Walking from Joe’s to Adventurer’s Guild branch in the northeast, was a short few minute walk. With dark clouds above, gray stone below. A depressing sight was shown for these few minutes.
Taking a more thorough look around. Jessica saw a very few goblins, mainly humans, while every once in a while there were signs of an animal tribe person with low linage. One couldn’t contribute the number of humans to humans alone.
While goblins were few, those that had decent intelligence while being Grade F and E were from a strong linage. Depending on how human-like they were, would give you an idea of how strong their parents were.
Those from animal tribes were even more difficult to determine. Only those with weak and low lineages had signs of their animal tribe characteristics. This wasn’t counting those adopted by the tribe. While rare, the animal tribes were generally the same, if a child was worth adopting they wouldn’t hesitate.
Saleh was originally human, however, as he grew stronger, the transformation from human to animal would increase. She didn’t dare ask how, as someone who had blood that wasn’t all human, the thought caused her to panic slightly.
Though for him and those like him, it was a decision they made. So while looking around, these so-called humans, might not all be human. As for the races that she was unfamiliar with, outside of dragons, there were a number of different races.
Dwarfs should make up for at least of a third of the human population, without being able to observe, the slightly short stature was the only defining feature. Without a closer look, it could be very hard to tell the two a part.
The issue was, there was a number of people she saw with scales. She didn’t know enough, however something told her these people weren’t all from an animal tribe. Ultimately, it was none of her business.
Like those around her, she soon lowered her head as she watched where she was going. No longer paying attention to the mass as a whole.
Walking through the doors, she was greeted by a slight sound barrier. The two weren’t too far different, both had their own noises that were distinctively different. It was a similar, yet foreign feeling. Like eating the same dish with different spices.
Moving towards a wall, she started to find that each grouping showcased different objectives. While each objective spread out from the middle. Those closer to one side seemed to deviate slightly from a singular objective as the request grew more complicated.
The higher the paper, the higher the difficulty. Though this wasn’t absolute. A few lower ranked requests were placed slightly above those of a higher rank. Even the rewards were higher, with a bit of confusion she seemed to come to an understanding with a short pause.

If she guessed correctly, these requests hid danger. Obviously this was just conjecture, it was impossible to know without taking the request. Though, was she willing to risk her own safety to test a theory? No…
Moving through the crowd, she found herself at a pitifully few pieces of paper. Those around her were rougher than the rest. Danger and a hint of blood seemed to be coming from those in this corner.
Of the number of people in Mercury City, this place had a vastly higher number of people with hooded robes and cloaks. Of those in the building, this corner housed over sixty percent of these individuals.
If each request category started at a single point, they would spread out as the requests shifted away from the middle. Those to the sides had the objective diluted by other things. Those above and below would test one's courage and skill.
However, this corner was different. There was only a single line of requests. They didn’t shift side to side, while the bottom paper started above the header detailing what quests were located here.
Seeing this, Jessica could only frown. There were dungeons in the vicinity. Though, subjugation didn’t get those requests. Here were all the requests, asking the adventurers to kill one ungodly beast or another. Even that wasn’t very detailed.
Instead of the header being subjugation, a more accurate header for these quest was population control. While the description of the creatures could be found. The sky-high difficulty and rewards showed a single line that was on every request. “You will only receive credit for the specific target. Ask to see article 3F for details.”
“Article 3F” was a detailed ledger used in requests that occurred in an overly complicated domain. In such places, the number of possible encounters would reach a staggering number. For that reason, a more accurate description of the target and the geographical location needed to be given.
This was because the creature in question served as a danger to the ecosystem, inhabitants, or simply a shift in behavior seen as too dangerous to leave alone. At the same time, the location was densely populated, hard to reach, or very similar to another of the same species or otherwise not included target.
From the fact that all the request took place either in east or west. It was clear the situation was far worse than she originally thought. There were no subjugation requests in the nearby surroundings.
With a wry smile, she could only glance over the target information before retreating. Such a scene was a common occurrence, therefore, Jessica didn’t receive any extra attention.
Moving her feet, she didn’t leave the building. Moving through a few corridors, she found herself inside a very large open room. The atmosphere was incredibly quiet. Moving over to the desk, she was greeted by empty air.
On the desk counter was a note with an arrow pointing towards a crystal. Injecting mana into the crystal, a display started to interact with her in response. With a look of amazement, she found the characters she was looking for before following the on-screen instructions.
Once she was done, a list of numbers and letters were given out in response. Turning her head, she found something to write with, alongside a small piece of paper. After repeating the process, she took the paper with a list of things she had written down before exploring the aisles filled with books.
