Extra Chapter - April Fools Day

Part 1- The Joke

BANG

Something or more likely someone by the name of Alexandra hit me in the head.....hard.

“Ouch!”

As I rubbed my not sore head looking at the person who did this to me, I noticed that she looked....panicked. Before I could question her she grabbed me by the hand and dragged me out of the room in the inn we were staying at for a while.

Seeing that something bad may have happened and she would more likely use me as bait to draw off the misfortune, I stopped both of us in our tracks.

“Where are we going and more importantly, WHY THE HELL DID YOU HIT ME?!!!” I demanded from this beast of a person.

Not even looking at me she replied quickly, “No time to answer!”

She tried to pull me.....and I did slide on the ground standing for a couple of metres leaving a great big mark on the stone ground.....I do wonder sometimes that we may be too strong....

(REPLACE flashback on countless enemies that could destroy a town single-handedly)

Nah.....I think I'm fine being too strong.

At this point, Alexandra picked me from my feet and started carrying me since I was refusing to run or even walk with her. From the pace she was going, I soon realised that she was out of breath which rarely happened unless in a very long and dangerous battle with a boss levelled monster.

“So what happened. Depending, I may actually take us there faster than you carrying me on your shoulder.”

“Viv.....he's in danger.”

“Wait....THAT Viv is in danger?”

“Yes.”

“That Viv who can easily stop both of us from killing each other?!”

“Yes.”

“Isn't he with a large party taking on a boss monster in some lair right now.”

“Yes.”

“What the hell could be in there that could prose a threat to Viv?”

“Dragon.”

“...”

You got to be kidding. I thought dragons were suppose to be rare and really really rare since they are a game-breaking boss monster that even I can't face one on one right now. On average, an adult dragon with no particular characteristics would be base level 400. If you add in characteristics and even ranks to that then it can increase to level 600 or more. I heard rumours that a Dragon King is the equivalent to a level 800 boss monster while the Dragon God cannot be measured in levels.

Of course those are rumours but even the weakest of Dragons would have an extreme amount of magic resistance. That's really bad for me. I wish I got some sort of dragon-slaying sword somewhere before....

“Let me down” I demanded to Alexandra.

“Why? So you can run away?”

“When have I ever ran away?”

I clearly remember facing near impossible foes before.

“All the time when you can. Except that most of the time you couldn't run away when you wanted to.”

She has a point. Wait, I'm getting side tracked here.

“I'll cast flight on both of us so we can fly there. You have to lead since I have not idea where this place is and even if I do, I'm more likely to go the opposite direction.”

With those words, Alexandra placed me back on the ground and I casted the Flight spell on both of us.

Appearing on the back of Alexandra were wings of light while I had wings that were golden in colour like by battle aura. I think the difference is due to the skill making wings that are nearest to the affinity of the person.

“Now....don't try to burst at full speed else you may crash and die....literally.”

Alexandra took a moment to consider all of that and said, “Got it” before bursting into the sky at full speed.

“That....never mind”

I quickly used the same speed and caught up to Alexandra who seemed to be enjoying the flying experience.

Well this wasn't really true flying with the wings. The wings are decoration and the manifestation of the spell. Its highly complicated and what I can explain is that the flight spell I have uses a combination of gravity and wing magic at the same time.

10 minutes later what I saw was truly unfortunate to everyone in range.....

“ROOOOOOOAR”

There was an actual dragon there. Breathing, walking and killing.

Coloured in Red....which means it has high offensive capabilities, it breathed large amount of fire everywhere killing several players at once.

Seeing that I needed to conserve some mana right now I made both me and Alexandra head to the ground quickly before the dragon sees us and decides on an aerial battle.

“Where's Viv?” I asked scanning the battlefield that was quenched in fire.

Alexandra drew her sword and covered herself and me in buffs of all kinds and pointed straight ahead where fire is being blocked.

Viv was using various golems to block the flames and nature based spells to cover the other players as they flee.

I quickly ran up to him and asked, “Why is a red dragon here?”

Viv didn't even look startled as he responded with, “ Unlikely Dragon Lair, also can you use some water spells or something to help out?”

Water Formation ? Water Sphere ? Multicast(10)

“Water Spheres!”

I created 10 large spheres of floating water around me.

Viv looked at me and said in a slightly dissatisfied voice, “Something stronger than that would help!”

I smiled and moved the water spheres around where the large dragon was and prepared my next spell.

Ice Formation ? Chain Form ? Ice Chains

“Ice Chains”

I poured a large amount of mana in the water spheres and converted them from water spheres and into ice chains that wrapped around the dragon.

“GOOOAR!”

The Dragon went into a frenzy as my ice chains trapped it.

“Won't it break out easily since its made of ice?” Viv asked.

At this point, several people including Alexandra took this chance to attack the dragon, making sure not to hit anywhere near the chains since it was their lifelines.

“Nah, Dragon may have high magic resistance but that's only for direct magic. Trapping it like this will force it to use physical power to break out. The ice will stay as long as I pour mana into it.” I explain casually.

I looked at the dragon and it was surprisingly getting its ass beaten by the players right now, though a couple of them are still being crushed and eaten from time to time.

Some time passed and when the red dragon was on its last breath, it roared, hard.

“ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!!!!!!!!!”

I plugged my ears and it was still loud. A couple of players fainted from the noise itself. A couple of seconds passed and the roar was echoed....several times.

“What...was that...?” asked someone near me.

Tremors erupted around us and even the air shook.

“You got to be kidding....”

Around us were.....Dragons.....hundreds of them.

“This is impossible”

Yeah, it is impossible for so many to appear at the same time at once. Where were they hiding.

I prepared myself the inevitable death that was going to occur. I have no choice but to go full force....and that may not be even enough to take a Dragon down.

“Shit! They're using Dragon Breath!”

This is bad, really bad. Hundreds of dragons were gathering an insane amount of mana in their mouths and were about to repaint the land in it.

Neutral Formation ? Mana Shield ? Multicast (20)

“Mana Shield!”

I dragged Alexandra back with me and Viv and casted a small collection of mana shields around us. Then I started to dig using some Earth Magic.

“What are you doing?” demanded Alexandra brushing off the dirt on her armour.

“Making sure we won't die.”

Oh damn, those are some fins last words I have there.

“IT'S COMING!!!!”

The sky and land flashed in all colours as we were.....killed?

“Eh?”

Something was wrong. I used earth magic to quickly get back on the surface. There, all the players disappeared....well most of them. I looked at the cave entrance and found a couple of mages there.

All of them has an amused look on them.

“Illusion magic?” I asked figuring out what happened.

“Yep”

It was Alexandra who replied. So she was in this damn plan!

“Well it was to get you from being lazy for a while” said Viv.

“Check what day it is.” said Alexandra.

I opened a window that said the day it was.

1st of April.

“...”

I was completely speechless. This whole thing was an April fools day joke?

“You two.....”

““Yes?””

“Don't think I'll help you guys if a hundred dragons were to attack us later.”

The two and the mages that heard me all looked at each other and burst into laughter at once.

“I doubt that could happen.”

“Are you that stingy???”

Alexandra patted my shoulder and said, “There's a party in the dungeon that was cleared out a while back. A large number of chefs are cooking food there.”

Well I might as well enjoy the rest of the day then.

However I won't forget what happened today and what I said on this very day.

Part 2 – The Reality

Several Years later.....

BANG

Alexandra smashed opened my door to my room in a deep rage against the use of doors. Or something like that, I don't know what this person is thinking half the time.

“EDEN!”

I placed down the paperwork I was correcting and looked at her calmly and said, “Yes?”

“DRAGONS!”

What is with this woman and not giving context?

“ROOOOOOOAR!!!”

There was some loud noise that I could've sworn belonged to a couple of dragons at once. I've been hearing this for the last hour or so? Did something mess up with sound magic to cause this noise in the city?

“Eden what the hell are you doing to not help out?! There are hundreds of dragons out there and are razing most of the western continent right now!' she shouted at me.

I looked at the date, April 1st. Its that time of the year again isn't it.

“Why are you not moving?! The whole continent is in danger.”

“I don't want to.”

I placed my legs on my desk relaxing as much as I could in front of her.

“What?”

Alexandra stared at me in disbelief and in anger.

“Why?” she muttered.

To that I smiled.

“Remember the time when you and Viv with a couple of illusionist mages played a big trick on me with dragons?”

“Yeah....”

“Remember what I said back then?”

“...”

Alexandra's mouth opened a bit wider thinking.

“You still have a grudge over that?”

I smiled as I said, “Yep.”

“ROOOOOOOOOOAR!!!”

BANG

“...”

I looked to find most of my house destroyed. The only part that miraculously survived was the room I and Alexandra was in right now. All the work...all the paperwork I did for the last month was....gone....in flames and destruction.

“Did that dragon just....?” I asked.

Alexandra nodded trying not to laugh as much as possible at the irony.

“Alexandra....”

“Yes?”

She smiled at my face knowing what I will do next.

“I feel like dragon hunting all of a sudden.”
