Chapter 78: The Pyramid of Corn

Chapter 78: The Pyramid of Corn

“Welcome to my ship!!” shouted the squirrel. “Don’t touch anything or I’ll THROW YOU OUT THE BACK DOOR!!”

The gang was being led into the squirrel’s ship, which was parked around the back of Lizard Fortress. It was rather small, and had only a piloting room and a lounge room behind it. Qaeron just barely fit inside, and if Gumpton still existed, he definitely would not have fit.

“Okay, where are we going!!!!” yelled the squirrel.

“Let’s see…” said Bird as he pulled out the maps. “Okay, I can lead the way to the closest one.”

Bird remained in the pilot room with the squirrel and everyone else filed into the small lounge room which contained nothing but a couch and heaps of acorns.

“Wow, look at all these acorns…” said Snorter, picking up one of the thousands of acorns in the room.

“I KNOW YOU’RE TOUCHING MY NUTS!” yelled the squirrel from the control room.

“This is going to be a very long ride,” said Snorter with great heaps of despair and pain and suffering and sadness. All she wanted to do was to touch his nuts.

Luckily for everyone on board, the ride on the squirrel’s ship was merely 2 days. There were no beds, so when people were tired they laid on the cold floor. The squirrel slept on his mountain of acorns and let nobody touch or eat them except for himself.

Upon arriving at the planet, everyone noted how green it was. It looked like Earth if you flipped its proportions of water and land. The squirrel guided the ship to the surface of the planet and landed. He had to land on the shore of one of the oceans since every single little bit of land was covered in trees and trying to land a spaceship on trees is a stupid idea and I do not recommend it.

Upon stepping out of the spaceship, there was no sign of the artifact in sight.

“How odd,” noted Plagiarize. “I expected the artifact to conveniently be located in an extremely obvious place where we could find it almost immediately.”

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

“Hey, what’s that big thing in the distance?” asked Klumpkrump.

“Ahoy!” said the human. “It’s… uh… well, I’m not sure.”

In the distance, beyond the wall of trees in front of them marking the beginning of the forest, was a large floating stone structure. It looked like an inverted pyramid and it was very mossy.

“OH MY GOD!!” yelled the squirrel.

“What?” asked everyone else.

“IT’S THE PYRAMID OF CORN!!”

“The what?” asked Snorter. “That sounds delicious.”

“IT’S THE PYRAMID OF CORN!!” repeated the squirrel.

“Okay, but what does that mean, yo?” asked Hoofa.

“It’s legendary and well-known!!” said the squirrel. “I thought it was a myth! THERE’S TREASURE INSIDE!!!! I’M TAKING IT FOR MYSELF!!” and with that, the squirrel was off running into the forest in the direction of the pyramid. Everyone else had no choice but to follow him.

Because the squirrel was, well, a squirrel, he was able to effortlessly navigate the forest and swiftly make his way to the Pyramid of Corn. Everyone else, however, was stuck on the ground and soon found themselves significantly slowed down by tons of vines which were in their way. Mushpuff and Klumpkrump became the designated vine-destroyers of the group, since they both had claws. Then Klumpkrump realized she totally had an Energy Cube and could probably vaporize all the vines in the way. And that was when she realized that her cube was missing.

“Guys, the Energy Cube is missing!!” said Klumpkrump suddenly as this shocking realization came to her.

“I bet that freaking squirrel stole it…” said Hoofa. “I don’t like that guy.”

“Well maybe I can do this!!” said Mushpuff, punching his paw forwards and unleashing a Yalmton laser upon the jungle before them. Tons of vines were destroyed and a clear path was made. During the duration of the ride on the squirrel’s ship, Mushpuff discovered that his laser could only be fired for about 20 seconds at a time and then it needed a few minutes to recharge. By cutting all those vines, he used about 5 seconds of the laser’s charge. As its charge level went down, it glowed less and less until it lost its glow entirely at 0 power.

“Let’s go get that squirrel!” said Snorter. Everyone then ran forwards to go get that squirrel and the chapter was finished.
