Chapter 506

'He started his own company. Built it from the ground up. He's like a gazillionaire now. But it couldn't have been easy. He must've gone through a lot. He just never talks about it. He's very quiet, you know.' Austyn nodded.

'What else?' Kira tapped a finger on her chin. 'Hmm, let me think... Oh, and he's extremely good-looking. Handsome as sin."

Austyn smiled.

'I bet he'd make a killing if he works as a gigolo."

The smile on his face vanished.

Kira babbled on, talking about her husband the goodest guy in the world.

Austyn was surprised by how observant she was.

She noticed some habits of his that even he wasn't aware of.

Like how he didn't care which suit he wore, but the colour of his watch had to match the

colour of his tie.

Ever since he started wearing the Timex Marlin watch, all his ties had been black.

He was a picky eater, stayed away from beans, claimed to hate all desserts but had a weakness for chocolates-she caught him going for an extra helping of chocolate mousse the other day.

He had this thing of checking the rearview mirrors twice before starting the car, both the one on the driver's side and the one above the dashboard.

At first, Kira thought he was stealing glances at her and looked

away, blushing.

'But later I realised, he's checking for cars behind us, not looking at me,' she huffed.

Austyn chuckled.

But he was by no means a cautious driver.

When he got mad, he drove like the devil.

Austyn leaned against the concrete pillar and stretched out his long legs, listening to Kira complain about his driving with a smile on his face.

An occasional club patron passed them by, giving them curious glances.

Some recognised the M Group's president, but none dared approach.

For the first time in his life, Austyn didn't mind getting stared at like a circus monkey.

He noticed none of the strangers' looks.

All his attention was on the woman next to him, who was rambling on, occasionally slurring her words.

He lowered his eyes,

emotions welling up in his chest.

He thought he knew Kira pretty well, but he'd never thought she knew him even better.

Kira eventually ran out of steam.

Her mouth was parched.

Austyn ruffled her long hair. 'Come on. Let's go home.'

Kira had let go of the concrete pillar.

She was now squatting on the floor with her elbows on her knees.Exclusive content from .

With her flushed cheeks, she looked like a tomato frog.

"Can you get up?"

Kira tried but failed.

Her legs had fallen asleep.

Kira closed her eyes, feeling dizzy.

He scooped her up in his arms.

Kira squirmed and put up a feeble protest.

'Don't move, or I'll drop you.'

'Put me down!' Kira thought she was shouting, but it came out as a whimper.

Austyn ignored her.

She pouted but gave up struggling anyway.

Moving made her feel faint.

Austyn settled her into the front passenger seat of the Hummer.

By the time he got in on the driver's side, Kira was halfway out of the car, trying to get away from this kidnapper who looked strangely familiar. Austyn felt a headache coming on.

Of the seven types of drunks, Kira was definitely the reckless one.

He hauled her back into the seat and buckled her seatbelt over her vehement objections.

Then he pressed a key on the electronic dashboard.

The car doors thunked shut.

'Let me out!' Kira banged on the tempered glass like she was a prisoner. 'Let me out!'

"Will you just sit still!' Austyn pinched her cheek 'Don't make me spank you.'

His phone rang before Kira could protest further.

Austyn let her thump futilely at the glass while he glanced at his phone screen.

Deborah was calling.

Austyn let the call go to voicemail.

He looked up and saw Kira staring right at him, the tips of their noses almost touching.

He leaned back. 'What are you doing?"

Kira blew a raspberry and returned to her seat.

Austyn shook his head, chuckling to himself.

He wondered what Kira was like when she was a kid.

Was she as rumbustious as she was now?

He moved closer to her.

Kira turned to give him a quizzical look.

She stared at him, unblinking.

Austyn saw his reflection in her big, round, clear eyes.

They were slightly red, the result of the bout of crying back when she thought Austyn was an abductor.

She had an open, guileless face.
