The Notorious Misadventures of an Alchemist and a Phoenix, Chapter 20
Noah's eyes darted over the translucent screen
"Systems challenge
Class change to a Berserker and hold the rage for one year.
The challenge will be forfeited if the class is changed from Berserker.
The class will stay at Beginner tier throughout the challenge
You may deactivate Berserkers rage but only when the skill is active will it count toward holding the rage for a year
Reward: Advancement to Master tier Berserker
Noah almost dropped his tool when he read the reward he did drop it but due to his flexible and crazy fast hands, he scooped the tool out of the air before it even made it halfway to the ground.
The reward was insane. How long did a normal person reach Master tier in any class, maybe twenty to twenty-five years? Even Noahs with his prestigious speed took just over five years to reach master tier in Alchemy and that was due to the new idea of mass production through a conveyor belt-style production line. It would only take one year of Beserker rage and then master tier.
What could he do with Master Berserker tier, Noah gently brushed his check. It didn't have the best synergy with his Grand Master Alchemy stats, unlike all of the magic classes but it would cover his weakness. At the moment he was a particularly soft and easy target for almost anyone. Yes, he had a lot of potential to fast-track almost any class, but all it would take would be one casual hit from any normal weapon and he would turn into a lot of potential for the dirt. And yet with the Berserker class Noah's soft pudding body would be transformed into something akin to a rippling mass of muscle, and then there were the passives.

Just like how the Alchemy class had a passive against Toxins and disease, the Berserker class had its own passive. Cutting and Pirceing resistance and Health Regeneration.
Noah cross-checked the pros and cons and while it was pretty much equal, Noah only had eyes for one advantage. How hard and fast could he slap the phoenix with crazy berserker strength and god-like hand speed?
The gods were all on the edge of their seats watching the choice that this mortal would make. Well, that wasn't true. Only NomNom was on the edge, the other gods didn't care. Most of the gods were networking and talking to each other and only knew something had happened when NomNom pushed away his high chair and started to pump his tiny gingerbread arms in victory.
"Why is he so excited," asked one god who was fiddling with a Tupperware container.
Instantly NomNom answered by snatching the container out of the god's tentacle arms and opening it with ease "Do you know the number one killer of adventurers"
"Overestimating yourself"
"unforeseen accidents"
"Blades"
"Teeth"
"High falls"
"Sudden stops from high falls"
"Arrows"
"Ladders"
"Cats"
"Yes, cats"
A wave of murmuring agreement spread through the gods, even NomNom who was about to cut short this ridiculous discussion had to agree.
"Yes, but I meant to say that anger will get you into the worst situation when completely safe"
There was no murmuring of agreement. They didn't understand.
"The mortal is smart and capable but if you stir in a little uncontrolled anger from the Berserker class, and mix low physical stats then the results are you put a very proficient and skilful Alchemist into a repeatable situation where death by suicidal rage is almost a given"
"And the best part is that he can't get physically stronger, he can't get any gods gifts until he's finished the challenge" explained NomNom.
"So what's the big deal" shouted an angry god. If it's one thing the gods didn't like, it was learning. To learn meant you don't know and there isn't a chance in the multiverse hell that a god would admit they didn't know.
"It's all about time, we have to make sure that our champions get the resources they need and the time to become stronger. After all, it's going to take at least a full year of rage-inciting action for the mortal to complete the Systems Challenge........" NomNom thought for a hot second
"He couldn't possibly do it faster," thought NomNom "Could he?"
