“Escort?”

“Yes.” Turning to look at Everblood, “Teacher introduced the client. It is a bit special. If you’re interested, we can go meet the client and decide for yourself if you’re interested.”

There wasn’t much to go on. By the same standard, there wasn’t much of a reason not to at least meet the client. At least, most likely. If Everblood introduced the person, it was likely a somebody. Only, it was strange for them to need Grade E’s for protection.

Agreeing to leave, the three left. As they walked into the streets and disappeared. A few minutes later, a black shadow blurred through the streets as it rushed into the building. Nobody noticed this blur, nor did it cause any disturbance.

Once inside, Azeban could be seen walking to the table. He wasn’t surprised Everblood was gone. With some dissatisfaction, he turned to Joe, “Pour me a glass.”

Fred and Joe turned to look up at him, Fred didn’t stand up. Azeban wasn’t much for ass kissing or formality, so there was no need to stand up on ceremony. Joe tilted the bottle, even though it was new, to calm their nerves the two had drank half a bottle each. There was no more left.

Entering a random warehouse, the trio soon found the inside to be empty. There were only two people inside. Both were women, one old and the other was young.

The young woman was probably in her late teens, she was, from all appearances, a picture-perfect child. Regardless of which angle Jessica looked, this young woman was very attractive. When she noticed them, she turned and smiled as she waved gently to them.

Jessica had seen it once or twice before, it was rare. It was a smile that lightened the mood by making those who saw it feel good by receiving it. It wasn’t just her appearance, even her aura was gentle and refreshing. Furthermore, it was hard to hate such a person, though Jessica didn’t know her, these were her first impressions.

There was a light snort by the older woman. She was clearly gotten on in age, showing light wrinkles by her eyes. Even still, there were still many attractive features that matched the young woman next to her. Pulling on her hand from time to time, playing the role of a spoiled child. This caused the older woman’s expression to soften.

This caused her bad mood to lighten up slightly, as even she found it hard to be mad around this child. Glancing behind the two, “These are the two little brats you brought?”

“Mother, I am sure Uncle Mercury would only bring the best of the best. Thus, we shouldn’t belittle them. It isn’t that they are unfit, this is clearly you looking for problems. I dare say, if Uncle Mercury brought them, we won’t find anyone better. How can we then be rude to them?” Her voice was soft and had a strange ebb and flow, as if constantly gently washing over the person she was talking to.

“Alright, alright, I admit defeat. You’re right.” She smiled sweetly to the girl beside her. However, turning in their direction, there was a slight glint in her eyes.

Seeing this glint caused both Jessica and Saleh to stop for a moment. As if being dropped into concrete, the two of them finally felt a wave of mana so powerful. It was like coming into contact with solid material. As quickly as it came, it left just as fast.

Some unclear thoughts were made known, “The boy checks out. Everything about him isn’t bad, though there isn’t anything very good about him either. As for the girl, she lacks in every department. The only saving grace is the undeniable bloodlust, hidden well, this child has killed. Though she is tainted by a strange madness, though wherever it came from, it is gone. Still, the lingering of it is very strong.”

Saleh had a decent expression until the later part. Jessica was a bit confused and a bit startled, not knowing what to think. Finally, Everblood spoke up, “If you don’t like them, we will leave. I have stayed here too long, so I guess this is goodbye.”

An accusation laden gaze fell on her from the side, feeling this. The woman couldn’t do anything but sigh, “Enough, enough. How can I not be satisfied. They are perfect. Who wouldn’t be happy with a disciple of the one and only Everblood. And the child of Everwood, even if just adopted.”

Jessica was a bit surprised by her words. The young woman seemed a bit confused by this as she gazed at Jessica with a friendly smile. Unlike Everblood, Everwood didn’t have his name spread far and wide. What was confusing to Jessica was the complicated look in her eyes when she looked at her.

“You know my father?” Finding it difficult not to ask, she decided to just do it.

“Yes. We can be said to go back a lot. He has gorged one of my eyes out, cut off my arm three times, and almost cut me in half around two times. Truly, he is an exceptional fighter, someone I can only dream of learning from. However, outside these spares and a few fights, he never took me in as a disciple.”

“Who would want a ghost like you chasing them like a wet blanket. He only spared with you so you wouldn’t chase him down to the ends of the world. Even an Ever needs peace and quiet from time to time.” Everblood spoke with a lot of emotion when he said this.

Seeing the surprise and shock on their face, the young woman giggled softly with her hand over her mouth. Once she was done with eyes squinted into pleasant looking crescent moons hanging over her dimples, “Grandmother is the latest retired elder, she gave her position to Elder Azeban. Now she is just called Helga, Helga Mercury.”

Turning to her side, as if replying to her, “This is my daughter, Cassie.”
