CHAPPY 85 - RESTRAIN THE HEAVEN
--[--]...[--]--
It was a message from Cyrene.
Which aroused suspicion from him, it was as if she was expecting something like this to happen.
Moreover, the fact that she couldn’t be contacted seemed to be up in her alley.
“This is just like her.” Kenjiki groaned, slowing down his speed, and looked at the people chasing him.
“Evildoer! Have you finally exhausted your Qi?!” A domineering voice boomed in the sky.
They had misunderstood something, thinking that the reason Kenjiki stopped on his path was because he had run out of energy.
Just like that, without giving him any chance to see the full picture.
Five dozens of people surrounded him from all directions,
“State your name!” A middle-aged man shouted.
“Don’t wanna.” Kenjiki had fully transformed into his vampire form.
The reason was that he needed to go all out in searching for Kyoka, which needed a huge amount of mana to cover a significant area.
That form of his also attracted everyone strong enough to notice his reckless action.
Only to realize that the culprit was a beast in human form.
“Do you not realize your situation? You’re surrounded by us, with no way to escape.” The middle-aged man narrowed his eyes, thinking that Kenjiki must’ve had a strong escape technique for him to remain calm.
“It’s the other way around, actually.” Kenjiki chuckled, which confused everyone. “Also, you guys are cultivators, right? It’s been a while since I met one.”
Everyone raised their guard, knowing that the beast in front of them wasn’t following the norm.
Instead of going berserk after being thrown into a corner by them, he was smiling like a madman.
“Let’s just kill him and harvest his blood. Talking to a madman like him would only waste our time.” Another person chimed in.
“As if talking to a beast is ever a good idea.” Another person chimed in and ridiculed Kenjiki.
They kept on running in their mouths, thinking that the situation was already under their control.
Sure, it was obvious as to why they think like that.
All of the cultivators that were here were the top powerhouses of this region.
It’d be idiotic and disrespectful to think that these people wouldn’t be able to deal with a threat of this level.
Even if Kenjiki was strong, he’s only one person and they came here with more people than needed.
“Lend me a hand.” One cultivator asked the next one beside him, wanting to go forward with a plan to kill Kenjiki.
But before he could do anything, they noticed that there was movement from Kenjiki.
“I’m a bit rustic, but this technique should be enough to kill all of you.” Kenjiki ignored their arrogant chatters and grabbed both of his horns.
This action alerted everyone, who immediately readied their own defensive spells to block any attack to come.
Even if they were confident that they could defeat him, it didn't mean that they would be able to leave unscathed if they were to bear the brunt of his attack.
They were aware of his strength, the only reason that they were this confident was because of their number.
*stab*
”Twin Piercer.” Kenjiki muttered. “I wonder if she’s reincarnated too.”
The man who wanted to go first and kill Kenjiki suddenly realized something was off.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
Lowering his head, he noticed that there were two gaping holes in his chest. Moreover, he felt that his soul suffered the same damage.
“Wha— Bullshit!!” The man lost his footing and fell from the sky.
One of them died.
There was Kenjiki, in his vampire form wielding two identical massive black needles.
The needles resembled his horns, as seen from the patterns that decorated them.
“That’s a bit too weak.” Kenjiki mumbled, swinging the needles around trying to find the right feeling when attacking.
The rest of the cultivators who had just realized that one of them had died instantly stopped stalling.
The more time they waste fooling around, the more people will die.
“I will deploy ‘Restrain the Heaven’ on him, so get ready to attack.” A woman shouted, alerting everyone as she brought out a hollow prism and filled it with her Qi. “The effect might be weaker than the normal technique, so be alert.”
Everyone else understood their assignment and immediately took out their own weapons.
They might not be from the same sect, but they knew each other’s technique well enough what to do in this situation.
“Thousands Sword Array!”
“Void Thrust!”
“Tri-Color Blade!”
All kinds of colors filled the sky as the sword attack flew toward Kenjiki at lightning speed.
Kenjiki only glanced at the attacks and strengthened his grip on the needles.
“Twin Piercer!”
Faced with the uncountable attacks launched by the cultivators, Kenjiki simply moved the twin needles forward.
Sending two strong concentrated lines.
In contrast to the flashy and fancy techniques that filled the sky, coming from all directions with one goal; to eradicate Kenjiki.
The two lines simply minded their business and exploded into numerous sparks that corresponded with the attacks.
*Bang!*
A loud explosion deafened the world.
The cultivators couldn’t believe what they were seeing as their strongest attacks disappeared without traces.
“What is that technique!” Disbelief was the only emotion everyone could feel at this moment.
The techniques they had been honing for countless years were defeated by a simple thrust.
Even the prism wielder couldn’t hide her shock, causing her technique to go awry.
“How come have we never heard of this beast before?!” They couldn’t convince themselves that someone of his caliber would be unknown.
“That wretch must’ve come from the center plains. It must be, because there’s no way someone like him wouldn’t go unnoticed.” Another cry of shock was uttered.
The reason that they were this shocked was that, right at the moment that Kenjiki launched his attack, they felt an insurmountable amount of pressure washing through them.
It was something that shouldn’t be coming from someone of his level.
Either the beast in front of them was hiding his real cultivation, or he wielded a divine artifact.
Coincidentally, the two needles that he was wielding fit the description of an artifact.
“Lady Wu! Is the Restrain the Heaven ready?”
Greed appeared on their faces.
Since it involved the matter of a divine artifact of that caliber.
The fear caused by the attack had disappeared, because as long as they could land their hand on the needles, any amount of damage was negligible.
“Yes!” Lady Wu snapped back and sped up the rate at which she chanted.
Potency mattered no more because all that mattered was to land the attack and halt Kenjiki’s movement.
Allowing the rest of them to kill him.
While all of this was happening, Kenjiki was unable to understand the hype they were on.
But from all of the experience he had dealing with cultivators.
Mood swings were common.
Incredibly common.
One time they were grieving about something, the next time they went out killing a whole bloodline.
“Are they waiting for her to attack?” Kenjiki looked at the woman that the cultivator called Lady Wu. “That must be some sort of debuff.”
Kenjiki allowed her to continue chanting the technique because he was curious as to what effect it had on him.
Just like he had wanted, Lady Wu finished chanting and clasped her hands with the prism between them.
Unexpectedly, the prism suddenly appeared above him spinning so fast that it looked like it was spinning at 1 frame a second.
While he was enjoying the sight.
*pop*
Blinding golden chains poured down the prism and chained all of his limbs at an incredible rate.
Surprisingly, three more identical prisms appeared below him and they too spat out chains to lock him in place.
“Hmm?” Kenjiki noticed something peculiar. “Is it draining my mana and using it to strengthen the chains?”
A second hadn’t even passed since the attack was launched at him, but five people suddenly appeared near him.
Each wielding a sword.
“Slithering Blade!”
“White Cross!”
“Lightning Blossom!”
“Cord Extension!”
“Glassy Plains!”
Five attacks were launched simultaneously.
“Kuhuk!” Kenjiki coughed aggressively, and for the first time, he bled.
