His hands and back were badly burned, but it was his face that took the worst of it, making it all the more heartbreaking.
Elle's heart ached as she gazed at his half-burned face. Her gentle fingers traced the scarred lines softly, her eyes welling up with unshed tears.
"Does it hurt a lot?"
He shook his head. "No, it doesn't."
"Did you think you wouldn't make it, so you set everything up for us?" Her voice trembled, her heart nearly breaking.
She had seen Casper's will.
He had meticulously planned every detail for her and their child's future.
But how could she just accept his careful and thorough arrangements?
Casper never thought he'd pull through.
Nor did he ever imagine he'd end up burned like this. There were so many things he hadn't seen coming, like having the woman he loved in his arms now, a scene he never dared to dream of. "Elle, aren't you scared?"
"Scared of what?" She met his gaze. "Do you think I should be scared of you?"
Casper couldn't grasp why Eliza wasn't afraid.
He remembered how, back in the hospital, the nurses would scream at the sight of him and secretly gave him some pretty nasty nicknames.
He assumed she'd feel the same way they did.
"Nobody isn't scared of me looking like this," he said quietly.
Eliza cupped his face and kissed his injured cheek gently. "They're scared because they don't know you. We..."
She hesitated, a realization hitting her.
She was now his ex-wife.
It seemed like they didn't have a connection anymore.
"...I forgot, you divorced me. Now, we... don't have a relationship. I take back my kiss." She started to get up as she spoke.
"Don't, don't take it back," he quickly held her down, his eyes full of regret, "It was my mistake. Can we get back together, please?"
"Get back together?" She forced a smile, her delicate fingers pinching Casper's chin, "You think you can just divorce me and then decide to get back together whenever you want? What do you take me for?"
"My wife," he said, catching her hand and leaning in to kiss her.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Eliza dodged him. "Casper, if you want us to get back together, you need to show me."
"How should I show you?" He asked eagerly, almost like a confused kid.
Eliza touched his forehead, her brow furrowing slightly. "Did that accident mess up your brain too?"
"It's not messed up." He grabbed her hand and placed it on his chest, "Here... it's perfectly fine."
Eliza felt something firm and was momentarily surprised.
Her cheeks flushed, "Then why did you say it was broken just now?"
"I was just messing with you. The burns are all on my back and side of my face. I don't really know how it all happened; it was probably when the plane crashed and I parachuted into the fire." en
Casper recounted his accident story.
Eliza was taken aback; she was curious about how he had miraculously survived. "You parachuted? Then how..."
"The shockwave was massive. If I hadn't landed in a tree, I probably wouldn't have made it." Actually, the doctors had all but written him off, "Being alive is a lucky break, Dnever thought I'd make it."
Being alive is definitely something to be thankful for.
But just being alive isn't the goal.
Living well is the ultimate goal.
"Casper, you should think about plastic surgery to treat the scars on your face, back, and hands. I'll be with you."
His eyes darkened instantly. She still couldn't stand his gruesome appearance.
Seeing him so downcast,
Eliza knew he was overthinking again.
"Casper, you're only thirty, your life is just beginning. How can you just give up like this? If you keep this up, how can I see a future with you? How can we get back together?" "I've embarrassed you." His voice was heavy with despair, a trace of sadness in his eyes.
