Chapter 39: Danger Above, Ships Below

Hoofa and Gumpton descended further and further until Gumpton eventually landed on top of a massive room. Hoofa got off and looked up. All she could see was a lot of movement and the occasional blast of a mouse-mech’s laser gun thingy. She and Gumpton were quite far down, so it was hard to make out what exactly was happening.

Gumpton make an elephant noise and Hoofa turned to look at him. His trunk was pointed at a hatch on the ground.

“Great idea! I’ll go in there and see if there’s anything useful,” suggested Hoofa.

As it turned out, there was something rather useful. The room they landed on top of was one of the many ship garages of Kearth. It was filled with pirate ships (the flying versions of the pirate ships of Earth that the Kearthian pirates were flying before).

Hoofa walked up to the door of one of the ships. It had a lock on it, which was very unfortunate.

“Gumpton, get down here!” yelled Hoofa from below. Gumpton shoved himself into the hatch but he was too big to fit and got stuck in the hole.

Meanwhile, up above, the rest of the gang was in a not so good situation. They were surrounded by mouse-mechs with guns, and their only gun was with Hoofa because she took it from Klumpkrump because she took it from their mouse friend whose name still hasn’t been mentioned for some reason. It’s kinda awkward having to refer to him as “their mouse friend”, though. Oh well.

“Surrender now or you’ll get shot,” said one of the mouse-mechs in its robotic voice.

“Oh yeah? Shoot me!” declared Plagiarize, stepping forward. The mouse-mech repeated its warning. Plagiarize swiped at its gun, trying to grab it, but got shot in the chest instead… and was unharmed.

“Ha, take that!” said Plagiarize, snatching the gun out of the mouse-mech’s hand as it stood in shock. “I’m immune to fire!”

Plagiarize then punched the mouse-mech in the face. However, since its face was made of metal, it hurt a lot. He dropped the gun and it went falling down, down, down. Then the mouse-mech punched him in the face, which also hurt a lot because its fist was metal and it came swinging at high velocity. It hurt so much that Plagiarize fell off the walkway and also went falling down, down, down.

“OH NO, THIS ISN’T GOOD!!!” yelled Plagiarize as he fell away from the rest of the gang.

As Plagiarize fell, Hoofa was trying to figure out how to get Gumpton out of the hole he was stuck in. Then Plagiarize landed on Gumpton, squashing the elephant and himself through the hole.

“Ah, thanks, Plagiarize,” said Hoofa.

“No problem.”

Using Gumpton, Hoofa was able to get up over the edge of the pirate ship.

“You guys stay there, I’ll unlock the door,” said Hoofa, turning around and leaving, presumably to look for a passage to the front door, which pirate ships definitely have. That’s how they’re entered. The front door.

Plagiarize and Gumpton were left to stand next to each other until the front door was unlocked.

“So…” said Plagiarize. “You’re… an elephant.”

Gumpton stared at him blankly.
