Chapter 76: The Yalmton Bracelet

Chapter 76: The Yalmton Bracelet

The gang decided that the best possible course of action was to go get the bracelet thingy from Mushpuff’s path and then circle around and go down Bird’s path, seeing what was down there and if there were any more mouse-mechs. Qaeron would have to once again stay behind because he was still too big to fit in the tunnels. Hoofa stayed behind to keep him company.

Upon arriving at the portcullis, Klumpkrump stabbed and ate the 2 remaining fish. She then took one of the straws, held it through one of the gaps in the portcullis, and let it suck her through to the other side. Because that is how straws work.

Mushpuff, Bird, Plagiarize, and Snorter followed close behind Klumpkrump. Now they had arrived at the magic glowing bracelet on a pedestal. It was made of black plastic beads strung together on stretchy bracelet material. Seven of the beads spelled out “Yalmton”, and they were not black but an assortment of purple, blue, red, and yellow beads.

Mushpuff picked up the bracelet and put it on. There were no apparent immediate changes.

“Huh,” said the cat. “I kinda expected it to do something.”

“Maybe it’s not an artifact after all,” said Klumpkrump. “Maybe it’s just a cool lookin’ bracelet.”

Mushpuff then went “huzzah!” and thrusted his paw forwards, hoping something would happen. Luckily for him, he was prevented from looking stupid by the fact that the bracelet did in fact do something. As soon as he thrusted his paw forward, seven lasers shot out of the beads that spelled Yalmton, each laser corresponding to the color of the bead that it was coming from. The lasers hit the wall and cracks spread outwards from the point of impact.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“OMG that’s so cool!!” said Mushpuff.

“Zap me!” said Plagiarize. “We can test what it does to organic matter.”

Mushpuff aimed his paw at Plagiarize but luckily he was quickly stopped by Bird, who thought it was not particularly the smartest idea he had ever heard.

“Well, let’s go down Bird’s path and see what else we can find,” said Mushpuff, rocking his new bracelet.

And so the five of them made their way out of Mushpuff’s tunnel, passed past Hoofa and Qaeron, and entered Bird’s tunnel. As before, they had to make their way down numerous sets of stairs. At the bottom was a turn in the path, and on the ground was a broken twig.

“That’s the twig I stepped on that caused them to start chasing me, yo,” said Bird. “I bet they put it there purposefully!”

“Where did they even get a stick from?” asked Snorter. “I haven’t seen a single tree on this planet yet. Or any proof of the existence of trees, other than that twig.”

“Perhaps they’re growing trees in this place,” suggested Mushpuff. “And as soon as we turn the corner, there’s going to be an entire forest!!”

As it turned out, as soon as they turned the corner, there was not an entire forest. What was there was far more terrifying. There was a second bracelet… but it was being STOLEN by a SQUIRREL!!
