V2 Chapter 22
“You see, Lafetti. I’m not what you think I am,”
Rain sighed long and slow, staring into the restless crowd of Goblins and Monsters. His expression was a mask of utter disinterest.
“…??”
“I know I'm very naïve, and foolish. I don’t even want to kill people or any creature in that matter. Since before, now, and in the future. But that doesn't mean I'm afraid to fight or kill even. When moments call for it, I will not hesitate to take arms. And when I do…I kill them all.”
His words became increasingly colder, so cold that everybody could feel the ice in his words.
Those who heard it, would surely feel as if they were being cut by the edge of a sword. That's how the intense his voice and expression at this moment was.
He raised his eyelids, and a strong murderous intention flashed in his eyes. He then exuded a strong murderous aura, and Lafetti cold all over. She stared at Rain in worry. This was something she was worried since she heard about his trait/ his unique skill, and understanding what it was.
A Monster.
His skill is something that would make even the most angelic being a true Monster. And though she tried to not think about it, but now that she fears had started to bud, she didn't know what to do.
Scarlet and Granite was also quite surprised. The Rain before them seemed to be different from the gentle boy they knew. The atmosphere has changed. The gentleness from before is gone, replaced by a wild, murderous intent.
This was the first time they had seen Rain like this. He always had a cheerful and gentle smile on his face no matter who he was with, or what kind of situation he faced. He always wears an expression of a cheerful, and gentle, but reliable boy. And he had never displayed even an ounce of disgust, much less murderous intent to anyone, even to a monster.
He just fights for survival, not clouded by hate or anger.
However, to think there would come a day when they would see him so bent on killing…
His words reeked of murderous intentions, which is completely new, and unusual. Even still, no one would ever suspect the seriousness of his threat. And even though this was the first time they had seen this kind of him, be it Lafetti, Granite, or even Scarlet, who had already been familiar with him, knew that he would surely carry out what he said, as he was not someone who would shoot arrows without any intention of hitting the target.
Nevertheless, the wild and murderous Rain in front of them felt so foreign, and unfamiliar that they somehow feel not wanting to let him stay, or even act like this.
Like a gentle rain, turning an incredibly violent, and horrifying storm. His complete behavior changed entirely, seemly have the nature of ‘obey me; you will die if you don’t’ kind of tyrant disposition. Unlike the usual, friendly and affectionate demeanor that they had gotten to love and adored, the one standing in front of them seemed as if he despised all creation under the heavens.
Like lives are no important to him anymore.
He felt so distant, so cold, so unfamiliar. The usual, cheerful and gentle Rain that washes over their drought and dried hearts is much better by a million times than this.
Rain ignored the three women’s reactions to his unusual character. After all, although he always has this amiable personality, he was not a Buddha or a merciful God, he is still a human who possesses varied emotions. And anger is one of them.
And although he rarely gets angry, when he does, he would surely make one face the consequences of angering him. Though, this is mainly attributed to the fact that there is a sleeping beast inside of him.
“Especially when I’m this pissed…” he growled, and his icy cold eyes turned somewhat pink.
How dare that fat pig lust after my Lafetti! I’m going to tear him limb by limb!
His scowling complexion was as sinister as a monster.
Rain never thinks of himself as a Saint. And although he doesn’t like killing people, nor seeing anyone suffering in front of him in that matter. However, he has his own limits. He had always been decisive. In fact, he had gone many troubles due to it in the previous world.
When he’s pissed, he could do things even he himself wouldn’t be able to imagine. Knowing this side of him, he always maintains his cool. But if one disparages the people he loved, he would do no such thing as hold back!
Dragons had reverse scales and whatever touched them would die. He might not be a Dragon, but he is no different than them, especially in protecting their treasures.
Lafetti sigh helpelssly. She was about to tell him off, not to be affected by wild emotions like anger, or hate, or it will affect his heart. However, Granite seemed to agree with him. The Rock Lamian laughed in amusement and even said.
“Oh, I completely agree with him. Remember to not show mercy against enemies, do it quick and clean. Showing mercy to enemies is the same as being cruel to yourself. And you also know that better, Lafetti. What Rain said is not wrong,”
“I know… but that is why I don’t want him fighting.”
Lafetti shook her head with a helpless sigh. She stood beside him, and ran her fingers lightly through his hair.
“People often lose important things when they do, worst losing themselves in the process. We Lamians knew that better than anyone," she said, recalling their berserk state where they could easily lose themselves, and even turn their claws and fangs at their friends and families.
"Sister Drova for one. She was quite a gentle and cheerful sister before. But when she tasted what it means to fight, and all our other sisters’ death in the hands of monsters, and humans alike, she changed. I don’t know if it’s for the better, but I don’t want you following her example, Rain. If possible, I don’t want you fighting…anyone, anything,”
"... ..."
“Though, unfortunately, I also know that would never happen.”
She let out a helpless sigh.
“Indeed… to protect you and the others, even if I changed, turn into a wicked sinner… I would do so, with an open heart.”
Rain declared.
His body emitted a beastly aura. And this if not the first time Lafetti had felt this from him, as she had already felt this kind of demonic aura that looked like a wild beast unchained.
He had sometimes released this, ever since he had awakened and gained the ability to shift into a beast. Rather, it should be said that this aura was something the beast inside of him innately possess.
Nevertheless, this beastly aura still able to affect her, in fact, somewhat intimidated her. Not coming from normal intimidation, rather, one comes from the soul.
Threia once said that this is because the one that is within Rain, was the mark of a Monster King. Because of that, the aura he could emit resembles one, and this had innate oppression to other creatures, including them. Although not as potent and powerful as a true Monster King, it still possesses quite a fearful might of intimidation.
Although Lafetti felt that what she said might be right, but is that all there is to it?
That the aura he was releasing came from the mark?
Lafetti somewhat felt that it might not completely be so…
There is something within Rain that also emits such a powerful spirit, that boosted this aura.

Looking at him when he spoke those words, she noticed that his glare slowly became like a sharp sword or a keen knife… he was looking ahead, those his eyes seemed to see through what’s in front of him, as his gaze seemed to reeks of viciousness. This makes her extremely worried.
Seemingly noticing her concern, Rain turned at her. With a smile, the eerie emotion in his expression, disappeared as his gaze slowly turned back to normal. He continued in an unhurried manner.
“However, that will be unlikely. No matter what happens, I will stay the same that is something I can promise that would never break. Persistence, is one of my redeeming features, after all,” he said with a peculiar sly smile on his face.
Are you certain, Rain?
Lafetti couldn’t help but ask inwardly. But she didn’t dare let it out and said, “…I can only hope so…” she smiled wryly. “Though no matter what you become, do never forget, I will always be here,”
Rain’s lips curved upwards, his expression softening.
“Well, that is something I already know... a long time ago.”
“Rain …”
“You will always have my back…that is why; I can fight no matter what kind of situation I find myself in!”
An explosive noise like the ground is breaking apart sounded from under his feet.
Rain jumped up high, clenched his fist, and hit the ground at the center of a rusting group of monsters. The impact forced the ground to break, and overflow.
A cave-in occurred, and the shock wave that had manifest upon the attack sent the surrounding monsters flying in every direction.
“…let’s fight with all we’ve got, but don’t overdo things. We still don’t know what this Dungeon plans for us. And besides, perhaps there would be another wave as well after this! Save your strength as well as potions as much as possible!”
“…I understand!”
“…let’s get ready for round two…”
… …
"Too slow!"
*Kra*.
The sound of the ground cracking from his steps. Prior to the release of the magical attacks of the Goblin Mages, Rain dashed into the group of monsters.
Possessing superhuman reaction, nerves, and muscles, his sprint was already at a speed barely detectable by human eyes. At the same time, the darkness seemed to have taken a life, and congealed together in front of the group of Goblins, spreading spread the shape of a fan, with the possible intention of protecting them.
...... A dark-type defensive barrier?
Clenching his magic-filled fist, which was made possible with his accumulated enhancement-type skills, he slammed it into the black barrier created by a Goblin Mage - however, his fist was repelled away.
It seems like the Goblin mage who had cast this spell was quite strong. Cracking noise appeared and the black barrier starting to let out cracks on its surface.
"Stop hindering me—!"
Rain let out a roar while riding on his unstoppable momentum. He forced his repelled fist back and broke the dark barrier. The fist blew away the Goblin standing behind the barrier as well and hit straight into the Goblins standing behind it, until the end, creating a straight line of destruction.
The Goblins gave a painful cry before they flew away like broken kites against a violent wind.
“Goborohbo…..!?”
Boom!!
Following the impacts that struck twice and thrice more, the sounds of explosions echoed around the entire Mausoleum. That impact was swifter than the winds of a storm and heavier than that of a charging bull.
As he took a deep breath, Rain concentrated his attention on the combat. When he saw the monsters surrounding him, he became once again aware of the fact this battle would, unfortunately, be extremely hard to win, perhaps even harder than the first round.
The Goblins, unlike before, looked much better, in terms of equipment and strength.
Fortunately, his power too had been strengthened with the rewards from the first battle. If not, he would surely find himself, in deep trouble.
Still, the round two would perhaps be even more desperate than the one before?
However, until the last moment, Rain was resolute to never declare the words of giving up.
Holding the hilt of his Rapier in his right hand, clenched his left, which was now turning into a sharp claw, he took a little step forward with his left foot, maintaining his feet close to each other, lowering his waist and started to jump.
Full of resolution and perseverance, he gazed upon the rushing Goblins as he completed this jumping motion.
At this time, his combat skills and his strong mental capacity were undoubtedly manifesting. He didn’t utilize any magical energy, completely relying on the power of his body to jump to a height of 100 meters, landing at the center of a large group, and clash against the murderous monster horde.
Wielding his rapier with a single hand, he engaged the incoming horde, with as fierce killing intent as the Horde.
His sword-swinging speed naturally increased with his increased physical attributes, as if he was holding was nothing but a thin, piece of twig- his attack was obviously much more ferocious and tyrannical as before.
Each one of his swings was huge and wide, and his thrust was like lightning bolt, bringing about the whistling of the wind as the sword tore through the air, causing the death of the Goblins one after another before they could even approach him.
The area where he was standing, was immediately covered in the flashes of a blade, limbs littered the ground.
Using the sword drawing art he had practiced along Lafetti, his sword looked like it never left its sheet, yet many unsuspecting Goblins would be suddenly left with a hole in their foreheads, throats or chests.
Rain didn’t want to be entangled with these small fries, so instead of taking the blows head-on, he would dodge their attacks and quickly moved to their sides. In an instant, his sword sliced pierced the necks of three or more unsuspecting Goblins, creating flashes of azure light. And every time as the azure light disappeared, the two or more Goblins would become rigid as the light in their eyes slowly faded away.
From their necks, a slow trickle of blood started to flow out for everyone to see. In the next instant, the blood suddenly began to surge out from their wounds as the bodies slowly toppled to the ground. Then, without slowing down, he would sweep past the dead bodies and charge at the hindmost Goblin Archers and Mages in the blink of an eye; these were the weakest of the group but also the most annoying. And thus were his first priority targets.
Although they were the weakest, they are also one of the most troublesome opponents in this kind of situation—
Using [Blink], he immediately flickered behind the group. His Rapier flashed as Goblins continued to fall to his blade.
The Goblins and even strengthened elites were unable to do anything against such a fast attack. Since they were unable to react at all, there was no way they could possibly resist.
In the time it took to take a breath, the Goblin Archers and Mages that was trying to kill him from afar, had died by his fast sword. Still, even after killing quite a large number of them, Rain didn’t pause at all. He turned towards the other groups and continued his slaughter.
The Piercing Rain became a flash of azure lightning as he swung out at the surrounding monsters.
Booom! Bang!! Boom! Baang! Booooom!
Suddenly, at this moment, a series of explosions rang out and the entire area was littered with countless debris and breakage. Then, it was followed by a piercing cry—
Rain turned towards the direction and saw the Goblin Champion letting out a painful cry as Granite hit it with her new weapon [Titan’s Wreckage].
One hit, and it was sent crashing against the wall. Even though the new Goblin Champion was obviously much stronger than the previous, but Granite was still overpowering it, like a lot.
She was even fighting it alone, and yet still able to come up top. Although Granite’s physical attributes hadn’t changed much, with the addition of [Titan’s Wreckage], she's like a tiger had finally given wings.
Now, I can see why that Goblin Champion was too much to deal with, and why it was so strong…!
The enhancement of that [Titan’s Wreckage] was something even I’m started to envy.
Nevertheless, Rain knows better not to eat more than he can chew.
[Titan’s Wreckage] that seemingly cursed-stuff is not something he certainly wanted to touch, not like Lafetti and the others would allow it.
A really strong artifact tends to have a mind of its own. They could even house such thing s as the grudges or obsessions of their creators. And if not qualified, would surely be taken over by the murderous intention, or negative energy of that said weapon. Therefore, Lafetti and the others would surely not allow him to possess such a thing.
Just like this, Rain and the others kept fighting and fighting and fighting.
They had killed monster enough to have already piled up into a tall mountain. If not for the fact that corpses disappear after a few minutes, turning into countless shards of light and disappeared, the entire place would certainly have been covered with mountains of corpses. Despite that, rather than reducing the number, just like before, it’s as if as long as the Goblin Champion was not killed, the monsters will still keep coming and coming, almost endlessly.
But even with Granite overwhelming the Goblin Champion, it doesn’t mean she can easily kill it.
This time, it seems like the Goblin Champion went into toughness rather than strength. Perhaps, its because of the result of the previous Goblin Champion. The Dungeon wanted for its minion to last, or probably withered their strength and exhausted them.
The Goblin Champion's fat body seemed like a soft but extremely tough armor, and Granite’s attack damage was reduced significantly despite being able to hit the monster continuously. Even the incredibly strong [Titan’s Wreckage] seemed to have its power reduced whenever it rammed against the monster’s body.
Rain can even see the swayed of its fat belly, like ripples in the surface of the water every time it hit.
He was now certain that the monster’s [Physical Resistance] was abnormally high.
Furthermore, the way it used its long, thick chains was incredibly skillful, the chain basically looks like a living snake, as it swayed in the air. And its long reach and uncanny movement made it even harder for Granite and Lafetti to directly attack it, with all the little Goblins rushing towards them like suicidal maniacs.
And here I thought, the first Goblin Champion was already abnormally powerful. But to think this Goblin Champion was even more troublesome.
Rain’s expression darkened. This could be bad if it turns into a battle of stamina.
If this goes on, they would not be able to hold on their own and would be forced to retreat.
Just what kind of Dungeon is this?
Is the Dungeon really thinking of killing them?
