Chapter 29 - A Date with Kyoka

CHAPPY 29 - A DATE WITH KYOKA

--[--]...[--]--

Nagant and Kyoka who had just come back from outside were surprised when they saw Kenjiki lazing around on the sofa with Cyrene and Psykos.

Because he would usually lock himself in a room for a week at least before going out.

"You're here? I thought you would be gone for another week." Kyoka sat beside him before sniffing the smell of debauchery on the three of them.

"They got exhausted." Kenjiki glanced at the two busty women who glared at his half-truth words.

"They did?" Kyoka was quite surprised hearing this because there's no way someone would be exhausted while being pumped a huge amount of mana.

"Anyway, the date is today right?" Kenjiki suddenly brought up his promise, which surprised her who had thought he would forget about it. "Then get ready, I'll wait for you here."

The instant that words got out of his mouth, Kyoka summoned her wings and disappeared into her room to change her shirt.

While waiting for her to finish changing up, Kenjiki looked at Nagant and asked whether anything important had happened.

Nagant then started to talk about the news of the UC or United Cities where they found a lair filled with numerous corpses that were missing their limbs.

They were also a pair of ugly-looking monsters who went around and destroyed every place that their grubby feet could land on.

Aside from that. There's a huge migration of the supposed 'failed Heroes' to the UC who welcomed them with open arms.

Because the UC was created with the Hero Association as the core instead of the government, they continuously received anyone into their leagues to prepare for monster attacks.

On the last note, a lot of monsters suddenly appeared outside of the UC and killed most Heroes off guard due to their sudden appearance.

"The world is changing fast huh? Is there any sign of UC's people obtaining a quirk?" Kenjiki asked. As he was quite curious if quirk could just appear.

"None." Nagant uttered a simple word.

"Is there anyone who called themselves the 'Monster Association' by any chance?" Psykos chimed in, wanting to confirm whether there was a remnant of her subordinate.

Hearing the question of the unknown woman, Nagant wanted to say no when she remembered something that he had heard.

Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.

"A group of monsters led by a cat-monster founded a group with the same name." Nagant racked her brain for the information.

"Nyaan? I guess his nature won't let him die down there." Psykos massaged her temples. Frustrated because she didn't know how much of the Monster Association had survived.

At that time, Kyoka came out of her room and looked at Kenjiki in anticipation.

Kenjiki looked at her, who was wearing a dress that was unlike her usual taste in clothing.

"Then, we'll leave." Kenjiki stood up and grabbed her hand before walking into The Door.

--| A City |--

Their first destination was the cinema where they went to watch a romance movie about a deaf girl being bullied by a boy who inexplicably in the end fell in love with each other.

The next destination was a cafe that was popular for couples to hang out at.

"You're following someone's advice don't you?" Kenjiki suddenly asked, catching her off guard.

"What are you talking about?" Kyoka shifted her eyes away.

"Haaah. How about we go to a studio?" Kenjiki changed the topic.

Kyoka seemed to be surprised hearing his words, not expecting that he would suggest this. Because she had thought that he would like the dating guide she had been following.

But then again, she didn't refuse his offer and abandoned the guide altogether.

Arriving in the studio where she would usually go with her friends. Kyoka greeted the cashier who seemed to know her.

"Ah, if it isn't our Kyoka." The middle-aged woman smiled at them while peering into Kenjiki's soul to determine their relationship. "A date?"

"2 hours, usual place." Kyoka ignored her words and left her.

"How youthful." The middle-aged woman chuckled as she typed something into the computer.

Meanwhile, in the room that she had booked. Kyoka picked up a guitar while Kenjiki on the back picked up the drumsticks.

With songs in mind, Kyoka started the song while Kenjiki blasted the drums.

For the next two hours, they booked the studio, and they repeatedly played the songs with Kyoka as the vocalist.

They left the room with a wide smile, talking about their mistakes while playing the songs. With Kenjiki being the one who made the most mistakes the whole time they were there.

"It's my first time in a while holding drumsticks, so what do you expect from me?" Kenjiki shrugged at her teasing.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll wait for the next time we come here, Mr. I-haven't-played-it-in-a-while." Kyoka laughed at him.

As they passed the middle-aged cashier who was in silence, as if letting them stay in their own little world, Kyoka also forgot to greet her.

When they got out of the building, Kyoka saw a familiar figure walking from a bookstore.

"Mirko?" Kyoka blurted out the woman's name.

"It's you?" Mirko turned her head towards them, while hiding the bag she was holding behind her.

But when she noticed Kenjiki who was looking at her with a strange smile, she suddenly remembered the strange conversation she had overheard.

'Is he the lover?' Mirko thought to herself in surprise, because she thought that her lover was an old wealthy man who was reaching his hand to a high schooler.

"What're you doing here?" Kyoka asked as she was curious as to why a Pro Hero would have so much day off.

"I'm buying something for my friend." Mirko pointed at the bookstore that she had come from.

"A porn and a romance manga? That's a weird combo."
