Chapter Seventy, A Shack in the Woods.

...

----------------------------------------

...

The world moved forward.

For humanity, their king died in the sixtieth year, and they were without royalty for a long while. Strangely, at the same time, the beastkin faced the same problem. On a random and unsuspecting day, the Monkey King vanished off of the face of the earth.

Both communities faced a monumental problem.

They were kingless...

But, they continued to advance.

For a period of time, both thrones were left unoccupied, only a legacy of those that predated any others that hoped to come. But eventually, these seats would be filled again.

Eventually, these people would prosper once more, albeit at a much slower rate.

They would find it hard to flourish as they once had, their original kings being talents among the stars...

...

There was a shack in the woods, just a little ways beneath the beast kingdom. The door clanked open, hitting the wall as a grumpy figure emerged.

"I can't believe you made me put this on..." The woman grumbled, stabbing a long sword into the ground as she stared forward with playful anger.

"It's been half a century since you last wore your armor... Why not celebrate our years of relaxation with a little spar!" A creature dropped from the trees, lightly landing on the ground and rising before the woman.

Glancing between the two, it was easy to notice they were the same height. One of them was a woman, with short white hair. It had grown to reach her shoulders, and her hair was split down the middle, allowing for the visage of her bright blue eyes. She wore the armor of a knight, iron plating her body. Beneath it was a blue body suit, and her shoulder pauldrons may have been the most intimidating aspect of her image. On her left shoulder was the skull of two creatures, reminiscent of human bone structure.

She had reforged her armor at some point, allowing more space in her breast plate.

To fit her breasts obviously...

"You know you're stronger than me. Why are we sparring?..." She scoffed, leaning with her hip. With her sword stabbed into the ground, she seemed rather unamused.

"Well... Can't this humble monkey have some fun?" Sun Wukong leapt forward, launching himself ahead with the help of his staff.

With a smile forming on her face, Vera ducked, lacing her sword with magic energies and dulling its sharpness.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

With full force she swung it towards her husband.

Vera and Sun Wukong had lived in seclusion for fifty years.

Vera did not die, and the sun did not pull her to heaven.

The Monkey King Sun Wukong heeded her call for him and rescued her. He ripped the demon Malak to shreds in an instant, and swept up Vera, escaping before a single existence could notice him.

To humanity, they would never have the inkling that he had rescued her. They had not even known that they were acquainted!

Wukong used this battle as the chance to retire them both. They had always spoke of separating themselves from the world after they have contributed enough to their people. Vera had long fulfilled her goal of unity, and Wukong had only followed in her footsteps to quench his boredom.

They had both used a century of their lifespans on their people, and it was only right deserved one more for themselves.

So, Wukong took the dying Vera to the center of the continent, and nursed her back to health. He shared his life with her, creating his own technique he would deem forbidden.

Soul tying.

He entangled their two souls, making them two halves of one whole. Sun Wukong and Vera Wu were tied together for eternity. They could share their thoughts. They could share their talents. They could share their energies.

No matter the distance, the two would forever be linked.

But along with this came their synchronized demise.

When one of them died, so would the other.

But this is what they wanted.

They would be together until the end.

From start to finish.

They started this journey alongside one another, and they made sure they would end it reunited.

Vera slid down a tree, attempting to wipe the sweat from her forehead. Wukong stepped towards her, ignoring his exhaustion and extending a hand.

"Fun, wasn't it?" He asked with a smile, the woman looking up in response.

"Yeah yeah, whatever." She laughed, taking his grasp and rising with his help.

"I didn't know you two oldies still had it in you!" A voice came from the side. It was a small human girl, likely ten years old. She had a head of light blonde hair, a mixture of her mothers white hair, and her fathers almost golden fur.

Like one would expect, the two had started a family.

Two children, but of course one of them was still sound asleep.

"I don't think our abilities will ever fade, Sumer." Vera chuckled, walking past and patting her on the head.

"Your brother is still sleeping I take it?" She asked, her daughter nodding.

"Do I get to spar too dad?" Sumer questioned, looking over towards the sitting ape.

He was sitting comfortably, a small smile appearing on his face.

"Maybe if you finish your training early..." A finger found its way to his chin.

"Then maybe I'll let you go all out on me. But you better prepare yourself, I won't be going too easy." Her father laughed as well.

Vera turned her head over her shoulder, pausing in the doorway to her house.

She honestly didn't regret getting lost in the forests that day. If she had not decided to venture to new settlements, she would have never met Wu...

It made her think.

One choice can lead to countless others... It's like an avalanche. Snow piling down a hill and picking up more as it goes. She was glad she decided to pile down that hill...

...

A gust of air violently blew about, the source being two massive nostrils.

Within a seemingly infinitely expansive cave, was a beast. It was scaly, and far larger than any other entity in the world. It had a long tail, and hide stronger than diamond. It's snout was long, and it's eyes were profound. There were two large wings on it's back, and four fingered claws on both its hands and feet.

Within this huge cave sat a god on earth.

The Titan Son.

The Dragon King.

The Earth God, Alacor.

Or better yet, Kieron.

This body of his was a lesser variant. A clone that had sprouted real life and it's own conscience on this planet.

"What a beautiful story..." Alacor exhaled, slowly turning his body around.

"But I have to prepare for the Vitarians... Only one thousand years until they succeed in their efforts."
