Going Back (199)

Going Back (199)

“You already told me, I need to find out the process myself.” Leo spoke without any respect. He was happy that he was able to come this far. Only in the end, he still was not happy with this duo’s actions. Even if he somewhat understood it.

“You have unadulterated access to mana. While this is basically unheard of, your ability to feel mana is on a level that can’t be comprehended. Even a person chosen by the world, would find it difficult to reach the same level of ability to sense mana. Though in another way, it could be said that you are half a chosen yourself, which is why you have that access.”

Seeing the look on Leo’s face, “Don’t get any funny ideas. While this allows you the ability to bypass some of the norms, it doesn’t really do you any good at the moment. At most, it will make it so you can process your mana to that level without going through the natural process. You will need an untold amount of time to understand it at the fundamental level to even begin to exploit this advantage.”

There was nothing he could say. While it was possible to say he had lived many times longer than the average individual. That was isolated and at the mercy of time. Time was never merciful, its cruelty had played a number on his mind. Outside the two, nobody knew how long he had been in this form. Since the two paid very little attention to time, it could be said nobody knew his actual age.

Even then, it was still small compared to the person in front of him. At a certain point, he found it pointless to get overly upset. This didn’t make it go away. Having the anger simmer would allow him to make use of it at a later time.

Thinking about it now, he could say that this time. He had refined his body and soul. Granted, from beginning to end, he had basically only been refining his soul. That was only in a literal sense. Since using an untold method to merge his soul with the sword. That space that connected the two was fixed by refining his soul.

He could still separate, only it was much more difficult now. As a side bonus, he was far more resistant than before. Though there was a limit.

Seeing Leo play with the new combination of runes, Izic couldn’t help but want to pour water on him. So it is what he did, “If you haven’t figured it out by now. The more you progress, the more dangerous it will get. While you won’t have the same disadvantages, you have new ones. One of which is the unknown.”

Without taking the bait he simply waited for him to continue. Sure enough with a sadden expression he spoke again, “It is easier to injure you in your current state. As you progress you must keep in mind that your existence will start to be felt by more than just the powerful.”

Even Elizabeth was getting annoyed by his long-winded way of talking, “What he is saying is that, right now. Only the top, like Evers and those of significant grade can sense your presence. As you get stronger, so too will your existence. While normally it is easier for higher graded individuals to mask themselves, you are the opposite. The stronger you become, using your ability to interact with the world will make it easier to sense you.”

“So the stronger I get, the weaker someone will need to be to feel my existence?” Thinking about it that way, while it was a bit dangerous. His impact on people will increase. He had already seen what a powerful person could do, just exposing their mana could influence others incredibly easily.

Seeing that expression, Izic smiled, “See he doesn’t get it. The more people that sense your existence the more that will be able to interact with you. So far, it is hard to say how many people could damage you without destroying your sword body. Which as you know just destroying it will not necessarily kill you.”

Chuckling a bit, “The world is so vast. While it is very rare for something new to come along to surprise either of us. It has been known to happen. Sooner or later if you keep acting recklessly you will enter the grave without even knowing how.”

A look of disdain appeared on his face, Leo couldn’t help but right this disillusioned person, “I was never much of a reckless person. Not like someone that goes around involving other people. Then allowing them to suffer the unjust consequences of my own actions.”

Seemingly bored watching the two, “What he is saying is that you have lived for a long time without being able to be seen by most people. Now that you have experienced the world, you have enjoyed this experience. Since nobody has been able to sense or see you. Can you really say that what you have been doing before coming here was being cautious?”

Thinking back, he could say that what they said was right. He always thought of himself as cautious as he tended to think about the positives and negatives. Only he never really had direct contact with these subjects. He was just the observer that always said he would not do such stupid things. Now that he had direct access in a way with the outside world. He truly couldn’t act recklessly.

Even if he didn’t have to directly deal with the consequences as very few people could see him now. He would be returning to Jessica. Anything he did could negatively impact her. He had not really thought too deeply about it as he was too excited with his new state.

He was a bit disappointed he had to be reminded of something so obviously. Let alone, need multiple reminders. Since before, little he did could change anything. Combined with his inability to interact with the world, he stopped thinking that deeply about his own actions. Mainly because he couldn’t take any.

Glancing at Izic, he was a bit guarded. Ignoring him he walked to the sword before grabbing it. He wanted to protest, but he knew that it would be necessary. He had to start practicing his patience anyways.

“It is time for you to go.” A strange smile appeared on Izic’s face. Giving Leo a bad feeling. Soon that feeling came to fruition. Taking a strange stance he launched the sword into the air with an insane amount of force.

The power used was so strong that Leo could not feel the surroundings as he was moving too fast.

Back in the cave, as Elizabeth was giving him a dirty look. Watching the passage he opened to throw the sword out, start to close. He scratched the back of his head, “What? Are you going to get angry because I am interfering a little?”

Shaking her head lightly, “No, I just sometimes forget how petty you are.”

A strange smile appeared on his face. It appeared she was still upset about the massive amount of energy she had to put into opening up a hole to let Everwood in. She usually always nagged at him for stupidly involving himself in the petty affairs of other people.
