V2 Chapter 30
A scary growl from a wolf snapped Lafetti and the others out of their thoughts.
From the distance, a scarred elite Goblin, almost as tall and fierce-looking as the first Goblin Champion they had killed, appeared holding a heavy axe. Beside him was a 3-meter long dog-type beast, an undead wolf. The low growl made everyone raise their guard.
[Goblin Warrior Kunsas!]
[Undead Wolf Dodra!]
“Gobororoaaaahhaa!! Gobolooorrroo!!”
The scarred Goblin Warrior bellowed.
“Haha…puny creatures, none of you will survive. All of you will die!”
As it spoke that only Rain could understand, it chopped out with its axe. An explosion followed, and the ground made even a fissure that sent rocks and debris bursting like shrapnel grenades. Even Granite was knocked back by the impact.
“This guy…”
Granite frowned.
The strength and aura she had felt from it were no less inferior to the first Goblin Champion they had defeated.
When the Goblin Warrior started attacking, the three-meter tall undead wolf also pounced at her. However, the Ant General was already in front of it, and intercepted it at the right moment it was about to hit Granite. With its blazing spear, created an explosion upon impact, knocking the Undead Wolf back.
“Elite Monsters… I don’t like where this is going…!”
The distant Scarlet’s face changed.
“This is going to become even harder if this kind of guy will also show up right now.”
Lafetti also realized how bad the situation was, “We still have no choice but to fight anyway. No use moping now. Scarlet and I will take the Goblin Warrior! Granite, take the Ant General and both of you take the Undead Wolf down as soon as possible. ”
“Fine. It’s do or die! To protect Rain, I’ll do anything you want…I’ll kill anyone who comes!!”
With a loud roar, Granite charged towards the Undead Wolf, while Lafetti and Scarlet along with the Ant General went towards the Goblin Warrior, starting their intense battle. Rain saw that because Granite had focused on the Undead Wolf, a few groups of Goblins had sneak past her and approach him.
He quickly invokes [Blaze] and flames swept towards the surrounding. He then looked around at the messy battle. After these two elites had appeared, the battle only became even more chaotic than before.
“That’s the spirit,” Lafetti grinned.
Scarlet was unsatisfied with the plan, but still, she knows that she was not in a position where she can actually say anything, much less refuse in this kind of situation. Hence, with a bleeding heart, she followed Lafetti, her entire body dawning full red metallic body armor that looks extremely cool.
On the other side, Granite and the Ant General engaged the fierce undead wolf and the Goblin Warrior. Granite in front of it, tying both the monsters down while the Ant General left a blazing trail as she circled around the mounted wolf, stabbing and burning it with her flame spear.
Lafetti and the others were going smoothly. However, suddenly the situation changes. As they were fighting, and winning already, being able to push back the two strengthened elite monsters, more and more undead and elite Goblins started to show up. The situation once again changes when fireballs and wind blades showered on their location.
“Go away.” Granite angrily whipped her tail towards them.
The Goblins roared loudly as they pounced towards her. Granite’s body trembled slightly, but the bodies of the Goblins hit by her tail trembled, then exploded into piles of flesh.
“Boom!”. “Boom!”. “Boom!”
Every single Goblin which attempted to attack her was smashed flying away.
Despite her build, her speed was simply too fast. Those Goblins couldn’t touch her at all. Granite fought the Goblins around them while also battling against the Undead Wolf Dodra. Suddenly, as she was fighting, a creepy chill crawled on her spine. She actually felt some sense of danger—she was about to jump away when the Ant General jumped behind her.
A black ball-like thing flew right in front of the Ant General. And then she has been knocked away from the explosion. Granite hurriedly caught her with her tail, but then felt something wrong. The Ant General’s power seemed to have weakened severely. But even with that amount of damage, it shouldn’t have been the case!
A curse?!
“Listen, you guys! Don’t get hit by a black ball spell!! It’s a curse!” she hurriedly cried out in warning.
[Ant General has been hit by the [Curse of Vulnerability (Mid)]! All attributes reduced by 20% and increase Physical Damage Received by 25%]
[Curse of Vulnerability (Mid)—a Curse Spell that curse all targets in an area, causing them to take increased physical damage and further increased physical damage over time. Attacks against cursed enemies have a chance to inflict bleeding and maim.]
Rain examined the Ant General with his eyes, and couldn’t help but winced from bad luck. A [Curse of Vulnerability]?! What the fuck! That’s even shittier than the current situation!
“It’s a curse of vulnerability!”
Rain cried out anxiously.
“Don’t let it hit you!”
“What?! Damn Shaman Lords, that’s what I hate about them!”
“It’s coming!”
Another round of blackball spells started flying in, and the group desperately tried to evade or block it using the surrounding monsters. But even though they were able to manage not being hit so far, their fight against the Goblin Warrior and the Undead Wolf was also affected, making them unable to land a decisive blow.

This is indeed the worst.
One hit by that would turn the situation even worse.
And what made this situation even more hopeless is that they didn’t have any purification or dispel magic skills to cure themselves. There was no Holy Classes among them or at least, Shaman like Threia that could dispel it.
Thinking about this problem, Rain’s expression darkened even more. His hand sparkled with golden light, then, a healing spell was cast on the Ant General. Even though it was wearing a tough armor, still, the force was enough to send it flying a few meters away. It was the testament to the weakening of her defensive capabilities.
“Lafetti, Granite, Scarlet focus one at a time! Kill them as fast as possible. Ant General, take on the archers and Mages first!” Rain cried out, as he continued shooting his arrows.
The Ant General’s weakened state cannot be used against the Undead Wolf anymore. Hence, she might as well focus on the surrounding monsters, especially the Goblin Mages.
Granite was feeling the pressure. To both left and right were elite Goblins, and in front was the Undead Wolf that doesn’t know what pain is no matter how much she bashed it against her shield or weapon.
Earthquake! She stunned the ones on the two sides, but the Undead Wolf continued attacking him. Granite’s [Titan’s Wreckage] smashed into its face, then she violently rammed her shield against it. This attack knocked the Undead Wolf. Then, without stopping, she waved her long, rock tail towards the enemies that surround her, Lafetti and Scarlet, helping relieve the pressure on that side for a moment.
While evading the balls of curses, they resumed their battles, but this time, even more seriously and desperately. Rock Blast! Granite triggered another skill. The surrounding rocks suddenly exploded, killing several elites, and knocking back the Goblin Warrior that Lafetti and Scarlet were fighting.
Rain nocked his bow and invoked [Piercing Arrow]. The fierce, spiraling meteor-like arrow shot through a nearby Goblin Warrior before piercing another Goblin Warrior’s head. As the Goblins and Undead Wolf reacted, an [Exploding Mine] that was secretly laid out was suddenly triggered, sending them flying.
Following that was a Multishot, Bone Spikes, and Arrow Volley; like a mini volley of arrows, they pierced towards the heart of the enemies. Immediately, the 2 squads of Goblins and Undead Wolves were annihilated, leaving only a few stragglers. Everyone took this time to charge into a chaotic melee.
Lafetti’s two hands began to emit icy energy, and a block of ice appeared. With a wave of her hand, it splintered into over 10 pieces and shot out, hitting the Goblin warrior charging at Granite as well as the nearby Goblins and Undead Wolves.
“Support Defense! Support Attack!”
Rain waved his hands, and the entire team’s attack speed and movement speed shot up. All that could be seen were Lafetti and the others, even the Ant General, dancing around the battlefield like butterflies, as well as the ranged magic and arrows, shot unceasingly by him.
He aimed at the place where the goblin mages are, and let out a volley of arrows. However, his brows couldn’t help but furrow as he saw that his rain of arrows had been knocked aside by the black energy.
As I thought, range attacks would not easily work against mages with their annoying barriers. I need to come close…
But how…?
Using [thought’s Acceleration], Rain’s thoughts flew inside his mind, but he was still able to completely understand them. His gaze wandered in the entire battlefield, but he just can’t find a good solution to the problem. Just what should he do to win this battle?
He turned towards the others, constantly checking their situation. Though already showing slight fatigue, they should still be able to fight a while longer. But not for long. Granite, spun like a tornado with her [Titan’s Wreckage], clearing the surrounding.
Should he use Granite to clear the way towards the Shaman Lords? But forget about the fact that even if he and the others managed to reach them, killing them immediately would still be impossible, but Granite and the others would surely need to sacrifice their lives to do it. In that kind of position, they would easily be surrounded and drowned.
Damn it, thinking strategies and plans for a large battle like this is not fit for a mere high school student, damn it! Why do I always encounter interesting situations like this?
In the first place, the difference in numbers was too far from expected. And he knows that there is already no escape, no matter how reckless he was. Thus, Rain decided to jump in by himself to fight as efficiently as possible utilizing his full strength. But even then he was aware that confronting this many goblins alone could be called suicidal.
This is bad! This is seriously game over.
As he thought that there was no way out, Rain suddenly noticed a familiar monolith placed at the end of the room. It was still standing at the top of that altar, with not even a scratch whatsoever.
It had been bombarded with magic, although not directly, but nevertheless, just like all the things found in this place, which had been completely destroyed and broken due to battle, how come it’s the only thing that remained unaffected?
It’s as if it was standing in a different, isolated place that the fires of war could not reach.
What is going on?
Feeling weirded out, Rain thrust my hands towards it, and a lightning bolt immediately shot towards it. It hits. However, when the cloud of dust and smoke faded, Rain can still see the monolith unscathed.
What’s going on here?
“…ope…n…ur…yes…hild…”
Open your eyes… for some reason; the strange voice once again appeared inside his mind. But this, it was clearer.
But what do you mean by open…?
Rain’s brows furrowed.
Who are you? And why open my mind… it’s not like I am dreaming…
Wait, a dream?
No, no way.
Rain’s eyes widened in shock, as his mind works faster than normal. He turned towards the monolith that had stood tall, without any scratch all this time.
A dream…? Wait… I had heard something about this in the past. Something, like all of what you experience, was nothing but a dream-kind of thing? What was that movie? A world where you can even dodge bullets?
But since when?
The monolith?!
Rain leap in the air, and suddenly rush towards the monolith. Landing at the center of a large group of Goblins, he slams his palm on the ground and summoned bone spikes. Then, he followed with the blaze, and lightning bolt, to clear the area. Rain then turned towards the monolith.
“[Cowards die many times before their deaths.] and [The Valiant never taste of death but once.] could it have something to do with this?”
Rain narrowed his eyes, thinking deeply. His mind swirling in thousands of thoughts, a power that is given to him by the skill [Thought Acceleration].
The time seemed to have slowed down a bit as he drowned in his thoughts.
[The Valiant never taste of death but once]...could it be...?! Perhaps…
However, as he was trying to make a sense of it, suddenly, at the corner of his eyes, he saw Lafetti and Granite fighting.
And then, a vision of Lafetti being stabbed through her chest appeared inside his mind by an unknown black thing, he snapped out. His vision of impending death. Sometimes his [Precognition] will give this kind of vision.
No...!!
Like a rabid dog, Rain’s eyes reddened in anxiety, and without hesitation, he charged towards Lafetti. He invoked his blink and rushed towards his lover.
Please make it in time…!!
Lafetti and the others were fighting desperately. The sword in her hand flashed with an azure glow. In another instant, it flew lightning-fast towards the monsters that charged at her. Because of the swords extremely fast speed, those Goblins and Undead wolves that hadn’t anticipated her sword coming at them with such blinding speed.
They could barely catch a glimpse of the sword. By the time they were finally able to react, the [Gentle Wave] in her hand had already ruthlessly pierced cut their bodies into pieces. Not a single one was able to evade it. then, with a sway of her waist, her long bristly tail swept towards the surrounding monsters.
All of her attention was in the monsters around her. In addition, her senses were also getting duller from fatigue, and overwhelming killing intent that seemed to cover the entire place.
—and hence, she wasn’t able to notice it earlier.
The jet black threat that suddenly appeared, creepily crawling towards her from behind.
…when she noticed something, it was already too late.
“NOOOOOOO!!! LAFETTIIII!!!”
When she turned around, her chest had already been dyed red with blood.
… …
