V3 Chapter 46
Leticia grasped her chest and panted. Her face was completely pale. She looks at Rain which was supporting her from completely falling in the ground, with a complicated expression.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t—”
“It’s fine. Though I’m sorry as well, Elder Sister didn’t mean to hurt you,” Rain said with a wry smile as he looks at her pallid expression with a bit of guilt.
Yeah, she just wanted to kill me, Leticia let out a sigh. But she still gritted her teeth and struggled to stand up. Fortunately, Celis timely recovery spell poured on her, killing the cold immediately. Though, it still exhausts her somewhat.
“I’m sorry for what I did—it’s unbefitting for such as me to lose control of my own emotions,” she said as she stepped back, the Lamians glaring at her made her so.
“It won’t happen again, I apologize,” she then waved her hand, especially to those knights that had already engaged against the other Lamians in battle.
The Human Knights had an expression of relief, though there was still fear that could be seen on their expressions.
Although they know that the Lamians are really strong, but in that short moment of exchange, they felt despaired in an instant. They couldn't even hit back, as they were constantly being pushed back. The Lamians strength, speed, agility, and even skills were completely above them.
They might have won in number, but if the fight continues, even with their numerical advantage, it seems like it's only a matter of time before they were slaughtered in cold blood.
What's even worse, was that they also know common military tactics, as some of the range and assassin-like Lamians had targeted the priests, or mages first despite them being far in the rear. Because of that, the frontline was immediately broken, and pandemonium broke out among their ranks as the Lamians bulldozed their way through them.
The only silver lining they have is that, despite the Lamian's raging in violence, they didn't seem to have any intention of killing them.
Even those that were knocked out somehow is still alive.
At least, no one died.
But of course, they are not arrogant to think that the Lamians didn't dare to kill them. The only reason why they were still alive is surely because of that human boy is there.
“It’s okay. It’s not really something that bothered me,” Rain smiled faintly. His handsome, innocent and gentle expression somewhat elevated Leticia’s down emotions. Her expression as well started to ease a lot.
“Anyway, Rain… do you really know about it?”
“Yeah. Well, I only know a bit of it. But from what I know, I'm certain that the Holy Sword you speak of should be inside the Dungeon. As long as you can conquer the Dungeon, you can find it there…”
“Dungeon? Where is this Dungeon?”
Rain thought for a moment, then said, “The monolith right there, if I’m not mistaken, that should be similar to the grave mark that sent me. It’s a transit point, an entrance to the Dungeon so to speak. As for the dungeon itself, I don’t know the exact location of it. I'm sorry.”
That’s what the beautiful girl had told him before.
Though the true location of the Dungeon was still left unknown, from what he had heard, there are several transit points serving as an entrance to the Dungeon.
Three of them are in the Desolate Cave- he doesn't know the reason why there are even three entrances of it in a single place, while the others are scattered in the continent.
“Transit Point?”
Leticia tilted her head with a confused expression. It seems like a word she had never encountered before.
“I think you call it, Teleportation Arrays, or portal gate. I'm also not sure about it.” Rain replied with a nonchalant shrug. He only calls it a transit point because that's what it seems to him.
“If I’m not mistaken then, there are several keys that can let you enter it- the blood of a human is one important factor. Others are to be able to read the words written, and recite it, or carry the relics of the Heroes: blood, item or any Hero-related treasure. Having one of them will make the Dungeon acknowledge you as a Trial Taker. Though, the first one seemed to be depending on luck. It seems like not all humans can activate the array. Sufficient strength seemed to be necessary for one to be acknowledged by the Dungeon...”
“A Dungeon…”
“Hm... apart from that, I don’t know. All I know is that the Dungeon is indeed made personally by the Ancient Great Hero; Arthuria, and it seems to also be called her Tomb. Anyway, be careful if you want to challenge it. The Dungeon is hellishly hard. So you might as well be very careful inside. That’s all I can say, though so best of luck. Anyway, we'll be going now. My companions need rest. So, let's meet again later,”
Rain bid farewell, then turn around and walk away. Zarda also followed, along with the other Lamians, which was still wearing angry and vigilant expressions.
“Wait, Rain…you’ve been there haven’t you? Can you give us more information about it?”
Celia asked.
“It wouldn’t be a problem…but sadly, I can’t right now.”
Rain said with an apologetic face. He had been inside the Dungeon for a very long time; hence, just like what Zarda said, he really wanted some rest.
He’s been fighting and fighting and fighting that he’s mentally and physically fatigued. In addition, he had missed Zarda and the others very much, so he wanted to spend time with them now that he’s back.
Although the Dungeon can increase his strength in a short time, he doesn’t want to forsake his time with them with some immediate power-up, since it’s not important for now, anyway.
In fact, he’s already increasing his strength too fast, that he was even advised by that beautiful girl to take it slowly for a while. It would have adverse effects in the long run and would affect his foundation if he increased his level carelessly.
Most importantly, Lafetti and the others really need some rest.
Although he doesn't mind sharing any information about his experience inside the dungeon, but he cannot ignore Lafetti and the others condition.
Celia wanted to say something but Celis stop her with a shake in her head. She had seen Rain’s expression, and she knows that he would not change his mind. And in fact, it might even strain their new relationship if they tried to force him.
In any case, everything has its own time and space. So, patience is required.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
And most of all, the look the Lamians are giving them is just extremely horrifying.
They are really overprotective of him, didn’t they?
It’s as if they are afraid that they would put him into a sack and run away from here. That’s a completely ridiculous, and unnecessary worry...right?
“Then, okay…thank you,”
Leticia seemed to have understood this as well.
With a helpless sigh, she looked at him with a faint smile. Anyway, since they now have a clue, as well as the Monolith that seemed to be the entrance to the Dungeon, they should be fine now.
A clear path had been found before them.
That’s more important.
The road to the Holy Sword is already in front of them
“Though, I hope I can find you for help sometimes. It wouldn’t take your time much—finding the Holy Sword is really important for us.” She said with a very hopeful expression.
“Gotcha. As long as you don’t create chaos and problems in the Desolate cave, I’ll do what I can to help you. In any case, it seems like the Holy Sword is your people’s treasure,”
The Delouria Kingdom, the said Descendant of the Hero King, and the co-creator of the Holy Sword as well as a great friend of the Hero Arthuria.
Rain knows all about it since Sylphy had told him about the information regarding the legend. Furthermore, it has also been requested by that Beautiful girl, to conquer the Dungeon and take back the Holy Sword to the Delouria Kingdom who seemed to need it due to the ongoing chaos in the continent.
Although she was able to sense the chaos in the continent, she was unable to leave the dungeon, nor move the Holy Sword that was sleeping deep inside the Dungeon. But the only way to acquire and obtain the Holy Sword was to complete the trial of the Dungeon. Even she cannot meddle with that.
Of course, Rain taking the Holy Sword back to the Delouria Kingdom was only her request. If Rain wanted the sword then she wouldn't have anything to say about it. As long as the Holy Sword acknowledge him as its master.
However, if her desire was given priority, then she would ask Rain to give the Holy Sword back to its rightful honor- the Delourial Kingdom. Reason, unknown. She didn't told him why specifically. Only, she said that the Holy Sword was not owned by Arthuria, but rather, owned by its creator, the Hero King. And so, it must be returned to his descendants.
The Hero Arthuria only took the sword with her because of the request by the Hero King- to hide the Holy Sword. The Hero King feared its incredible powers. It would only cause chaos if it was retained by people who doesn't deserve it.
Only, it would be given back if the world is once again descended into chaos.
Of course, to Rain, it’s not a difficult request. Though, only if he managed to conquer the Dungeon. He wasn’t that desperate to obtain a Holy Sword anyway.
And now that the said descendants had come, it’s better if they find it themselves instead of him.
Though, she really had some strange requests. What do you mean, give the sword back to a descendant of the Delouria Kingdom, which I acknowledged as worthy...what does she mean by worthy? And why me? What does it relate to me?
Rain let out a helpless sigh.
Although I don't know if that princess is worthy or not, but those girls...? Celis and Celia seemed good people. So giving them the Holy Sword should not be a problem.
“Thank you,”
Rain nodded, and then followed Zarda out.
Even when they were out of sight, Leticia was still looking at the place they disappeared to with a hard to define expression.
“So he’s Rain…huh,”
“He’s mysterious, isn’t he?”
Celia walked over and said with a wry smile.
“Ah, I think I understand why you are so interested in him, Celia. There is indeed something strange about him…I just can’t point it out. What’s more, it feels as if I had seen him somewhere,”
Leticia placed her hand on her temple and frowned.
“No, not him…just, I think resembles someone…damn it, it’s at the tip of my tongue but I can’t say it out.”
“Uncle Jonathan,”
Celis muttered absent-mindedly. The moment she saw Rain personally, she immediately thought that he looked somewhat familiar… as if she had seen him somewhere. Moreover, she had felt as if she knew him well.
However, she had clearly met him for the first time.
Furthermore, it was a boy that had a relationship with the Lamians…
“What?!”
Leticia, and even Celia stared at Celis with a surprised expression. Then, when they recall the current head of the Aquarian, they were stumped. Now that she mentioned it... eh? Really? But how?
Celis looks at them and said with a sigh; “Haven’t you seen the portraits of Uncle Jonathan when he was young in the Aquarian Mansion? He looks almost similar to him,” she looks at the place where Rain and the Lamians disappeared, her face having a complicated expression.
"The expression on his face, his eyes, his nose, and the way he furrowed his brows...they are almost look alike. If this is just coincidence, then, it's pretty scary..."
“Ah, now that you mention it. But that can’t be possible, right? It might just be a coincidence, after all, that he looks similar,” Celia smiled wryly. Furthermore, despite how he looks, Jonathan Aquarian, her uncle was a prideful, devoted and loyal man. He can’t possibly cheat on his wife. Then, suddenly her eyes widened in shock; “You can’t possibly be thinking…”
“So you realized,” Celis smiled wryly.
“No…no, he’s…he’s dead!”
Celia almost shrieked in shock.
There can’t be such a coincidence in this world.
“There are some people who look similar in this world. Him, being alive, and meeting him here can’t possibly be that… possible…right?”
Celia turned towards her sister, her eyes clouded with doubt, though more in disbelief.
“And also that’s impossible, even if he is truly alive. You might have forgotten it, but that Aquarian Child is only lost eight years ago when he is still a newborn. Even if he is alive, he should still be around eight to nine years old boy now. A human can't possibly grew that fast. So that’s impossible.” Doram said with a serious expression.
“I know…that’s why I also think it’s impossible to be him,”
Garas said in agreement. That can’t be the lost child of the Aquarian. Their age differs so much. And besides, there are people who bear resemblance to someone. It’s just a coincidence.
“Who are you talking about?”
Leticia asked with a bewildered expression.
“Who’s him?”
“You might have not known this, your Highness, because for ten years you have been away in the kingdom, but Uncle Jonathan had a son.”
“Had? Are you talking about Euric?”
Leticia tilted her head. Indeed, she didn’t know much about the affairs of the Twelve Great Clans, since just until three years ago, she was still living in the Academy. Although she heard some news about the events that circled around the Great Nobles, but inner and serious affairs of the past years she was absent, she knows little.
Still, now that they mention it, I did hear about Uncle Jonathan's wife giving birth to a healthy son. It was even said that the son was prophesized to become great in the future, which could perhaps even change the entire continent.
If I'm wrong, the Delouria Kingdom even throw a large celebration about it.
And if I'm mistaken, that boy was even...
Leticia turned towards Celis, "But Celis, wasn't that Euric?"
Celis smiled wryly, immediately realizing what the Princess was talking about. However, to the princess's surprise, she shook her head.
"It's not him, your highness. And also why 'that' wasn't mentioned anymore, especially between the two houses."
"What do you mean--"
“Wait, Celis don't! I don’t think it’s right to talk about this now since it’s forbidden to even speak about it. Especially among the 12 Great Clans.” Doram said with a hint of warning.
After all, this topic involves the prestige of the 12 Great Clans. Even if Leticia is the princess, it’s not something that can be said or mentioned carelessly.
In fact, what happened in the Aquarian Clan had been placed a Gag Order by the King himself. Since it has something to do with one of the Royal Families, not even high officials dared to break that order.
Celis and Celia, along with Doram and Garas, they heard some of it because of the relationship of their families with the Aquarians. But even they are forbidden to mention it to anyone, much less even speak about it. Thus, they can only shut their mouth in silence.
They only mentioned it now because of Rain's strange but unexpected appearance, startling the buried memories that were hidden deep within their hearts.
“Wait! You just can’t say that and left me hanging, can you? What do you mean ‘had a son?’ If it’s not Euric, then, does this mean Uncle Jonathan has two sons? But I thought uncle only has Euric?! Vivi is a girl, and can never be called a son... what is it that I didn't know? Hey, Doram, don’t just avert your eyes and act dumb! This is the first time I’m hearing this. So you better confess!!"
Leticia angrily snapped at Doram who suddenly turned around and hurriedly walked away.
“I’m your princess, goddamnit?! Your Master!! Answer me, now! Don’t you dare run!! I said, come back!!”
… …
