Beast (113)

Beast (113)

Beast, no last name.

Throughout history, if one looked closely, they would notice a strange trend. While not very strange to have no last name. For those in power, they didn’t always share their last name.

One needed to be worthy to hear it. That didn’t mean there weren’t those without one. Normally having a few meanings. Generally along the lines of being someone that came up from nothing.

Secondary, if they were estranged. It wouldn’t be the first time that someone was treated badly, either being kicked out or leaving. Later, if they made a name for themselves, they would often not have a last name as a giant middle finger to those they came from.

This would often last until they settled down. Some married into other families, and some made their own. Often being a point of pride, therefore, they pick a last name for them and their children.

However, looking through history. A few people that make it to the top of society don’t have a last name. Having never been given one, or abandoning it for an unknown reason. If asked, unless when were in the know, they knew these people were out to earn a last name.

Being a rumor, Evers still remained in the dark. Overall, the number of people that could interact with them were simply too low. For that reason, rumors were just rumors. Unless one paid very close attention, too much of history that wasn’t written, or held hidden by the very top of society.

Often hidden in secret libraries. It would be possible to catch a glimpse of these people. Beast was one of these people.

Dwarf communities were more open and a lot of information came into their hands. It could be said that they have a slight advantage in this case. Regardless if one looked from top of society to bottom of dwarf communities.

Joe didn’t know about this. Even being a dwarf with connections. Timmy, was the same. What the name Beast represented was a monster blacksmith. A legendary figure that was said to be the person that created the tools that eradicated the eastern forbidden zone.

Mercury City was near the center of the continent. From the west coast to a couple of hundred miles just shy of Mercury City. The east forbidden zone was also a few hundred miles away from Mercury City.

Where the west has a total of ten boundaries. The eastern forbidden zone only as three. This makes each one more dangerous than the west. The size between the two can’t be compared.

The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.

West ran nearly half the continent, while the other was basically the size of the Elven Forest. While large, when compared to the west, that ran parallel to human and goblin territories. Continuing all the way through a good portion of the animal tribe lands.

East forbidden zone was to have been said to be as dangerous as the west. Beast was the person that created tools that supported the dangerous paths running through the fourth, seventh, and tenth boundaries of the forbidden zone. After stabilizing these paths, they expanded until only a tiny fraction of what was originally uncharted was claimed by the dwarves.

Sounding far-fetched. The creatures inside were things said to be extinct and from legends. The only place to find creatures that were said to only been possible to see during past epochs, existed inside the forbidden zones.

Though these claims were obviously unproven. If one actually met such creatures, they wouldn’t be able to tell anyone else about them, as the dead couldn’t speak. Still rumors spread of such beings. Everyone believed the forbidden zone wasn’t nearly as dangerous as originally believed, when it happened.

How else could you explain how a man that was only Grade B at the time, create a weapon to open up such paths. That was until the story provoked a dragon.

Not a human or other species with minuscule amounts of dragon blood being produced in their body. No, this was a real pure-blooded dragon. Having razed a dwarves outskirts city to the ground.

Just happen to pass through one of the original paths, the weapons also just happened to be ready at that location.

The story said the dragon was heavily injured. However, Timmy knew differently. A strange rumor said that the dragon wasn’t injured, no, they were killed. Not just killed, they were massacred by a weapon created by a Grade B.

Some believed this rumor, others thought the dwarves were just bragging. Since Timmy knew the truth, so did Joe. Therefore, when he heard this man’s name, there was a strange glint in Joe’s eyes.

Timmy was the blacksmith, however, he could understand. Beast wasn’t just a blacksmith legend, he was a dwarf legend. So that begged the question. How did a dwarf legend get to be called uncle by a human?

Worse was Saleh, he also didn’t know who this man was. He was on edge because he knew who his teacher was. Since he was being slightly respectful, he had no choice but to be extra respectful. Only now did he realize who this dwarf was.

While Joe and Timmy questioned the two’s relationship, Saleh wanted to know who the fuck was Jessica. She was adopted by an elf Ever. Now she was niece of a legendary dwarf blacksmith.

“Uncle Beast, have you… Heard from my father?” Her voice was almost a whisper as she embraced Beast very tightly. Seemingly longing and terrified to hear the answer. As emotions swirled in her heart, her ears listened for any sound.

When Beast didn’t answer her, she gripped him even tighter. Her fingers turned white as she held him, so tightly the blood couldn’t get through.

At some unknown time, having sensed the fluctuations, Leo came out. Seeing Beast, he seemed surprised. He had heard the question, and even his heart started to drop when he saw the look in Beast’s eyes.

Heaving an exceptionally deep sigh, he nodded at Leo. Having no ability to sense or see him, nobody, not even Saleh noticed this. Currently, he was preoccupied and failed to notice the strange beings' appearance. Soon his voice came out, “He is gone.”
