Chapter 55
“He’s waking up… let him drink another potion. It will calm his heart; we don’t want the boy to become a beast, don’t we? We must ease the transformation!”
Rain was listening…but hardly able to understand.
His mind was so much in a mess, that it was doing good in becoming lazy and not doing its job. Then, the familiar sensation—a cold bottle was placed against his lips.
The familiar bitter scent of medicine flared his nostrils. Still, he drank and drank…and it’s so good, unexpectedly. The cool feeling was calming down his blazing nerves. Still, the moment it hit his stomach, it flipped over, showing its dissatisfaction once again. He coughed, and turned his head to the right, vomiting with the almost familiar scent of blood.
“You’re right, he almost…as furry as a wolf… “
A wolf?
Rain lay back, trying to wrap his fuddled mind around it.
What’s this about being furry? Being a wolf?
He tried to think and analyze what they are saying, but once again he was struck dizzy.
And everything went blank…
Just what is going on?
What had happened to me…?
When dusk came, Rain finally opened his eyes. Although he still feels his body painful and limp, he almost recovered from exhaustion. But fortunately, the annoying heat that seems to made him feel as if he was a slice of bacon inside an oven, seemed to have disappeared over time.
Thank god… that nasty shit is something he would not want to experience again. If possible. Now he knows what poor bacon felt when he was trapped inside that container of hell.
“…Mh?”
“…Oh? You’re up?”
When Rain opened his eyes, his vision was still blurry. And bright light around him accosted his eyes. As he slowly came to, he felt a warm and soft sensation on the back of his head. Then, he noticed that he was resting on Lafetti’s lap.
“Lafetti?”
“Hm, it’s me,” she answered with a gentle sweet smile.
She was carrying a bowl, and with the taste of something bitter and somehow a bit sour in his tongue, Rain immediately realized she must have been feeding him. Though, it doesn’t taste like a porridge or stew. Medicine again perhaps…?
When he looks at her, Rain saw her wearing a worried expression. Her long eyelashes and finely chiseled features filled his vision. Rain wanted to smile but suddenly gasped with a strangled-sounding squeak.
It hurts!!
Why did his body feel strangely sore, as if he’d been pummeled with brute force?
When he tried to sit up, the soreness made him wince.
Seeing him like that, Lafetti hurriedly put down the bowl she was carrying then said with care.
“Don’t move,” she said as she gently pushes him back so that he could lie on his back.
“Are you okay?”
“I…think so,” he answered with a faint smile. His voice was not very clear. In fact, it sounded very raspy. And even his face was still pale like paper and only had a weak breath. She could not say even one word but just stare at him with all her eyes.
“What…happened?”
“No…nothing happened."
Really...?
The expression of his eyes must have been displayed perfectly as Lafetti smiled wryly and spoke; "...really, nothing unusual happened. Just that the awakening process is a bit difficult. But you are okay now…” she said with tears streaming down her face.
Her eyes glimmered with love and longing as she looks at him with so much love in her soft ruby eyes. She then leaned over and kissed his brow, “Do you feel pain? Where?”
Rain's expression softened. His heart swelled with warmth. She must have been extremely worried. He wanted to reach out his hand and wipe her tears, but just the act of moving his hand seemed to give him excruciating pain. As if it was being pressed down by a mountain. It’s so heavy and painful.
“I feel pain everywhere… did someone beat me up when I was asleep?” he smiled wryly.
Listening to this voice of his inexplicably made her heart twinge. Lafetti knew he was trying to lighten up the mood, but the few tears she’d shed for these past four days while waiting for him to wake up had only been the tip of what felt like a giant mountain in her chest.
She turned her head away so he wouldn’t see the tears in her eyes.
She wiped her tears, but the rim of her eyes and the tip of her nose dyed red says otherwise.
Rain felt heartache seeing her like this.
He really did scare her.
But what the hell happened?
“I’m happy that you are now awake,”
Lafetti said as she brushed away the damp stray hairs in front of his forehead with her fingers. Then, when she looks down, his gaze met hers, and her heart melted at the tender look in his blue eyes.
Because of his somewhat glassy eyes, moist and seemed to be lost in focus, as a result, his expression naturally was tinged with hints of gentleness and tenderness more than ever. However, this didn’t make Lafetti happy but become even more hurt.
- Her always cheerful and strong Rain, showing this kind of weakness made her heart grieves in endless pain.
“Now, eat and drink this first and return to sleep.”
“Hm, thank you,” he was honestly very hoarse, raspily scraping her heart away, yet he still did not forget to smile to reassure her.

She felt like… her heart was going to be ground away into tiny little pieces soon.
She nodded. Relief swept through her, threatening to make her tears overflow. If only Rain was in a good condition, then she could maintain her cold and indifferent expression and throw a fit. She winced inwardly. Was that what she’d been doing all these years?
Relying on anger and a cold heart to keep from dealing with her real feelings?
“Lafetti,” he waited till she cast a furtive glance his way.
“Sweetheart, I’m alright…I don’t know what happened but I think I’ve given you a scare. But I’m really alright. Save from muscle pains. But a little sleep would wash it all away,”
You don’t know how much scare you had given me…!
The mountain lodged in her chest melted away, and more tears burned her eyes. She quickly looked away. “I know,” she said softly before gracefully twirling her wrist. Using her hands as a comb, she was grooming his hair; her gentle, rhythmic movements made him feel extremely comfortable. It truly made him happy.
To be honest, Rain felt like he didn't deserve this treatment, and he sort of wanted to apologize. But, he knows that it would only make Lafetti displeased.
Their relationship is not something that could be measured as simple as this.
"......How long was I gone?"
“A bit longer…but it’s not something you should concern yourself with,”
The liquid in the bowl was odorless and colorless just like water.
Lafetti put a small spoon of medicine in front of him and slowly lean the spoon. But the still sore and numb Rain wasn’t able to drink and swallow, so the medicine falls one drop at a time then gathered a flow of water and fell down from his mouth. Even she had tried twice, but not too much flew into his mouth.
It seems like he still has a hard time moving. Rain tried hard to swallow all of it, but fix nerves seemed to have solidified. Just what had happened? He thought he had been crippled, but the surging of energy slowly through his body made him reassured he was not.
“Sometimes, I wonder… why are you so nice to me…”
Rain said as he closed his eyes, feeling the change occurring inside his body.
Warm, and comfortable.
It was like being stranded in a blizzard and was slowly freezing in cold, but then suddenly a fire appeared beside him, warming him up—a feeling like that. But the flow is slow, and hence, his body has yet to have the ability to move.
Lafetti who was checking his complexion immediately notice that his face had already started to recover the glow of health. And even his breath recovered to normal and became more smooth. This made her more relieved. Was the medicine effective?
She didn’t know but whatever the case, she will make him drink it all.
“Because you deserve it,”
Lafetti replied.
She scooped another spoonful of the medicine and slowly poured it on his slightly open mouth.
What he gave her, no matter how small it is, it's something precious and irreplaceable. No matter what you say or mumble, it was music to her ears. When he breathed in his scent, she was in heaven. And when she gazed into his sky-blue eyes, an eternity wasn’t long enough.
She loved him so much sometimes it hurts. She let him drink the medicine spoon by spoon with the utmost care. However, suddenly she noticed, using a spoon and feeding him like this is slow, and there are many wastes. Her heart tightened. Cannot. All of this medicine will save him—it cannot be wasted!
Without hesitation, Lafetti put down the spoon, picked up the small bowl then took a sip and lean down to make his mouth open with her hands. And then she fed him mouth to mouth, the medicine flows into his mouth bit by bit. She gently blows to let the medicine slowly flow into his body.
Rain was surprised at first, but then accepted all of it. Though he doesn't understand the situation he was in, but he just thought that Lafetti was once again flirting with him. This was not different than she had done a few times before. With a smile, he opened his mouth obediently.
Immediately after, a kind of soft warmth with coolness flowed from his mouth into his body.
With new breath flowing in, he felt even more comfortable. And the warm stream flowing through his body at a turtle speed seemed to have been injected by chicken blood and increase in speed, reaching every part. Just then, he felt a string was broken in his heart. And Rain felt a surge of torrential comfortable warm feeling flowing through his veins and his consciousness blurred, weakening, and as he relaxed, he was drawn in by the drowsiness.
Rain chose not to struggle.
However, as he about to fell asleep, he said with a satisfied and loving smile.
“Lafetti, I love you,”
His voice was somewhat muffled and unclear but was very warm and gentle as it continued, “Thank you for everything.”
“And I love you too,”
Lafetti replied without hesitation.
However, Rain was already fast asleep. But that didn’t matter. She continued grooming his hair with her fingers and said in a low voice.
"Whoever hurts you in the future, I promise you… I will definitely make them regret it.”
She said with hatred flashing her face.
“No one can hurt you, no one can make you feel pain again…! No matter who they are, I will always protect you. Only I can do this. For you are mine.”
She traced her fingers on his partly opened lips, and dabbed it against the leaking medicine at the corner, raising it up, and placed it in her mouth.
Bitter…she never likes medicine…especially this one.
To think Rain would endure tasting such bitter medicine…her heart aches.
“I promise you…”
Never again would you be hurt… you’re safe with me.
She touched his bottom lip that looked swollen and puffy, touching it gently with her fingertip. And she leaned over, replacing her fingers with her lips.
… …
“Are you sure you’re okay now?”
Zarda stared at Rain with a worried expression.
“Well, more than okay, I’m feeling confused.”
Rain smiled wryly as he looks at his body that was now slightly different than before. Not only it was stronger, but he was also a bit taller, and slightly more muscular than he was ever.
According to Lafetti, Zarda, and the others, unlike his feminine figure from before, now he was slightly more bulky. With broad shoulders, bulging biceps, and corded muscles that greatly defined his chest and abs, he truly becomes quite masculine than before. Though not having as much exaggerated muscles, but more manly that swiped away his feminine build.
Every flex of his muscle means power. One could see some sort of tattoo on his body, coming from his back reaching his shoulders and upper arm. On each of his upper arms were tattoos of some sort of claws and from what Lafetti and the others said, it looked like a wolf. And guess what…
