"What was all that stuff yesterday about?" Violet asked Felix who walked a bit ahead of her.
"Yeah, I don't know! Some weird dude walked into the office... I'm glad he wasn't the killer!" Felix laughed nervously.
It was the evening, the crimson sky gave off just enough light for them to travel safely.
"After Bromy's screw-up yesterday I had to tell them some random guy broke into the office, I was tasked with moving Violet someplace safe! Naturally, I suggested my home..." he smiled.
They walked through the tight alleys in relative silence.
"I wonder if Bromy's alright..." Violet said sombrely.
"Probably, he's pretty tough from what I heard!" Felix assured her.
"Though the current Bromy is anything but tough..." Felix thought.
Eventually, they made it to Felix's house.
Felix unlocked the door.
He opened the door and stepped inside.
The fireplace was lit and the entire home smelled of herbs and flowers.
Violet stepped in after him.
"Huh, I expected this place to be dirtier!" she remarked seeing the pristine home.
"Well, considering where we live I figure a clean home is a must," Felix laughed.
He gestured to the wooden stairs.
"You can go to the first room on the right upstairs, the bathroom is the door across from there," Felix explained.
"Thanks..." she said hesitantly as she made her way up.
Felix was about to say "Don't bother putting your luggage away!" but stopped himself, he couldn't risk her panicking and somehow escaping.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Once she was gone, he locked the door, making sure it was locked twice.
He moved upstairs ever so slowly, he stepped into the bathroom where Bromy stood, his shaking hands holding a blade.
"I... don't think I can... do this... after all..." Bromy said quietly.
"Quit overreacting! This is your chance! I'll be right behind you!" Felix said as Bromy took a deep breath and nodded sheepishly.
In a flash, Bromy opened the door to Violet's room revealing her standing next to a bed, unpacking.
"Bromy?!" she asked, a flash of excitement in her eyes for just a second as she noticed the blade in his hands.
"Do it already!" Felix exclaimed.
"What are you-?" she was cut off as Felix pushed Bromy forward, Bromy stumbled but kept his eyes on the target as he plunged the blade into her gut.
Violet took a step back, looking at the dark blood seeping from her gut.
She looked around seeing a single window, she made a move for it but was blocked by Bromy.
"I- I'm sorry... whoever you are, but I can't let you get me arrested!" Bromy exclaimed, his voice shaky.
"..." Violet looked to Bromy, a mix of shock and adrenaline blocking most of the pain.
"What's... happening?" she asked with a hand over her wound.
"You're not very smart, are you?" Felix asked with his hands in his pockets as he stepped towards her.
Her confused yet tense eyes followed Felix's every movement.
"Then again. Neither was your brother..." he smiled a devilish grin displaying his pearly white teeth.
Violet's expression changed as she finally realised what was happening.
"You're... the killer..." she mumbled as her vision began to blur.
"Good job, I'd give you a gold-sticker but we don't have those yet... you know what? I'll cut a star into you, how about that?" Felix asked.
"S-shouldn't we just kill her?" asked Bromy.
"Not now, Bromy - the grown-ups are talking!" Felix said in an irritated voice.
Violet's eyes darted to Bromy.
"You're... going to kill him?... After me...?" Violet asked.
Felix looked her in the eyes and smile before turning to look at Bromy.
"Of course not! We're good friends, I'm the only one he can remember with his amnesia!" Felix exclaimed.
"Liar!" she exclaimed.
"Oh? Then tell me, who beat him over the head and gave him amnesia in the first place?" Felix asked Grabbing the girl by the wrist.
"Hold on! No need to be so rough! Just finish it!"
Felix let out a sigh.
"Honestly... I'm done with your shit too!" Felix remarked as he took his hand out of his pocket and created a revolver.
Bromy's eyes opened in horror as the fear set in.
He fired it once, hitting Bromy's shoulder and another time hitting his leg.
Next, he aimed for the head but suddenly felt a pressure push him down, Violet planted a punch to his side causing Felix to gag, before could react, Violet ran up and pushed Bromy out the window, smashing the glass and wood frame.
As Bromy entered free-fall, he saw the Violet give him a warm, genuine smile before he landed on a soft pile of trash from which scurried dozens of rats.
Another shot was heard from inside the house as Felix poked his head out the shattered window, he looked at the trash pile and saw Bromy was already gone.
"Shit!" Felix remarked.
As Felix was busy with the cleanup, Bromy was running for his life.
The evening became even darker as clouds came over him.
Bromy ran like his life depended on it.
"Is he still after me!?"
"Was he going to kill me?!"
Bromy kept running, he reached a set of stone stairs and slipped, he rolled down and fell into a puddle of mud and trash, covered in filth the only thing going through his mind was survival.
He kept running as tears streamed down his face.
Everything he knew just turned on him.
The only person he could cling onto tried to kill him.
The only person he knew to attack pushed him out the window.
"What the fuck is wrong with this world?!" Bromy demanded.
"Why me?!"
He made it to a mostly abandoned part of the town.
Feeling the sharp pain in his muscles and the fire in his lungs, Bromy finally decided to take a break, behind a pile of trash he rolled into a ball of self-pity and lay there even as the rain began to fall from the sky.
In his frustration, he grabbed the hat from his head and thrust it against the opposite wall of the alley in which he hid as he began to sob.
"Why is this happening to me?!"
"What have I done to deserve this?!"
