Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Danger!

When he noticed it, Rain immediately jumped aside with all his might. The place where he was just at a moment ago exploded like a cannonball had just struck it. It gouged out the ground as it detonated. Rain rolled while the earth rumbled, and stopped with his backside on the ground. Then, with a flip, he immediately retreated from the epicenter with a pale face. His eyes are wide in shock and even his hands and legs trembling in fear.

The fuck! The fuck! The fuck!!!!

Wh-What the f*ck was that!?

Rain couldn’t help but cursed out, however, even though his mouth was flapping like the mouth of a fish, no voice came out. His throat seemed somewhat dry as fear surge through him. Shit! If he was late even by a minute!!

[Master, are you okay?!]

“Sylphy you bastard!! Can’t you warn me in advance?! I, I thought I would die!!”

[I’m sorry, Master. But even I am not knowledgeable about all the monsters in the world. Super strong ones, I might be able to recognize them in an instant. However, those who are insignificant, they eluded me at all… I still need to check the monsters in the information I can access, to know about them, and even then, there were hundreds and thousands of variety…]

“Jeez, this da… aaah, damn it!! I thought my heart would stop!”

Rain that was still angry wanted to curse at her, but then suddenly realized. Indeed, this was not her fault at all. In fact, it was his fault, you know…

After all, he should have known by now that there can’t be any normal monsters in this place! And yet, he forgets about that, no, he actually ignored that notion just because of its appearance!

Hence, he can only curse at himself.

Rain gnashed his teeth in frustration. Because of his stupidity, his life had almost reached Game Over. Rain was so ashamed that he felt like digging a hole and hiding inside. If Lafetti knows about this, would not she become a demon and punished him heavily, and perhaps he would even be put in a cage for acting rashly?

“An, anyway, do you have any information about this fucking adorable monsters that I really wanted to make a stew out of at this moment?!”

[Negative. With my current level, there are basically little to none information I could access. However, it seems to be a native monster only inhabiting the Monster Lair. Lightning Rabbit Lv2. Skills: [Lightning Strike] [Lightning Speed] Danger Difficulty: D rank]

Hearing Sylphy’s answer, Rain felt someone poured cold water on his body.

That cute rabbit was?!

What’s even worse, is that it has incredible skills that only cheat protagonist would have?!

No, it’s a lie!!!

A large amount of cold sweat streamed down on Rain’s face. The once cute rabbit but now became a very terrifying demon turns its head like a machine that wasn’t oiled to the sound. Its ruby red eyes then narrowed as it caught sight of Rain. Its adorable appearance was now like that of a demon with a gruesome aura around it, and seemingly an oni mask appearing behind it.

Scary…

[Master! Watch out!!]

As Rain prepared himself to fight against the adorable rabbit. Suddenly, his senses tingled and with Sylphy’s warning, Rain dived into his right side, an explosion occurring on his original position. Rain gritted his teeth, as pain stabbed into his head. His leg was bleeding as he rolled in the ground. His evasion was late, and something scratches his leg. Rain bit his lips, enduring the pain as he turned around to look at the culprit that suddenly sneaks attack him. That is…?!

Rain’s expression stiffened.

There, a moving scary plant was moving around, and one of its tentacle-like branches has blood dripping on it. Though, only for a moment as the blood was seemingly absorbed by the branch as it immediately disappeared. This freaking…!!?

Seeing the scary plant that was almost as tall as him, Rain thought that it looked extremely ugly. Its appearance looked almost like those man-eating flower monsters that usually appeared in games.

The flower only had two petals that looked like a beast’s mouth, with hundreds of sharp teeth inside. It looked extremely scary. He could see a green and slimy looking liquid inside the flower that smelled very bad. Looks like it was a type of poison as the moment it drips on the ground, a sizzle rang out as if something acidic dropped.

Other than the flower petals that looked like a beast’s mouth, this monster plant was filled with thorns all over its body. It truly is a terrifying plant!

[Master, that’s a Poison Ivy!]

[Poison Ivy Lv2. Skill: [Poison Spit] [Thorny Whip] [Root Spikes] [Nutrition]. Danger Level: D++]

Rain didn’t have the time to feel despair as he noticed the ground under the Poison Ivy shook and sharp root-like tentacles came out just a few inches away from him. Rain immediately jumped back.

Lafetti’s training had displayed its glory, as Rain’s reflex was much better and higher than before he came into this world. Still, Rain was not relaxed as when he leaps into the air, a golden flash appeared in front of him and the adorable rabbit that he couldn’t help but hate swung its legs at him.

“Harden!”

Rain realized he couldn’t dodge in time and braced himself, crossing his two arms in front of his chest. Baaang!! As expected, even with [Harden] skill, Rain still felt as if a car had rammed on his body. He crashed on the ground, causing a cave-in on a tree and he felt his bones breaking in that impact.

He spouted a mouthful of blood and his vision turned blurry. Just from that one attack, he almost lost his consciousness from the pain.

He could hear Sylphy’s anxious screams inside his head. However, he bit his tongue and rolled on the ground. He noticed a golden flash; a lightning bolt struck the tree he crashed into, burning into a charcoal. Damn rabbit!! Does it know martial arts?! Oi, oi don’t even joke about it!! He never hated Rabbit more than today!

Were they helping each other…? That’s what worried Rain the most. However, when he suddenly saw the scene in front of him, his complexion became better. The white Rabbit couldn’t follow up on the attack it had made because it was busy dodging the Plant Ivy. Though, as expected of a plant monster, it’s intelligence is worrying. It only attacks those in front of it, or rather, those closer from it.

If it could think, it would have made Rain as a priority to kill due to the difference in strength between them. And besides, Rain was already heavily injured at this point. Although he didn’t want to admit, if the Plant Ivy has brains, it would surely try to kill him first, and he would surely die in an instant.

Rain grit his teeth due to the pain on his leg and some broken bones. Shit! Rain noticed the white Rabbit turning towards him, and now was rushing at his direction, all the while bringing the Plant Ivy.

Seeing this, Rain immediately grabbed a Chocolate Bar on his pocket and ate it. One… twice… after two bites, the pain on his body and the wounds were already fading and even his wound had stopped bleeding, though it had yet to completely closed.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

With a remaining half a bar, Rain put it back on his pocket and raised his palm, slamming it on the ground.

“Damn you, beast!! Don’t look down on me!! [Bone Spikes]!!”

When the Rabbit was almost within the three-meter range, Rain activated his skills and bone-like spikes came out from the ground. However, as expected of the Rabbit, it was still a beast. It immediately felt danger and change its direction, evading most of the Bone Spikes. Even still, two Bone Spikes hit it successfully. One in the abdomen while another scratching its right hind leg.

The Bone Spikes lasted three seconds due to its low-level before disappearing—really, how the Bone Spikes created eluded Rain. But that’s not what matters right now.

If it only lasted even two seconds more, the Plant Ivy would have finished the white Rabbit with its Root Spikes!

Sadly, the Rabbit was much better in evasion and dodging than Rain. The White Rabbit, feeling danger from behind it, immediately turned into lightning and disappeared, leaving only a puddle of blood.

However, this time, the Plant Ivy turned its attention towards Rain.

“Tsk—! Damn you, rabbit!! I’m surely going to eat you today!!”

Activating his [Agility Ex] Rain’s speed becomes faster. Although it was not as fast as the White Rabbit’s [Lightning Speed], it was still much faster than the Plant Ivy’s thorny whips and poison spits. He was still able to dodge all of them.

The bones Rain seemed to have broken and even the leg that was still wounded still ached but he did not have the luxury to wait for it to completely heal. He invokes his [Stealth] and disappeared from his position, causing the Poison Ivy to stop, confused as to where its target was.

Rain stealth only last for five seconds with its current level, and it can only fool a brainless plant monster, but not the troublesome horrifying rabbit.

Crackle!!

Rain clicked his tongue in frustration as he could only break away from his stealth mode, quickly dodging to his right; he managed to evade the rabbit’s incoming lightning strike. The White Rabbit, whose red eyes seemed to be even redder, perhaps it was extremely angry at Rain and wanted to kill him. After all, Rain had managed to successfully injure it, also immediately changed the direction of its charge in response to his evasion.

However, at this time, the Plant Ivy that he was able to move once again caught sight of him and immediately pursued him. Damn it! What bad luck! The plant running with its root was an extremely strange sight. But the mouth-like flower drooling with acid and spitting poison at him was much horrifying.

Rain gnashed his teeth, and this time, rather than escaping, it was his turn to take the initiative and he leaped towards the white rabbit.

Like a sudden gust of wind, he dashed towards it at full speed. He then grabbed several bone spikes he had sharpened beforehand and threw three at them at the rushing white rabbit. However, the latter easily avoided it with its quick speed.

The white rabbit growled at him and met his charge head-on. Its leg sweeping at his face, but Rain had already predicted it would attack him and slashed his sword upward.

Rain immediately used [Power Strike] and [Dash Thrust]!

Blood spurted, as the tattered short sword, he had obtained from a killed goblin cut down its belly.

The white rabbit let out a shriek. It can actually scream? then scream!! You demonic bastard, I’ll cut you into pieces.

Seeing Rain’s demonic expression and fury, the white rabbit panic and suddenly become scared. Disregarding its wounds, it jumped up to avoid his slash and caught onto an overhanging tree branch. It performed a somersault and nimbly landed on top of the tree branch.

At this time, Rain charged at the tree, stomp his right foot, invoke [Leap] and used the force it made to somersault in the air—barely dodging the root spikes that came behind him. His jumping power increased by almost double.

That was close…completely close. However, it was already under Rain’s calculation. During its fight with the white rabbit just now, Rain had more or less able to ascertain some things. The speed of the Plant Ivy is slow. Between, him, the Lightning Rabbit and the Poison Ivy, the latter was the slowest while obviously, the Lightning Rabbit was the fastest.

Even if Rain used his [Agility Ex] in the fight, he can barely contend against the Lightning Rabbit, and that is already without it using his [Lightning Speed] skill, meaning only its normal speed.

As for the Poison Ivy’s [Thorny Whip], it can reach up to four meters in length, while [Root Spikes] up to three meters.

Meaning, as long as he was beyond at least four meters away from it, the Plant Ivy’s tentacle attacks cannot reach him. In the meantime, within that range, was its attack zone.

As for its ]Poison Spit], it was longer as it reached roughly five to six meters in flight before it slowly started losing its speed. However, it was slow, perhaps 8-9m/s speed?

Well, Rain was just guessing as he wasn’t a professional; even still he can still dodge them without a problem.

As long as he can take advantage of them, the Poison Ivy was not an extremely dangerous opponent. The more troublesome is the [Lightning Rabbit]. Although it has only two skills, they are much more troublesome than the Poison Ivy.

[Lightning Strike] can be used in every seven to nine seconds. Perhaps there is a cooldown on skills in this world?

In fact, he actually had one.

Almost all his skills have something like a cool down. After using them, he cannot use again after a period of time and the effect was also limited. It seems like Monsters also follow the same system.

Still, it didn’t lessen the danger. Once struck by it, even if he miraculously didn’t die, Rain would surely be incapacitated in an instant.

[Lightning Speed] on the other hand, has a much lower cooldown. Perhaps around four to five seconds, though it can only be used once. Something like a sudden blink with the range of four, five or six meters… Rain was not yet certain, but perhaps around that and less than eight meters. The Lightning Rabbit didn’t use this skill when it was more than eight meters away from him so he could only judge as such.

Fortunately, these monsters didn’t have passive abilities.

Rain sighs as he can see some chances of victory against his enemies.

According to Sylphy, in this world, there are two types of skills that one can use.

One is skills that continuously strengthen attributes and magic, the other is skills that active for a short period of time that produces a special effect when used. Rain dubbed them as [Passive] and [Active] skills.

Active skill is a skill that needs an action to trigger its effect, and possesses cooldowns, whereas the effects of passive skills, once acquired, are permanent. They are those that are never needed to trigger to invoke or wait for a period after using. They are always in effect the moment they were acquired.

Most of Rain's skills are [Active] skills, while there were only a few that were [Passive] such as; [Sylphy Systema] and [All-Language Comprehension]. As for [Sword Mastery] and [Unarmed Combat], they are considered as Semi-Active skills, due to the fact that aside from acquiring active skills such as [Power Strike] and the rest of the attack skills, these two skills also added additional attributes after acquiring it.

“I can do—”

“Gyaaaaaaaaa!”

As Rain had already calculated his path to victory, suddenly, the presence of something jumping out from the ground underneath him interrupted his words.

[Masterrr!!!]

Uneasiness appeared on Sylphy’s voice. Rain had already noticed it since the ground had somehow trembled and with his reflexes, he was able to jump backward, thinking that perhaps it’s another Poison Ivy? However, what came out in the ground, appearing in front of him, shock him to almost speechlessness.

It was a fucking worm!

It looks like a large earthworm but with a horrifying saw-like tooth that looks like a meat grinder.

Rain opened his palm, and bone-like sharp nails appeared on his fingers. Without hesitation, he slashed his claws towards it, causing blue goo-like blood, disgusting and smelly to blossom in the air. Rain ignored the smell and kicked the large earthworm that was squirming in pain from Rain’s attack.

When it faced Rain, angry—suddenly—

Booooom!!

A lightning bolt strikes it from behind.

The shockwave of the explosion crashed at Rain’s body, causing him to roll around the ground three times before stopping.

What the hell is wrong of this place?! Monsters appeared one after another. Rain immediately thought of turning around and retreating, when a familiar white rabbit appeared at the corner of his vision.

Damn Rabbit!! And here I thought of thanking you for a moment there!

But this white rabbit seemed adamant on killing him.

With such meaningless thought on his mind, Rain immediately used his [Harden] and [Agility Ex] that was already off-cooldown to fortify his defense and increase his agility. The skills immediately took effect in an instant. Rain’s perception became even faster with the [Agility Ex] effect, and he slashed the short sword at the charging small beast.

“…?!!” The Lightning Rabbit didn’t seem to not have expected Rain’s immediate response and it was late to dodge.

Furthermore, it had just used its [Lightning Speed hence, it couldn’t use for the time being. The next moment, the Lightning Rabbit’s body was penetrated by the short sword and then stopped moving after letting out its death agony.

After killing the abominable rabbit, Rain didn’t relax as he felt the ground trembled. He stood up and strike with a [Lashing Kick] as another large earthworm came from the ground beneath him. Then, finished it with a [Double Slash].

“Just how many are there?”

Rain furrowed his brows as he looks at the four to five large earthworms that came above ground, and even the Poison Ivy was slowly being pushed back.

[They are Ground Worms, Master. It looks like a large earthworm and is always hidden on the ground. It always appears at the timing when one is most lax, such as after combat to make a kill. Although most Ground Worms are just Lv1 Monsters and powerful skills aside from [Acid Spit] they are still considered troublesome due to their ambushing tactics and numbers. I advise Master to retreat!]

“Advice Accepted!”

Without hesitation, Rain grabbed the [Lightning Rabbit] bloody corpse and turned around and retreated. This is his great spoils of war. Even the Poison Ivy is getting eaten slowly by the large earthworms, god knows if he can kill them all even if they look weaker than the [Lightning Rabbit] and [Poison Ivy].

Dodging and killing every large earthworm that would pop out in his way, Rain desperately runs away.

Crack! At the twenty-second kill, Rain’s sword broken apart. However, he didn’t stop, using his claws and skills, he finally managed to get out the area of the Ground Worms. Though wounds and scratches could be seen on his body, and even his clothes have holes and cuts on it.

He was not bitten but the acid spraying from their mouths and bodies was completely terrifying.
