(Eden’s Pov).
At evening, I stepped into the dining hall, and the first person that caught my attention was Eros. He sat by the dining table, his gaze was fixed on a document in his hand.
Just then, he looked up, and his eyes met mine, and he smiled.
“You’re up, Love. How was your nap?.” He asking, standing up to join me by the side.
“It was good.” I said softly.
“You look beautiful.” His gaze scanned my length, and I felt tingles run through me.
The way he looked at me made goosebumps rise on my skin. My face was flushed.
“You look good too.” I said quickly and averted my gaze.
There was no getting used to the way Eros made me feel. Despite the nights of passionate lovemaking we’ve spent together, I can’t help the way I melt anytime he looks at me with desire in his eyes.
Eros took my hand in his and led me to a seat. He stood behind a chair and pulled it back for me to sit on.
“Thank you,” I said. He nodded and sat back down on his seat, which was directly opposite mine.
The maids scurried in and began to drop different delicacies on the table. Our plates were filled with deliciously looking food.
When they were done, they left Eros and me to be alone. The silence between us was peaceful. The only sound made came from the clink of our silverware against the plates.
Eros was composed. Every movement he made was deliberate and calm.
I was the opposite. My mind was still occupied with thoughts about my Mom and Dad.
Since yesterday, after I confronted Lord Shevek, I hadn’t heard a single word from him. Every hope of him going after my mother was slowly beginning to fade.
I realized that it must have been too rash of me to assume that they would ever get back together.
The sound of the doors opening pulled my attention to Ryker, who strolled into the dining room with a slight swagger in his steps.
Lord Shevek might not be his biological father, but Ryker acts just like him. It must be the influence of living together for
years.
Ryker wore a smirk on his face as soon as he saw me. He winked, and I rolled my eyes.
Eros finally noticed Ryker, who had a teasing glint in his eyes.
“Well, look who we have here. Enjoying our cozy meal, are you?” His voice dripped with mockery as he sauntered to the
table.
Eros’s eyes widened, his gaze fixed on Ryker, who casually pulled out the chair positioned at the head of the table, the same place Lord Shevek sits at dinner.
Ryker slumped into the chair, his movements intentionally irritating.
Eros didn’t seem fazed, instead, he looked at Ryker in awe.
“I thought I imagined it.” Eros said softly.
Ryker chuckled. 1 frowned.
“Imagined what?” I raised a brow.
“Him.” Eros nudged his chin towards Ryker. “I can’t believe he is here.”

His words reminded me of the initiation night, and I felt the urge to ask him what happened that night, but this was neither the place nor the time, not with Ryker waiting for any opportunity to cause chaos.
“And I can’t believe you’re here either, sitting like you didn’t try to kill me a few days ago.” Ryker rolled his eyes.
Eros frowned but said nothing.
The tension in the room increased as the silence grew stronger. A maid walked in and quickly attended to Ryker before she scurried away.
Ryker kept his gaze on Eros, who ignored him.
I felt uneasy. Desperate to break the uncomfortable atmosphere, I dropped my spoon with a loud clang and faced Ryker.
“Are you just here to make things uncomfortable?” I frowned.
“You know, this isn’t how you should talk to someone who is currently in charge of the coven right now.” Ryker smiled.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
Ryker leaned in. “Lord Shevek is gone. He went after your mother.” He leaned back. “And since he is quite… busy, that leaves me in charge. You are not his heir yet, remember?”
I scoffed. Wasn’t it obvious enough that I had no interest in that? But I was more interested in what he said before that.
“Lord Shevek went after my mother?” I asked.
Ryker nodded. “Rose sure knows how to snag herself a powerful man.”
“That’s enough.” I bit out. I wouldn’t take to him speaking rudely about my mother.
Ryker raised a hand in surrender. “Just a joke.”
Eros didn’t react to our conversations. He was way too calm and collected, and I wasn’t sure if I should be impressed or a little annoyed that he didn’t speak up.
Irked by his silence, Ryker leaned forward again, drumming his fingers against the smooth dining table.
“You are too quiet.” He said and narrowed his gaze on Eros, “Don’t you have anything to say?”
I bit my lower lip. I knew what Ryker was doing. He was deliberately trying to irritate Eros just to get a reaction, and it was obvious he was not going to succeed. This belongs to .
It was an amusing sight, watching the two brothers in a silent face–off. Ryker’s persistence reminded me of a younger brother who was desperate for attention, while Eden gives off the feel of an older brother who knew better.
I found it so amusing that I couldn’t hold back a chuckle. Both men looked at me. Ryker wore a confused expression while Eros raised an eyebrow.

Just then, a maid walked in. Her eyes scanned the three of us before she finally settled on Eros.
“Prince Eros,” She called out. “There are men outside who want to see you.”
Eros perked up in surprise “What men?” He asked.
“I wasn’t told names.” She said quickly.
Eros and 1 exchanged a look before he stood up. I followed, walking out of the mansion by his side.
We got outside with Ryker tagging behind us. We stood before twelve strange men, who gave off such domineering aura— it was so overwhelming that it couldn’t be ignored.
I heard Eros sigh deeply “the elders,” he whispered.
“It’s time.” They chorused.
A chill ran down my spine. I knew they had come for heir King and Queen.
