V2 Chapter 26

Hearing their answers, Rain can’t help but feel touched in his heart. Although these skills are just some minor ones and are certainly nothing in the eyes of true experts like Lafetti and the others. These skill tomes are still treasures that cannot be scoffed at or ignored so easily like them by other people.

In fact, perhaps, if its other humans who were with him, they would have start fighting as to who would have it.

Who in the world can have more than five skills?

Even the strongest person in the world only has less than ten skills in his arsenal. Only Rain, this abnormal young monster has such diverse and numerous skills in his hands.

Though, not like having more skills equate being all-powerful. Truthfully, having more than one skill would already make it difficult for people to increase their level, as one would even need to take a very, very long time to level up, much less requires more effort.

Many people who had lesser skills, but they still stand in the summit of power in the food chain of the continent. Just that, having more skills is like becoming a jack of all trades but [master of none] kind of character.

Nevertheless, Rain is an abominable existence that not only could obtain more skills as he wanted, but also increased their levels without a problem as well. In this wide world, there’s nothing like him. But to other people, having more than one skills is just a chore. But still, many people desired them, because it could come in handy in their every day life.

In just a few minutes of considerations, he took several Skill Tomes while returned the others back into the bag:

[Support Defense (Common): Reduce the damage taken of the front members by 10%]

[Support Attacks (Common): Enhanced target’s offensive attack by 10%.]

[Recovery (Common): Heal target by 10%]

[Thought Acceleration (Rare): Accelerates the user’s thinking process, prolonging the user’s available perception of time.]

[Skill Tome (Common)—Added Fire Damage Skill: A support type skill that adds fire damage to any of the user’s attacks.]

[Skill Tome (Common)—Added Lightning Damage Skill: A support type skill that adds lightning damage to any of the user’s attacks.]

[Skill Tome (Uncommon)—Amplify Skill: A support skill that enables you to amplify or enhance any type of skills Magic/Enhancement/offensive/defensive-type, when cast.]

[Skill Tome (Common)—Boomer Tackle: A movement skill that mimics how boomerang flies, making feints against enemies, before ending with a strong, and powerful tackle!]

[Skill Tome (Common)—Health Recovery (Weak): an ability that heals small injuries and cuts.]

[Skill Tome (Uncommon)—Nimble Body Skill: Enables the user’s body light as a feather, increasing agility and dexterity.

[Skill Tome (Rare)—Magic Power Transfer Skill: An ability that enables the user to transfer his own Magic Power to others.]

[Skill Tome (Uncommon)— Accelerator: the user gains a barrier around himself/herself and is able to move and think of much faster speeds. However, this ability drains magic rapidly.]

[Skill Tome (Common)—Boost: The user’s physical strength and speed are increased. It uses physical strength as a base.]

[Blaze skill (Common): a fire-elemental skill that summons a column of flames to the target.]

[Breeze (Common): a wind-elemental skill that summons breeze around the user.]

[Multi-shot (Uncommon)—an archer-exclusive ability where one can shot two-three arrows simultaneously. Requirement: Archer Class]

[Ricochet Shot (Uncommon)—an ability to cause your arrow to jump between two targets. The higher the level the more the chances of it bouncing against more than one targets.]

[Piercing Arrow (Common)—an archer-exclusive skill where one can shot an extra-piercing arrow that ignores defense, and penetrate through the target with extreme power.]

[Enemy detection expansion (Uncommon)— a skill that extends the field of the user’s enemy detection on a slightly wider range.]

[Escape (Uncommon)—a skill that increased speed and agility when escaping. This ability also allows one escape, even in a restrained state.]

Rain prioritizes getting support-type skills more than others. From this moment on, he would be playing the supporting role rather than the main DPS or the usual all-rounder.

Scarlet cannot easily replenish her Magic Power that easily, she can’t arbitrarily use her magic, as it would exhaust her immediately. And so, he would take that position for himself, all while supporting the others.

Originally, the amount of his magic power is not any inferior compared to Lafetti and the other Lamians. In fact, he was even confident that if he could manage to control his magic power better, he would have made into a fine magician that would not lose to the Ant Queen; Scarlet.

Sadly, his current magic veins, the lay lines on his body were so fragile they couldn’t endure the strong flow of magic power. Nevertheless, he can still take advantage of this Magic Power inside of him…and that is by using special skills.

That is what makes Special Skills better than most magic. Although they use Magic Power as well, their consumption was smaller than Magic. Furthermore, they already have fixed mana consumption that doesn’t actually require high mastery of Magic Power.

That is why, if it’s about skills, Rain could make better use of his troublesome amount of magic power more than he could use magic. Though, in terms of convenience and flexibility, Magic is indeed better than Skills. But sometimes, especially in his case, the latter is much better than the former. Much less, he could easily deplete his magic power without any fear of any side effects.

Magic relies on one’s mastery and control over Magic Power, while Skills has a cheating-like ability of Auto-assist like system commonly seen in virtual reality games. Though, it has its advantage over Magic, Skills also has disadvantages as well.

For convenience, one doesn’t need to control magic power to activate a skill. However, the only difference is that Skills already had fixed parameters and attributes. Hence, it cannot be strengthened or weaken its power, no matter how much one pours magic power into it. They didn't have the flexibility and control like that of Magic.

This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.

That is why, sometimes they appeared weaker.

For example, a [Fireball] skill is actually much weaker than a fireball made from pure magic. Be it in terms of size and destructive power. A Fire Mage can strengthened and incerase the size and power of the fireball by inputting more magic power. But a skill cannot do that.

Though, it's faster to cast and without any worry of being interrupted when casting. So it's still more convenient.

What’s more, since Rain couldn’t be affected by any side-effects from continuously consuming magic potions, it’s only best if he would take on that role himself. With mana potions, he can be said to have an almost endless magic power.

After learning the skills he had chosen one by one, his last preparation was to recover his Magic Power. Although he still has some more left, it would be better to fight at his peak.

However, this time, he doesn’t need to waste a Magic Potion for that, as he had something far better. Rain opened his backpack and immediately took out a white rectangular box-like object with a connector attach. It was none other than the Power Charger for his Smartphone.

And just like the Smartphone and the Backpack, as well as the Headphones he had brought, which all of them had turned into Magic Items, the Power Charger had become one as well.

Not only it can charge the Smartphone using the magic power stored inside it, it can also do that to him as well. Now, it was like a Magic Power storage, where he can store Magic Power and used it like a second battery for him.

The Power Charger’s capacity was double the amount of his entire Magic Power. Because of this, Rain was not afraid of depleting all his magic power. He basically has three times the amount of a normal elite-rank mage.

After a few minutes, he finally recovered the Magic Power he had lost. And now, he was more than prepared for another war. He also called Scarlet to replenish her magic power using the Power Charger. In any case, something happened, Scarlet's incredible Fire Magic would be very reassuring to.

Looking at the scene in front of him, Lafetti, Granite and the other Antmen and Killer Ants had already started fighting against the new Goblin’s Horde.

The new Goblin Horde was rushing around the entire place like bees from a beehive that was poked.

At this point in time, the number of enemies had already expanded greatly, and the familiar sight of Goblins filling the entire mausoleum had appeared once again in front of him.

Seeing the countless Goblins leaping out everywhere, anyone would feel like they were seeing a nightmare. Much less him.

They’re all strengthened elites!

Rain thought with worry. Normal people in his level would even have trouble dueling a single normal elite. And even a strengthened Lv1 warrior, who could jump levels to fight, will probably be only able to fight four to five of them simultaneously. But to think, most of this horde is composed of strengthened elites.

Even veteran adventurers would surely feel despair and lose hope in facing against this new horde.

Still, Lafetti and the others didn’t even care about this much despair, and still confidently stand on the battlefield.

No wonder humans feared a Lamian. They were truly a monster among monsters. Well, thinking about it, Rain can’t help but smile wryly…after all, at this moment he was also among those monsters.

Of course, not just literally as he, who possesses incredibly inflated stats, and countless skills in his arsenals, where even a strengthened human warrior would only have less than ten of them, he’s more of a monster compared to the Lamians.

Watching the fierce battle unfolds, just like usual, the flames of war raged everywhere in the Mausoleum.

The heaven shaking shouts were resounding everywhere and everything within sight was covered in blood.

Hell. If one has to name this place, then this word can only be the one to properly describe this scene.

Magic spells whistled through the air, and blood and magic flew everywhere. The front of both sides was repeatedly exploding with splendid luster. Blood mist filled the air and incomplete limbs filled the ground. This was the luster of death.

Suddenly, a bright ray of light flashed from the other side of his vision, and a vigorous silhouette rushed forward. In fact, it only left a few after-images behind. It rushed straight fast through the group of Goblins like a strong gale, causing every Goblins in the way to be blown away like broken kites amidst the violent storm.

Then, before its figure could be revealed completely, it had already left behind with a similarly lightning speed, and only left some after-images amidst the torn corpses of the Goblins around behind. It was none other than Rain.

He killed his enemies as fast as lightning.

Looking around and finding Lafetti, he saw her ferociously deflected the magic that rained down on her with only her sword. And he couldn’t help but admired it. Although he often sees her fight, but not fight this well. It was breath-taking.

Truthfully, her technique wasn't as organized, as his own. Rain’s swordsmanship didn't have any weaknesses. He is correctly using all his muscles in every battle, concentrating his strength on defense or sudden offense. In fact, no matter what kind of monster he faced, strong or weak, it can even be said that he was trying to use all that he could, and do anything possible to patch up the lack of strength and level in battles.

Sometimes, if situation calls for it, he would be carried away and rushing into battle, completely forgetting about defense and using all the techniques, available to him to kill his opponents as fast as possible.

Relying only on his agility and reaction, showing incredible feats, he was raining strikes on his enemies, defeating them sooner or later.

But Lafetti was fighting in a different manner.

She was thinking about defense and offense at the same time. When she saw a weakness - she was attacking, when in danger - defending. An orthodox way of fighting, one that is completely systematic in the arts of combat.

She developed those tactics during multiple battles against monsters and practiced it to perfection on her training since childhood. Of course, there is a talent as well. She became as strong as this because of her heaven-gifted talent, and hard work, enough to make him one of the protectors of the Amani Tribe...and also the youngest. And Rain couldn’t help but envy her.

If he was like a Wild Beast in battle, she would be an intelligent, trained killer. She was like both Stagna, and Drova combined.

It was at this kind of moment, when Rain truly understands, why, despite being one of the youngest, Lafetti's position as the third protector was unshakeable. And that she was hailed as the strongest of the younger generation of Lamians. She's a true, and genuine Genius!

Slaughtering her way on the battlefield, Lafetti looked like she was dancing. Because of her agility and the incredible flexibility of a Lamian, she was able to make strikes only a woman could do.

Well, I can’t help it. I truly lost against her. I can't fight that well and even elegantly.

Rain smiled wryly. He was born in a peaceful world, where being good in fighting, and experiencing numerous life and death battles is not necessary to have. He didn’t have that time to learn how to fight. He only learned how to fight only through practical experience, life and death battles. Though right now, he was finally getting proper lessons from Drova and the other Lamians, it’s still far from enough.

To people with the same level as him, he would only win because of his skills and inflated stats. Pure combat skills and techniques, he’s still far from the real deal. And that's why he still has a long way to go.

Rain turned and looked towards Granite’s side.

The shield-bearing rock Lamian was taking on over an entire group on her own, swinging her fierce, and horrifying weapon wildly. A few swings would take out a whole swath, killing them by the dozen in an instant.

The attacks of these strengthened elites didn’t even tickle her. A normal adventure would have trouble surviving three hits, while the fragile-looking creatures, with only one armor or two, might die in just 2…

Looking at that heavy spike club that seemed to glimmer in crimson, as well as the dark, thick murderous intention aura coming off it and her black shield, he thought, she really is the strongest bulldozer…even Drova didn’t fight like that, as the War Goddess Lamian prefers acting like a wolf in a sheep’s herd, slaughtering and swinging her spear or sword in frenzy.

She fought like a true wild beast, with a fierce smile on her face, and every swing of her sword, life would be taken. That's Drova's way of fighting.

But Granite is like a manifestation of destruction itself.

Rain's eyes were then drawn towards Scarlet’s Flame Burst, Flame Thrower, and Blaze. All kinds of fire attacks were being launched by her, bombarding the enemies.

With her newly replenished magic power, the numerous monsters flooding from everywhere were reduced by a third in an instant. She looked like a Fire Goddess, throwing explosive bombs relentlessly, sweeping large groups of monsters that appeared in her way. Though, she's also good at close combat, still, she specialized in magic bombardment.

But... just by having these three women by his side, it's as if he had an entire army of thousands in his side. Reliable, dependable, and so goddamn beautiful!
