The Notorious Misadventures of an Alchemist and a Phoenix, Chapter 21
"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry" was a pretty obvious statement. Who likes a person who rages out of control?
Golem number three, sometimes known as Golem number one and on rare occasions golem number two was witnessing something it had never seen before. The new master seemed to have damaged himself. The controlled and purposeful movements the master made when combining liquids were gone and in its place was a sad sight to behold.
Have you ever seen a grown man lose all reason and delve into madness of unquenchable anger? That in itself was sad but when you add low strength the whole effect of pure rage looks more like a child having a major tantrum. A grown-ass man trying his best to rip a stack of papers or strangle a broom handle only to throw the two things on the floor when all of the twisting and griping resulted in the stack of papers becoming wrinkled and the broom losing a couple of straw heads.
It was desperately sad. So sad that the golems decided not to have their daily fight. Instead, they just watched and felt one of the few emotions that golems could feel, cringe. The way the new master pushed and shoved, kicked and punched and the results were, for a lack of better word, cheap. The punches looked weak and non-effective. Every hit caused the golem to shudder and recoiled in embarrassment as it did nothing. Golem number three had been fighting with his brotherly kin for years and even the weakest non-competitive blows were better than what the master was doing right now. He felt ashamed that the new master wasn't better.
The golems only felt better when the master had disappeared from their eyesight. Where did he go, that wasn't something they cared about. They had their jobs to do and they were going to do it, with gusto.
Noah was lost but he didn't even know it. Fear can scatter the mind and cause you to flee without realising where you are going. Rage, on the other hand, can blind you to reason and make your mind hyper-focus on one thing, either way, Noah was in trouble because he was in the one place where being well-connected or rich was negative.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The slums had increased in size, as all slums seemed to do and yet there was a hierarchy to it. Just like how there was the ruling class, middle class and working class the slums had their "dangerous areas", "dead areas" and "what the hell are you thinking areas". Noah had wondered into an area called suicide ally, opposite shank street, alongside Fools Gold Avenue. It would seem that the poor had a great sense of humour, if not a bad naming sense.
The ally stank of rotting food and desperation, the only sound coming from the ally was the angry grunts of Noah trying with all his might to knock over a trash can filled to the brim with wiggling things.
Any normal person would have kept their mouth closed and hid in the shadows in fear of some unfortunate incident involving knives and livers but this was anything but normal. The usually low-tier racketeers stayed away, not out of mercy but rather fear. The multiverse was an unexpecting place with hiding horrors both mundane and mind breaking but when something unexpecting happened, like a seemingly weird and weak young man grunting and making enough noise to wake the dead, people stayed away....just in case.
However, fear will only stop the sane and not the desperate, everyone was desperate in the slums, and so despite the strangeness of a howling youth, the locals moved in.
The two would-be muggers' names were three-finger Tim and iron pipe Harry. Both of them had to work fast as it was only a matter of time before someone would try their luck and mug them. It was a mug-on-mug world in the slums. They ran into the ally with their weapon of choice raised and ready to find Noah in his black Alchmist leather suit trying his best to destroy a wall with his fist alone but only causing friction where his fist met the wall.
"Your money or your life"
"Your money or your life"
"Your money or your life"
"Your money or your life"
It would be true to say that life is full of shitty moments but very rarely do those shitty moments followed up with a nice bit of karma. So, when Tim and Harry ran into the ally they weren't expecting company in the form of other muggers. Other similar-minded individuals had heard the grunts and came to make a little coin. Now there was wave after wave of hoodlums knocking each other out and stealing their belonging. When one group of desperado attackers was finished a new fresh group would take advantage and mug the previous group. And all of this chaos, in the middle of the storm was Noah with his rage-filled mind and incredibly fast hands waving hate at the sky above. It got so bad that middle age muggers tried their luck against the younger generation. The whole event spiralled out like a domino effect causing more and more bodies to pile up like a wall.
The whole event only stopped when a small honey badger with a city watch badge around its neck joined in with the fight, but by that time Noah was long gone causing trouble elsewhere
