. Nevertheless, because of this, Rain was now certain that in the future, he could build a much more, modern place for the Lamians.
Thus, his dreams for the future, even more, widened and more colorful than ever before.
His dream of building a better place for his family, is not just going to be a dream, it seems!
Well, the future can only be left to the future, and he could only focus on the present first.
Aside from most of the buildings being greyed out, there are still some buildings that had been colored and seemed to be usable with his current level, which gives him enough satisfaction for the day.
“Let’s make this first,”
Excited about the prospect of this incredible, cheat-like power, Rain chooses the simplest house as an experiment. Immediately, a translucent image of the chosen house moved. Under it was a ‘√’ and an ‘X’ mark.
It was really like a game, and he felt pleasantly surprised, and somewhat excited at the same time.
He moved the translucent image of a house with his hand on the screen, and it followed. And just like in a game, whenever there is an obstacle on the square containing the image of the house that he wanted to build, like a house, hill, trees, or rocks, the image turned red. Finally, he chooses the vacant lot next to his house. Then, he pressed the ‘√’ icon.
However, when he did, a message [Not enough Resources and Gold] appeared, and the image of the house faded and disappeared.
What happened?
Rain tilted his head wonder. Following the pointing marker, he then noticed that the resources and gold were zero. He had not noticed it before because of his excitement…so apparently, it does have a cost.
So building something needs resources and gold?
[Houses and Objects couldn’t be created out of thin air. If you want to create something, it must have the necessary gold and materials that will be used in the creation process. For building such as houses, stones, woods, craftsman and food will be consumed along with Gold (Wealth).]
The grimoire gave out a timely explanation.
“What do you mean by craftsmen? Isn’t it automatic, like those in games?” he asked, somewhat hopeful that it would be so magical. However, unfortunately, it still act in accordance to reality.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
[Craftsmen like Architect, Engineers, Masons, and such professionals needed to create something. People who have knowledge in those field is also acceptable. If not, it is required to find and recruit via in the real world, or in grimoire system. The creation of the building is indeed, almost magically and automatically produced just like in games that Master knows, and played in the original world. But the Craftsman present in Master’s village and their level could hasten the building process. For example, if building a simple hut requires an entire week, using the Grimoire Territory Building System (TBS), however, it can be done within just two to three days. And if the level and mastery of the average Craftsman are at Lv2, then it can be done even much faster. This is why; Craftsmen are vital members of society. Even in a still, small village.]
I see I think I’m starting to understand it.
Rain felt that indeed, even if it’s using a game-like system, there’s nothing as convenient as magically creating things out of thin air. Perhaps only the God of Creation could do that, or the mysterious and legendary Philosopher’s stone which was known as a magical tool that can override the law of equivalent exchange.
It still needed the use of hand. This makes things even more realistic.
Just that, through the Territory Building System of the Grimoire, it hastens everything, making it game-like in all aspects of living. Now, the only thing that bugs him, and make him somewhat curios is the process of making a building through it.
Since it would hasten the building process, would it make the craftsman who was working on it, moved in an incredible work speed? Or was it just like those in games, where one or two hammer swings, a building would be finished in no time?
That would be fun to watch, however, and would be amusing to see the Lamians reactions.
“Right, Arch, what do you mean when you said recruit via real world, or in Grimoire System? I can understand recruiting in real world, but what about the Grimoire System?”
[Recruiting via the Grimoire System lets you summon temporary workers. However, depending on the Level, the summoning will require a huge amount of Gold. The current level of the Territory Building System enables you to summon only Lv1 Craftsmen.]
“Gold…and resources, I almost forgot. How can I obtain them? Does gold come from the mines?”
[Yes, but not entirely accurate. You can also obtain Gold through the Gold Mine, However, if you do so, the amount of gold that will be collected by the people in the real world inside the mine will be reduced by the total amount you had collected. That also goes true with the woods and food you collected through the TBS. The total amount of resources that are collected from the real world would consume a portion of the total harvested amount in the real world. And this cannot be reversed.
In addition, you must be warned, as the collected resources and money can only be used through the TBS, and cannot be withdrawn to be used in the real world. Though, of course, Money and resources from the real world can be transferred into the TB System, as simple as converting them through the use of the app, to obtain more resources and wealth.]
[Of course, there are also other ways of obtaining money and resources, and that is collecting and converting materials such as monsters and magical beasts. Monster carcasses will be converted into a set of materials, which can also be withdrawn or taken out from the system and be used in the real world. You can either take out the collected materials or convert them into money to increase your funds.
But you must be warned, as when used this feature, only parts that are considered useful will be converted; such as meat, fur, bones, horns, carcasses and more, depending on the type of monster, and the excess part that is deemed useless by the system will be gone for good. This can be utilized through the storage system of the TB System.]
So with this feature, we won’t need to skin or butcher them personally. Using the app, we can easily take it apart. But the downside is that only valuable parts can be collected, and those that deemed useless would disappear. Is that even a downside?
Well, Rain didn’t know if the part that the system is deemed useless is truly useless for the Lamians as well.
Who knows, if the useless part for the system actually has some use for the Lamians. Wouldn’t that be a waste?
Well, this feature would be incredibly useful for expeditions though.
[Do you want to officially recognize the Amani Village as you territory? Yes or No?]
Without hesitation, Rain immediately chooses ‘Yes’. The purpose of this is to officially recognize as the Amani Village as his own territory, and to be able to do modifications through the Grimoire in real-time.
*Wooooosh!
When he did so, Rain suddenly felt some kind of an invisible wave that swept through the surrounding, spreading through the entire village.
This must be the power of the Grimoire.
Though I feel like I should tell Zarda about this later, and before I do anything strange, or else, they might get worried if something strange suddenly does occur.
As Rain thought about it, suddenly a notification rang out on his phone.
He turned towards the roulette-like thing at the bottom-right of the screen, which was now flashing with a large red question mark. When he opened it, a large roulette appeared in front of the screen. Every corner of the roulette has the icons of food, logs and money, varying in amount.
Under it was an inverted triangle with a caption that says;
[As a Log-in Bonus, you have one free Spin for the day!]
... and even-
[Spin the Grimoire Roulette to win epic prizes]
- even this kind of feature was also replicated by the Grimoire.
Just how far is this Grimoire trying to go?
Or is this because it has integrated itself into the Smart Phone, turning into a Game App-like system?
Shaking his head for the absurdity it created, Rain tried the free spin.
Immediately after, the roulette started spinning fast, then slow and eventually stopping. The point of the marker made the last spin and finally stops at the [Gold x100] icon.
Immediately, a notification of receiving 100 Gold appeared on the screen. Though the amount is neither big nor small, still, now he wasn’t money-less.
Another change that had occurred was that there’s another open book-like icon at the upper left corner of the screen, and it’s flashing with a bright red crimson mark.
[As a reward for officially beginning your conquest to kingship, [Mission] has been unlocked! You can now do and complete missions to win resources or epic rewards!]
[Please do your best, and conquer all!]
This Grimoire is really an exaggeration. Still, [Quest] or missions that one needs to do to obtain even more resources and wealth. As expected, there is also something like this.
Rain didn't know if he should be dazzled by this incredible power, or laugh for its absurdity. He look at the mission list, and just as he expected, he felt familiarity from it. He chuckled. He felt as if he was really playing a city simulation game.
[Build a Saw Mill]
[Build a Warehouse]
[Build a Granary]
[Collect some Wood]
[Repair Road]
But since he still has yet to have enough resources and wealth on him, he can only set it aside for now. Though, he also needed permission from Zarda, as collecting resources and gold would reduce the output that the village would be getting in reality. He wanted to ask permission for it.
There are still many things he needed to do. Despite this, Rain was somewhat excited since having the TB System would mean really obtaining an incredible cheat that could help him improve the village by leaps and bounds in a short time.
Though he was not interested in building a kingdom or an empire, if this Grimoire could help him improve the lives of everyone and give them better welfare and security, then it’s all the more reason why he was grateful for its existence.
Still, this Grimoire is really overpowered. It’s truly a wonder why that beautiful girl easily gave such a precious thing as a gift?
Giving a Legendary Item so easily, truly a bourgeois!
“What are you doing, Rain? Playing?”
As Rain was happily exploring the new and improved Smart Phone, Starl appeared beside him, watching with interest.
“Nothing,” Rain smiled at her and pulled her over his lap. His hand stroking her emerald hair gently. “Have you finished playing with the others?”
“Not yet. But what about you? Are you not playing with us?” she asked, her expression clearly hopeful for him to join them. However,
“No, sadly, I need to go back to your Elder Sisters first. I had something to tell them, very important. But we can play later,”
“Really?”
Rain pinched her cheeks and nodded. Starl giggled happily, kissed his cheek before swimming back towards her friends. He really wished for Starl and the other children to continue this kind of life.
Peaceful, and filled with fun and happiness. They need not pick up weapons or practice trying to kill someone at their young age...just playing with their friends and live happily is enough.
And he would surely make sure they will continue living like this.
Adults have the responsibility for the younger generation. This village will grow and prosper, and there would be no need for them to face a hard reality. And with the Grimoire in hand, that is not an impossible dream anymore.
Rain stood up, wrapped a long fur around his body, picked up his dirty clothes and started walking back home. Somewhat excited about all the things he could do with the Grimoire App. Though he felt somewhat sorry for Starl, the Grimoire needed absolute priority.
