Part 1 – One Final Battle ends

“Alexandra you take care of the front lines, Viv you make sure you don't any of them go!” I shouted.

In the mist of this I chopped down a couple of men easily as a level 350 player. The divine sword in my hand was stain red with blood from countless foes I killed today.

Fire Formation ? Blast Form ? Fire Blast

I gathered the spell in my hand and pushed it into a person making him explode into fire. Thanks to this I managed to draw some aggro on me which wasn't that bad now as before.

“Sword Waves!” I heard Alexandra shout with several streams of destruction shattering about leaving nothing left of her foes. Alexandra like me chopped down so many people today that we were literally covered in blood. Viv on the other hand was the only one not in this state.

“Thinny! Did you get rid of the enemy generals yet?!”

A tall thin man appeared next to me naturally in this battlefield which was a show of his skills to not be noticed even here.

“Both of the ones in the right flanks are dead however the left flank has some skilled people on their side so it may take another 10 minutes until the army can take advantage of the chaos” with those words Thinny disappeared as well to do his job.

I looked to the right and found that Alexandra was there taking advantage of anything and leading the men to crush the enemy there. In that case I should take care of the left flank while Viv can get behind them and attack there later in the battle.

“Eden a report came in from the ally forces” said Risene who killed a few people just to get to me. Her outfit was quite revealing in the sense that people take notice of her in this battlefield but her skills were enough to not die so easily.

“What is it?” I asked kicking a person running up to me with a sword. I stole the sword and impaled it vertically into the same person before he died with a scream.

“They wish to ask you to get rid of the enemy entirely.” said Risene reporting the grave news.

“Bullshit! We're not here to win their battles! Tell them if I hear more of this I'll go to the other side!”

I shattered mana bolts everywhere around me causing deaths all around me. Naturally this attack didn't hit Risene since I didn't aim at her. Risene disappeared to go back to the ally base where the commanders were discussing things on the battle while the rest of us fought to the death here.

I checked the timer on my buffs. I had around a hour left on Dragonic Overload and Magic King Drive already expired for today. I guess its a suicide charge from now on. I looked at the sun and it was near evening which would make things easier for me.

“Full Dragon Transformation!”

I turned into my Dragon form and flew to the left flank where I started them out from the inside out.

Dragon Breath!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

A large ball of intense mana left my mouth and completely destroyed the back line where the mages and priests were. At the front they were too focused on taking on the enemy in front of them while the middle ranks were all focused on me.

At this rate I might actually die.

But then a large horn blew on the enemy side. It was the retreat one.

I smiled since it would mean it was Viv's turn to shine in the forest where thousands of the enemy ran.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” screams of horror were heard as I took that as a cue to retreat as well.

The battle was won a few hours later with no survivors on the enemy side.

Part 2 – Peace

The city was crowded with people celebrating. Balloons were everywhere in sight as well as a festival spirit that simply overwhelmed the aftermath of the war.

“They really completed this place in a few months eh....” I muttered out seeing that this city didn't even exist a few months ago. I walked with Alexandra and Viv around the city who was celebrating the end of the 5 year war that occurred in the western continent.

All kinda of food were brought in and it was simply one big party for the upcoming crowning. I took out the food that I brought earlier and ate some.

Ate delicious food!

Vitality and Stamina increase by 12% for 2 hours

How interesting, food can increase stats like that. I suppose now there's a reason to buy and eat good food besides just for the good taste.

“Ahhhh!”

“Hyaaaaa!”

“Hmm...it looks like there's still some conflict here” said Alexandra looking at one of the fights are erupted in the middle of the street.

“Why you damn barbarian!” shouted a man in knight armour, the other followed the insults by curses to the knight's family name and such. This person looked to be a soldier at the very least. Both of them were NPCs since players wouldn't care much about those kinds of things in this game.

The soldier pounded at the knight's face in which the knight punched him back and so fought.

“Fight Fight Fight” the crowd cheered.

Geez.....you guys just got out of a war and now you're already striving for more conflict? I sighed at the stupidity of such simple people who knew nothing of all the hard work don't to start and stop that war.

“You there! Stop now and do not resist!”

Quickly a few knights in white armour unlike the knight that was fighting came and restrained both sides and took them away smoothly. The crowd disappeared when the source of entertainment disappeared.

“Say...want to split up?” asked Alexandra which was surprising. She was the type of person who would want other people to be dragged into her bad business, “We would cover more to have fun separately. Plus I want to look at the new training facilities that they made”

So that's what she's hoping for. Viv was a magic user so he's never going to want to go there and I have no interest in those kinds of things.

“Sure, I want to check out the equipment store anyway” I replied.

“I think there may be some more good food out there for me” said Viv in a serious tone as if we were still in the battlefield.

“Haha.”

With a laugh we split up and went out separate ways. As such I was simply doing nothing at all important until the time came to be. But this is a good time to explain some things.

Since the incident with the other me which literally became me, it had been a year. Why a year? Simple because that's how long it took to truly bring peace to this side of the continent though I was main cause of why war broke out but no one really wants to know...right?

Via several means of selecting the most worthy King since I rather not put a fat lazy pig on the throne since they will be too annoying to deal with, I manipulated the battlefields with the others in order to let the better candidate win instead of the others. Why would I do this?

Think about it. Who would be easier to get on the throne? A fat lazy King that everyone hates or a strong dependable King that everyone loves? But this wasn't that easy to do.

Several times we had to outright directly interfere with the battle by slaughtering the other side since the side we want to win was outnumbered most of the time. Though thanks to that for some reason my infamy decreased rather than increased. There were times were assassinations of the other side had to be done and eventually it went down to two sides months ago where the 'final' battle took place between both sides.

One side was the white knight that was clearly the hero type and a NPC while the other side was also a knight but was a player. Naturally to threaten royalty would require them to fear death but players don't fear death as much as NPCs in this game so I decided to go with the white knight's side in order to let him win.

Several days later with me, Alexandra and Viv, the other side was completely annihilated without a trace of life. I may have....cough....overdid it there and thank to that there were stories about us. Well Alexandra was somewhat known but me and Viv.....well really just Viv wasn't that well known yet. I on the other hand was more than often called a demon or a monster but this time it seems my reputation increased with helping the victor's side.

“Hmm....what going on there? Opening day special?” There was a line of players waiting to get in the stores on the main street.

Well any way I should do some shopping at least since I am running low on supplies and perhaps there may be good items to buy as well.

I entered one of the shops near the main street of the city that didn't have a long line to save time.

“This sword has +5 to cold blooded monsters!”

“Found a shield that does reflection damage!”

“There's a sale on boots that increase movement speed!”

It was filled with players already so at least there's some sense that this place isn't useless. There were stacks of new weapons and armours that were in this shop. But the things to look for in this place were the necklaces and rings that were being sold.

There were strangely not a lot of people in that section....

Was it because the rest of store had better products?

Having the Dragon Necklace already, I didn't need to buy another necklace but it would be nice to have some more rings or other stuff that may help me later. You can't be too prepared for the unknown with my luck....took a stroll and fell into a dungeon with a sewer troll as a boss.....

I started looking around for things to buy. There was a whole section on rings which I would actually like to buy.

They were split into several categories; those which increased stats, increased resistance and those which have other properties that aren't in the first two. Naturally I went to the third category since I believe I have enough stats and resistances for the average person.

I took one of the rings and inspected it.

Ring of Summoning Line

Made of uncommon metal, it processes powers to enchant summoning magic.

Options:

- Increase Summoning length by 6%

- Increase Summon stats by 3%

This wasn't that bad to the average person but on label it said that it cost 150 gold which in my mind was a rip off even though I didn't use summoning magic....hmm....maybe I should learn it later since it seems useful.

I checked the next one as well.

Ring of Increased Fleeing

Made to increase the agility of the wearer from retreating from battle

Options:

- Increase agility by 10% when fleeing

This ring was priced at 30 gold unlike the other ring since this ring was immediately worse than the last one and was only useful when you were fleeing in the first place.

The only reason I would think anyone would want this is that they have low combat abilities and are more likely to flee for their life than to stand and fight. Namely the merchants and other non-combat classes.

Now that I think about it, its kinda because most of these rings are crappy and yet have such a high price tag that the other players aren't looking through this section.

However rings were rarer than other equipment with necklaces and earrings being the most rare and expensive. I guess its because most people have lots of rings already that they aren't buying them here since most of the customers were high levelled players like me who were over level 350.

Speaking of earrings, I might get a pair since I don't have anything in those slots.

But first I need to get 10 rings since I have nothing there and it would be a waste not to use those slots.

I looked over the rings again and found a bunch that had the same effect. It was something that you could be indefinitely via a quest it would seem and many players sold them here when they got extras or better rings.

Ring of increased power

Made of common metal and yet it increases strength and vitality a bit.

Options:

- Strength +1%

- Vitality +1%

The effects were minimum at best but if you wore 10 of them that would mean you would be a 10% buff in both strength and vitality. That was a pretty good deal if you think about it.

I took 10 of those rings and bought them all at a discounted price of 40 gold, a 20% discount due to  a variety factors....cough.....very high infamy....cough....high charm....cough

“Since you brought those rings would I interest you young lady in something a bit special?” the shopkeeper said.

It was apparent that this was something special since a number of players stopped what they were doing to listen in. I have a feeling I might meet some of those players later....

The shopkeeper opened a box that was laced in black metal and reveal.....a pair of earrings. Wow....this world is really giving me what I need now isn't it? These earrings were pretty small but were coloured in a light blue light which meant that it was magical. Plus I could feel mana coming from it.

“This gem was in possession in my family for generations. It is the pride and joy of this family for so long” said the shopkeeper getting emotional on the sight of the earrings.

I gave a wry smile, “And yet I bet you are willing to sell it for a price.”

The shopkeeper chuckled and said, “That's only because no one get the interest of this one. You see this pair of earrings is a bit special. It has something in it, a familiar you could say but I have really no idea what it is. You're the first person it took an interest in and I be damn if I could find another person like you in a few generations.”

I thought about it for a bit. I did consider trying to learn summoning magic but having a potential familiar would be nice as well. I could let it lure in enemies for me. But first I need to do something first.

“How much?”

“30000 gold.”

That was a bit high for something I don't even know what it would be.

“10000 gold.”

Although I had way more money than that I would like not to waste thousands of gold if this turned up to be useless.

“25000 gold, I won't go any lower than that so we might as well stop the bartering game. Anything below that and I won't be able to face my ancestors.”

Hmm....should I buy it.....might as well. 25K gold is only a quarter of my total wealth right now and I don't need money since I already have a home and don't plan on travelling too much.

I took out the 25K gold and gave it to the shopkeeper to the shock of everyone else in the store and looked at it to see its details.

Divine Earring of the 6th Saint Alecaro

Made with impossible to final materials, this pair of earrings was made by the hands of a master blacksmith and jeweller. The materials were then enhanced by the hands of a master enchanter to give the effects of protection and the soul of a mighty beast had been stored in here to be summoned for duty.

Requirements:

- Level 300

- Intelligent and Wisdom over 300

Options:

- Defence +20%

- Skill Costs Decrease by 5%

- Increase relation between churches

- Magic attacks negation chance +10%

- Summon Divine Protector available

Jackpot! This was definitely worth the 25K gold I shelled out for this. Besides the fact that the first 4 options were amazing in some ways including the extra defence and negation bonus, the summoning option was by far the best thing that had happened to me.

You could even count the number of people who had such an item with one hand. That's how rare these summoning items were.

A window appeared in front of me explaining all the details in which the summoning worked.

Summoning Divine Protector Details

The summon Divine Protector is stored in the earring that belonged to the 6th Saint Alecaro and was designed to protect the saint while he casted spells. As such the summon itself is not designed for offensive purposes and instead is able to enact a powerful barrier to protect the master of the summon. This barrier is one of the rare absolute territory type barriers in which an other entities are blocked out of the surrounding space providing an absolute level of protection.

In order to summon the Divine Protector you must achieve the approval of the creature. This may be done by defeating it in combat where it will make a barrier in which you must breach. After this is done you will be able to summon the Divine Protector any time.

Hmm.....so in exchange for one of the most powerful barriers in the game I must first get through one of the most powerful barriers in the game...I have a feeling on why no one was able to use this earring properly.

“Hey....can a borrow some space?” I asked the shopkeeper.

The shopkeeper looked stunned and frantically said, “No no no, I won't let you blow up my store to for something like that! Go outside the city or something to make the contract!”

With that I was forcefully pushed out of the store with eyes on me. It seems the shopkeeper knew of the summoning contact with this thing and knows what would probably happen if I failed....

Oh well I might as well explore the rest of the city before testing this thing out. I placed the earrings in my inventory and went my way. However I felt the presence of people following me.

Sigh...

Really? You people are going to try and rob me like this in a city filled with battle scared people from a recent war? Geez....I might as well not cause another commotion in the middle of the street.  

I walked into an alleyway in order to confront them properly. I used Soul Scan to determine how many people wanted me dead and my earrings.

“There are 5 of you....no 7 with the two in the crowds waiting if you lot fail” I said without turning my back to them.

In one hand I casted Water bindings on the 7 at once.

“What the!”

“The hell?!”

Water gathered like solid and bind the 7 preventing them from moving. Then I casted Ice Prison which solidified the water that was binding them into Ice and spread it across their body which turned them into ice statues.

“Lightning Strike.”

I instantly casted 7 lightning strikes at the ice statues which broke them into pieces.

“Kyaaaaa! What was that?!”

“Those people just broke apart!”

“What is going on?!”

Oh....it seems it wasn't a wise idea to kill the two in the middle of the crowd. Well I can't turn back time. Might as well get away before someone finds out its me who caused this though I was defending myself from being mobbed.

Hmm...what's this?

I picked up a pamphlet which said a famous bard was going to sing in this city of the great battles that took place to achieve piece. I might as well go there since it seems like a good place to kill time.

Part 3 – The Misleading Songs

Standing in the giant hall where the bard would appear I was bored out of my mind. There were no seats as this wasn't a high class thing but rather everyone just stood where they were waiting for the bard to appear.

I'm been waiting here for a few hours now and I am a bit tired of this waiting business that I'm tempted to let loose here....

“Excuse me” said a man in a white cloak passed by me. The man stopped for a bit and moved next to me.

I have a feeling I've seen this person before.

“Its been a while” the man said.

Form his voice which I heard various times it was...

“It has been your majesty” I said humorously at the current situation, “Aren't you suppose to be waiting till the evening when you will be crowned ruler of this land?”

“That's in another few hours but until then I'm just a commoner.”

“A commoner who happened to soon to be crowned King as well as being the White General that united the Western Continent in a year.”

“You had a lot to do with that and if I know you well enough you probably had something to do with the beginning of the war as well as a reason to stop it later” the man scowled.

“Do you resent me?” I asked the man.

“A bit considering of what you done....I'm still surprised that you don't have a bounty on your head right now....but it also allowed new things to be born as well. This city and its people would have never come like this without you.”

I let out a smile since for once I did something good even though it came out of something that was beyond evil to do.

“The Bard is here, let's talk about stuff later”

In the middle of the stage appeared a beautiful bard that had long lustiest brown hair and a body that was attractive to both males and females. I see why she's popular plus I heard that she's a good singer as well.

The bard started the first song on the collapse of the Kingdom of Mortem.

To the North lied the brave archers that lived with Dragons

To the West lied the brave sailors that tamed the Seas

And to the East lied the brave warriors that befriended the Lions

Harmony of Gods come and goes as the Kingdoms of three balanced

But the tide fell when the Lions were slay to darkness

The Seas angered and the Dragon Roared

The Holy Trinity felled into two

Darkness bewitched the land of the east

As brave knights fought and fell

The legions of darkness marched throughout the lands

The brave Heroes one by one slain to be with the fallen Lion

Those who had live were met with countless deaths

As the lands of the East fell into darkness

But times change and so must we

From the North and West came the bearers of light

With great strength they pushed back the darkness

But without great sacrifice the Goddess of Light fought with the brave knights

She in which light gathered with her holy blade

The monster felled one by one shunned by the light

On the mist of victory the Goddess of Light led the brave knights to the end

Where the Demon of Darkness lied

With great power the Demon smiled in the blood of countless

The blood of innocent flowed in a river of hate

The brave knights fought and their light were vanquished by the Demon

The Goddess of Light fought with all her might

The Demon of Darkness pushed to the brink let out a cry of mercy

With a bountiful hear the Goddess Spared the Demon's life

Only be to slain by the corrupt heart of Darkness

And so the land of the East continued to be plagued by darkness

The Demon cried in delight as the light disappeared

But soon the light returned and the darkness retreated

Leaving the Demon without power and slain by the White Knight

The White Knight that the Goddess of Light gave her blessing

Throughout countless battles the White Knight fought to restore what was

However the ties of War continue to flow to endless ages

The first song finished and the crowd cheered. Hey....isn't this a retelling of events that happened 4 years ago....?

Also who the hell is a demon?! This song makes it seem like I was the one who intentionally caused that war! Plus it was the fault of the bloody other two Kingdoms that Mortem was turned into that state!

Plus I believe I wasn't even killed by the guy next to me that day!

“Hey....” I muttered to the so called White Knight next to me in disguise, “Were you the one who told them to write this manipulative piece of history?”

The man shook his head rapidly and said, “No no, I really don't have a connection to this. I was only serving as a Vic-commander that day in charge of making sure the injured made it back home. Commander Alexandra was the one who did most of the work” the man laughed at the end.

“Though is it true that you were there that day as the Demon?” the man asked.

I sighed and said, “I got a job from both the Kingdoms of Ruption and Seisin to take out the monster nest. It was all in self defence I had to kill those people.”

“...”

We waited for the next song which was about the end of the era of peace and the beginning of the era of war in the western continent.

The light of the East faded into darkness but the north and west glowed brighter

For it is the duty of the light to illuminate the path

But the light of the East continued to fade and soon did hope

The light of the West was taken into the raging the storm and disappeared

The light of the North disappeared when the raging Dragons awoke

And so the age of Light disappeared from the lands

And so the age of Darkness spread across the lands

The lone twin pillar of hope disappeared with the blade of darkness

Bone by one that held the hatred of darkness in their heart

The sinner spilled their hate in the pillars that were left

And so the Kings of old died in their sleep

Embraced by the light in their final moment before darkness spulled from the flames

For the Lion of light disappeared and the strength of light fell

For their Light were stolen and destroyed by the acts of Darkness

The Seas roared and the Skies cried in tears for their breathen disappeared.

The brave Lion that protected the land disappeared into the abyss

And soon the Seas and Skies fell to for the hand of darkness was powerful

Oh the Holy Trinity fell and darkness came to this fair land

Oh the Hopes that held the light were vanquished into darkness

For this was the final act of the Demon of Darkness

For this was the final curse that consumed the world

Broken and weak, the pieces of light and hope shattered across the land

Where many yearn for them with Greed

Many where the hopes of many were trampled on

Countless flags appeared and fell, all holding onto the small light

The countless lights crushed and trampled as the darkness spread letting go of nothing

For this was the age of darkness where the powerful held onto the light and hope

For this was the time when darkness and despair ruled the lands

The once land of Light and Hope disappeared into the abyss

Where the Holy Trinity drained of its power were tossed into darkness

The darkness that stalked the night to slay the day

The Kings of Hope fell to the hand of Darkness

The light faded from the minds of men and darkness came and chaos reign

And so the age of Light disappeared from the lands

And so the age of Darkness spread across the lands

This song wasn't as bad as the other one since it more accurately told of how the Kingdoms of Ruption and Seisin felled after their kings were assassinated. Plus it told of how all three religion orders died when their relics were destroyed as well.

Although the wording was damnably misleading to make it seem like things were really that great, it made people feel a bit sad about the events that lead up to it. Scratch that, there were people in the crows drying remembering what they have been through with.

“You didn't happen to be involved with the deaths of those Kings were you?” asked the man next to me.

“Well....” To be honest I was heavily involved in their downfall, “I wasn't the one who killed them and I wasn't the one who brought or told someone to kill them as well if that's what's your saying. Plus it was all accidental I I killed the leader the the Church of Lion group. I didn't know he was going to be there before I could actually not kill him.”

“...”

“Well the next song is coming up and this one is about both of us.”

The land filled with darkness, oh the pitiful land that had been abandoned by the powerful

The seas and stars cry at the land filled with darkness for there is no hope

But don't despair just yet as there is a single hope yet

The White Knight is to be appear, the White Knight that brings light to this lands

The light of the Goddess that have blessed him travel across the lands

For this is the tale of restoration of hope

For this is the tale of a Hero being forged in this world

Born at the East where darkness fell first, the White Knight gathered his comrades

Born at the East came the brotherhood of bonds

With his white sword, the darkness was slain one by one

With his white sword, the greedy and evil were slain one by one

The one who was blessed by the 3 goddesses that protect these lands

For this was a tale of a Hero rising above all other

In the lands that has been stripped of all hope

Found in the Darkness, the Goddess of Light arose once again to take arms

With her light, the misguided see their sins

With her light, the path is cleared for the White Knight

In a great breath of light, the Goddess dispelled all darkness from the hearts of men

Her sword glowing with justice slays all the evil in her path

For this is the Goddess that blessed the White Knight with light

For this is the tale of the rise of the White Knight

Found in the peaceful trees, the Goddess of Wisdom took arms to help

With her great powers, the lands themselves aided the weak

With her great powers, the White Knight was given power to slay evil

In one tap the tree bloom with life and destroy all evil

Her staff brewing life that restore the land to its once glory

For this is the Goddess that blessed the White Knight with Wisdom

Found in the blood stained battlefields, the Goddess of Power prayed for the end

With her magic, all attacks became null before her

With her magic, the White Knight was protected from all attacks

In one motion all life became silent before her

Her hands brimming with magic gracefully silenced the hearts of sinners

The final battle between light and darkness

Where the 3 Goddesses aided the White Knight to victory

The lands stained with the blood of sinners

Where all foes were vanquished from sight

The crowd was silent for a moment and then a great cheer erupted from everywhere you could see. Seeing that this was no place to talk, me and the man walked to somewhere we would not be disturbed.

When there was no one but us around, the man took off his cloak.

He was wearing instead of his white knight armour, plain common clothes that would mistaken him for a farmer.

“So....” the man started.

“I'm not a bloody Goddess for gods sake!” I complained.

The man laughed and said, “But you and the other two did aid me numerous times. You can't blame people to think that you were heaven sent beings that wished for my victory.”

“Hmp! The only reason why I aided you was that you were had the best personality out of everyone that took power. You don't know how many times I had to kill fat lazy nobles that brought power with their money which was squeezed out of other people's pockets.”

“True but you could've supported the other one in that battle. I believe he had a good reputation as a sincere person.”

“Sincere my ass! That man was a player like me so that means he definitely had an ulterior motive. He probably acted like that in order to gain power to squeeze every drop of money from everyone else.”

“...”

“Anyway I have a question I need to ask you.”

“What is it? I can loan you money if that's what you want or give you territory or land if you wish and even a title as long as you help protect these lands.”

“I don't need those things. I rather live small and have a peaceful life. Though things always turn up that prevent me from doing so....”

“Haha, it seems you had a harsh life.”

“Of course! How do you think I turned out like this? Anyway the question is quite simple. In a situation where your people are endangered, would you sacrifice yourself to protect them or sacrifice them to save yourself and possible more people in the future?”

“...”

The man thought about it for a while.

“I would....if it had to, sacrifice myself for my people. It is the duty of a King to protect his people no matter what. I am sure someone else will protect them like I did in the future as well.”

“Even if it takes decades for someone like that to appear?”

“Yes.”

“Even if it means you are condemning several times more people to their deaths.”

“I cannot simply leave those who need help right in front of me.”

“Hmm....you pass. Looks like I don't need to replace you after all.”

“Huh?”

“What? You really don't know why I helped you at times?”

“I thought you wanted peace in these lands.”

I laughed out loud. How can that be?

“I was the one who caused this war to begin and consume the Western Continent in the first place. It would no matter how many people that I don't know die because of me! I need a King, a King to kill and you are it!”

“What.....?” The man was now confused beyond anything he knew.

Part 4 – The Crowning

Right now I was with Alexandra ans Viv and was waiting for the White Knight of the people to be crowned so I can kill him.....it looks like a bit of my obsession with killing Kings is still left over but it will be over when this act is done.

“Do you Author Leghragon, swear that you will do in all your power to protect this Kingdom?”

“Yes.”

“Then I pronounce you the First King of the Kingdom of Dlbion!”

A new King has been crowned, kill him to complete the quest

Cheers erupted the crowds as I prepared to kill the man named Author after he was crowned. However something stopped me. I looked at my pocket where the mana detector was at. There was a resonance with a mana fragment somewhere nearby. Most like in the city....

BAAANG!!!

The city shook and an explosion appeared near the edge of the city.
