Chapter Sixty Nine, "Take me away".

...
Forty five minutes.
Wukong was barreling through the plains, leaping hundreds of meters at a time. He was flying. Not literally, but in speed.
He threw himself forward, moving with all fours, and even integrating his tail into his movements.
"There hasn't been a single level four creature besides for the Sacred beasts... This could be bad." He whispered.
He was trying his hardest.

The capital city had awakened.
The countless humans within had all gone to their northern windows, peering out towards the far capital wall. Some could not see well, so they found themselves walking into the roads.
Some were too low, so they climbed to the roof of their buildings.
The one thing that every conscious human had in common, was that they were all facing north. They were awoken by the commotion, the booms and bangs of battle.
Atop of the wall were two creatures, one, a creature straight out of nightmares.
As for the other?
It was the hero of humanity. The most powerful human in recorded history.
Vern Wu.
The two people flew around each other, clashing and clanging. Strang mystical attacks were launched back and forth. Arrows of fire, blades of wind. Acidic bile, spears of darkness. Even bombs of energy were launched at one another.
Watching the sight, all humans had a great fear in their heart.
Their king seemed to be losing...
He was getting tossed to the side on occasion, being forced to tank the brunt of powerful attacks.
Yet, whenever he attacked his opponent, they seemed to shrug it off.
Fear was born in the mind of all those watching.
Yet, they did not know that their fear was damaging.

With each passing moment, their fear was fueling the rampaging demon.
But they did not know that.
Slowly, the constant faith that was fueling Vern Wu...
It was disappearing.
The perpetual golden age he lived in, it was escaping him.
But, like everything else, humanity did not know that.
Atop the wall, Vera quivered.
Her cape was ripped off, laying off to the side.
Her clothes were ripped through on her side, claw marks being seen.
She dragged her sword behind her, staring forward at the entity she combatted.
Originally, it had eight tendrils, and now, she was looking at three.
Slowly, inch by inch, she could see the remaining tendrils beginning to regenerate.
All in all, she had likely chopped over a dozen limbs, and they only continued to come back.
"Would you mind telling me what you are?" She asked, haggardly. She wiped the blood from her mouth, the bags beneath her eyes being more prevalent than ever.
Usually, her hair would be covering these eyes, but she couldn't risk missing anything in this battle.
"Your extinction." The demon leapt forward, a tendril spearing straight through her stomach. Vera jolted, taking the attack as more blood spewed from her mouth.
Her hand wrapped around this limb, her face turning upwards with a blazing fire in her eyes.
"Immobilize."
Her eyes flashed a golden hue, Malak freezing in mid air.
With the creature in reach, she swung her sword. It cleaved through the demon's mid section, but she did not stop there.
She reversed it's momentum, bringing the sword above and slicing diagonally across the demons body.
But she did not stop there.
"Arrow of fire..." She said exhaustedly, raising her palm towards the demons head.
With a blast of fury, her opponents skull was pierced straight through, combusting and exploding outwards.
Abruptly, her spell broke, the demon falling limply to the ground.
The tendril within her unstiffened, but stayed inside.
Vera fell to her knees, her head hanging backwards as she stared up into the sky.
She was exhausted, to the very end. Her hand felt the thick arm in her stomach, and reluctantly, she pulled it out.
With immense pain, she watched as the tendril flopped into the ground before her, the sharp end rolling lifelessly forward.
At that moment, she felt emotions and words enter her mind.
"I am almost there." She heard, a smile forming on her face.
She glanced downwards, looking at her fading life force. Blood leaked out of her profusely, and there seemed to be tears forming in the corners of her eyes.
Those nearby could hear it through the deafening silence.
The human king seemed to take his last breaths, but before he did that, he whispered a few words.
"Sun, take me away... please." His head fell backwards, his body following.
Yet, before he could hit the ground.
BOOM!
A blazing light rained down from the sky, burying itself into the capital wall, as everything exploded in a heavenly fashion.
The entire city was blinded for a few moments, and once their vision readjusted, there was a sight to behold.
The human king was no more, and the demon was shredded to pieces.
It was sliced, diced into a million sections, and a calm energy was billowing down from atop the wall. The energy washed over the humans of Sunvera, a calm essence infiltrating them all.
Instinctively they could feel it.
Their king was gone.
But they were given another chance.
Without his sacrifice, these people would not be here. Without all of his sacrifices, they would have never made it this far in the first place! There would be no kingdoms. There would be no cities. There would be no unity.
Humanity would have remained divided.
Over the last century, Vern Wu had made the efforts to bring the people together, and he had succeeded in doing so.
In the sixtieth year of history, the first human king was taken to heaven.
He was put to rest by the sun itself, to forever live peacefully in the arms of God...
