Although his skills level doesn’t change much, Rain's physical attributes are growing incredibly fast, which somehow satisfied him. Still, to think that storm was enough to kill the Goblin Champion—perhaps, although the Goblin Champion had a high-level physical resistance, it actually possesses low magical resistance?

He wondered. But it was not a spontaneous, and baseless thought, as he knows that in games, there are often cases like this.

Furthermore, being able to kill the terrifying monster like this, Rain was certain that the first Goblin Champion they met at the first wave would be able to endure this kind of attack. After all, it brushed past any kind of magical attacks he and the others had used against it before.

To think it would easily be killed this way… do Monster leaders at each wave also had fixed strength and weakness?

If that’s the case, then the next wave would be much easier than before… though, the problem is still the number.

No matter how easily they can deal with the leader of the horde, being drowned with enemy numbers would still be tough. Hence, even if the leader would have a weakness, it wouldn't mean anything unless they can kill it as fast as they could, and end the wave.

As Rain fell in deep thoughts, the surge of magical power inside of him finally subsided.

However, when he did, the strong sensation of power he was feeling suddenly disappeared. It was then replaced by the sensation of extreme fatigue. His vision blurred and he felt all his strength seeping away from him at an incredible pace.

When his magic finally stops flowing inside him, his consciousness almost slips away and he fell. The wind ceases, almost immediately as well. Fortunately, Lafetti hurriedly caught him.

“Jeez, you know you still can’t use magic that smoothly,”

Lafetti scolded, but still, her face revealed a hint of excitement as she looks at him. After all, her heart filled with pride and satisfaction when she sees him becoming so strong and powerful.

There's nothing that could give her so joy looking at him rise in the summit of power. As a woman, who wouldn't want their beloved to be the strongest and greatest man there is?

“Well, I also need a lot of practice anyway…and there’s no situation better than this,” he said with a wry smile.

He slowly stood up, somewhat regaining some strength, though this seems to be the limit already for his current magic power. If he used more than this, he would once again experience the usual out of control and would do more harm than good.

Nevertheless, this is already good progress.

It seems like his training was finally making result. More so, with his [Body Refining Cultivation], his shaky foundation with his physical body had been somewhat strengthened.

Hence, it would not be like a sandcastle being hit by a wave anymore, where he would easily crumble every time he uses magic. He had used high-level magic this time, but when he used low-level ones, he should have no problem anymore. Or so he thought.

“…and besides, I can now use Magic to some extent. More training would make me get used to my power. And as long as I improved my physical body through cultivation, sooner or later, I would surely be able to use magic without any repercussions whatsoever,” he said with a grinning smile.

After the storm had passed, no Goblins standing remained in the vicinity, of course. Instead, all that had littered on the ground were corpses. Even stronger versions, Hobgoblins, and Hobgoblin elites all died, or at least some still barely alive, but incapacitated--some even, torn limb by limb. A gore sight. A hell on earth.

The hall was filled with groans and grunts. At the far end, the Goblin Champion was lying on the ground, with bloody wounds, all over it. Its right arm and legs were missing, obviously torn off by that storm. There was even a burned smell wafting in the surrounding.

Well, although it might look still be alive since Rain had already received the notification of its death, one can already ascertain that it’s already dead.

“I did this…”

Although he understands full well the destructive capability of his magic, seeing it personally is still something else.

“Hm, and well, that was quite a light show,”

Rain who has yet to completely recover, was stumbling back. Hence, Lafetti supported him to stand up. Looking at the destruction caused by Rain’s magic, she too was somewhat amazed.

“I hope I got A-s’ on my grades for that,”

“I don’t know what you are talking about, but that was seriously something.” Lafetti chuckled in response.

“Yeah, I think I might have pissed myself there,”

Granite burst in laughter.

“Anyway, are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just a bit muddlehead. It’s the first time I had cast that kind of spell, I think I just used all my mental juice for that,” he said with a wry smile, trying to lighten the mood, caused by the unexpected power of his magic. It was horrifying and very dangerous.

If not because Rain automatically repelled the storm he had created to protect him and them, they would also be swallowed by that destructive force as well.

“Then, you can rest for now—”

“I don’t think that’s a good option, though,”

Scarlet’s voice suddenly cut Lafetti’s voice.

“You gotta be kidding me,”

Granite said with a strained smile.

A few minutes after the storm ended, the debris moved, rattling as they were set aside, bursting into countless splinters. And from there, another group of Goblins and Goblins started coming out. Despite the piled-up corpses of monsters in the ground, another group was coming out. And they seemed to be not just a mere simple group.

Wasn’t this too fast? There should have been a rest period between waves. Rain's eyes widened in shock. Was he mistaken?

“…just what is going on here? This doesn’t seem to be normal anymore!”

Rain frowned as he looks at the Goblins that started appearing. Though, it’s not as fast as before, since there were only six to seven groups, consisting of 10 to 12 Goblins at each group. Even the Killer Ants are enough to wipe them out. However, once the Goblins died, there would actually be another small group that would appear. And this was what increased their worries.

“But unlike the previous waves, there is no Goblin Champion or any high ranking monster amidst them. From what I can see, they are just normal Goblins.” Scarlet said.

“Perhaps, this is harassment?”

Rain suddenly thought.

“Harassment? What does that mean?”

“It’s a usual tactic used among monster waves. Although there’s a transition period in between waves, there will be an unfair tactic using small groups of monsters to harass the players, in order to reduce their recovery period, or make them even more exhausted and fatigue before the next wave. And I think, the Dungeon is really trying to kill us. Hence it wants to weaken us further before the next wave...”

Rain grumbled with gritted teeth. Is that it? Is this Dungeon's way of protecting himself? But that's unreasonable. Is it really different from Games after all? is this Dungeon really trying to kill us?

“...Or perhaps, if we think positively, then we might be already closer to the last wave, hence this kind of nightmarish thing to occur…” he said with a helpless sigh.

If only this is that simple...

Lafetti couldn't entirely understand what he was saying. However, she still has some self-awareness to realize that their situation is far from being good. In fact, this is already a nightmare.

“Nevertheless, this would be a problem,”

How could they possibly continue fighting like this?

In their state, fatigue is already piling up. Sooner or later, they would start to weaken and get tired. Even Great Lamians like them cannot fight forever without having any break.

“Indeed. Although we can fight for a long time, without rest, our defeat would only be sooner or later matter,” Granite hissed with a frustrated expression.

“Should we turn back?” Scarlet suddenly asked.

Rain continued to work his brain while chugging a mana potion. Unlike the others, the side effect of the continuously drinking Mana Potion to him was non-existent. The poison basically disappeared once consumed due to his [Predation] ability, and will just break down into nutrients.

Rain also thought the same with Scarlet, however, if they wanted to return home, then it would just turn back from the beginning if they leave now and come back again later. He never doubts that once they leave the place, it would surely return to the beginning stage, fighting the first wave, once challenged again.

But what to do?

It would be unwise to keep on fighting, with Lafetti and the rest’s current condition.

“…op… y..ur…es….”

As Rain was about to finally made up his mind to retreat, a strange voice appeared inside his mind. It was a strange voice that he had heard a while ago, though he thought he had just imagined it. But now that it had once again appeared, it doesn’t seem to be just a delusion.

“Sylphy did you say something?” he asked, somewhat doubtful.

[No, master. Is something wrong?]

But the same answer appeared.

Rain furrowed his brows.

“I keep hearing a voice…”

[A voice is it?]

“A voice similar to yours.”

[…??]

“Rain, are you okay?”

Looking at Rain’s absent-minded expression, Lafetti asked. Rain bit his lips while thinking when suddenly his attention was grabbed by the things that she was holding, along with those piled up beside her, being gathered by the Killer Ants and brought over.

“Hm, I’m…fine, anyway, are those?”

“Yeah, the things drop by the Goblin Champion. They picked it up. As for the Goblin Champion corpse, it had already disappeared. Though, you could have used your shadow skill before it disappeared though.”

“No,”

Rain shook his head.

“I don’t think my skill will succeed in this Dungeon. After all, the creatures in this place don’t have life, in the first place. Hence, the success rate would be really low. In addition, the rebound from the trial failure is severe for the current me…the mana consumption when failed, was severe. If I exhausted myself, I would not be able to fight properly against the upcoming monster waves. Anyway, it seems like the Goblin Champion Barbares weapon also drops, though; it does look somewhat smaller…”

On Lafetti’s hand was the familiar long chain with a hook at the tip, but the chain was much smaller than what he had seen being used by the Goblin Champion.

Not long ago, this chain hook was over a dozen meters long, but now, it is so short. It also had chain’s a sized of an adult’s fist- but the one in Lafetti’s hand, looks like the size of an infant’s fist. Surely, it didn’t have any shrinking features…does it?

Rain, in his heart, valued this weapon very highly. After all, this kind of weapon might be very hard to use, but when mastered can actually be incredibly powerful. Sadly, he was not familiar with it.

“No, this should be different. Look,”

[Garatoda’s Fishing Hook Replica (Superior—Rare)—Once used by an infamous Ogre Warrior in the past, striking fear and terror on the battlefield. A chain weapon that can be used like a whip to deal damage against nearby enemies, able to be controlled easily by the mind of the user, for defending, attacking, and binding. When the target is in a distance, the user can use launch the hook connected to the tip to latch on the enemy and pull it towards the user. Available Skills: [Nine-headed Dragon Berserk] [Meat Hook]]

“…I see, so it’s a replica, huh…”

Rain said as he inspected the weapon. Replica? Then, the one that was being used by that Goblin Champion must be the real one—judging from its size and appearance, anyway.

But why a fishing hook? How in the name of everything that’s holy, was it called a fishing hook? What kind of fish is the Ogre warrior trying to catch with that kind of Fishing Hook?

Rain shook his head with a wry smile. Then, his attention turned towards the others.

“Are those things dropped by the Goblin Champion as well?”

“Yeah, some of it, along with the high-level leather. However, the others were dropped by the other monsters as well. We only took what’s better among the lot, those with higher tiers, like [Uncommon] [Rare] and [Unique]. The rest are just materials and monsters carcasses, which we wouldn’t need for now. In any case, a lot of items are scattered, and I don’t think we have the time to pick all of them up.” She said.

Though, the ones who had been gathering and picking up loots and spoils around the place were actually the remaining Killer Ants and Antmen. And in fact, they were quite diligent, still picking up those things and piling them in one corner. Rain decided to take them all inside his backpack as well, as much as he can anyway.

Since, if they are going to stay here for a while, they needed a lot of materials… and he might make use of them for it.

Rain look at the items Lafetti had picked up and couldn’t help but somewhat feel dazzled. Among the items are incredibly amazing, and high-level ones as well.

…and many more incredible items which could be said to be very useful, and precious, despite most of the grade were Common or Uncommon.

Still, the things that caught Rain’s attention the most, and in fact, placed high importance to, though, however, were the trump-sized cards containing skills.

[Skill Tomes].

Among all the treasures they got in the Dungeon, these certainly are the most important.

…and many more [Common] and [Uncommon] skills. Over-all, they actually managed to obtain 31 Skill Tomes from only the two monster waves. Although most of these skills are just Common and Uncommon Tier skills, still to think the horde would drop these many skills, it was a pleasant surprise.

Furthermore, most of them are also quite useful as well despite being the lowest tier skills.

After all, skills are skills, they are something, no matter what Grade, low or high, is something that had an incredible value enough that many people would drool over it, or covet it. Although this might be late to mention, however, there is actually a difference between Abilities and Skills.

[Abilities] are things that one born with or bestowed as a gift from the Gods or Divine. [Skills] however, are those that can be learned, or taught by someone else. And both of them are something incredibly important, especially for people in this world. The more skills you have, the stronger you are—a common saying in the Continent. Although the level dictates everything, still, it’s actually not all about it. Especially among the strongest people on the Continent.

After all, a Lv100 rabbit could never kill, or even hope to stand against a Lv1 Drake. It still the application of power that rules the day, not simply having power. And Power equates skills.

The more skills you have, the more trump cards you could display.
