“As things start out, you will need to enter meditation. Once you connect with the world, you will slowly need to adjust your mindset. In the end stages, you will use this technique to meditate and absorb mana.”
Getting up, he gestured for her to get up, “Move over here. To reach that stage, you will need to learn the process with which you should be controlling the mana.”
Setting down on the floor, he placed his hands on her back as he slowly channeled the mana in his body to enter hers. Because the mana wasn’t her own, it was beyond slow. As to not harm her, he needed to use large amounts of mana.
While the path it took was different than she was used to, when she channeled the technique beforehand it was promptly through the heart. From there, it would flow periodically through her body. Once it reached the position she needed it, it would use the mana that was used to reach there. That mana became a channel allowing mana to flow at increased speeds.
In this way, for a small price in efficiency, she would do a full cycle through her body. This would create a channel to allow mana to move faster than others, making it combat efficient. As for where the unique aspects of the technique that started to show itself at Grade E, she was unsure.
Even more so, this method biggest flaw was that it required a full mana cycle through the body. Meaning, if she was surprised attacked, it put her in a difficult spot. It was also difficult to conceal mana flowing through the body at close range. This became easier when she reached Grade D. As the effects of the unique properties increased.
Unfortunately, Jessica was of the belief that outside of increasing her rank, this technique wouldn’t fix the first problem. Since the mana wasn’t allowed effective entry to her body, it was being fought by her body itself. As an outside mana, that had been refined, her body naturally rejected it. Only by using this method would she find out the effects it had with her being human.
What she was able to notice was that the way it traveled was different, but she wasn’t able to conclusively understand the exact way it would work when she used it. Mana seemed to create small junctions where mana would build up in nodes.
These nodes took time to create, however, strangely as the mana flowed through her body. Tiny bits of mana had built up. Alluding to the fact, these nodes with her mana might become permanent. But it was too early to know.
Once the mana connected two nodes the mana flowing through was able to increase its rate of flow, cycling through her body would have taken an hour. With these nodes the process was cut down drastically. This was because her body was fighting the process.

Victorina was deliberately going slow so she could feel the process, and to ensure no complications occurred. Possibly creating problems or even injuring her, if not done correctly.
“As you follow these paths, you need to concentrate. When I first used the technique, I failed miserably. It somehow found a way to use the brain. In a strange way, it is basically carving out existing paths, creating a bodily function that exists, but isn’t naturally used.”
Seeing her expression, “I don’t know how it works. The profoundness of the technique is far above me. All I know is that something in the brain is being stimulated, these pathways will become natural as you will build muscle memory into physical memory.”
“So why did that make you fail?” Jessica couldn’t help but ignore the first part. If he couldn’t understand it, it was very unlikely she would come to understand it on her own.
By this point, Victorina’s mana slowed down slightly. Turning her head, she was able to see a clouded expression in his eyes. Feeling her gaze, he turned his eyes to meet hers. There was an unspeakable emotion in his eyes.
Letting out a sigh, “Since it is stimulating your brain into turning muscle memory into physical memory, it goes without question. This technique is at the very least stimulating the memory portion of the brain. In doing so, things you wish to forget. Even things that your mind has locked away, too traumatic or horrible to remember. They will be stimulated endlessly in your head.”
A phrase she remembered from their earlier conversation popped into her head as she absentmindedly said it out loud, “Natural born psychopaths.”
Hearing her mumble, Victorina commented as he focused back on finishing the route she needed to remember, “Indeed. In a way, I believe it is this aspect that brings about the unique trait. While psychopaths are seen negatively. They aren’t always dangerous or bad things.”
Hearing this, she wanted to say something, only she waited for him to explain his point of view to decide if she should say anything.
“When you look at psychopaths, you only think of those that are well known. Having done many things to draw enough attention for others to realize their mental disorder. But, the natural state of elves are as such. Outsiders see the care they show to their own immediate family, and think they aren’t real psychopaths.” As he said this, he paused slightly, likely thinking back to his own past.
“As someone that spent a lot of time in an elven society, why do you believe that elves look after their immediate family? Do you think it is because of familial love?”
Jessica, didn’t answer this without thinking. She already had her answer. But she tried to think if that was already the case, however, thoughts were not so easily changed once they had been made. You needed something big to change them, and she had not experienced that.
“No. As a human, I can’t exactly say if it is true. Only, the more I think about it. From what I have seen, they look at their young and old, along with their admiration for the strong. Is all for self-preservation. As they are young, it is difficult for them to protect themselves. This is also true for the old, while not until the end of their lives, mana doesn’t give immortality.”
He didn’t interrupt her, as he could tell she had not completely answered. Sure enough, she soon continued, “For this reason, they take this duty so that when they are young, someone will be there to look after them. The same is clearly evident, for when they get old. It always looked to me, they only did these things for themselves, when they could no longer do it for themselves. Like an exchange, instead of love.”
