Chapter 81: The Switch

Mushpuff, Plagiarize, Klumpkrump, Qaeron, Snorter, Bird, and Hoofa were all making their way through the jungle, following the path of acorns left behind by the squirrel as he was being chased by squettles. Eventually they came across the squirrel being carried in a cage by the squettles. Everyone hid behind some plants, as plants were not particularly difficult to come by where they were.

Qaeron, being big and noticeable, thought it would be better if he hid in the trees instead. Everyone tried to stop him but they couldn’t use their voices for fear of being heard by the squettles and they couldn’t drag him away because he was big and bearly. Up and up the tree he went. The tree he was climbing bent further and further until it snapped and he and the top half of the tree (Qaeron included) fell directly in front of the group of squettles.

“HEY WHAT THE HECK!!” shouted the squirrel from inside his cage. “BEAR, SAVE ME!!”

Qaeron roared at the squettles. A few of them ran, but most of them held up their spears threateningly. Qaeron then screamed and ran away from them. And, as it turned out, the place he ran to was the bush that everyone was hiding behind. The squettles followed him and encountered the entirety of the gang.

“Bro, Qaeron, why would you do that?” asked Hoofa, whipping out her Barrel Gun. Plagiarize brandished the Fire Gem threateningly, and Mushpuff stood there and attempted to look menacing with his Yalmton bracelet.

The squettles now looked less sure of themselves. Most of them took a few steps back. Plagiarize then fired a warning fireball, which was a bad idea. You see, fire was the most dangerous thing in a place like this, as just a little bit could burn a significant portion of jungle. The squettles needed to destroy this threat as soon as possible. They lunged at Plagiarize with their spears. The human instinctively thrusted his hands forwards, and, in doing so, roasted the squettles with a wave of flames.

“Oops,” said he.

“Well, that’s one way to deal with that,” said Snorter.

There then came a shout from the squirrel’s cage which sounded something along the lines of “THEY’RE TAKING THE ENERGY CUBES!!!” Everyone rushed over to the squirrel where they saw the terrible sight of a group of squettles running away with the two Energy Cubes in tow.

“GET THEM!!” yelled the squirrel, causing everyone to run towards the squettles.

“WAIT, GET ME FIRST, YOU IDIOTS!!!!!!” he shouted once again. Plagiarize burned the wooden cage to a crisp and freed the squirrel.

The gang and the squirrel then went in pursuit of the group of squettles who had escaped from their clutches. It was very unfortunate that not a single one of them thought to look back, for there was a fire spreading at the location Plagiarize had roasted the squettles.
