54. Being Proposed To By Master Blacksmith Garret

They were standing in front of a district that looked completely normal and Lily would never guess that it was a black market if Fergus hadn't mentioned it. Since they were already here, she might as well steal the free things if they even existed in a black market.

She looked at Fergus and asked, "Is there a library here by any chance?"

"Yes, but then again, no one is interested in them," he replied, knowing what she had in mind.

"but it's not skill books so are you still interested in them?”

“As I told the sneaky perfect ass pope. I love books.” Lily replied, smiling.

It wasn't a lie, but she didn't see it as the holiest thing in the world.

After 5 minutes they stood in front of a small black building that reminded Lily of a creepy nightclub but this time it wasn't locked. Since Fergus had said it was a library, she trusted him.

They went inside and to her surprise no one was there. It was a small room that reminded her of an antique place. There were vases, old furniture and she even saw a collection of hats stacked on top of each other. She could also see a mute servant made of dark wood which surprised her. It was very old-fashioned, and it almost looked like someone lived here. In that case, she couldn't take these books. She couldn't risk that the black market put a bounty on her because then she knew there was no way out.

"Are you sure I can take these books?" she asked nervously.

"Like I said, no one has touched them in 10,000 years." Fergus replied, smiling.

When she heard his words, it was music to her ears and ran around taking all the books at once. Even if it wasn't skill books there could be guides to other things in the world.

When they got outside and were about to leave the building, they heard a man's voice say, "Excuse me, but I saw you take those books."

Argh, Lily nearly went into cardiac arrest when she heard him and turned around with red ears. Why did Fergus say no one was interested in the books when in fact someone was watching them. She guessed there was some kind of alarm when you touched a book.

“Greetings almighty lord. I thought it was a shame that they had to gather dust, so I planned to read them.” she replied humbly.

When the man heard her, his eyes lit up as if he had heard something beautiful.

“I am not a lord, but my master is interested in meeting you. Do you have time to visit him?” he asked.

Lily had had enough of old sneaky stutter and this place was the black market, so she had no desire to have anything to do with that man. Since it was the black market, they couldn't force people to do anything since she knew there were specific rules that everyone had to follow.

She smiled and said kindly, “Unfortunately, I don't have time. Farewell.” and turned but before she could take a step, she heard a voice:

You have accepted Master Blacksmith Garret's invitation. Cannot be rejected

Again, she felt like strangling the system.

She turned to the man who smiled kindly at her, but she only saw an evil man laughing at her. No, it was wrong for her to judge this innocent man because it was his master who had forced her.

"Show the way." she said and sighed.

As they walked Fergus looked at her and said, “You're always quick to change your mind. I've never met someone who could change their mind so quickly. You are truly special.”

Lily couldn't possibly tell him that it was the rotten system that was a blessing that forced her at the same time.

“I have mood swings so it's very normal. You have to get used to it.” she replied irritably.

5 minutes later they stood in front of a blacksmith's building which looked like something from the Middle Ages, but the building was made of red brick. There was a black thatched roof and there were people standing outside doing various activities. It surprised Lily that there were women who forged iron.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

They entered the building and to her surprise they stood in a huge garden that looked like a field because there was a forest behind it. It was an open garden without an enclosure. There were different kinds of furnaces all over the place and she could smell molten iron, smoke, and other things.

They were shown to a small wooden table where a man was sitting who was about to eat. It looked like soup and some bread and there were vegetables and meat. It looked boring but the man seemed to be fine with it. He had medium long black hair, dark eyes and was tall and slim but had obvious muscles on his arms. He was wearing a long-sleeved green shirt and a black leather apron. He was a handsome man and looked like he was only in his early 40s.

He looked at her and said, "Take a seat." and pointed to a chair opposite him.

Lily sat down and looked at him nervously because she didn't know if he was also a crazy man like the others.

" Hail Almighty Man." she said.

“I am not omnipotent. It's just a title.” Garret said.

"No, it’s not true. You are the most powerful person I’ve ever met.” Lily said, trying to praise him to the skies, hoping she could get away with sweet words.

To her shock, she heard:

Master Blacksmith Garret hates complements and flattery. If you continue he will kill you on the spot

She wanted to scream like crazy again and run around tearing her hair. She forced a smile on her face and looked at him and could see that he looked very angry.

If flattery didn't help, she had to save it the other way.

“You are a puny man to look at. That food says it all.” she said pointing to the soup.

When Garret heard her, his expression changed and he replied, "My wife left me because I didn't have time for her."

Wow, she couldn't believe her ears that her choice of words had saved her ass.

In that case, she could still try to get out of the situation.

“I am an excellent cook.” she said looking at him.

Garret lit up and looked like a new man and asked, "Will you marry me?"

Fuck, she swore because she had no intention of marrying a crazy man.

“I already have a husband.” She lied, planning to use Ace as a shield.

"Where is he? I will kill him.” Garrett said.

To Lily's shock, she heard a voice:

You have achieved maxed rage with Master Blacksmith Garret but because you have offered to cook for him he has refrained from killing you

She had not offered to cook for him but only mentioned that she was a cook.

What the hell was wrong with that system?

She didn't want Ace to die and said, "I can come over sometimes with food for you and make sure you eat properly."

You have achieved max charm with Master Blacksmith Garret

She wanted to strangle the system again.

Fuck me, she cursed and looked at him angrily.

"It is sweet of you. Thank you very much. You are an angel. You will be my new baby.” Garret said, his cheeks blushed.

Oh my god, she sighed and asked, “Why do you want to see me?”

“You said you wanted to use the books even though no one was interested in them. It means you have a good heart.” Garret replied.

He took out a long silver sword with a gold hilt that looked like Excalibur, but Lily had already seen it on William. There were never two of a kind unless one was false.

“This sword belongs to a person, but since I don't have time, I haven't been able to hand it over. Furthermore, the man is difficult to communicate with. Can you bring it to him for me?”

She wasn't stupid. If this man couldn't communicate with his friend, it meant he was just another grumpy old sneaky stutter. There was no way she could have anything to do with him. Since she had gotten on his good side, that meant he could accept her turning him down.

"Unfortunately, I don't have time even if I wanted to." she answered.

You have agreed to bring Excalibur to Alchemy Master Nicolas Flamel

What the heck!

She was shocked again because she couldn't refuse but she had always wanted to meet Nicolas Flamel because he was associated with the philosopher's stone.

She looked at the sword again now in admiration for she had always dreamed of seeing it for real in physical form since it was only a myth.

So that sword was really Excalibur, but it belonged to King Arthur so did that mean he existed too?

She took the sword and stood up but as she was about to leave Garret said, “Can you bring this dagger to a friend? I fixed it for her.”

She knew it was still a trap but since she had already accepted Excalibur, he shouldn't be able to ask her for more favors.

She bowed to him and said and kindly declined, "Unfortunately, I don't have time now as I have to bring Excalibur to that person." and turned around but suddenly she heard a voice:

You have agreed to bring the dagger to Master Blacksmith Zaila. If you fail you will feel Master Blacksmith Garret and Master Blacksmith Zaila's wrath. You have 60 minutes. Countdown

She was shocked and looked angrily at the man and since she couldn't get out of the system she might as well scold him. He couldn't punish her now that she had accepted 2 favors from him.

“You sneaky clammy asshole. I hope you die a lonely man with a bunch of angry cats shitting and pissing on you all the time.” she said pointing at him as her eyes shot fire.

You have achieved Garret's max wrath but if you accept his proposal he will not kill you

Argh, she wanted to melt the system in acid.

She saw that Garret had a big smile plastered all over his face and she was almost blinded by it, but behind it was a sneaky man who exploited the system to the extreme.

She was so offended that she said, "I'll give you an answer another day." she turned, and they hurried away.
