V2 Chapter 28

With a blurring speed of his hands, tens of magic arrows shot out. A rain of arrow from the air, while a field of sharp spikes on the ground. Countless Goblins whimpered and screamed.

When Rain turned towards Lafetti’s direction again, he saw her charged, her sword tearing through the air in a surprise attack. Numerous Goblins encircled her, yet she didn’t even display any hint of fear.

Swinging her sword, and moving at incredible speed, she continued her massacre. Her long tail sweep across like a fine, deadly whip, along with it was her, swirling with smooth grace in an endless flowing of limbs and swirling emerald hair.

God, she was truly beautiful.

Rain smiled wryly, feeling somewhat mesmerized.

Not far away from her, Granite was also withstanding the attacks of the surrounding monsters. She slams her weapon on the ground, invoking her earthquake-like ability, stunning countless of them, and then, like a raging war god, brandished her weapon furiously.

[Lightning Bolt] [Blaze] [Bone Spikes] and all his offensive-type skills were shot without any hesitation. At the same time, as the group fought courageously, Rain also kept on shooting enchanted arrows and magic, all while casting support skills at them such as; [Support Defense], [Support Attacks], [Recovery], [Added Fire Damage Skill], [Added Lightning Damage Skill], [Amplify Skill] and others, all to enhanced the killing rate of the group. Then, with a blaze, his hands began to glow with crackling fire energy which he flung forwards.

An area exploded into flames, frying large groups of monsters. It was then followed by exploded mines scattered in the ground randomly, but still able to kill numerous enemies in one fell swoop. Then, if the others received even the hint of injury, recovery magic was then cast on them immediately, before returning to shooting his arrows, magic, and skills.

With [Multi-shot], [Ricochet Shot], [Piercing Arrow], he made sure that Lafetti and the others would not be drowned by the flood of enemies as they fought, becoming an extremely important battlefield controller.

“Support Attacks!”

While fighting, Lafetti, Granite, Scarlet, and even the Ant General who were already killing with a single strike as well as the other Killer Ants and Antmen suddenly obtained a 10% buff to all their attributes, especially their strength and speed. It was then followed with [Support Defense], a translucent golden light that started appearing around their bodies, blocking the attacks from the surrounding enemies.

“Granite! Don’t go too far, come back! You’ll be surrounded—in your right, there’s a group sneaking up on you. First, take them down, start with the magic users, then the group in front.”

“Lafetti! Clear the side, and don’t let them passed you! If possible, kill the Goblin Riders first!”

“Scarlet, come back! I will transfer magic to you; you’re better at flame magic, shoot a large one after I give you a signal!

…before anyone could realize, Rain had started giving out precise orders as they fight. And neither one of them disobeyed, in fact, they followed every word he said as if it was natural.

Lightning, Gale, and Flames burst out from every corner of the battlefield as they slaughtered the goblin horde.

As expected of my Rain!

Lafetti couldn’t help sighing. Although the enhancement and support Rain was making was limited, but nevertheless, it was turning the tide of the battle, even without Scarlet's magic bombardment.

His judgment and timing were impeccable, it’s as if he was already planning everything beforehand. All the pressure they had expected to come had successfully been elevated by a lot, making them able to completely display their abilities to the fullest.

She had noticed this before, but Rain can be a good leader. Lamians were used to fighting directly and mowing everything in front of them during battles, and although there were tactics and plans that were laded beforehand, there has never been this kind of battle fought.

In fact, this way of fighting was the first for her, Scarlet and even Granite. They had already used to doing everything they can by themselves, rampaging on a battlefield without any thoughts. But with someone standing behind them, everything seemed to become even easier.

It’s as they were enveloped by a comforting a sense of security that they could go all out, and fight to their heart's content without worrying anything.

A strange kind of feeling that seemed familiar, yet unfamiliar at the same time.

While fighting, her attention never strays away from Rain. And she saw him advancing to attack and retreating to guard, smoothly switching between the two. He was like a devil incarnate, and ghost at the same time, killing all over the place. His magic and arrows are so accurate they look as if the projectiles themselves were living being that chased their targets until they hit. It would probably be very difficult to dodge those attacks…

In this sudden, unexpected Dungeon exploration of theirs, Lafetti had truly witnessed how monstrous Rain could be when fights to the death.

I never noticed this before… but Rain had truly grown up… so fast, I fear I would be left behind…

Lafetti was happy from his growth. But at the same time, she too was feeling somewhat scared. His growth was too fast, he would surely pass her before she knows it. Would he still stay with her on that day?

Although Lafetti had already decided to believe in Rain, such worries still can’t help but appear inside her mind.

… …

Rain swapped between magic, arrows, and melee like the wind, almost making anyone dizzy watching it.

When monsters finally came close to him, he would immediately enhance his speed and agility, and then, like a ghost, appearing to attack madly, killing and immobilizing most, and then immediately disappearing again. He would then give orders while simultaneously healing everyone, and applying enhancements and support skills at the opportune moments.

“How can there be so many Goblins?”

Nevertheless, he knows he was just delaying the inevitable. Even if he had an enormous magic power, it would not change anything.

He might not be physically be exhausted with his recovery-type skills, especially the skill [Death is my Domain] that empowered him from all this death. However, there’s more than one type of exhaustion. He would not be able to fight mentally for long…sooner or later, he would be exhausted from mental fatigue first!

Wait…mentally…?

Rain’s brows furrowed.

Something about that world seemed to strike him. However, as he tried to think deeper about it, his mind blanked out for a moment, as if something is trying to stop him from thinking deeper. When he finally snapped out of it, he already found himself surrounded by monsters.

Because of that, Rain can only stop thinking about it for the time being. His left hand thrust to his left, and he grabbed an arrow shot from the shadows. The arrowhead was only a few inches away from his throat. Frowning, he twirled the shaft of the arrow, and then knocked it on his bow, shooting it in an off-hand manner.

A muffled scream came from where the arrow disappeared. He had shot the hidden enemy Goblin Archer, which skills were surely much better than normal Goblins. The accuracy and speed of that arrow are incredible…

Rain jumped back, trying to gain distance. However, when he raised his head, he saw above him were already covered in countless arrows, spears, and Javelins. There was also even simple magic like fireballs, and water ball mixed in. It had covered a large area, and he would be showered by it like a violent squall. Still, he might not be able to do anything against the magic, but the arrows and other projectiles, he could.

“Breeze!!”

A calm wind whirled around Rain as he dodged the incoming attacks. It had little effect on the javelins and spears due to their weight, but nevertheless, it caused their aims to redirect at the side. As for most of the projectiles, all were arrows immediately swirled around him, making all arrows fall to the ground, losing their momentum.

As I thought, although the [Breeze] skill seemed to be useless, as it can only summon a light breeze around you, typically only good for cooling you down in hellish summer. Nevertheless, if used correctly, it can also be a good defense skill. Especially against arrows.

Just by disturbing the wind, arrows and other projectiles can be nullified.

Rain started grabbing arrows around him, those that had fallen on the ground, and nocked them between each of four fingers and released them, skewering four enemies through the face at almost the same time. They fell, motionless.

This is one of the advantages of being on a battlefield. Ammunitions, weapons and whatever can all be found almost everywhere. Because of this, Rain felt not needing to waste any more magic power just to conjure arrows—and with multi-shot, he looks like Hawk-Eye or Robin Hood in Legends as he rained the enemies with volleys of attacks.

“You really are a man without convention.”

From who knows when Lafetti had already appeared once again beside him. She looked at him impressed as she spoke with admiration.

“To hear I lack convention from you is a bit unsatisfying.”

“Don't worry, it was a compliment.”

A spear was suddenly thrust from the right and left toward Lafetti. However, as if she had eyes on the back of her head, she skillfully avoided them. She then raised her sword, and, with two quick flashes, blood flew from two necks of the enemies. Her beautiful emerald hair waved in the wind. Every time the green flash glittered, a fountain of fresh blood from the enemy was created.

She fought amongst the enemy ranks as if taking a walk, dodging attacks and cutting enemies into pieces all around her. Brilliantly poised in each and every move she made, her sword moved through the wind as if dancing. That’s my girl, Rain grinned wryly, somewhat impressed.

“I can't lose here.”

While thinking that, he drew his bow to the limit and struck the head of another Goblin riding a Bone Eater. Continued to provide support, healing all while shooting arrows and magic, Rain was also observing everyone’s fight. Fighting with them, he truly felt their valiance. He could only smile wryly as he sensed the unstoppable might of Granite’s charge.

That large weapon smashed down, bringing about the sound of cracking bones. She then waved her enormous spike-filled club, causing bursts of blood and smashed bodies. Another silhouette leaped over. A blazing fire spear performed 3 rapid attacks, piercing and burning everything it comes in contact with. The Ant General didn’t lose against the others in killing momentum.

From the other side, Scarlet, along with the other remaining Killer Ants and Antmen, leap out and their weapons, blazing an arc light-like meteor in the dark night. Then, she looked at the countless Goblins rushing at her from every direction, and grits her teeth.

A fire erupted from her delicate hand, and hellfire burned atop her. It turned into a rotating ring of fire and shot out, burning and killing everything. Looking at the burning Goblins, she reached out and grasped the air! Burst! They all exploded!

As the group fights courageously despite the nightmarish odds, the situations suddenly turn even graver. While trying to save his magic power as much as he could, all while supporting the others, fatigue clearly is seen not only on his face, but more so on the girls from the unending carnage, suddenly, Rain felt the temperature on the place rose up, and she turned towards Scarlet. However, although Scarlet was using flame-type skills, with how limited and small its range, it should not have been able to affect the temperature this much. So why…?

Rain felt something wrong and felt something above them. He raised his head and look above. His eyes widened in shock, and a bad premonition surge through his spine.

Raining from above were meter and two meters sized fireballs, counting more than a dozen, rapidly descending on them like freaking nukes. Rain didn’t have enough time to properly react when one of the fireballs quickly descended not so far away from him and then exploding like a bomb. Being caught off-guard, Rain was blown away by the shockwave.

“Kyaaa!!!”

“Damn it!! The hell is happening?!”

“An enemy mage?!”

Repeated explosions were heard as the scattered Goblins exploded into pieces, while others caught fire and bodies thrown high into the air. Scarlet who was much closer to Rain’s location where he was sent flying hurriedly dived into her, grabbed his head and dove down into the pile of dead bodies.

Even so, it was nothing short of a miracle that the sudden fireball bombardment did not tear their bodies in half. Though, at this moment, Scarlet’s entire body had already covered with red crimson armor, so the defense skyrocketed, but the sounds of explosions still make an impression of it destroying everything.

Granite holed herself up behind her shield, while Lafetti hurriedly conjured a water barrier. Both of them were rushing towards Rain’s direction, but the constant explosions obstruct their run.

“Where the hell is these coming from?!”

Lafetti gnashed her teeth and cried out in anger. The constant bombardment didn’t care for allies or foes, as they repeatedly tried to decimate everything.

“Damn it! Where is Rain?!”

“I’m here! Lafetti, Granite, let’s gather together! A Goblin Leader must have appeared!”

Rain shouted so loud he thought it would tear apart his throat in order to keep the explosions from drowning him out.

“Tsk! Now at all times! It must have been a Goblin Mage!” Scarlet scowled angrily.

“Scarlet, are you okay?” Rain turned towards Scarlet who was hugging him tightly.

“Ah, as long as it’s not a direct hit. There’s nothing to worry about.” Scarlet said with a gentle voice. However, since she was wearing her entire armor including her helmet that almost looks like that of a giant ant’s head, Rain couldn’t see her expression clearly.

At this moment, she looked like a giant ant, rather than a humanoid Ant Queen.

Well, that doesn’t affect his respect for her, though. Rain accepted her protection and burrowed deeper into her hug, causing Scarlet’s expression from behind the mask to become even more gentle. In fact, this should be the first time he had seen this appearance of her.

Although she understands that Rain wouldn’t have anything against her, even if she shows this kind of form, but there is still a part of her that didn’t want him to see it.

In this full form of hers, she was no different from a normal Killer Ant in appearance. To a human, in fact, this form breeds more horror than a normal Killer Ant. Even the kindest and most accepting man would also show some hint of aversion. Hence, although she uses her armor, she never did the full form in front of him. But since the situation desperately calls for it, she had done it.

But to think that Rain would not even care about it, and even snuggle against her like it was natural, her heart was almost jumping out of her chest.

He's warm…

Scarlet bit her lip and her expression flushed red. Despite her wearing a full red metallic-like armor, it’s actually still a part of her body, so in reality, Rain seemed to be hugging her naked, bare body directly.

Although Rain didn’t notice it, Scarlet, feeling his body warmth, somewhat excited her.

Ah, if only time would stop…
