V2 Chapter 17
The time that seemed to have stopped between them had once again started moving. And the noise of the battlefield, along with a series of explosions, cries and screams once again reached their ears.
Turning towards Granite and Scarlet's direction, they saw that the Lamian and the Ant Queen had already re-engaged with the Goblin Champion, fighting a fierce battle. Granite taking the offense, while Scarlet for support.
However, although both of them were being somewhat pushed back, but looking at the battle closely, one would surely notice that the Goblin Champion seemed to have been weakened considerably, perhaps gaining heavy wounds after being thrashed around by the berserk Lafetti as it was obviously having a hard time fighting both Granite and Scarlet, despite its display of superiority just a while ago. In fact, although being pushed back, Granite was slowly gaining momentum as well, turning the tide of the battle.
“We could really use some help right now if you don’t mind?”
Scarlet cried out in anxiety. Then, extending her hands, a flame burst appeared, knocking the enormous boss, causing it to become outbalance. Taking advantage of this moment, Granite whipped her rock-covered tail, using [Tail Whip], knocking the monster away, and causing it to crash against the wall. This moment gives Granite and Scarlet a moment to breathe.
“I think you’re doing just fine, though,”
Lafetti said with a hint of amusement as she watched the two fights.
“Please don’t joke around anymore, and let’s finish this fight immediately. Can’t you see that the number of Goblins once again starting to rise? If the Goblin would indeed stop appearing after killing the Goblin Champion, then we must do it as soon as possible! The more we delay here, the more unfavorable the situation for us would be.” Scarlet said with a serious, but angrier expression.
The Lamians would not care about fighting, as they can be said to be a race born for fighting. Therefore, they would not really care if the fight continues a bit longer since they already know that the Goblin Champion’s defeat is already at hand.
However, for the Ant Queen who dislikes doing troublesome things, especially fighting, the more the situation continues, the more worried she becomes… what if something goes wrong? Worries like this appeared in her mind. Though, the main reason, of course, is the fact that the Ant Queen wanted to take a break and rest, if possible, return home as soon as possible.
Lafetti just shrugged her shoulders in response, but Rain somewhat agrees with Scarlet’s words, and he nodded his head.
“Indeed, let’s stop messing around, and finish this fight already. We don’t know what this Dungeon would do the next moment, it’s better to be on the safe side.”
“Well, indeed, I am with Rain… let’s end this fight.” Lafetti nodded her head with a serious expression.
“Wait, why is your attitude so different from when you’re talking to me?”
“It’s just your imagination~”
“Bastard!!”
“Okay, that’s enough. Let’s concentrate, shall we,” Rain immediately raised a hand making them stop. He continued to speak with his charming smile, “Scarlet, try to stop the Goblins around us, and block them from helping the boss. It would surely complicate things if they join in the middle, disturbing the fight.”
“Okay,”
“Lafetti, and Granite, you both be the attacker. Try to kill the Goblin Champion as soon as possible. No more playing around this time…as for me, I’ll stick around, and do as I see fit. In any case, it would be difficult for me to make a difference against the boss, anyway. I’ll try to support you as much as I can,”
“That’s more than enough!” Granite grinned.
“That’s right. You had your fun with him, now it’s our turn,”
Lafetti agreed without hesitation. After all, it would foolish to still let Rain fight against that monster; Lafetti would never allow that to happen.
Seeing the Goblin Champion recovering, Lafetti immediately conjured a Water Serpent, though unlike in her crazed state, she was only able to conjure up to two Water Serpents, instead of eight, displaying that her enhanced berserk state from before had obviously disappeared.
In fact, she was actually weakened because of that berserk condition—normally she could summon up to three water Serpents. But it seems like the Berserk state she had just a while ago, had sapped almost all of her strength—clearly the side effects of forcibly awakening her blood.
After launching the Water Serpent towards the monster, Lafetti immediately rushed towards it as well. Seeing Lafetti’s attack as a signal, Granite also shouted, and performed a Shield Bash, carrying her beloved tower shield in front of her.
The Goblin Champion smacked one of the Water Serpent with its weapon, while evaded the other with its incredible speed that overwhelmed Rain a while ago, which is completely unexpected with its build.
However, seeing Lafetti’s charge once again, the monster recognized her with the berserking Lamian a while ago, and let out a ground-shaking roar before breathing out a blinding jet of fire.
It seems like it had recognized Lafetti as the berserking Lamian that had trashed it around just a few minutes as ago since its expression more solemn than usual, and its glare much fiercer, full of hate and anger.
But still, it can even do that?! Rain and Granite widened their eyes in surprise. A fire-breathing Goblin?! What the hell is wrong with this monster?
Lafetti was also surprised and she reflexively stops her charge and cross her arms in front of her, blocking the incoming fire. She felt burned in her arms but she was still able to endure it.
However, the monster seized this chance and swung its huge weapon; the spike-filled club.
Seeing this, Lafetti let out a roar as well, and instead of retreating, she raised her sword, blocking the incoming attack.
As if she would retreat, this bastard monster was the one who had hurt Rain!!
I still haven’t paid that debt back completely!!
Baaang!
Lafetti felt blood surging through her throat, and she felt an impact across her whole body, that seemed to have almost separated her soul from her, as the shock wave hit her. Now that she had calmed down her mind, and is now conscious, she now fully felt the pain from fighting the Goblin Champion.
She had not cared about it before, due to the anger that boiled around her when she was in berserk mode, erasing all the pain that comes into her in full power. But now that her mind was as clear as spring water, she fully felt the impact of its attacks. She even felt her internal organs shook, and all the bones of her body creaked in pain.
Stolen novel; please report.
“Gaah!?” now she understands completely why, Granite was having a hard time.
The weapon the monster is using is a very high-level artifact!
It’s perhaps even comparable to her beloved sword; [Gentle Wave], a unique grade Artifact!
And from what Lafetti could see, the monster’s evolution was influenced by the weapon, hence, its abnormality.
This is not just a mere false being made by the Dungeon. It’s a unique existence. Perhaps it was able to become like that after getting hold of it. But how could a monster like this possibly possess an incredible weapon like this?!
This kind of weapon should be as rare as unicorn's horns or phoenix feathers even in this world. To think a lowly Goblin would obtain it!
This Dungeon, could it be that it's still an unexplored Dungeon, one that had not been visited or conquered ever since the Lost Century?
If that's the case, then this Dungeon should hold incredible high-grade items and weapons from the Lost Age. In fact, perhaps those exalted, and precious items and objects might even be scattered carelessly in this Dungeon.
Despite the pain that had struck her, Lafetti still didn’t step back and with a sway of her waist, her bristly tail whipped towards it.
“I wouldn’t be able to hold these monsters for long!! Kill it faster!”
Scarlet’s panic voice rang out from behind them. At this moment, she was also getting pushed back and more and more Goblins started to pass her guard, and her flame barrier was also at the point of breaking. It can even be said that the barrier will only last for a few minutes only.
For some unknown reasons, more and more Goblins appeared in thin air, like magic. As Magic gathered in one place, it would then become a Goblin who was more ferocious than the previous.
Large beads of sweat covered her forehead, as she was getting pushed back, having a hard time, due to her magic power being depleted at an incredible speed. She was now only reduced to fireballs and melee combat with just her bare hands. Though, her arms are now covered with a thick, crimson dyed carapace that looked like a gauntlet.
The Ant Queen fought barehanded. Although she mostly uses magic in her battles, as a long-range attacker, still, one still can’t forget the fact that she was the glorious Ant Queen, with three evolution. Her base power was more than normal Killer Ants. And with an added boost of being a Blessing Holder, her original base stats were higher than even strengthened ones, and hence, she was far stronger than any normal monsters, much less a Goblin and a Goblin Elites.
Her strength and toughness were even comparable to that of Granite. Her arms now covered by beautiful, ruby-like scales were blazing in extra hot flames. She looked as if she was wearing a beautiful crimson armor as her entire body was covered by red crimson scales. She torn apart monsters with bare hands, and even burn them with flames. Still, despite being so powerful, she was still being pushed back, and now she was almost at the place where Rain and the others were fighting.
The Goblins keep coming as if they were endless, as if cheating, one can even see as they spawned in an empty place.
Rain and the others also felt the urgency of their battle. But the Goblin Champion is just too strong. No, rather too tough. As sparks flew off the two weapons, the monster’s weapon hit the floor only a few centimeters away from Lafetti. It dug a huge hole into the ground with an explosion-like sound effect. At the last moment, Lafetti was able to expertly slant her sword, enabling her to reduce the force of the attack.
“You bastard—you’re dead meat!!”
Lafetti cried out in anger, as she felt the pain coursing through her body. The Goblin Champion roared and then raised its weapon high up into the air.
“This is getting troublesome!”
When the Goblin Champion was about to slash down his weapon again, Granite appeared in front of Lafetti, and block the attack with her shield. This time, with her recovered magic power, she was able to easily stop the Goblin’s attack.
But I like it!”
HA HA HA HA!!
Granite let out a burst of crazy laughter, as she pushed the shield forward.
Her sudden burst of strength startled the monster. She then followed it with her battle axe, hacking the Goblin Champion violently.
When Granite finished her attack, Lafetti appeared beside her, while Rain was at the opposite of her. They both charged in at the same time. When the Goblin Champion saw them charging, it let out a roar, and hurriedly swept its arms towards them.
But suddenly, at this time, a golden light flashed between Granite and Lafetti, and two exquisite throwing knives suddenly appeared before the Goblin Champion. One of them struck its throat, and the other pierced through its chest.
This sudden unexpected attack stopped the Goblin Champion’s intending attack, as it couldn’t help but cried out from the sudden pain. Lafetti glanced back, and saw Rain holding out another knife in his hand, and smiled faintly.
As expected of my Rain!
Another throwing knife appeared.
It had reached the Goblin Champion’s eyes in the blink of an eye!
However, this time, the Goblin Champion was much more vigilant, and let out a roar in anger. It then raised its hand to obstruct the knife. The knife struck his hand, penetrated deep into the flesh of his hand.
The Goblin Champion’s eyes flashed an expression of bewilderment and humiliation. It was the Great Goblin Champion Gragro of the Steel Club. Its physical strength stronger than any Monsters on the first floor, and its skin was almost impervious to any blade. However, to think its prided body couldn’t even stop a small blade of steel…?!
“Aaaaahhhh!!!”
The Goblin Champion looked up and roared sharply. It then began to trash around, its eyes redder than blood and started swinging its weapon randomly as if it had lost its mind. Because of this, Granite who was keeping the Goblin Champion at bay could only jump back.
As for Rain, when he saw the Goblin Champion’s actions, his eyes narrowed. Still, he didn’t stop his charge. The figure of the Goblin Champion drew increasingly near. Rain raised his hand and redirected his aim to a certain area on the monster’s chest, where reflected on his retina was a very small, dark spot, one among many, but darker, and very, very small, perhaps only around four to five centimeter in size—its weak point, the heart.
He held his hand and charged his hand with an incredible amount of magic power. He was about to launch his attack, when suddenly, out of nowhere, four to five Goblins entered his line of sight. They were rushing towards him, full of murderous intention. Then, one of them leaps in the air, and in just a blink of an eye, it’s already above him.
Rain gnashed his teeth, and then immediately jumping back to avoid the incoming attack. Then, with a stomp of his feet, he activated [Bone Spikes] and the Goblins around him were immediately skewered and died. Rain turned his attention back to the Goblin Champion and shot the over-charged lightning bolt at its angry eyes.
However, the Goblin Champion simply waved his arm, knocking the lightning bolt down without any problem. Even the rock spikes that Granite fired, as well as the Bone Spikes that Rain had summoned, was reduced into splinters. To think it even has a strong magic defense! Rain furrowed his brows in annoyance.
Since his Lightning Bolt was not the only one who slapped away as if it was nothing, as even Lafetti’s Water Magic and Granite’s Earth Magic was ignored completely. No, judging from the fact that Scarlet didn’t even damage it with her flames when she was fighting it with Granite a while ago, it should be concluded that one of the Goblin Champion’s innate powers is its incredibly high magic defense.
This Goblin Champion is truly an anomaly!
“Shit! These bastards!!”
Suddenly, Granite cried out in annoyance.
Rain saw the rock Lamian slowly being besieged by Goblins from every direction, disturbing her from supporting Lafetti, and attacking the Goblin Champion. The Goblins acted like suicidal maniacs, as they even went so far as to throw their bodies into Granite just to stop her, even if they are killed.
This kind of character is truly unbefitting that of a Goblin and completely unlike the Goblin that he had seen and met so far in the Desolate Cave. Looking at another direction, he also saw other groups of Goblins sneaking towards Lafetti’s direction!
This can’t be allowed!!
His eyes narrowed in anger, and his expression turned solemn. It was obvious that he wouldn’t be able to defeat the monster, even if it is already weakened from Lafetti’s thrashing she had given on it.
Lafetti and Granite are the only ones that could raise the chances of their victory.
“Granite, Lafetti, focus on the Goblin Champion! I and Scarlet will deal with the other Goblins!”
After saying that, Rain charged towards the nearest Goblins, the group that was sneaking towards Lafetti.
The two daggers in his hands danced in a short-range and unleashed a double flash. His eyes gleamed coldly, and before the monsters could react to his appearance, he had already killed one of them.
“GIEE ——!?”
The lower body, carcass, and the head.
Passing through the Goblin that was divided into these three parts, he landed on the ground. He then swiftly raised his head to ensure a broad vision. The monsters swaying around them showed no signs of reducing.
There is really something wrong here!
“…en…ur …e...es…”
"...?!"
