V2 Chapter 18

“Hm?!”

Rain’s brows furrowed as he suddenly heard a voice. However, the voice seemed vague and almost non-existent—he struck the nearby Hobgoblin in the back of the head with the handle of his dagger, stunning it, and then lashed out his right leg for another Goblin that was recklessly charging. He then followed it with his other dagger, slashing its throat.

“Sylphy, is that you?” he asked.

The Goblin he had killed didn’t even get a chance to react before collapsing to the ground.

[Master, is something wrong?]

However, Sylphy replied with a bewildered tone.

“Did you just call me, just now?”

[I did not.]

Rain’s brows furrowed as he pulled back.

Was it just his misconception? He wondered, but he didn’t dwell on it too much because the Goblins once again charged at him with full power.

Charging forward with a violent, wild momentum, Rain lunged towards the closest monster. As he closed in, the dagger in his hand glowed slightly, and its sharp blade swiped across the throat of the Goblin, killing it instantly. Then, without stopping, he once again turned towards another target. He went on a rampage and swung his daggers at random.

The crowd of enemy Goblins around him was buried with one swing of his magic daggers. He had created a mountain of victims in just a few dozen seconds. At this moment, Laffeti who had been relieved from the annoying monsters look at Rain and smiled sweetly.

He felt her gaze and turned at her as well, “Leave this to me. Finish it quick,” he said.

“That’ll do,” Lafetti nodded her head, and without saying anything else, rushed towards the Goblin Champion who was battling Granite. She rushed straight into the two’s battle without slowing down and let out a loud, deafening cry, “Haaaaaaa!!!”

As she yelled, she swung her sword to the side. The Goblins who heard her loud cry turned into frogs that had been stared at by a snake, and could only standstill, waiting for their death.

After its vivid afterglow subsided, four and more monsters lay dead on the ground with matching wounds cutting evenly across their chests. Although they had been wearing armor, it had been as effective as paper before her strength.

After beheading another Goblin, Rain suddenly turned his back to it. Basically, he spun 180 degrees. He then planted his feet and squared his shoulders in the face of one of the charging monster. Then—something.

A scraping?

To his left ahead of him, a handful of pebbles skittered down a bare incline. Rain felt his muscles tensed, as a sense of danger assault him. However, he was still surrounded. Then an arrow whacked into his right shoulder, aiming at his blind spot, through the hardened leather clothes he was wearing.

Rain’s eyes narrowed as pain assaulted his mind. Immediately stopping, he endured the pain, and flicked his foot, put strength into his toes, and dodged to the side of the fast-approaching Goblin Elite.

Gnashing his teeth, he viciously stabbed his dagger into its body. Afterward, he staggered backward, grimacing in pain as his hand went to the arrow, raising his head, looking hard at the skein of a rise in the rocks—a burly Hobgoblin holding a beautiful, but somewhat ancient-looking bow—it must have been an Artifact.

The monster has a burly physique and feral expression. The monster was wearing a striking dull red tunic with grey outer garments and armor, much better than the other Goblins. It was obviously a cut above the normal monsters.

Perhaps, this monster is even comparable in status to the Goblin Champion, judging from the Goblins surrounding it, as if guarding it protectively. Nevertheless, it’s far weaker than a Goblin Champion. That, Rain is certain.

A scar seared his face, across from right down to left. It then opened its mouth in an expression that was a part snarl, a part smile of triumph, showing sharp, shark jaw-like teeth. Although these Goblins are weak, numbers are still an advantage. What’s even worse, is that among them, there are also several elites, including the Goblin Champion.

Rain sneered in contempt at the Goblin Archer’s smug expression that he knows would never last. He pulled at the arrow’s shaft. Though the barbed head, which was obviously coated with poison, snagged on the hard leather clothes he was wearing. It had only penetrated his leather clothes, and the point had scarcely penetrated his flesh.

Although it looked simple, Rain’s clothing was harder than even steel and much better than normal metal armor. It was made by Miyabila from the highest class of materials, including the two-headed Swamp Crocodile after all. It’s nothing a simple arrow could pierce.

Even still, Rain’s face darkens. It’s a paralyzing poison. And it’s so strong! Rain felt his body somewhat numbed, However, fortunately, he had quite a high resistance to poison, and it somehow reduced the poison efficacy. But it will surely obstruct his movements.

The second delay in reaction would be fatal in a fight. He snapped the arrow’s shaft off and threw it aside. As he did so, he saw dozens of armed Goblins approached, and surrounded the Hobgoblin Archer, as if protecting him. They are all similarly dressed, spears and swords ready. They are really endless!

Without hesitation, Rain disappeared from his position using [Blink], while a second after; numerous poisoned arrows struck his former position. He reappeared just above the Goblin Archer, took out an Antidote Potion, and drank it without any hesitation.

Despite not knowing what kind of poison it was, but Sarete’s Antidote Potion was a fourth tier Antidote Potion and can eliminate a wide variety of poisons. And he was not mistaken.

Immediately after, Rain felt a comfortable sensation assaulting him from head to toe, and even the numbing sensation immediately disappeared as if it was an illusion.

Looking at the fearless Goblin Archer looking around for him, Rain felt rage boiling within him. The familiar sensation of wanting to turn into a wolf once again assaulted him. But he endured it, as although he would become extremely strong in his wolf form, but he still wants to fight in a human form. Besides, this way, he can also hone and sharpen his Martial skills and abilities, unlike when he turned into a big wolf.

Rain made quite an effort to calm down his raging inner wolf, and it took him quite a bit of energy to do it. He then flashed his dagger and was about to assassinate the Goblin Archer, but suddenly his eyes widened in shock, as the Goblin Archer suddenly swung his arms, its hand holding a very sharp bone-like dagger.

Rain immediately pulled back his hand and tilted his head reflexively, before somersaulting away. Looking at the Goblin Archer, it’s response should be due to instinct. But still, what kind of wild beast it was to be able to sense him? He should have reined his aura properly.

Under the panic crowd, Rain landed at the center of the group, just beside the Goblin Archer. The moment his toes had touched the ground, his legs sweep from either side and blew all the monsters around him.

The Hobgoblin Archer turned towards Rain with a surprised expression, but it immediately snaps out of its shock and turned its bow towards him. Up close, Rain can finally see the monster’s equipment. Indeed, it looks beautiful, like a bow covered by fish scales, or perhaps in this sense, a dragon’s scale?

But what caught his attention the most was its quiver.

The small quiver strapped behind the Goblin Archer was empty, but when the Goblin Archer placed his hand inside the quiver, an arrow actually generated.

It seems like the quiver is also a magic item—

Rain felt the heat on his cheek, and saw a red line, leaking some blood. He should have evaded the strike, but to think it still wounded him.

He frowned, and then saw the arrow flying towards him, and immediately jumped back—but he was surprised to see the arrow exploding like a bomb going off the moment it had hit the ground, and the rock debris and dirt flew towards him, even knocking him back due to the shockwave it had caused.

To think that his arrow could even do something like that? But doesn’t it use poison just now? Does this mean that quiver still has some incredible magical abilities?!

But I don’t think that bow is simple as well. Just where did these monsters get these artifacts from?

Rain stepped back, stabilizing himself from the knockback effect. But at this moment, the monsters had charged towards him. His eyes narrowed and his azure cold eyes flashed with thick murderous intent.

Charging forward quickly, Rain lunged towards the closest monster. As he closed in, the dagger in his hand glowed slightly, and its sharp blade swiped across the throat of the Goblin.

He deftly controlled the threads coming out from the tips of his fingers as if they were a part of him. The threads spread across the area, coiling around each and every Goblins that unluckily came upon it. the charging goblins, in just a blink of an eye, became wrapped dumplings, crawling on the ground. With a cold grin, Rain followed his attack with Bone Spikes, skewering the restricted monsters to death.

“It seems like it would end soon. But still, I hate the smell of this place,”

As he muttered that with a frown, he disappeared from his position.

To fly in the air.

No, not flying. He was pulling himself upwards, using one of the threads that stuck itself on the ceiling, as an anchor. His toe touched the air, and as if there was an invisible platform, he suddenly kicked against it, and his body moved with an incredible elegance as he walked in the air—move the strength flowing within your body down to your legs, then move as if you were walking up some stairs… this is the fundamentals of Qing Gong…!

Rain swiftly and gracefully dodged the thrown spears, arrows and magic as he runs in the air. And then, the moment he had landed in the ground with a soft thud.

“Agility EX!”

Instantly, he activated his skill. His speed immediately doubled. Using the skill, he sped from the center of the horde of Goblins. While flying through the air, he continued to control the threads.

“You reek so much, it’s disgusting!”

The monsters that were charging without care, suddenly felt a chilling voice ringing in their ears. Cold and sudden, the voice overflowing with murderous aura as though a demonic hand was tightly gripping their necks from the edge of darkness. It was as though a deadly poisonous and cold-blooded snake was biting their necks, causing them to shudder. Then, he thrust his hand and fired a Lightning Bolt.

Boooom!

The Goblins didn’t know what hit them as they were sent flying.

Rain who was slaughtering the Goblins, making his way towards the Goblin Archer, suddenly noticed a creepy feeling. When he raised his head, he saw the damnable Goblin Archer knocking an arrow and was aiming at him.

However, his [Blink] skill can only teleport him within five to six meters, and it wouldn’t cover the distance between him and the enemy. Without any choice, Rain twirled the dagger in his right hand and throws it towards the Monster.

“Giyaaaaah!!”

The knives that he threw accurately stabbed through the Goblin Archer’s arms, causing it to let out a painful cry. With hidden weapon level 3 mastery, everything could be thrown accurately. However, with Rain nothing on his hand, the Goblins once again charged, their fighting spirit ignited as if they have been injected by chicken blood.

To this, Rain only snorted coldly. His left hand ignited in flames, while his right hand crackled in lightning. He leapt in the air, with amazing lightness, and then aimed his two palms—Fireball and Lightning Bolt rained down from the sky. It was then followed by a series of explosions.

“Agaroth!”

Rain flexed his arms and from his wrists, his two lean, black, deadly hidden-blades sprang.

“Awooooooh!!!” he howled.

Like a wild beast that had been freed from constraints, Rain burst out in power and ferocity that even Lafetti and the others, never expected. They, who had been pushing the Goblin Champion back, winning, turned towards his direction. They felt the power that Rain emitted and felt amazed.

“That’s my Rain,”

Lafetti grinned, and her long tail whipped, hitting the Goblin Champion’s chest, knocking it away. If not for the Goblin's unnatural toughness, it would have been killed long ago. Just that, the Goblin Champion is like an undead, able to stand up again and again.

Rain’s strength seemed to be higher than what they had known previously. Although they had known about his monstrous speed, to think it was this monstrous… he should be just a Lv1 or 2, at that, but his power and even his aura seemed to be comparable to that of a 3rd Level among human warriprs at least. In fact, he seemed to be even stronger than that. Perhaps, give him a year or two; he might actually surpass them in an instant.

—Strong.

No, there was something in his fighting that could not accurately be described by the word “strong”. Something that transcended measuring scales like power or speed, and left like it went into a .

As someone who is strong herself, and had also seen many strong people fights before, including her sisters, Lafetti still couldn’t put that something into words. But if she had to express them, it would probably be as a feeling that everything was optimized.

Unlike Drova who prioritizes style and techniques, Granite with her brutish strength, Stagna who depends on accuracy and prediction, Rain seemed to be different.

Excessiveness was eliminated from all his movements, hence his techniques were quick and his attacks were heavy, no matter which angle he takes. It’s as if, everything has been properly and accurately planned before he had made that move. In short, it’s as if he had seen the future, and made a necessary arrangement to counter that said future. Watching him fight was like a choreographed dance, where he was taking the lead.

It was beautiful…mesmerizing.

Lafetti could understand why Drova likes fighting with Rain. As even if the latter was still weak, and lose against her always, still she has many things she could learn from their exchange.

It’s not just Rain learning from her, but she as well was learning something. Aspects, and angles in a battle she had never thought of, much less considered before.

Now, not only Lafetti and Granite, even Scarlet who was constantly watching Rain from afar seemed to be motivated by him and their auras spiked as well.

Rain narrowed his wolf-like eyes, and icy cold glow of murder flashed within then. Bracing himself, he deflected the first blow, then whirled, and with two clean movements sliced through the hafts of the nearest spears, seizing the spearhead of one as it flew through the air before it could fall to earth; and taking the stump of its haft in his fist, he stabbed the sharp spear blade in the chest of its former owner.

He was like a loach among the Goblin Horde, wriggling freely. Meanwhile, there were dead bodies collapsing all over every spot that he passed. A flicker of fear flashed through the monster's eyes right at the moment that they witnessed the terrifying speed of his assault.

But as expected of monsters made by the Dungeon itself, if they are the normal beings, they would have turned around by now, and fled. But the monsters inside this dungeon don’t seem to know fear, and still stupidly charge at him, not fearing for their life.

But what is this sense of displacement?

The monsters doesn't seemed to be ending, nor at least reduced... just how many Goblins are in this Dungeon?

In just a blink of an eye, the other monsters closed in on him, and Rain was just in time to stoop slowly as a rush of air signaled the passage of a swung pike as it sickled over him, missing his bent back by an inch. He swung round savagely and with his left-hand hidden-blade hacked deep into the chest of the Goblin who’d stood behind him.

With an agonizing cry, the Goblin went down. Rain then seized the fallen spear, which a moment earlier had almost struck him, and swiveled it round in the air, stabbing the chest of another of his enemies.

Rain’s violent, and wild attacks stopped the monsters from charging for a moment, but these monsters are so stupid they didn’t care, and he had only a second’s respite before they were closing again.

This is really weird!

This sense of being inside an illusion... why do I feel like this?

Rain swung the spear again and left its blade deep in the neck of a Hobgoblin who, an instant before, had been moving in for the kill. He then let go of its pole and retracted his hidden-blades in one action in order to free his hand s to seize a Goblin wearing an armor, placing it in front of him, which in time, had blocked the incoming arrows that’s should have made his body a porcupine.

Suddenly, it exploded, and blood, guts, and flesh, as the arrow had once again burst into an explosion. Rain was covered by blood and guts, and the explosion knocked him out a few steps. He turned towards the Goblin Archer—this bastard really needs to die fast!

The monster saw Rain stumbled and immediately rushed in for the kill. However, even if Rain was disgruntled from the explosion, it doesn’t mean it’s easy to be killed.

His magic power spread from his toe and to the ground, and immediately after, those who came rushing were skewered by dozens of meter-long Bone Spikes that had appeared from the ground. Painful wails and cries echoed in the entire area. Rain then swung his hand and invisible wind blades struck the still alive, but barely Goblins that continued to groan amidst the forest of spears.

He plucked his hidden-blade from the dead body and sent the corpse flying with a kick, then from his waist, he pulled several small ordinary-looking daggers out and threw them straight at the other Goblins. It landed in their chest and pierced their hearts.

“Again?!”

He raised his head and saw the arrows once again making an arc in the air, and his expression fell. Then, he disappeared. Rain is truly fed up with the Goblin Archer. This bastard is truly annoying!

Rain landed at the center of a disgruntled group of Goblins and instantly killed them before once again running towards the Goblin Archer. The moment the Goblin Archer saw him charging at him with a ferocious expression, instead of running away, he grabbed three arrows and notched them to his bow, shooting them all at the same time with a whistling sound.

They flew fiercely towards his forehead, back, and thigh. Another wall of flames suddenly formed in the direction that Rain was dashing in, blocking off his escape and forcing him to take a long way around. Otherwise, he would be hard-pressed to escape the funeral pyre of the flaming walls.

Another Goblin Mage?!

Rain’s eyes narrowed in annoyance. There’s not only one Goblin Mage but two. They stand behind the Goblin Archer while wearing tattered robes that seemed to be bigger than they are.

At the same time as the appearance of the Goblin Mages, two Goblin Warriors wearing full armor and better sword than normal Goblins appeared. From the auras emitting from their bodies, it seemed like they are also elites among the crowd.

They are really tenacious! Where are these goddamn monsters coming from?!

The two Goblin Warrior who had just landed, immediately took advantage of the situation to quickly approach with their long swords. They were only ten or so meters away from him.

Tilting his body, Rain once again changed directions and made for the right. He planned on circling past the firewalls and rush out onto the crowd of monsters. Several wind blades came whistling in, but it was all within his expectations.

The Hidden-blade in his hand moved swiftly as he cut away at five wind blades, along with the other Goblins that tried to sneak attack on him. However, three of them still drew across his thighs and arms.

Him, suffering three hits was under the circumstances of Rain knowing that the Goblin Mage who uses wind magic, had sent wind blades there earlier, otherwise if ten wind blades connected with his vitals, it would be likely that he would be unable to take another step forward.
