Chapter 38

Chapter 38

Zarda narrowed her eyes, as she watches the battle unfolded in front of her. Although, it was not a great fight that would last for ages, more like it’s little children fighting in front of her, but based on what she knows about Rain’s physical attributes, Rain’s growth easily surmounted her imagination.

The injured Troll roared deeply and slammed its weapon towards Rain. ‘BOOM!’ Its attack left a deep mark on the earth. However, Rain had already rolled out of the way. At that moment, Rain had already fled and circled around its side. The monster raised its hand ax again and swept it towards Rain. Zarda’s expression turned, and even Stagna beside her hurriedly pulled the strings of her bow. However, before she could attack, Zarda grabbed her hands.

“Not yet…” she said.

“But Chief,”

“Just watch,”

Zarda ordered as she saw Rain abruptly lowering his body and slipped into a slide.

His expression, although having some solemnly serious expression, but it was calm and steady nonetheless, ‘BOOOM!!’ The monster’s sweeping attack hurtled above and past his head. The fierce pressure alone was enough to cause pain as the wind scraped against his cheek. Just a little bit slower and he would’ve been swatted into the air by its attack.

Rain hurriedly got up and fled in the other direction. Although the Troll, the Lv2 humanoid Monster was overbearing and fierce, during the whole course of events, none of its attacks were able to reach him who evaded like a slippery loach. The Troll’s above him in many attributes by a great margin, but he was able to contend against this kind of monster using his monster abilities and inflated stats.

Unbeknownst to Zarda and the others, Rain’s Attributes had already reached G rank, and with his numerous abilities and skills, his combat ability was much more than an ordinary Lv1 could ever do. Even Lv2 adventurers would be hard-pressed in defeating him. And there was even a high chance of them being owned instead. This was what Skills could do—it could make common sense overturned in an instant.

Aside from that, was the fact that Rain’s equipment was much better than any monsters they encountered. Setting aside his sword [Rapid Rain], even his dagger, armor and boots were magical items not many adventurers and warriors could obtain.

[Squall’s Silence] a Rare Grade 1st Tier Dagger that enhanced his Dexterity and Speed by 16%, 15% Increased Physical Damage, and lastly, 12% added Critical Damage.

[Rain’s Protection] a Rare Grade 3rd Tier light body armor that increased speed and agility by 18%, Increase 6% to all Attributes, and lastly, a skill born from using rare Rune Stones; [Rain’s Blessing—a skill that cast recovery magic to the user as well as allies within five-meter range for 25 Seconds. [Rain’s Boots] a Rare Grade 1st Tier boots that enhanced Movement Speed and Agility by 13%, and [Silent Walk—a passive skill that erases the sounds of footsteps made when walking. As well as increased Stealth-type skills by 1 level]

This was Rain’s current equipment that boosted his fighting power and capability. All of them were made by Miyabila for Rain with an added touch, even using Rune Stones that were extremely rare and precious.

While fighting, Rain’s movements seemed awkward whenever he evaded the Troll’s attacks. Each time the Lamian’s fearfully thought he was going to die from one of the attacks, causing their hearts to almost stop and rush at him, but they would discover he actually miraculously survived by dodging, rolling, or jumping out of the way at the very last second. More or less, he appeared to be more scared than hurt as he survived every encounter without mishap.

Replaced him with anyone of them, this Troll would have died a hundred times during this period.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

That was how large the difference in strength between Rain and a Lamian was.

But not one dared to laugh at Rain’s battle—they couldn’t even think of doing such a thing. All that filled their mind were how their hearts almost stop beating every time they saw him dodging almost fatal strikes from his enemy. As well as how their minds clouded by anger and rage at the Monster that just couldn’t lay its head down and let it be killed by him, and save Rain from any possible wounds or injuries!

We should have cut off its leg or arm before letting Rain fight it!

The Lamians thought as they finished their respective battles and now was watching Rain do his own. All their hands on their weapons, ready to pounce the moment Rain’s life was in danger. If not for the fact that they wanted Rain to increase his power, and Lafetti’s secret request, they would have already cut the Troll to pieces.

Zarda and even the battle maniac Drova, however, felt shocked by Rain’s actions. Holy shit! He can even do this? Drova exclaimed inwardly. Though, she felt excited for some strange reason as she watches the battle unfolds before her. Truthfully, this kind of battle was child’s play for her. She could easily kill the Troll with but a slap of her hand. Simple and extremely easy. For her, Trolls are so weak they couldn’t even last a single minute against her.

However, while watching Rain fights, Drova seemed to realize some things she had not done before. Indeed, Rain’s movements seemed awkward and appeared as if he was dodging out of fear. However, if one looks closely, what he was doing was all premeditated actions.

It’s as if he could see or predict the actions of the monster in front of him, and then move before it could be completed. It’s completely different than how she and the others fight. Although there were techniques and skills, it’s like they were trying to destroy a rock by using all the strength they had, while Rain was constantly thinking on how to do it, with the least efficient effort.

His style was simple and efficient. It was like he had planned the entire fight. She had never seen someone fight like this. Even those who struggle against strong opponents rely on their magic and skills. But Rain was only relying on his physical body and his elegant combat arts that didn’t depend on skills. He looks like he’s just doing whatever he wants, but there are no wasted movements whether while evading, attacking, or changing positions. Yet he makes it look so normal as if it was nothing special at all.

And despite being so weak and fragile, completely inferior to his opponent, Rain seemed to give a strange sense of security, as if you could trust him not to die, no matter. Perhaps, this is also why despite Zarda and Lafetti’s overprotective nature, they are still watching him without doing anything. They trust that he would win in this fight.

Combat Arts alone, Rain’s much skillful than Drova. The way he moves his body, attack, dodge, and make use of opportune moments to deal a heavy blow—this is true Martial Arts. It’s not relying on skills alone or supernatural abilities—

Drova was dazzled by Rain’s fight.

The Troll that was swinging a large hand ax and the boy who wield a slender, thin sword that Drova had never believed would be of use. She felt as if it would immediately snap off the moment it clashed against another sword. However, looking at now, it doesn’t seem to be the case

Both sides refused to retreat a step and were carrying out a fierce sword battle.

Stagna beside Drova stroked her chin and praised: “Amazing.”

Drova slowly nodded. “Indeed.”

The sound of the violent sword dance completely rang in all directions.

The slender, thin sword didn’t use power and strength as Drova expected. However, the way Rain uses it—it was amazing!

Pure speed!

All Rain wanted seemed to just move as fast and nimble as the wind.

Despite the massive difference in level and physical attributes—the Troll and Rain a mutually confronting stance and carried out an evenly matched battle.

This unbelievable scene should have been impossible!

Level and Ranks dictates everything in this world. So how is it possible, for Rain who should have been around an H ranker in the 1st Level to be able to contend equally against a Lv2 whose strength should be at least in the E to D rank?!

This is a Troll!

Not a mere Goblin!

To Lamian, they might be just like Tolants, an easy prey. But to Rain, it’s supposed to be a very strong monster—

Rain…what are you?

… …

Rain froze every part of him poised and ready.

The very large figure dropped in front of him, snarling gutturally. The muscular creature was at least nine feet tall and looked like a man with all of his finer qualities removed. An ugly and beastly face, with oversized fangs, his hair matted, his skin hairy, looking like a Gorilla, sallow and rough and jaws that constantly dripped saliva.

It was a very ugly monster to behold.

The Troll wore no clothing, though not like they know the concept of clothes. However, at least they know how to preserve the last bit of their dignity by wrapping an animal fur on their waist, and hiding the sensitive part that cannot be seen in broad daylight. Despite being humanoid, Trolls were almost completely looked animal-like, and the smell of which did little to hide the stench of death and decay that emanated from the monster, make Rain somewhat apprehended.

The monster’s malice was as palpable as a chill, and yet this was the kind of monster that Rain was now fighting against with!

With Sylphy’s support, giving his vision that seemed to slow things using the ability [Keen Eye] as the base, and hastening his perception by compounding other abilities, Rain’s mind works a lot faster than normal and his combat intuition was enhanced by several-fold.

Rain now felt as if his perception had turned into something akin to a computer simulation. Now, from Rain’s perspective, the Troll’s attacks were slow and predictable. Each attack gave more than a second of reaction time to get out of the way. Thus, evading its attacks really wasn’t much of a problem.

It was simple and extremely easy, just like an adult being asked to do a grade schooler’s math homework.

Rain used [Hardened] [Bark Skin] and [Toughness] to reinforce his body and ducked a swinging arm. He then used [Lashing Tail Kick] on the Troll’s leg, causing to lose its balance and, without missing that chance, Rain thrusts his sword at full strength.

Everyone only had time to blink, somewhat surprised by Rain’s sudden quick attack after barely dodging the Troll’s arms. A silver light flashed. Before everyone even saw what had happened, Rain had already thrust his thin sword with one hand, in one smooth motion. The Troll’s body stops, right there and then, a tip of a sword sticking out at the back of its throat.

“It had ended,” Drova muttered with a faint smile. “That was a good attack,” There were many powerful skills that were greater than what Rain had used, and it’s not actually that impressive skill either. It was neither magic or combat art she knows of, after, just a simple attack with no magic power behind it. However, what made Drova somehow appreciate it was that Rain’s attack only had one feature. Fast, it was just pure speed.

Rain took that single moment where the Troll had let down its guard and stabbed his sword in the most fatal location in a very fast speed, killing it instantly. Fast, precise, and clean. It’s completely unlike Drova and the other’s way of fighting, where brute force mainly used.

I had seen humans fight before, but even I haven’t seen someone fights like Rain.

When everyone was focused on his attack on its leg, he gave his killing blow. And before anyone could see it clearly, the battle had already ended.

Strength was always been the main factor in a battle.

But for Drova, this kind of fight was much more satisfying than destroying everything in one fell swoop. And besides, there seemed to be something behind his every action—as if, it was some kind of combat arts that had been honed for countless years. It was perfect, the transition, the positioning, the attack, the defense; she had never seen those kinds of incredible combat arts before.

Blood spurted out from the small hole made by the Rain’s sword on the throat of the Troll. It was still alive and groaning, however, with it on the verge of death, Rain ended its life on his second attack.

When it ended, Rain felt a large chunk of his energy disappearing, and he fell on his butt, somewhat exhausted. The Troll, was perhaps, Rain’s strongest enemy so far. Not even the Orc Warrior he had encountered before could match up to it.

Though Rain had held back several trump cards of his, including [Lightning Bolt], [Bone Stakes] and such, due to their flashy effects that Rain didn’t know how to explain to Zarda and the other Lamians on how he was able to do it, he still won in the end.

Rain slumped on the ground, when he did, the Lamians hurriedly rushed towards him in worry.

“Are you okay?” Lafetti asked with a soft voice.

Her hand gently touches his cheek while Rain was looking at the sky.

“You dummy.”

She says it with a bitter smile. Lafetti seems to have a relieved expression. It seems like she was finally released from something painful. And Rain could somehow understand what it was—she held on, Rain smiled bitterly, and also felt his heart turned warmer than ever.

“——!”

Then, suddenly Lafetti’s brows furrowed when she sees his left arm and waist. Although not grave, but it was still bleeding. Despite able to dodge the Troll’s attacks, there were still times when Rain couldn’t and was hit instead. Lafetti touched the wounded part with a sorrowful face.

Rain grinned; “I did it,” he said as he tilted his face upwards, and at that moment where she lowered her head to look at him, he gave her a quick kiss on the corner of her lips.

Lafetti gazed down at him, a smile spreading across her face. Although there was some worry on her face, at least, Rain’s attempt to calm her down succeeded. She smiled, nodded her head and reached out her hand to stroke Rain’s head.

“Yeah, you did,” she said simply. “But this is what I don’t like,”

“Nevertheless, it’s necessary. As long as I won’t die, wouldn’t things be fine?” Rain responded with a smile to Lafetti who is putting on a sad expression. His expression exuded confidence and firm determination. “I wouldn’t be afraid of any injuries or hardships, because this is natural if I wanted to pursue power. And besides, you and the others are with me. I’m not afraid to die, because I have all of you—”

——!

Right after Rain said that his lips got blocked. The thing that is blocking his lips is——.

Lafetti put her hands around his neck and put her lips on top of his. It's not something that happened for an instant.

—— A Kiss.

It wasn’t a deep kiss where we tangled our tongues, but Rain seemed to be able to feel her feelings from this soft kiss more than ever. Her worries, her concerns, her love, her support and all the promise that holds for them. Rain can feel all of it. Her soft lips and the smell of her emerald hair overwhelmed him.
