Part 1 – The Gathering of Nobles

I watched through a window at the lower levels of the castle of the various nobles of this area of the continent gathering to celebrate the coming of age of one of the daughters more influential noble families on the continent.

This would be a good place to kill a large number of nobles. However what way should I kill them? Make it look like an accident? Make it look like it was the works of another? Or just kill them straight front?

All these choices and yet so little time to decide. Well a gathering of this size, someone other than me will at least decide to silent a person or two during this gathering. I can take advantage of this and eliminate them all when they're panicked.

“Recruit, stop slacking off!”

I turned around to find the head maid in charge of preparation among other things shouting at me for not moving my hands to help the others.

“Geez, I thought Linda would give me a good worker for once...though the looks easily make things easier for us girls. The men are working twice no thrice as hard to impress you! However you still have to help us by working!”

The head maid who was in her thirties but had the looks of a twenty year old dropped some plates with food on them and pushed me to serve food to the various nobles at the dining area where the leaders of each large noble families were gathered to talk.

With 2 plates on my hands with a couple of other servants, I carried food to what seemed to be a lively place with old men that were talking about the future of this world.

“I heard there your daughter, Risene hasn't gotten an engagement to someone who can be considered a heir, Duke Lion.” said a noble who was wearing some sort of 'thing' that is considered to be poison to all fashion.

The room was finely lit with candles and to my surprise, something that looked like electric lights. Laced in fancy decorations, the entire room was styled in a noble setting with lots of gold and red colours on the walls. Several expensive items such as vases and paintings were also spread around the room as well.

In the middle of the room was a long table which around 30 people sitting on it. On one end of the long table, was the lord of this castle and the host of today's ball, Duke Lion who as also the leader of the Church of Lion otherwise known as the Master of Lion group.

On the other side of the table was the only other duke attending the ball with his family. I believe his name was Banest or something like that. He's according to what the maids that are serving with me, are on equal standings as Duke Lion from the Administrative side of this Kingdom while Duke Lion is on the Religious side of this Kingdom.

The rest of the nobles on the tables were the leaders of their families which are associated with the two dukes. They were lined up in order of importance to the two sides with the ones in the middle, the least important or associated with both sides.

“Unfortunately, my daughter Risene hasn't seemed to fancy anyone yet despite me introducing a large number of potential men to her” sighed Duke Lion.

Almost immediately, all the other nobles sighed at the same time, most likely due to the fact that they can't levitate their social status by marrying their heirs to the one called Risene.

If I weren't a girl in this body which would be very awkward for me to hit on the one called Risene.

[It would still be awkward even if you were a guy since you look like that]

Hey! I looked perfectly normal as a guy....

[Really, I can assure you that is not the case! Also why don't you just kill these people? I mean, its what you always do. Think about it while you serve these fat people food that you can only dream of]

“Maids, hurry up an serve the food!” ordered Duke Lion with a clap.

With those words, the other 14 maids that were with me all served the food that they were carrying to the nobles in this room. I quickly imitated them to blend in properly and also so I can sneak some food out later to eat....but first I want to eavesdrop on their conversations.

“Duke Lion, I hope that you will try not to interfere with the current state of the Kingdom as people need to learn how to take care of themselves” said Duke Banest with a smile on his face.

Duke Lion smiled back saying in a kind yet malice filled voice, “Of course Duke Banest, naturally I can leave the care of the Kingdom to your family who have watched and simply watched over generations.”

Is it me or the room just got colder by a couple of degrees all of a sudden. I should make a fire to warm everyone up while I'm at it.

I started gathering mana in my hands to create a bit of fire.

“We need someone to help Risene into the ball...you there, the maid with black hair and a very pretty face” Duke Lion suddenly pointed at me for some reason.

“?”

Who? Me?

“Yes you, go with the head maid to do whatever you women do for the ball.”

The anger levels inside of me boiled over and told me to gut this person right now! Time to cook these people alive with fire magic!

“Now now, let's go quickly now Eden!”

The head maid grabbed me and dragged me out of the room as quickly as possible. When we were clear of the nobles, she started lecturing me on my behaviour.

“Eden, what are you thinking?! Linda told me you were a mage of some sort and the mana that you were about to use according to this gadget was off the charts! Were you thinking to kill everyone in the room like a lunatic?!”

Actually yes I was.

“Eden, do not make enemies of these people. They are nobles! We are the common folk who live by their will! We have nothing to do with any sort of criminal activities!”

Well actually I have a very large bounty on my head and I intent to commit one of the worst crimes in history today as well.

“Plus you will be hunted down even if you merely crossed one of the nobles on that table till death by professional people will will track you for every moment and make your life miserable before killing you!”

Actually that happened before, except that they were the ones who died not me. I'm actually quite strong in the PvP area since people are a lot squishier than boss monster whom all seemed to have aspects such as high defence or health along with high attack power that don't allow me to have a easy time with them.

“Anyway, come this way. We need to help the lady of the day, Risene. My job is to dress her up since she's not a natural beauty like you who don't need to make-up to look good.”

The head maid suddenly started touching my face for some reason.

“My God, how is your skin so smooth? Also your hair is like silk!”

“...”

I don't like how this is going.

“Instead of me helping Risene, you should go help her. Definitely not because I'm trying to push my job to you. And definitely not because of any other disturbing reasons.”

“...”

I really don't like how this is going.

Part 2 – The Awkward Moments

“Come in maid” said a female voice that was actually quite pleasant to hear.

It was like birds were singing as she was speaking and the heavens themselves split apart to hear her voice. Or something like that if I had fallen for her charm magic. It only works for men.

How I know this was charm magic? There's a long line to kiss this woman's feet next to me.

“I beg you milady, let me in with you!”

There was a finely dressed beggar strapped into my leg preventing me from even opening forward.

“Wait a minute, don't I know you from somewhere?” the man on my leg stopped pulling and was thinking about something.

Oh crap....

“Are you sure handsome?” I said in my most sweet voice to the point that I was dying in the inside right now....

“Eh.....”

The man had a demented look on his face now...

“No idea! Let me serve you O Goddess that descended before me!”

Charm increased by 1

“...”

This game really likes toying with me, doesn't it. I started kicking the man venting out my anger and stress from this event.

“Oh~ Kick me more~”

“...”

Oh great....a masochist, I'm kicking a damn masochist! Is there some spell to reverse pleasure to extreme pain so I can enlighten this masochist?!

Several moments later....

“Oh the pain.....no.....”

The very same man who was in pleasure with my kicking him was on the ground in extreme pain not feeling the pleasure. Didn't really think there was such a spell to reverse pleasure with pain.

“Anyone who wants to end up like that one can follow me in” I said casually to the rest of the men that were in line outside this door. Naturally they didn't dare follow me after what I did to that man.

When I closed the door which was guarded with some sort of magic that prevented those who weren't invited to enter judging from the design and the fact that those men outside tried to at once point come in by grabbing onto me, I finally noticed who was Risene.

In front of me was a well dressed woman with silver hair and seemed to have a slim body that was as tall as me. To put in perspective, she had a similar body shape as me and was actually dressed properly and probably had a better personality than me as well.

“What took you so long, actually don't tell I already know. Men right?” said Risene in a sharp voice which was very surprising since she had a gentle look to her.

I simply nodded to her sudden question that she answered as well before saying the question.

I started examining her expression some more as she started bad chatting people that I didn't know as I combed her hair as gently as possible since my strength stat would probably allow me to rip her head off if I'm not careful enough.

I should actually make some conversation with her since I'll be according to what the head maid said, attending her every need for the day....until I'll kill her entire family and those associated with them of course which will totally look like an accident.

“So...I heard that no one caught your fancy yet. Your father is quite worried about the future”

“Really? That kind of thing has been said since I was 5 years of age. Those old farts don't understand what I truly want and why it is impossible.”

“Eh?”

I'm confused on where this is going.

“I'll show you then.”

With a swift movement, she placed her hand behind my head and stuck her tongue down by throat moving it about in my mouth. It wasn't one of those pleasant things but more of one of those shock things that stopped me thinking.

“Well, that's the reason no man ever appealed to me.”

“...”

Wow....didn't think that was the reason.

Risene grabbed a pile of paper with an image and words on them.

She waved it at me as she said, “Anyway, my father sent me another list on the potential suitors I will have to decide on whom to have an engagement with. I have to select at least 5 of them to give my father a general feeling that he knows something about me. Help me select those 5” Risene flicked through them quickly and commented, “ For some reason he sent me the nude paintings of these men...”

Oh boy...this is not a good day to be the maid of the daughter of a duke that needs to select a suitor from nude pictures....need to change things around no matter what.

“Isn't looking at those umm....nude paintings a bit boring for someone like you?”

This is definitely not going to go well for me....

“We can talk about something else other than whom you will have to an engagement with”

No no, let's not go to the other side of the fence too quickly. We need to stall for time till I can slaughter people and put this event behind me.

“Okay then, you're a freeman right? Tell me about you did before this.”

Okay...this is good....I can draw the conversation away from the fact that I need to help her find a proper suitor with nude paintings of those men and towards....stories about me killing people...great.

Might as well tell half lies again.

“Well....I'm a mage and for the last year I have been doing various stuff.”

“A mage, so you can make fireballs and those stuff right?”

Might as well give her a demonstration.

Fire Formation ? Ball Form ? Fireball

I placed my open palm I between the two of us and created a small fireball.

“That isn't that impressive is it” said Risene a bit disappointed.

I made the fireball disappear with the closing of my palm and said, “Well the more impressive magic would properly blow up part of this castle and I rather not pay the repair fees.”

Plus in actuality I found out my spells were stronger than most since they are supplied directly from me without restrain and they only look similar to normal ones because they are compressed which means they have a much higher explosion value.

“So you're a fire mage? I was taught that mages would often specialise in a single element to get the maximum power out of it. Or can you do something like summoning a creature to fight for you or fly in the air?”

Well she will be extremely disappointed when I say that I can't do those things but if I say I can then she'll demand that I to demonstrate in front of her which is a bad thing. I specialise in blowing things up into pieces.

“Not at all. But can do this.”

I created several balls in which an element resided in and made them float around the place without touching anything because they could explode and kill this little princess which would honestly hasten my plan up quite a bit.

“You're....an elemental mage then?”

“Eh?”

What's an elemental mage?

“A mage that can use multiple elements at once with great skill. I heard stories where mages like you are about to face mighty creatures like dragons with just your mastery of magic. You must be very strong aren't you....though it seems you have done some bad things with your powers which questions why you were about to get in here in the first place. Also I heard that Mages can make special clothing that looks normal on sight but feels like silk when you wear them, is this true? Also how rare are those potions that can change the colour of your hair and eyes? ”

My god.....do women talk so much? All Alexandra does is smash things into pieces which was pleasant compared to this torture. Also, Alexandra at least never mentioned anything about fashion in front of me.

“...”

“I see that you do not know much of these types of things....what was your name?”

“No, I mainly use magic for battles. My name is Eden by the way.”

Risene nodded and said, “Eden, got it. Tell me about a recent battle you had.”

Recent battle would be....the Gyarados....those were dark days....might as well past the time by telling that story.

“My most recent battle would be against a Gyarados then.”

Looks like a Gyarados isn't a common monster even in legends....must be because of that mana fragment that one particular fish mutated into a Magikarp and then a Gyarados.

“Giant blue shrimp fish twice the size of a wyvern...well in the end it was....also has a large mouth and has whiskers on the sides.”

Well that would be a general description of it though.

“So you slay this Gyarados?”

“Eventually, yes.”

Took me 10 rounds with me dying 9 times in a row though.

“Tell me the details of your fight!” demanded Risene who seemed to be interested in what happened.

This is going to take a while....isn't someone suppose to come and tell us that we have to go somewhere soon?

Someone help me from this hell!

Part 3 – Taking the Blame

“Introducing Lady Risene!” shouted out a man that looked and seemed like a butler that also doubled as an announcer for this event.

Right now I was serving along with a few others in the large hall of the castle that was partly outdoors as well as indoors. This was due to there being a large entrance that could allow a truck to drive through leading straight to the open gardens where there were also tables and people working there as well.

The indoors part of the hall was also quite big. In fact, I think its too big. The sheer height of it would be around enough for 3 floors and the size in diameter would be enough to fit 4 school gyms in there. Not to mention that most of the walls were covered in stained glass which images that were most likely came from the Church of Lion which the Duke is the leader of.

I wonder how much time and more importantly money this place took to build.

Wondering that, I heard several grasps around me which led me to look at where they were looking at which was at Risene.

“Incredible on the sheer beauty she process.”

“I heard that she still has not chosen someone to marry yet.”

“Isn't that the job of the Duke?”

“The Duke said that he wishes to allow her to choose on her own.”

Risene with her melancholy look on her face in a silver dress that had too many parts to it (which made it near impossible to dress Risene in without some help from the head maid), descended from the clearly and intentionally large stairs from the middle of the front of the hall that started somewhere on the second floor with three pathways. Two that went to the third floor to the left and right and one that goes directly does to the second floor straight ahead.

Did I mention that the stairs were made from pure marble and really high quality and expensive stuff that normal would never think to buy or use?

I wonder how much the architect got paid to make the stairs alone....

By the time Risene actually got to the ground level where everyone else including her father and the various nobles were, she was already surrounded.

Not only were there Knights around pampering her, even middle aged nobles were trying to win her fancy which to me was really really creepy.

“Honestly this kind of behaviour from men....”

I looked to my shoulder and found that the head maid was in distress because of the commotion in which numerous people were causing. I think I even saw both Dukes sigh at the same time as well.

“Well Eden, as Risene's temporary personal maid, you need to free her from all of this.”

“Should I burn them into a crisp?”

“No.”

“Freeze them?”

“No.”

“Electrocute them?”

“No.”

“Use any kind of magic against them?”

“No.”

That's strange....I thought those were the methods to get men off your back in these kinds of situations. What else could I do in these kinds of situations?

“Knock them out without harming them?”

“Yes.”

Damn. This is going to be annoying to deal with.

As I was walking to get Risene, I noticed that there were people looking at me as well.....with the same expressions they had with Risene. And for some reason they were surrounding me with a circle of men.....crap, now I'm trapped.

“Milady, can I help you with something?”

“Do you have a date for the dance?”

“Please be with me!”

Surrounded by 20 men and being thrown questions left and right. This can't get any worse....

Grope...

Did someone....just....grope my ass? Need....to.....kill....quickly....

“Battle Aura”

Battle Aura is now active

A golden outline appeared around me preventing anyone from touching me but also causing them pain when they tried. In mere seconds they all moved at least a metre away from me.

“Who was it.....”

I summoned the golden sword in hand ready to kill someone.

It was the look of a demon that shocked these men the most.

Then everyone backed away for another couple of metres. A mere glance at Risene direction into the crowd dispersed them as well.

“Eden what are you doing?!” said Risene in a panic.

I slowly slowed my pace intentionally to let her answer.

I calmly replied, “Getting you out of that crowd by the orders of the head maid.”

“Cough Cough”

There was some coughs behind me that was most certainly the head maid regretting her choice in using me to save Risene.

“Then why are you angry, armed and ready to kill? Can't you calm down?”

“I am calm!” I replied with a bit more emotion then I expected.

The whole hall fell silent for a few moments before Risene started to question me again.

“Eden what's with that golden aura and that sword at hand? I thought you were a mage.”

“I am a mage. But I can also use the old fashion way to kill people. It's just the head maid told me not to use magic in this situation.”

“Cough Cough Cough”

The head maid started coughing again at an alarming rate for some reason. Was she panicking or something or is this due to some unknown disease I don't know about.

“Then can you tell me what is angering you so much?” Risene actually had a sincere concern about me for that brief second, that is until I told her my answer.

“The reason is definitely not because someone in that crowd groped my ass” I looked back in the crowd and swore in my heart to kill every last one of them in the worst fashion I could.

“...”

There was another pause of silence in the room to my remark that seemed perfectly normal to me. Did I say something to offend these people?

“Anyway” Risene in a panic said quickly while stopping me, I lowered the power of my battle aura so she wouldn't get hurt when she grabbed my arm, “I have an announcement to make about my engagement!”

With those rooms, everyone immediately forgot about the fact that I was going to kill them using the excuse of someone groping my ass and focused on Risene entirely.

“So she has decided?”

“The next head of the family is to be named!”

“Hopefully it is someone I know...”

Whispers immediately filled the room to the point that they would not be considered whispers but quiet remarks and criticism towards Risene for postponing it until now.

Smiling at the words his daughter had said, Duke Lion approached Risene and said gently, “And who have you selected? I will fully support your decision. So who have you selected?”

This remark by the Duke caused another wave of whispers that drowned the room.

The Duke looked around the hall and said, “Come with me to discuss this in private....maid, come with us as well, may need some help with a couple of things. Head Maid, you'll come as well.”

Thinking for a bit, I deactivated my battle aura and de-materialised the golden sword at hand. This would be a good chance to see what was going on in the Church of Lion which could help Linda...though I have a bad feeling about all of this, as if I were to take some sort of blame very soon.

I nodded and followed the father and daughter along with the head maid whom was panicking more than before. Was this the first time this kind of thing happened? Honestly these kinds of situations are the ones that you find in stories and such....well this is a game so....

A few minutes of walking later, the four of us arrived at a large door. This door was made of stone and looked extremely heavy, however the Duke casually pushed it open like it wasn't there at all.

I looked through to the place that was on the other side of the door. It was a small room that was too small for the door that large.

“That is....impossible” said the head maid in confusion and admiration towards the Duke.

I looked closer at the door and it seemed to....waver? Was it possible for a door to waver? No it isn't, then this is...

“Illusion Magic? Along with something that makes you feel that the illusion is an actual door?”

“Correct. This place is the most secretive part of the castle. I payed a very large sum in order to have this kind of room. It holds some of the most prized processions of my family for generations.” explained the Duke while stepping into the room.

The Duke was followed by Risene who seemed more calm then she looks and the nervous looking head Maid.

However when I stepped into the room, I felt a slight shock on my skin for some reason....

Resisted Binding Magic

Restriction Spell....?

“One of the key features of this place is that any shady characters or otherwise people whom are deemed dangerous cannot come in here.....need to get this fix immediately. But one issue at a time” said the Duke speaking to himself aloud and at the same time explaining what I just felt.

That explains why there was a light shock on my body when I entered this room. Well, then the binding magic used on this room must have been quite weak.

“And it was one of the highest ranking protection spells you could get as well....”

“...”

Is there something wrong here or did a so called highest ranking spells just feel like nothing to me?

[Hmm.....I was intending not to interfere as much as possible from now on but.....]

Speak it llyfr! Is there something wrong with me?!

[I think this is the effects of the body transformation skill that should be active right now though slowed down. Right now, you are considered actively using that skill but it doesn't affect your body's appearance or state as well which means its inactive but still active in some senses. You can say that the recent battle which caused you to use Body Transformation furthered accelerated the transformation of your body into one that is ideal for battle. In other words, its temporary unless you want it to be]

Well....I don't really mind.....those extra effects could...will be useful.

[However your appearance will permanently changed into that hideous form]

Better finish this up before I head to that Dragon Temple so I can maintain a human appearance!

“Eden....EDEN! Are you paying attention at all?!” shouted the head maid into my ear.

I looked blankly at them and replied, “I was....umm....in the zone....yeah....”

“I have no idea what that means but pay attention from now on!”

With that the conversation moved onto the person that Risene had decided to be engaged to and eventually marry.

“So who is the person Risene?” asked the Duke once again.

With that question, Risene also glided to me and grabbed my arm not letting go me it even when I tried to push her away without harming her in the struggle.

“This one....*Blush*”

“...”

“...”

“...”

You got to be kidding me. It would be wonderful if I was a guy but right now I'm a girl. Plus my male avatar also looks like a girl so there is still a problem even if I was a guy in this situation.

“I am suspected yet tried to look away from the truth for so long.....oh my love in heaven what should I do with our daughter?” said the Duke whom was kinda unfocused right now.

What is this? Soap Opera?

“Anyway, I do have a way to resolve all of this. There is an old potion that changes gender that was used for political marriages in the past and I have one of the last ones in my hands. Eden, you will drink.....or should Risene drink it.....”

The Duke seemed undecided on which of us will take the potion....wait did he say gender changing potion?!

ME GET!

“I'll take it!” I immediately answered to the question the Duke did not ask.

“...”

The room was silent by my sudden, unexpected and suspicious enthusiasm to the idea that I have to be male. Honestly, it was blessing to get my original gender back and was truly the gift of the Gods for this to happen so unexpectedly.

“I see, just drink this then.” said the Duke handing over the potion.

However fate is too cruel. Far to cruel for my heart.

BOOOOOOOOM!!!

“What the?!”

The Duke in the process of handing over the potion dropped it and I could only watch as it broke into pieces and disappear.....

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!

OH GODS. WHY ARE YOU SO CRUEL?!!!!
