Vol.1 Chapter 10 - The Gluttony of the Giant Purple Rabbit

Part 1 – Alone with Goblins

Well I'm alone again in my travels. I'll probably won't see Patrick ever again in this wide world but no one really knows what's going to happen in the future. Anyway its been a hour since Patrick went somewhere to search for a town and I was kinda following the directions of the mana detector here. Well I should allocate my points now. I placed a 145 points in intelligence, 100 points in agility, 50 in concentration

Mana will replace Health

Skills will require half the experience to level up

My stats seems a bit unbalanced but I've been facing enemies that easily crushed my mana shields and because of that I have to be faster than them a by a bit. I really have no use for strength so I didn't put any points there. Intelligence was obvious since I am a mage character (note: can you put points into wisdom and vitality?) and putting 50 points into the fast growing concentration was fine for me as well. Sometimes I have a feeling that a spell might not work which was very troubling for me but ever since the concentration stat grew, this problem disappeared for most parts.

Anyway I'm 9 kilometres away from the target now....its been an hour since I started walking towards it and I'm pretty sure I didn't walk for more than a kilometre yet. That means its coming in my direction right now...which was kinda worrying. But on the other hand I can finally get out of this God damn forest.

“Good. Now I have to pass the time as I try to find it.”

I started wondering in the general direction of the creature again. Oh I have to find some food as well. I was running low on food ever since I ran out of rye bread and I I had to resort to getting wolf meat to fill up on my Satisfaction metre. Time to search for a wolf to kill. Or I could just try to find a rabbit to eat. Though there has been a lacking of them in this forest for some reason. Anyway there has also been a lacking of all kinds of creatures in this place.

Anyway after 10 minutes a searching, I found some wolves that I promptly killed to get their meat. And I noticed that the experience they gave me was non-existence now. Well I am level 84 now. Levelling beyond normal reasoning because of the Minotaur bullshit I went through. If you ask me, I didn't gain enough levels by facing that thing at level 40 something. It was literally hell even though I got some help from that weird voice mid-way. And my inner sadist emerged in the end as well. And I tortured the Minotaur to death......lets not go there. Anyway time to travel some more.

Some time later...

“Bring FOOD to HOME!” screamed a goblin near me though I was hidden away observing the situation.

Well I found something though I want to kill it. Along side this lone goblin were a couple of other ones that seem to be gathering food for some reason. Hell, I know the reason. The thing I'm trying to get to is eating everything in this forest.

“MOVE MOVE MOVE” screamed the very same goblin.

I have a feeling that this will end up like the time I followed a kobold to its home. But I wasn't that patient anymore. I got up from the brush I was hiding in and moved towards the goblin which prompted to alert its allies to my presence.

“HUMAN HUMAN!”

My god the words this thing spit out of its mouth annoy me beyond death.

“Lightning Bolt.”

I killed the little critter in front of me as the others ran to me trying to attack.

“Mana Shield. Earth Spikes”

The 5 goblins that were foolish enough to attack me were stopped by my mana shield.

Mana Shield took 72 damage

Mana Shield took 52 damage

Mana Shield took 93 damage

Mana Shield took 85 damage

Mana Shield took 44 damage

Goblins were around level 50. Normally they would do around the same or more than lizardmen but since my skill level for mana shield is beginner level 3, the amount of damage the shield takes a lot less damage than usual. Level 1 had 100 health, level 2 had 300 health and level 3 had 500 health per shield. Each time the skill levelled up the number of shells I'm able to produce increase by 1.

Several Earth spikes appeared next to me and pierced the 5 goblins. They all died in one hit each. I looked around and found that there was one goblin that was late to the party. Good I can use this one. An evil smile emerged from my face as I stared down the goblin whom was regretting coming to its allies' call.

The goblin tried to escape. I won't let it go.

“Ice prison.”

Ice started to form on the goblin's legs and it fell on its face as its legs were now frozen. Walking to it I tried to not look like I'm going to kill it just yet. The goblin was panicking even more so as I got closer trying to pound the ice off its legs. When I was no more than 1 metre away from it, the goblin started to try to crawl away from me using its arms to pull its body.

“Which way to your home?” I asked in my nicest voice ever.

The goblin on the other hand was shaking beyond hell. It couldn't even speak in front of me. This is going nowhere. I have to get some information out of it or I'm wasting my time here. But that was the reason why I was plying this game in the first place. Though I like to role play sometimes....Anyway how do I persuade this thing to give me the information from its tiny brain? Ask nicely, gain its trust or I could just threaten it. Goblins are not known to betray their allies.

“Lightning Bolt.”

I shot a lightning bolt next to it with a threatening glance.

“Where is your home. Your kind's lair. Where is it?”

The goblin started to try and point to a direction with its arms but it wasn't making sense.

“THAT WAY THAT WAY!”

The goblin was pointing to its left which wasn't very accurate. Maybe I should chain it. Yes, I should do that.

“Creation Magic: Iron Chains”

A sort of long chain was produced in my hands, there was a collar at the end which I attached to the goblin's neck. I undid my ice prison spell on it to allow it to move.

“HUMAN DIE!”

And it decided to attack me immediately.

“Ice spike.”

I made the ice spike appear in front of it instead of under it, making sure the chain wasn't hit. The goblin was once more shocked by my magic. It fell to its back as the ice spike disappeared.

I walked up to it again and said, “Take me to your lair.” in a commanding voice.

This time the goblin nodded its green head and started walking in the direction it was pointing at. Looks like it was telling the truth.

Some more annoying moments later....

We finally got to the lair which wasn't that far away. Anyway I should get rid of this thing next to me.

“Earth Spike.”

The goblin was killed and the chain broke. Meh. My skill with creation magic was still at beginner level 1. It doesn't matter if the chain broke. To me the skill was kinda useless since I can do most things using my other magic. The lair entrance was a hole in a giant rock. From what I see there were some goblins coming in and out a couple times a minute. I should get rid of them.

“Fire ball times 4.”

4 fireballs were produced and flew to 4 different goblins and burnt them to death.

“FIRE FIRE!”

The goblins started shouting and screaming again. Man I should learn some sound magic that blocks out the voices of these things.

“15 left.” I commented.

There were 5 at the entrance. 3 to the left of it and 7 to the right. I imagined the goblins being sucked into a ball shape.

“Wind vortex.”

The goblins were pulled by an invisible force which was a lot of wind blowing them to the centre of the vortex. They were screaming out loud but I wasn't listening to them. After 10 seconds the spell ended and the goblins were dropped on the ground still stunned by the spell.

Taking this chance I said, “Fire Field.”

From the bottom the goblins were being burnt to death by my fire but 3 of them managed to get out alive.

“Earth Spikes times 3”

3 earth spikes appeared and killed the remaining goblins. Okay now I should clear this place out as well. I walked in the entrance with the goblin corpses still burning next to me and was expecting for a message to appear indicating that I was the first to discover the dungeon first.....but it didn't appear.

So...someone else was here before? Likely but I haven't seen much of humans beside Patrick. And this forest is somewhere I don't know so it might be someone discovered this place but it not clear it out or cleared it and left never telling anyone about this place.

Either way, I don't gain the fame and double experience bonus and I will clear this place out. My skill proficiency in pretty much all my skills and such are skill in the beginner level even though I'm level 84 now. Damn that Minotaur...it gave me so much experience that I have to actually worry about skill proficiency.

“KILL HUMAN!”

A lowly goblin appeared in front of me.

“Mana Shield times 3”

It took out its low quality sword and started to hack at me.

Mana Shield Broke

“DIE”

Every time I casted a mana shield, my skill proficiency increased and every time one broke, it also increased the proficiency a bit. I allowed the goblin to destroy my mana shield a couple times before...well killing it.

“Lightning bolt.”

The goblin died. Anyway I let it break all of my shields and got 3% from it. So I get 1% of skill proficiency every time something destroys my mana shield. On the other hand I get 3% every time I cast it. One would think to cast the mana shield then dispel it and recast it but the problem is that you don't gain any skill proficiency form doing that for some reason. So I'm stuck with letting things destroy my mana shield every time or let the shield last for at least a hour which I experimented with before when no one was looking....

“Mana Shield Skill Window”

Mana Shield Beginner Level 3 (51%)

To create a shell to protect the user form all harm big and small. Also known as a borg in some places, magicians of the past often used this in battle to protect themselves from physical and magical attacks. Only one shell can be produced at a time but as the skill levels up the number of shells produced and the strength of each shell will increase.

Shield Health per use: 500

Number of Shields able to create at one time: 3

Mana Cost: 100

That one 'battle' increased the skill proficiency by 12% in total in case you can't add. Well time to clear this place out.

Part 2 – The Purple Rabbit

Well I got the skill to beginner level 5. Each shield had 900 health now and I was able to create 5 of them at once. Also the mana cost for each one was 80 now. So each time I level it up, the health of the shield increases by 200, the number I'm able to create is increased by 1 and the mana cost decrease by 5. A was a bit overpowered I say...but considering how I have bad luck in facing creatures stronger than me. Well enough about my skills, I'm facing a bigger problem....

“AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”

CRUNCH

Well the goblins are being wiped out right now by a giant rabbit...I kid you not, its actually a rabbit...I think. There were some slight differences such as the fact that its purple....I have no idea when or why its that colour. The second difference is that it is...well humanoid.

It looks like one of those old cartoons where the rabbit was mutated like in that movie with the curse of the wererabbit...and the final and most painful to me at least difference is that it eats other creatures. The rabbit known to not be carnivorous is eating other creatures and soon me. I of course am hiding right now, away form all of the danger but the mana detector in my hand is going haywire from the amount of mana coming from the rabbit monster.

“Looks like I have to face it.” I commented.

The rabbit's ears twitched. Don't tell me it heard me. It started looking around. Yep it did.....have to run now! I jumped out of the entrance of the goblin dungeon and started running as fast as I can. I'm glad that I put some points into agility. Now it would be better if I could fly or something.

TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP

Tapping? That's really loud tapping I hear...and there's a bloody giant humanoid purple rabbit chasing after meeeeeeeeeee!

“Mana Shield times 5”

5 layers of the mana shield was produced around me. I should be fine. Yeah. No. Its probably going to crush it easily. I imagined a wall appearing in front of it blocking its path.

“Earth Wall.”

A wall made of dirt appeared in front of it. Now to let it crash into it.

JUMP

Or it could just jump over it. Its a rabbit dur! I continued to run away from it, dodging the trees and such. Now I think about it, I haven't been using water magic a lot. Maybe it could be useful...but I can't think of any spells that involve water besides ice! And I can't use water magic without a large quantity of water as well. Damnit!

“Lightning Bolt!”

This is probably the most used spell so far but its handy but kinda useless since its weak in power. The rabbit brushed aside the lightning bolt using its arm and continued to chase after me like nothing happened. And it was catching up quickly! Damn my agility is still no high enough to escape from these overly powered monsters I've been facing recently!

Stamina has increased by 1

Now is not the time game, I'm being chased by a freaking GIANT RABBIT HERE!

LEAP

Crap its attacking now! I tried to dodge it but it still lands on me.

Mana Shield took 1351 damage

Mana Shield broke

And the first layer of my mana shield with it. I tried to make another one but the rabbit that was on me right now hit me using its paw.

Mana Shield took 4213 damage

Mana Shield broke

Crap that's a lot of damage in one hit! What level is this guy now! God damnit! This is all Crysero's fault. Eh its not doing anything to me right now. I was facing the ground right now so its hard to tell what's its doing but I think its observing its meal.....well me right now. I turned my head around to see the rabbit was drooling! Gross! It hit my Mana Shield again.

Mana Shield took 3124 damage

Mana Shield broke

And again.

Mana Shield took 3314 damage

Mana Shield broke

And again.

Mana Shield took 2416 damage

Mana Shield broke

There goes my defence. I'm going to get killed at this rate or eaten alive...you'll never know, so I have to risk it right now. I imagined the ground under me, yes under me being on fire....

“Fire Field” I said with the last of my strength.

[REPLACE Burning Sound] (Need a link to a website that have these sounds...)

You took 813 damage

You are on fire

You will take 3 damage per second

I'm down to 2102 mana now and thankfully the burning snake seal undid itself right now though I still don't really know the conditions this thing undo itself. Through the mana absorption skill I was gaining around 4 mana per second right now which barely offsets the burning damage I am taking right now.

“Gaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”

The rabbit on me was screaming in pain. Good, now get off me. The rabbit leaped off me whom was still on fire trying to put out the fire on it was well. Oh! I though of a good water spell I can use just now. I imagined my body being covered in a protective layer of water.

“Water Veil”

My body was covered in a thin layer of water which also put out the fire which costed 20 mana. I got up from the ground and faced the rabbit which was still drooling! Something is definitely wrong with it. I wonder if its because of the power of the mana fragment.

The rabbit in the time I made the water veil managed to put fire on its body out by rolling on the ground. I guess it used dirt to put it out.

“Mana Shield times 5”

I reset my defences even though it was pretty useless against the rabbit before. Man if I get hit or caught by it once, I'm dead meat. I have to go on the offensive. I imagined a pillar of fire going to the rabbit.

“Fire Pillar.”

A flame pillar appeared in the fire field I created and headed to the rabbit.

JUMP

And it dodges it. Yep, I just wasted mana here. Wait, what if I increase the size of the fire pillar? I imagined a tornado appearing consuming the fire pillar and becoming a fire tornado.

“Tornado”

A tornado appeared which was a bit bigger than the fire pillar I sent out. It moved into the fire pillar and became bright red. Well its a fire tornado. Its fire being blown around but I can control it which is good very good. I moved the fire tornado to home into rabbit. It was jumping around pretty well despite the fact that it was full bluffed up from the mana fragment. Well I guess it also increased its agility as well. Now to take the offensive.

“Lightning Bolt.”

“Earth Spike.”

It had no effect on the rabbit. Ice and water don't go well with fire so I'll just use the other elements. I was also acting a bit cautious since I barely have over 2500 mana now.

“Light balls”

I created the balls of light and moved them to the rabbit whom was still running from the fire tornado.

“Explode”

The balls of light exploded in the rabbit's face and stunned it for a bit. That was enough for my fire tornado to home in and consume the rabbit in fire. Man that spell cost way to much....I believe its 150 for the fire pillar and another 100 to summon the small tornado with 5 mana per second to maintain it for a while.

FUUUUSH

The rabbit pushed aside my fire tornado like it was nothing. SHIT! What kind of beast is this?!

“Earth Spikes times 5”

I tried to produce some Earth spikes under the rabbit but...

SMASH

It stopped the attack before it could even begin by smashing it.

JUMP

Shit! Its going to land on me again! No choice.

“Ice Field! Ice Tower!”

The ground that was on fire turned into ice immediately and a giant tower of ice appeared to hit the rabbit right in the chest. Yes! It seen effective....no It just did a back flip and dropped on the ground unaffected. In that case...I imagined the ice trapping the rabbit.

“Ice Prison”

This spell takes a lot mana but it is powerful. Ice started to climb onto the rabbit from the ground and the remainder of the ice tower. It couldn't move now. I smiled at this and started to add more ice on it.

“Ice Bolt. Ice Bolt. Ice Bolt.”

I fired 3 ice bolts to the rabbit which hit it twice on its body and one on its right arm. The frozen effect was very apparent as there was small amounts of ice appearing on its body.

“GGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR”

Eh?

SMASH

Mana Shield took 5416 damage

Mana Shield broke

Mana Shield took 4213 damage

Mana Shield broke

Mana Shield took 6041 damage

Mana Shield broke

Mana Shield took 4135 damage

Mana Shield broke

Mana Shield took 7532 damage

Mana Shield broke

Shit! That thing just hit me and what the fuck?! It was trapped in my ice prison a second ago and it just broke through and smashed through my shields in one go. I need to set up my defence again.

“Mana S-Guah”

You took 1532 damage

It uppercut me. I coughed up some blood in the air. Crap, I can't move. I dropped back on the ground unable to move. The rabbit picks me up using its paws and....

CRUNCH

You took 3214 damage

And there goes the rest of my mana. Well time to be kicked out of the game.

CRUNCH

Ow! I'm dead already?! Why won't I get kicked out? Blood started draining form my body. My flesh and bones were being torn apart. The pain caused me to faint and awaken again to the pain. Then a message appeared.

5 Element Seal has been released. You will gain the following:

- Mana Limit has been removed

- All skills will increase by 2 rank in this state

- Seal on llyfr has been undone

Power flowed through my body. My eyes and the markings on my body burnt a golden colour for some reason. My mana instantly went to 100000 and it felt like I could anything right now. The force coming out of my body forced the rabbit's mouth open and my body dropped out. The rabbit, shocked by the surge of power leaped a couple metres away form me.

“Fire Pillar”

A gigantic pillar of fire was produced under the rabbit. Seriously it was at least 10 metres in diameter compared to my usual 1 metre diameter ones. The rabbit was pitch black from the spell but it was still alive. Man it must have a lot health for it to survive.

“Ice Tower”

Once more a gigantic version of my usual spells happened. It was 10 times bigger and probably 10 times stronger than my usual spells. The rabbit was hit up high in the air and blood was coming out of its body. The ice tower disappeared and the rabbit fell to the ground.

“Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”

Damn it was still alive. Why was it alive?

[…...........................Extract.................................................]

Extract? The voice again. What do you mean extract? Suddenly my arm moved by itself. A sword was created in my hand and flew out to pierce the body of the rabbit that was definitely kept alive by the mana fragment. The sword was of a golden colour with some sort of writing engraved into it. It was around a metre long and the hand guard which was also gold in colour was 20 cm in width.

Blood poured out the sword wound. The rabbit fell face first to the ground, burnt black from my fire pillar and deformed from my ice tower.

You have levelled up

You have levelled up

You have levelled up

Ah so the rabbit is dead now and I levelled up 3 times! Yes! This new power is awesome! Then I noticed something coming from the dead rabbit's body. It was some sort of light....hmm? It was coming to me. The light went into my chest for some reason. I wonder if that light was the mana fragment. Anyway how do I report this to Warlic.

Cough

Eh? What's happening. My body is getting heavy.

You have died

Wait.....how did I die?

Part 3 – The Shining Crusader

I knelt down on my knees in front of a couple of old men I know. They and I were of the churches that follow the will of the Gods. While they each were of different factions each following different Gods, I was not restricted by this. I alone am commanded by all the Gods and none of them at the same time.

“Stand Alexandra, you have done well.” said the one directly in front of me.

I'll love to stand up but there's this stupid tradition that I have to be humble in front of the high ranking leaders of the churches. Of course there wasn't any of the Popes here, they were despite my class too busy to come and they would attract too much attention. Anyway I stood up and found that many of the men had tears in their eyes.

“Umm...why are you guys crying?” I asked blatantly.

The 7 old men were all shocked at my comment. The one to the right immediately said to me, “Alexandra must you not be so...unladylike?”

The others nodded in agreement. Damn you old senile FOOLS!

“SWORD WAVE!”

I shot out a wave and destroyed the wall to the right. The old men were shocked at first but then sighed. They were shacking their heads.

“Must we give this title to her?” said one of them.

Another replied to this very rude comment. “She did finish the trials flawlessly and this never happened in 4 centuries. We must give it to her.”

“But she's so....violent.”

I brushed my blond hair in frustration and said, “Just give me the title already. Before I beat all of you up.” I lifted my fist up indicating that my patient has run out.

The old men sighed again and started to chant some words to their Gods.

“In the name of the Holy, Divine, Everlasting Gods we serve......we give you Alexandra.....the title of......shining....man I really don't want to say the last word for some reason.”

“Just finish it! Before she kills us.” They started arguing a bit but ended up finishing it anyway.

“Fine....the title of Shining Crusader.”

When they finally finished their stupid ritual of some sorts I got a message.

Obtained the title 'Shining Crusader'

You are now friendly with all church denominations that are not evil

All skills will be boosted by 1 level

Unable to earn the murderer mark. Instead Fame will decrease rapidly.

Oh! These effects are awesome! Now I can do anything I want. But before that I put on my best mature beauty face and said to the old men, “Thank you for granting me this privilege.”

“No no. The privilege is ours. And you have to fix your temper.”

I grinned brightly which stunned the old men and said, “No way~” before going out of the church to my next adventure.

Author's Notes:

- Word Count 4781

- Patrick was originally suppose to get eaten in this chapter. But I spared him his crude fate and had to use someone else....

- Rabbits are fun aren't they.....especially the ones that have grown up to eat you

- Chapter 10.5 will be out soon

- Remember next chapter is next week

- This chapter includes preview into the next volume....

- Well I changed the title since I rather not have the last word cut off and 'wraith' doesn't really fit with what I had in mind with the rabbit. Gluttony seems better.
