V2 Chapter 8
Rain turned towards his side and saw Lafetti, Granite, and Scarlet sleeping soundly.
At first, he was teaching them about what he had learned from the book, but in the middle of it, they gradually lost interest. Unfortunately, he and the others realized that the Body Cultivation Method is not for demi-humans, but instead for humans only.
This is the result of his examination of their bodies.
Demi-humans, including Lamians and Antmen had a different set, numbers, and positions of meridians inside their bodies. Therefore, the Body Cultivation would only mess with their bodies instead, rather than helping them if ever they would try to cultivate it.
Knowing this, Lafetti and the other's interest in it disappeared. Well, not like it was something they would be desperate for. However, it was not a problem since it’s not like Rain’s inherited legacy didn’t have anything useful for them.
There are sets of martial arts that he can pass to them. And besides, he was certain that as long as he can raise his understanding of Cultivation, he would surely be able to create suitable body cultivation for them. But that would be set for later.
Following the method engraved inside his mind, Rain moved his leg and sat cross-legged. He then started the most basic practice.
In the future, he may need the support of a large amount of food more than usual, but for now, he would only need to practice the basic fundamentals.
His power mainly focused on his level, as the other people do in this world. Hence, he doesn’t really seek fast cultivating speed. Instead, he preferred steadily laying his foundation one step at a time.
Immediately after closing his eyes, he willed his Magic Power and circulates it inside his body in a peculiar manner. It was actually extremely hard to succeed, after all, with his chaotic magic power, it’s as if his magic power has its own will, and didn’t want to easily obey him at all. Fortunately, he had already acquired [Internal Mana Control] and [Mana Operation] and had raised their levels by 3 and 2 respectively. Hence, he was still able to control his Magic Power enough to make it flow inside his body the way he wanted.
Furthermore, with the help of the gemstone necklace pacifying his chaotic magic power, it was much smoother than he had expected.
The essence of [Heavenly Dragon Devouring World] is to transform the body into a divine weapon with amazing strength. Additionally, the [Heavenly Dragon Devouring World] also emphasizes techniques that utilize strength.
Its first layer of Strength Training is already far different from the norm. The [Heavenly Dragon Devouring World] requires not only the training of strength but also the training of precision, the control over the amount of strength used. Once major comprehension is achieved, one would be able to use their palm to turn a tree trunk into fine fibers!
According to the memories he has, there was one strict condition if one wished to cultivate this skill, and that was one must start from the beginning.
Rain was still only in the 1st level now, having yet transcended, and reaching the 2nd level. He was at a good point to cultivate with the [Heavenly Dragon Devouring World] skill. And there was no fear of resetting his power level to zero just to recreate his foundation.
The [Body Refining Method] was a Cultivation Technique known as the most basic of basics, the foundation for all Cultivation including Inner Cultivation, Weapon Mastery, and Footwork.
By learning this technique one could train both the ‘outside’ and ‘inside’ of the body.
It first transformed one’s body by expelling the body’s impurities, strengthening the muscles, and hardening the bones and joints. And then, it opened up the channels for mana to flow, bringing about a natural harmony between the body and mind. Therefore, the Body Refining Technique would become one’s most solid foundation for learning different cultivation skills, if and only if one could master it.
However, the only problem that cultivator has for it, even those people who had also tried before, was that this particular technique might be the basis of the basics, but it takes too much time to master. And thus, this was also the reason why many young warriors were reluctant to learn this technique a long time ago.
They’d rather cultivate other Qi Techniques and skills that were easy to learn and would make them stronger in a shorter period. Furthermore, because of the nature of this world, in ancient times, the people relied upon strengthening and enhancing their physiques by increasing their level. Hence, its value fell down even more among practitioners.
And to make matters worse, since most imitated cultivation techniques were created based on the Body Refining Technique, even among the known Qi Mastery Techniques that relied on inner force, the basic teachings of it were also included in other cultivation techniques which were more efficient and powerful. So even after its creation, the [Body Refining Technique] was considered to be an inferior, basic manual.
But Rain knew after inheriting the legacy from the book. Even though it would take a lot of time to establish one’s foundation, a body that was honed with the proper Body Refining Method could take in other Cultivation Skills and Techniques very quickly and naturally.
Though, only if one was patient enough, and reached a certain degree of mastery on it. in any case, if one wanted to become really strong, cultivating a proper Body refining Method was the correct way to do it. And it would also give one a chance to break through the limit, or shackles placed upon by the Gods to the mortals, and become a True God.
As for this ambition, Rain was not really interested in it for the time being as it was still too far away for him. And besides, he wasn’t that foolishly optimistic that he was such a special being that he would be able to reach that stage.
If hard work and talent are enough to become a God, then, in the passing years of history many would have made it. And even if not, at least, once in a hundred years, a God would have been born. But there was no such thing. Clearly, it was nigh impossible for it to achieve.
Rain only wanted to become stronger. And also to increase his strength. That is already enough for him for now.
He organized the knowledge he had obtained from the book inside his head. Although he can understand some of the words, most were actually still incomprehensible for the current him. Even those he had understood, he had understood, he only has a rough comprehension of them. If one used an analogy, he had only roughly understood at least, 4-5% of the overall knowledge inside his head. Making the remaining 95% completely incomprehensible.
Nevertheless, Rain was not in a hurry, as he was certain that he would be able to understand them as time goes by. And besides, the knowledge is just stored inside his mind, never be able to forget them, even if he wanted to. Furthermore, the always reliable Sylphy had already stored this very important knowledge in a special place, where he can easily tap it whenever and wherever he wanted it.
‘Having more content is not necessarily better. Creating a large and robust vessel is a must before filling it in. In my case, the content would be mana, and the vessel would be my body, and the magic veins are the straw, or rather the scoop to take the amount you need. The bigger the straw the larger the amount you can get at the same time.’
For Rain, who had only been thinking solely about the amount of mana, and had assumed that the larger the mana pool you have, the stronger, and epic magician you will become—a mindset he had even before when he had awakened, the teachings written in the [Body Refining Method] were eye-opening.
‘It makes sense. After all, before I had been awakened, all I thought was to use magic, create cool and epic spells, and become an incredible magician with an enormous mana pool. Only after awakening did I realize that I was actually digging my own pit, not understanding the true concept of magic.’
Of course, he was not wrong as well.
Even Zarda and the others affirmed that having a large amount of mana is very beneficial for a magician. In fact, most people, especially mages wanted to obtain it, that enormous mana pool like he has, just still beyond their reach.
However, if your body harbors too much mana it could take, it would become difficult to control it, and might even cause death. The Magic Power inside your body going out of control and destroying you from within.
In the history of the world, many people had lost their lives because of it. Of course, not naturally, but people who desired having enormous mana pool to become strong, and applying forbidden techniques and skills to achieve it, only, in the end, die because of their greed.
Well, having to use a forbidden technique, and causing a negative effect on the body, has its own cause to their death as well.
However, nevertheless, before trying to obtain an enormous amount of magic power, one must develop an enhanced one's body first, which was always the correct, and safest way.
As Rain thought about his mistakes, he too started to begin his first step to cultivation. The scripts of the Heavenly Dragon Devouring World skill had been engraved inside his mind. Hence, with a single thought mentally, those miraculous scripts started appearing in his mind.
Closing his eyes, he recited the Heavenly Dragon Devouring World silently. After a few moments of repeating the Heavenly Dragon Devouring World’s script and circulates his magic power in a peculiar manner inside his Magic Veins, he felt a bountiful magic power momentarily burst into his body from all directions!
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Boom!
All of the meridians in his body surprisingly completely opened at this moment. Rain’s whole body all of the sudden became wrapped up in Magic Power. This feeling was wonderfully indescribable!
The meridians in his whole body were like river beds that had been dry for several years, and suddenly they were flowing with water. Furthermore, the moment the meridians inside his body opened one after another, the flow of his Magic Power became even smoother than before. And an intense life force emitted in almost an instant!
He felt refreshed, as all the negative energy around him seemed to have disappeared. Slowly, the world’s magic power started flowing into his limbs and bones while nourishing his body. Like a feeling as if you are so cold, beseeched by the chilling winter, and you have found a hot spring in the middle of nowhere.
The moment you submerge your entire body within the water, a comfortable heat immediately passed through, as if you are being embraced inside your mother’s womb. The accumulation speed of magic power in his body was astonishing. The magic power became all the more abundant in the Magic Veins all over his body following the implementation of the methods.
A steady stream converged around his abdomen, spreading comfortable warmth throughout his body.
And this was obviously felt by Rain. The excitement in his heart at this moment was simply indescribable.
… …
An hour had passed.
Even Lafetti and the others had started waking up, but Rain was still meditating. They couldn’t help but stare at him with curious and interested expressions, but they didn’t dare disturb him. They had heard from him that disturbing him when he was doing something like this would greatly disturb his spirit, and might even cause his magic power to run out of control. They just stayed beside him, and continued to guard him, in case, monsters showed up.
Though, for some reason, ever since they came into this room, there have been no monsters showing up.
Two hours later, Rain finally stopped meditating and started to emit a milky foul air from his nose. Right after that, he felt that his whole body became fresh and he felt carefree as even the soreness of his body disappeared. When he opened his eyes, a bright ray of light flashed across his eyes and then immediately dimmed to nothing.
“So this is the cultivation of a warrior, fascinating.”
He looked at his fist and with just a little strength, a crackling sound full of energy sounded out.
Though, it was still the beginning. Furthermore, he had not even received a notification that he had received the skill [Body Refining Technique] just like what it should have been, the moment he had successfully laid the foundation inside his body.
It means he still needed to practice a few times before successfully receiving the skill, which would be the first step of the Body Refining Method. Even still, the speed of his practice seems to be faster as compared to his memories.
He was certain of that as he can now feel the effect of it.
“How is it, Rain?”
Rain turned towards Lafetti who was looking at him with a faint smile, mixed with curiosity.
“I think it’s okay… but I might need more time to consolidate my foundation,” he said.
He opened his status screen to see if there is any change in it.

Looking at his physical attributes, all of it actually increased by 5 points in one go. And even his Magic Power increased by 10 points. It seems like the first practice resulted better than expected.
One must know, with his current physical abilities, even increasing by one point even after training heavily for a month was an impossibility for a normal human.
To them, it would need at least a year or two to increase their physical attributes—as the higher their physical attributes were, the harder it is to increase as well.
Even Rain who can increase his attributes by eating monster's flesh is starting to see the limit. More and more food is required just to increase by one point. But to think he would be able to increase his physical attributes this way—hm, as expected, this is already a testament of the Cultivation’s power!
Rain was very pleased. And the more he examined himself, the more he was ecstatic, as he suddenly found himself somewhat different from before.
As if he had drowned himself in calcium, he clearly perceived that his bones were full of vitality, much more compared to before. A surge of energy, filled with warmth, slowly circulated inside and outside, his body.
Moving slightly, the bones burst out a crystal-clear sound. Making it seem like a melody being played.
Aware of this, Rain quickly rolls up his sleeves and opened his clothes. Looking closely, he found that his body no longer had any dirt or scars accumulated through fighting and training. They had actually all disappear; even those old wounds were healed. Feeling as unblemished as a newborn baby!
Rubbing the places that previously held wounds, dead skin fell. This revealed the new tender skin underneath, like a baby’s, but far healthier.
Rain only increased his physical attributes by 5 to 10 points. Although smaller than expected, he was not the least bit disappointed. He knows that increasing his physical attributes is not important, but instead stabilizing and strengthening his foundation.
In his life, up until now, he had accumulated many impurities within his body. Impurities that might not be noticeable but actually very dangerous. These impurities weaken his body as time passed by. But as he continued his Body Cultivation, his body would slowly disperse these impurities out of his body. And if that happened, he would become even stronger in the near future!
The greatest purpose of Body Cultivation is cleansing one’s body from any kind of impurities!
And this is the most important!
This is like reconstructing his foundation and strengthening it even more. To most people, this kind of thing is almost impossible, no, rather already nigh impossible. Magical objects, Tonics, Elixirs, and treasures that could do the same were very rare and hardly one can even encounter them.
One such sacred treasures in this world are the so-called [Phoenix Tears] in legends, that can strengthen, improved, and washed over one's body to purify it, and sweeping away all kinds of sickness, illnesses... and even age, turning one even younger.
But the so-called [Phoenix Tears] is only seen in Legends.
In the first place, no one had seen a Mythical Bird; [Phoenix] for over a hundred years already.
But this so-called Cultivation can actually give similar effects on your body- this alone is enough to make this a precious skill, one that doesn't lose even to a high-grade magic skill.
But I shouldn't be the only one basking in this happiness... Lafetti and the others, I would surely help them experience this bliss as well.
Rain vowed to himself that he would surely create a Body Cultivation that Lafetti and the others can use. If the people of the Ancient Times can do it, why can't he do the same? Not to mention, he had a reference book in his hand.
He made this goal one of the top priorities of his life. After all, with the body being purified to such extent, this skill also gave an unexpected effect of increasing lifespan. Much more than a simple increase of level could give!
"How is it, Rain? Is there some difference?"
Lafetti also observed Rain just now. What made her astonished was that his eyes were very clear, as though the eyes of a newborn child with no impurity in them; of which she had never seen before.
Although Rain has beautiful eyes before, which Lafetti greatly loved. But this time, it was more than that. Although it was the same as before, now, his gentle smile and gaze are already enough to set people at ease. His expression could give others, be it human, monsters or demi-humans alike, a hard to express in words closeness. And that gentle smile always hanging on his face make anyone who looks at him feel at ease.
But now, it was more than that. Lafetti felt puzzled by this sudden change. And besides, although she can’t understand what truly changed on him, she was certain that he did. In fact, if she wasn't so familiar with him, she might have assumed this was another person in front of her.
“Is there a flower on my face?”
Seeing Lafetti staring at his face, although he was already accustomed to it, still being stared at like that makes him embarrassed.
“No, it’s nothing,”
Lafetti thought for a while then shook her head.
“However, why don’t you tell me what feels now? Did anything change? Did your strength increase?”
“About that,”
Rain’s eyes sparkled and he started narrating them about his experiences and also the increase in his physical attribute.
