8. Power comes at a cost

A Dragonborn was supposed to have a dragon soul residing inside him and this special attribute of the character would allow the player to use special attack. This attack wouldn't be associated with magic and it would just be a shout from his mouth.

There were three stages of a particular word. The famous one being the ‘Fus-Ro-Dah’.

Every word of power would always be a three word combined with each consecutive word making it more powerful. For example, the word of power 'Fus-Ro-Dah' was a combination of three words Fus, Ro and Dah. Using the word 'Fus' would just send the enemy staggering away and leave the opponent unable to think properly. Using the word 'Fus-Ro' together would have more power on the dragon shout. And in the end if the whole 'Fus-Ro-Dah' was uttered together then it could easily send a person almost flying away backward and temporarily rag-dolled, inflicting additional environmental damage upon impact.

In the animation it was pretty funny when one performed this attack on a human being!! This attack didn't consume any magicka or stamina. Only downside of the attack was its cool down period. More powerful a word of power was, the longer was its cool down period ranging from 5 seconds to 600 seconds.

A sudden bulb appeared over the head of Robin as he had a brilliant idea. He approached the word of power slowly. One could learn the word by reading it while coming near to the power but one needed to have sufficient dragon souls.

Dragon souls could be obtained only when the player kills a dragon and then the player automatically gains a dragon soul. This was on the main quest of the game. Robin's idea would work only when he had a dragon soul. So leaving his search for scrolls he went to the main quest.

After following the main quest for sometime he finally came across a dragon. Since he had been playing all morning he was particularly high level and ended up killing the dragon easily.

After the death of the dragon, its soul was being taken away by the player and this was where Robin intervened. He used his whole hand to insert it inside the game and placed it right between the dragon and the player. The dragon soul which was being transferred to the player suddenly changed its direction and went straight to the hand of Robin.

Normally when Robin brings out an item from a game, he never feels anything due to the small size of an item. But this time it was different. Robin felt it. Robin felt the whole transfer. The creamy white light entered his hand making Robin's hand cold and this cold feeling slowly creeped upon his whole body.

Robin felt like small icy worms were crawling under his skin starting from hand and slowly being transferred to his whole body. Robin felt the worms were alive and were trying to eat his flesh but he could easily say there was nothing of that sort. There was no pain in it, it was just that the icy feeling had slowly covered his whole body.

Actually, it wasn't that Robin didn't feel any pain. The icy sensation inside his body numbed the pain receptors altogether. Soon this feeling crawled itself to his heart and brain. Slowly Robin started to lose consciousness and in no time his head hit the keyboard.

Gastly had been an obedient Pokemon all along, looked at its trainer with great horror and panic. It didn't know why its trainer suddenly lost consciousness. Out of fear, Gastly went and tried touching the body of Robin but when it did so, a strong force threw Gastly away. It was good that Gastly's body was mostly based on gas or otherwise it would have definitely slammed the wall and hurt itself.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Gastly was in trepidation as it didn't know what to do. It had already been given the command that it should hide from everyone and never show its face. But its trainer definitely needed some kind of medical attention. It just didn't know what it should do.

Gastly seeing no other choice decided to go near Robin again and wake him up. Gastly carefully and slowly came towards Robin but as soon as he was an inch far from the skin of Robin, Gastly felt that the normal functioning of its trainer was fine.

Gastly couldn't explain or understand why it felt that but it could tell that its trainer was fine and had just gone to normal sleep. He was puzzled by this new information that had appeared in its brain out of nowhere. Seeing no other choice Gastly floated around Robin and was making sure that nothing could harm its trainer while he was sleeping.

Robin on the other hand was having a battle on his own. He had fallen asleep but his mind was wide awake and it was going through immeasurable pain. The dragon soul had really been transferred to his body since the dragon soul considered Robin as the Dragonborn.

But in the real world, Robin wasn't the dragonborn. So the dragon soul right now was forcefully making his soul into a soul of the dragonborn. Basically it was reverse engineering the process!! Robin's soul was being made into a soul of the Dragonborn and for this reason he was suffering endless torture in his mind.

His body was already unconscious so the brain couldn't shut down itself to escape the pain. And now internally he suffered. Suffering like he was being flogged by a sharp whip which had thorns and the flogging was done all over his body simultaneously. And along with that he had the feeling that half of the body was boiling in hot water and half of the body was in some barren place in the winter season in Antarctica.

This struggle, the pain, the suffering lasted for a full 5 minutes. And then the pain stopped. Robin in the real world slowly woke up. His eyelids felt heavy as he slowly opened his eyes. He could already tell that his body was covered in sweat as felt the shirt stuck in his back.

The pain had vanished altogether but the trauma remained. It was a matter of quick thinking that he had brought his hand out from the game before he lost consciousness or else it might have led to some disasters.

Robin could barely keep his body straight as he struggled to sit upright after getting his eyelids open. This was the most horrifying torture he ever felt. The pain was so immense that he didn't even know how much time had passed.

When Robin had gone to sleep he could feel that Gastly was trying to wake him up so he could only muster the small amount of strength at that point and tried contacting him to remain calm. At that point he didn't know how he did it, but that was the only thing he could do at that moment.

Miraculously whatever was happening to Robin, he could understand. It was as Robin had received new information telling him that his soul was being remodelled and it would take a short amount of time. It was for this reason that he 'told' Gastly not to worry about him.

"Souls are real!"

This was all Robin could think at the moment as he was trying to space out and get his bearings together. The trauma was still very much effective on Robin and he needed a time out. After a full 20 minutes of resting, he slowly got up and almost dragged himself to the shower.

He needed to wash away all the sweat and hopefully the trauma too. Robin then proceeded to take the longest shower of his life. A full 15 minutes standing under the water. He didn't even realize that he had passed that much time.

But after coming out he felt much better!! He went to bring out a new pair of clothes from the clothing cabinet that was attached to the wall near his table as he threw the current one to the laundry. After the shower episode he felt hungry and thirsty. Thankfully, it was already time for lunch as he asked mom to serve the food.

He ate his food silently as he was in no position to talk. Robin was a person who spoke exceptionally less. Especially at home, so his mom didn't find anything weird. After finishing his lunch he went to sleep rather than playing any game.

All he needed now was a good sleep. Closing all the only windows of his room and the door, he went straight to bed without bothering to open his mobile and checking religiously like he always did. He didn't have the energy nor the desire to do such a thing. His eyelids felt heavy as he closed his eyes. In no time, he fell asleep.

When Robin woke up again, almost 4 hours had passed. Robin ended up sleeping for 4 hours in the afternoon. This was probably the new record he had set that day for afternoon sleep.
