Making more detailed plans, the two sides separated. Jessica and Saleh went back inside to register. This didn't take long.
Registration was a quick and easy process. Even still, it is generally only used in two major ways.
The first is when an adventurer is constantly on the move. By registering their whereabouts, along with their comings and goings. This allows the guild to know your general location.
For this reason, if something happens, they will know where to send someone. Most importantly, doing so allows the adventurer to receive mail and communications long distance. Without the need to stay constantly in one general location.
Else, this also allowed guild people to know your general location. It was a serious crime to betray the Adventurer's Guild. To compensate for such strict restrictions on the staff, the benefits were astonishing.
That isn't to say it isn't impossible. It wouldn’t be the first or last time an adventurer disappeared under mysterious circumstances. If there is no evidence, then there can be no charges.
Secondly, was emergencies. As an adventurer under the Adventurer’s Guild. Once in a while a state of an emergency will be issued. These can be for a number of things, generally used by grade to issue out orders.
Adventurer’s Guild members all had crystals with their information on it. This crystal could receive signals sent out in state of emergencies and issue out preprepared orders. Since you got to enjoy the benefits brought by the Adventurer’s Guild, you were expected to return something.
Never would they order you to do something dangerous. Most the Adventurer’s Guild would do was ask for help in a dangerous situation. Often seen after natural disasters, an issue will go out ordering those in the vicinity to help those affected by that disaster.
Mercury City was different. There were eyes and ears everywhere. If you were here, anyone and everyone would know without effort.
The need to register was straightforward. To track your qualifications. While the process was simple. After showing proof of identity, they simply needed to make a note to update their database, alongside her adventurer proof of identification.
During this process, she was explained a simplified process of what it meant to register here. They also explained one of her recent questions.
The lady processing her was in her late thirties with a sweet smile and very little aging signs. Her voice was soft and gentle, "Now, as you can imagine, as a resident of the northeast. You are required to generate ten gold a month in request revenue."
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Pausing for a moment. Noticing there was no surprise, she continued without missing a beat, "Since this is no easy feat, it should be expected that long distance and time will be required to do this. For this reason, requests are given an allotted time. This is an estimated amount of time a person will actively be doing their job."
Using a crystal on her desk, a screen projecting information to use as a diagram, "If you need to travel to reach your destination before beginning the request, none of that time spent traveling will be part of the estimation. Once at the location, judging based on the request details, an allotted amount of time to finish the request will be part of the time. You have 40 days to generate the ten gold."
After agreeing, she finished registering. Saleh was already sitting by the side waiting. After returning to their lodging. Joe was showing a relaxed expression as he sampled some wine as he had a finished plate in front of him.
As they entered, a man in a blue robe was leaving. He was covered from head to toe, while he gave off mana of a Grade C.
Turning to watch them leave, she caught a nonchalant expression on Saleh's face.
Opening his mouth, there was a decent amount of regret in his voice, "Was that Charles?"
Nodding with a lazy tone, "Yeah, he broke through not a week after you left. What are you two doing back so soon?"
"You remember Claire and Jack? They found a request and were about to look for a few members. They happen to be going into animal tribes' territory, so we were both lucky."
Nodding along Joe looked over, "Those two make a great combination. Their good reputation makes getting exclusive requests easy."
Looking at Jessica, he couldn’t help but give her a piece of advice, "Learn from Saleh, while you shouldn't leave your back open for anyone to stab. As a person who has lived here for decades, you can't survive in this city alone. Not without working yourself to a husk."
After picking up his plate, Joe went through a door behind a counter. Turning to look at Saleh, she asked what had been on her mind, "Do they know you’re related to the wolf tribes?"
Jessica knew Saleh was from the Blue Wolf Tribe. However, the relationship between Claire and Jack looked close. They, on the other hand, seemed to have no idea of his identity.
"No, it isn't anything to really keep quiet about. At the same time, it's not something we blab about ourselves. The animal tribes are a bit animalistic in nature. Having a reputation similar to dark elves. So, most just say they're from animal tribes."
By this time, Joe was back. Since Saleh didn't seem to care, she couldn't help but continue, "They don't suspect anything? They're not that many animal tribes left. It just seems strange."
To which, unexpectedly, she received a strange gaze. Noticing she said something was wrong, she seemed a bit conflicted. What she said wasn't meant to be an insult. However, thinking about it now, it did come off a bit offensive.
Clarifying her confusion was Joe, "It isn't them that is weird, but you. While what you said is right, it is also not really right. Most importantly, very little is known about the animal tribes."
Looking confused still, Saleh spoke this time, "The animal tribes are territorial. Most people aren't allowed in. Those who are close aren't people who share much of their experiences. Since animal tribes don't spread this knowledge, they are respectful to do the same.”
