JohnWillEdge was locked up in the bottom room of the L.F.T.O base, a large basement with several cells designed to hold Bromy's creations.
"Guys... not cool..." JohnWillEdge sighed seeing the thick, reinforced walls around him and the massive iron bars before him.
In his cell was a shabby-looking albeit comfortable bed.
"Sorry about this, John, but you can't go knocking people out for no reason!" The Thief said handing the keys to Foxly who stood beside her.
"Now sit there and think about what you've done!"
Foxly placed the keys in his pocket.
A pile of straw served as a carpet in each of the eight cells, they were all shaped like semi-circles carved into the wall.
JohnWillEdge turned away so as to not face them and crossed his arms.
"Come on, don't be a baby about this..." Foxly sighed.
"I really want the old John back..." he added.
"Yeah..." the Thief agreed.
John let out an audible pout.
"Humph..."
A bright light filled the room, it came from a small lamp in the centre of the hall.
The Thief let out a sigh.
"This is for your own sake, dude! If you got a reputation like this you'd be complaining to us for not stopping you!" the Thief exclaimed.
Foxly looked at her awkwardly.
"He... doesn't have much of a reputation..." he explained.
The Thief raised an eyebrow.
"Infamy might be a better word..." he continued.
JohnWillEdge just summoned Arachnophobia and began petting her.
Foxly and the Thief were about to leave when the Thief noticed something, a small, white piece of paper tucked into Arachnophobia's red collar.
"At least I can count on you, right, cat?" JohnWillEdge said bitterly.
"Meow..."
"That guy deserved to get hit, he was an asshole..."
"Meow..."
"Yes, I am back to talking to my cat, so what?!"
"Meow..."
"YOU'RE NOT HELPING!"
"Meow..."
"OF COURSE I CAN UNDERSTAND YOU! I JUST EXPECTED YOU TO BE NICER!"
"Meow!"
"WELL SO-RRY FOR HAVING ANY SORT OF EXPECTATIONS OF A CAT! I THOUGHT YOUR PERSONALITY WAS JUST A STEREOTYPE! BUT NO, YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE TOO!"
"Meow!"
"YOU TAKE THAT BACK!"
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Ok, I'm sorry..." Edge sighed.
The Thief watched this encounter and turned to Foxly,
"Is... is he fucking with us or can he actually understand the cat?" asked the Thief.
"..."
Foxly looked at her nonchalantly.
"Are you saying that would surprise you at this point?" he asked.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
"..."
The Thief looked back into the cage and noticed the paper in her collar.
"Wait... is that... a piece of paper under her collar?" asked the Thief.
"Paper...?" John said looking at the white rectangle.
"Mm, yeah, looks like it..." he said coldly.
"Hand me the paper," instructed the Thief.
John shook his head.
"Quit throwing a tantrum and read the paper!" Foxly instructed.
The Thief looked at Foxly and shook her head.
"He can't read..."
Foxly let out a sigh.
"Of course not..."
The Thief used shining step to get in and out of the cell.
"It's from JohnWillSmart!" she exclaimed.
It was the message JohnWillSmart wrote earlier describing his plan to kill Curstl and Arthur.
JohnWillEdge didn't react, he just kept petting his cat.
She read the message aloud.
As the contents of the pages became clear Foxly's and the Thief's eyes widened in terror.
JohnWillSmart was manipulating Arthur and Curstl into a fight, he had no intentions of letting either escape.
He was going to use the tentacle class to take them out one-on-one.
Also attached was a copy of John's plans.
"I'll send Grim the guitar-playing frogman on a mission to circle around the base and stand around near Grimwood, you'll be able to pick him off there,"
"Mable is a rock-mage, specifically a feromancer, she'll be standing around below the base, so some AOE magic will kill her, the other me can use the tenecirus class to wipe their souls, I'd recommend starting with Grim,"
Little sketches of the map with highlighted locations were included.
"Once Arthur and Curstl are dead, I'll reunite with the other me..."
Foxly immediately used the friends-list communication to let Bromy, Bonifacius and Crown know about this.
"An attack on the main base?! I will make haste!" Bonifacius exclaimed, he removed his armour to increase his speed as he began literally running across the desert and towards the jGurdian base.
As he ran, he left a cloud of disturbed sand and dust trailing through the desert.
Even then, the journey would surely take at least twenty to thirty minutes.
Back in the base...
"I can't teleport anyone there... it's too dark..." thought the Thief.
She looked at JohnWillEdge who was still sitting there, arms crossed.
He stood up and just as the Thief expected him to say or do something useful... or at least edgy, John lay down on the bed.
"The bed is pretty cool, I could get used to living in a cell..." he sighed before closing his eyes.
"Maybe I could get some tattoos? A dragon? Or a skeleton?"
John gasped internally.
"A skeleton dragon!"
"Dude! Get up, this is our chance to kill the guitar person!" Foxly exclaimed.
"Meh..." John yawned.
"What the hell?! This really isn't like you, man! Edgy or not!" Foxly said, both he and the Thief were getting pretty irritated.
Foxly opened the door and waited for John to leave.
He did nothing.
"You heard what the letter said, Curstl will make the world suck, man - I'm edgy but I'm not that edgy..." JohnWillEdge admitted.
"What the hell, John?!" demanded the Thief.
John replied without sitting back up.
"I'm meant to sit here and think about what I've done, right? Well, I'm not great at that, but I'm giving it a shot..."
"Dude!" she exclaimed.
John rolled over to his other side.
"Why don't you guys get going, you have like... an hour of walking ahead of you,"
"Too bad, you could have fought against magic insta-kill man..."
"..."
The Thief clenched her fists in rage as she turned to leave.
"I may not know this Curstl but I think she's on our side!"
Uncertainly, Foxly still stood around, expecting some sort of change in attitude.
JohnWillEdge spoke up.
"Could you guys turn the light off, It's hard to sleep with it on..." he sighed.
Foxly and the Thief sighed in unison as she moved further up the stairs.
Foxly turned the lamp off, bathing the room in relative darkness.
In that exact moment, JohnWillEdge shadow-stepped out of his cell and shadow-stepped both of them in before locking the door with the key they tossed him.
JohnWillEdge then shadow-stepped the remaining two, Alex and Arthur into the same cell.
All this happened in no more than five seconds.
"What the hell?!" demanded the Thief.
Jordan and Alex were still soundly asleep.
Foxly let out a sigh.
"I KNEW THAT BASTARD WAS GOING TO PULL SOME STUPID SHIT LIKE THAT!"
"An edge-lord can't be seen crying like a bitch if his friends die..." JohnWillEdge thought smugly.
JohnWillEdge shadow-stepped out of the room and into the desert before heading towards the main base at ungodly speeds, he surpassed Bonifacius who didn't even see John.
"I need to get Curstl out of there... I'm not the smart one... but I'll do that at any cost!" John thought.
"If I bring her out, there won't be a reason for everyone to go fight Arthur!"
Moments later, JohnWillEdge appeared in the jGurdian base, on the top floor.
"Hello," JohnWillSmart sat on the fancy red chair in the corner of the room, he was drinking a warm cup of tea.
"ME!" JohnWillEdge exclaimed.
"I had a feeling you'd do something like this..." Smart began.
"In the least edgy way possible, I want you to understand, that Curstl needs to go." Smart began.
In an instant, JohnWillEdge flashed out of existence and reappeared Beside JohnWillSmart.
Their blades met as sparks flew out.
Manoeuvre after manoeuvre they jumped around the room.
Edge went in for a kick to the side, Smart splashed the hot tea in his face before stepping back only to be shadow-stepped into the airborne tea by Edge.
Smart ended up being coated in his own boiling hot beverage.
"That might have worked on any race other than the undead," laughed Smart as he went in for a stab to Edge's gut.
A flurry of strikes, each one dodged perfectly as Edge shadow-stepped behind Smart,
Smart spun around only to be met with a dagger flying at his face and not Edge.
JohnWillSmart couldn't find Curstl in the room, "She must have escaped already, Bromy must have used the friend communication..." JohnWillSmart thought.
He shadow-stepped out of the way and located Edge, he kicked down a table, sending a load of cutlery flying.
With the absolute peak of his skills he grabbed them and threw them at Edge who dashed out of the way, Smart adjusted his aim dotting the walls of the room with sharp knives and forks... and a spoon.
"Why are you fighting me?!" JohnWillSmart demanded.
Edge moved in for a hit, he swept Smart off his feet.
Momentarily, Smart fixed his positioning forcing Edge to slash at the Air.
"You read the conveniently-timed message, right?!" he added.
JohnWillEdge smirked.
"I'm the edgy one, remember? I don't have to act logically!" Edge exclaimed.
JohnWillSmart appeared behind Edge, placing him in a choke-hold as Edge shadow-stepped out of the base and into an open field, then a beach, then a forest.
They blinked around the entire zone as they battled.
"Now I understand Arthur's problem with naive and illogical people..."
JohnWillEdge slashed at John, daggers in each hand only for Smart to jump onto his head and jam his two thumbs into Edge's eyes.
"FUCK!" Edge exclaimed.
"AHA!" Smart cheered, ready to slice Edge's neck open only for Edge to discretely stab Smart in the side.
"He's unphased by gouged eyes!?"
"All that staring at the sun paid off! I CAN'T FEEL MY EYES!" JohnWillEdge though as brought the blade up, exposing Smart's organs as he fell back.
Unbeknownst to everyone including JohnWillEdge himself, JohnWillEdge was building an ungodly pain tolerance with every stupid thing he did.
JohnWillSmart resorted to the tenecirus, he extended his arm towards Edge, they sprawled out from under his sleeve and made their way towards his target only to be intercepted by Edge's tendrils.
"What?!" JohnWillSmart was caught off-guard giving Edge the chance to throw a blade at Smart.
JohnWillEdge grinned, moments from victory only to be shadow-stepped in front of his own blade, before he could react, JohnWillSmart pressed the blade into his skull and scrambled a part of his brain.
Edge fell to the ground limply.
Smart put a hand to his wrist and didn't feel a pulse,
"Ah, right, he's undead..." JohnWillSmart laughed exhaustedly before reaching towards him with his tenecirus tentacles.
He could feel JohnWillEdge's soul was still within the body and so came to the conclusion that JohnWillEdge was still alive.
"Alright... that was worse than expected..." Smart remarked as he carefully removed JohnWillEdge's arms and legs before placing a lamp next to him, the lamp stopping him from shadow stepping.
JohnWillSmart made it a safe distance from the lamp and shadow-stepped into the jGuardian base once more.
"I was hoping to find Curstl, not the other me in this room..." Sighed JohnWillSmart.
"Whatever... she's too prideful to leave this building..." JohnWillSmart thought,
"I'll leave her to Arthur... then I'll take him out with the tenecirus class..."
JohnWillSmart felt a sharp pain in his back, he spun around and saw it, JohnWillEdge, his arms partially regrown, lumps of brain hanging out of his open skull, about two-thirds of the brain were already lost on the journey here.
He wiped the blood from his face with his sleeve and shakily gave JohnWillSmart a thumbs up and a smirk.
"Joh ghon... ghu... gha huihhed ghe haihal howop..." he slurred. (
Jokes on you... you missed the vital spot...)
"THE FUCK I DID!" cried JohnWillSmart.
