Chapter 86: A Squirrel Diversion

Plagiarize was making his way through the burnt wasteland which used to be a jungle. It was quite ashy and depressing. He had passed through all the actively burning parts and was almost all the way to the beach. He had not much light to see by, so he had to rely on the glow of the Fire Gem to aid him.

As he was making his way through the burn zone, he caught a glimpse of something bright and long off to his left. He looked in time to see a big beam of energy erupting into the sky. THE SQUIRREL! It was indeed he who had their Energy Cube. Plagiarize needed to go beat him up right this instant. He set off towards the squirrel.

Meanwhile, quite far away from Plagiarize, the gang waited patiently for him to return in a ship. Every few minutes, they had to take a mini hike in order to keep their distance from the fire. Because of this, they could not sleep. When the squirrel’s energy beam shot into the sky, nobody could see it due to the fact that they were in a dense jungle.

BAM! Back to Plagiarize we go. He was zipping his way through the jungle directly in the direction of the squirrel. The squirrel wasn’t actually very far away from him. Plagiarize soon reached the actively burning part of the jungle once again, and soon after that, the edge of the fire itself. And he could see the squirrel.

Merely a couple meters away, the poor squirrel was running as fast as he could, carrying the Energy Cube high above his head. He was struggling a lot.

“SQUIRREL!” yelled Plagiarize over the sound of burning wood and leaves and stuff like that. The squirrel jumped from the sudden loud noise. Clutching the Energy Cube, he turned around to see Plagiarize standing amidst the flames of the jungle. He looked like a demon, standing there in the burning brightness.

“YOU!!” yelled the squirrel. “HELP ME!”

“Why should I help you?” asked Plagiarize.

“I’LL GIVE YOU THIS CUBE IF YOU CAN TAKE ME AWAY FROM THIS FIRE!”

“Yeah, but if I burn you, I can take the cube and the bracelet you stole from Mushpuff!”

“If you burn me, I’ll VAPORIZE YOU!!” shouted the squirrel, tapping the Energy Cube with his squirrel hands.

“Okay, fine,” said Plagiarize. “I guess it won’t hurt any-- THINK FAST!!” and without any hesitation, he shoved the Fire Gem forwards at the squirrel. The squirrel, however, was a squirrel. He dropped the Energy Cube and slipped away super swiftly. Alliteration, eh?

“Rats!” said Plagiarize. He picked up the cube. “Well, at least I have this now.”

Many bright colors then filled Plagiarize’s vision. Purple, blue, red, and yellow lasers shot out from the depths of the jungle and narrowly missed the human. The freaking Yalmton Bracelet! A squirrel hidden amongst the leaves of a jungle with a deadly laser is quite a force to be reckoned with, so Plagiarize decided not to reckon with it and sprinted off in the direction of the beach, but also making sure to get into the burning area of the jungle so the squirrel couldn’t follow him.

Now that the squirrel had no Energy Cube to carry, though, he was able to run much faster. Jumping from tree to tree, he outpaced Plagiarize, so that even though the human had a faster route to the ship, they both arrived at the same time. And that was when chaos erupted.
