Vol.5 Chapter 3 - Light and Shadow_The Unfortunate Fool

Part 1 – To become an Overload

“Now let's begin the first true meeting between the Guild of Shadow and Guild of Light in over a century.”

With those words I could not help but to stiffen a bit since it sound important. However everyone else did not speak at all.

“...”

So....no one wants to talk....?

It was the old man in white that spoke first. Well there are two people in this room that fit this description which can make things confusing.

“Why don't we all introduce ourselves. It seems knowing each other to a certain extent is the first thing we need to do.”

The five members of the guild of shadows all shrugged at once.

It looks like these people don't like to socialise much.

“Although I believe some of us here don't have names......well we often use nicknames either way to ensure secrecy.”

“In that case we have Thinny over there.”

The tall thin man or Thinny as I will now refer him as glared at the large man whom was several times bigger than him.

“Speak for yourself boulder head.” Thinny said before looking away in annoyance.

“Ah~ You two do get alone.” said the young child in white.

Hey hey, I think those two have a mutual hatred for each other! You can see it in their eyes.

“Besides that I want to know how little Catle is doing~ I want to dress you up again~” said the young beautiful woman.

I suddenly had a sudden chill.

“I am not called Catle! That's a kid's name!” the short child in black screamed in disbelief.

And it seems those two have a love hate story as well. I wonder why this seems very familiar....though some things seems different.

Then the whole room burst into chaos.

“Are you still bad with milk?”

“What the hell does that mean?!”

“You want to fight?!”

“Huh?!”

Suddenly the people from the guild of shadow and guild of light went into groups and were about to attack each other. The only ones who weren't involved were me, the bulky one from my side and the young handsome one and young child from the other side. Even the one who originally suggested us to all talk was about to whack someone in the head.

Seriously they look like kids in a class fooling around. Do these people really rule over the continent in secret?

I literally face palmed myself seeing this.

“TAKE THIS!”

Was there.......there seems to be a blade stuck in my head. Oh this feeling....pain...annoyance and anger. Lots and lots of anger.

“Who was it?”

As my words almost drowned the place with fear, a golden aura also slipped out of my body.

Battle Aura is now active

I scanned the silent room for the answer. I could almost sense the fear in the air as I pulled out the blade from my head. I am surprised that I'm not dead yet but what the hell, I am more pissed at the person who managed to plunged the blade into my head.

“Which one did this?” I said while holding the blade that was in my head a moment ago. I looked around and no one seemed to be able to say anything.

First and Second Seal release!

Releasing the First Seal gives the following benefits:

- Spell Damage Increases by 100%

- Spell Range Increase by 60%

- Mana Absorption is Activated

- Strength is Increased by 20%

- Agility in Increased by 40%

- Movement Speed Increases by 15%

- Defence Increases by 20%

- Resistance to Magic Increases by 15%

- Fighting Spirit is increased by 20%

Time Limit: 3 Hours

Releasing the Second Seal gives the following benefits:

- Mana Increases by 10000

- Gives Rapid Natural Mana Regeneration of 100 mana/second

- All Skills rank up by 1

- Spell Damage Increases by 150%

- Spell Range Increase by 80%

- Strength is Increased by 40%

- Agility is Increased by 80%

- Movement Speed Increases by 30%

- Defence Increases by 40%

- Resistance to Magic Increases by 30%

- Fighting Spirit is increased by 40%

Time Limit: 30 Minutes

With strength in my body again I muttered 'sword' under my breath and 24 golden swords appeared above me circling around and then suddenly pointed at everyone else.

24 Golden Swords has been created

Naturally each of them were aimed at the possible suspects. Everyone except the bulky guy in the guild of shadow and the child and handsome man from the guild of light were targeted since it wasn't possible for them to be the suspect.

“Hey...don't you have a skill negating power” asked someone.

“Yeah....but I don't think I'll be able to stop that. Plus it seems she's draining my mana as well at an alarming rate” muttered another person.

“Damn why do we have to face this kind of person when they're angry?” mutter another person.

“...”

The child from the guild of light sighed and said, “Negate.”

WARNING: Skills are being sealed

Suddenly it felt like the weight around me increased by two folds. The golden swords slowly faded away partly leaving me a bit tired. But that was not all I had.

“Reform!” I shouted recreating the swords that just half disappeared before my eyes.

The swords then suddenly started becoming whole again as I struggled to stop them from disappearing. Naturally doing this took extra mana from me to just sustain them at this point but I didn't care.

Seeing that this was the chance to stop me, those from the Guild of Light decided to gang up on me which wasn't very nice of them.

““““Negate!””””

Then all of my swords actually disappeared this time leaving me quite tired due to mental fatigue.

“Damn....what the hell was that?” I muttered. Even my battle aura faded away as well. Without much power left I was forced to power down for now.

First and Second Seal is now Active

“Its a special skill exclusive to the Guild of Light which seals off any skills. However it is very rare of all of us to use this skill at once for one attack. Usually we use it to seal off dangerous people but it only seemed to affect your skills for a while and nothing else” explained the child in white with a concern face.

They can seal off skills.......just great. I always had a bad time when it came to sealing things....and all of them were directed to me as well!

However this give me a great chance to be powerful and yet not completely disable any and all team-mates I may have.

“They can you seal off my Mana Absorption skill?” I requested with hope.

How many times had I have to fight completely sealed with Alexandra and Viv since me taking their mana from them prevents them from fighting at full power. It's also honestly boring to fight with restrains on since they don't even give me any benefits as well.

However they all shook their heads at my request.

“That's impossible.”

“The power of the skill is too high.”

“And it drains our mana while we try to seal it.”

“What a frightening skill to have.”

They all nodded in agreement that there was nothing they could do.

The child in white smiled in apology saying, “There you have it. Its impossible for us to seal it off. But....isn't it sealed right now? Those faint tattoos aren't for fashion I presume....can you let us examine you for a while?”

“I refuse” I said automatically.

I know enough that this may lead me to a bad end later on thinking back to what Alexandra did to me when she used that was an excuse to dress me up again.

One of the old men sighed and said, “That's too bad. From what I see, you have at least 2 no 3 layers of seals on you and one of them is of the forbidden level.”

“Forbidden level?”

“Seals have ranks as well. The forbidden level is something that is not used often not only by the fact that it is...morally wrong but also because it requires an extreme level of skill and power in sealing. On average you would need at least the power and skills of an Arch-mage or Pope....or Divine Saint...”

So the second or third seal was on the forbidden level of seals since I believe the first seal was pretty weak.....that doesn't sound nice to me.

“Is...there a level above the forbidden level?” I asked.

“No....well technically no, but such seals are hard to pull off even for Gods themselves. I would run away if I met such a person with that level of seal.”

Well you could have such a person in front of you not that I would tell you that. The chances of him trying to dissect me increases if I said such a thing.

“Anyway...what were we doing again?” I smiled and looked at everyone like nothing was wrong.

The atmosphere in the room dropped by that point.

Part 2 – Succession to a Legend

“According to what the convention says, you are to be the next leader of the guild of Shadow. Any rejection will be resolved with combat or when one dies.” said the child in white.

I looked at Thinny when he said those words. It seems that everyone here but him has a good opinion on me becoming leader.

“Hey Thinny” said the bulky man in white, “You sure you don't want to take this chance? You are the substitute leader, plus don't you have a grudge on this one?”

Thinny shrugs it off and said, “He's powerful enough. What we need in a leader is fear so no one can oppose us. She fits that description perfectly even for us even though she's not the type to follow the rules.”

“Is there no other objections?” asked the child in white.

““““Nope””””

“In that case you will become leader when you find the final gem which is missing from that key....or was it a dagger?”

I looked at Thinny and asked, “Any idea where the last one is?”

“Most likely in a dungeon. They often end up there for some odd reason. Besides that we first need to restore control over underground guilds. They are, since the last century been running wild and Kings and Kingdoms are taking advantage of that.”

“So....you want me to take control of them?”

“No. I want you to cut off the heads that leads them. Namely the Nobles that are connected to them right now. I'll give you a list later. The main three guilds that now control this land are all back by the three churches that control the heads of the Kingdom. Namely the Guilds are just a diversion for the true rulers, the churches who are each led by a high ranking noble.”

Okay then....I have to kill a couple of nobles.....not that I care for politics...

“Anything else?”

“Well there is the vault for our guild.”

“...”

WHAT?! TREASURE!

“What?”

Thinny looked at me strangely.

“Nothing, take me there.”

Everything took me to what looked like a giant gate. It was a giant gate, like the door to a bank vault you see in games. You know the large circular ones? It looks just like that. Expect that it was made of stone and was old and mossy.

“....Why is it closed?”

“In here is only for the eyes of the guild leader. Though its mostly just armour and some details on our clients in the past. The Guild of Light has their own vault as well.”

I looked at their vault which was strangely here as well and then back to them.

“Is that vault more....clean?” I asked with great concern though no offence to the guild of shadow.

“Nope.”

“Not at all.”

“Impossible to clean.”

I looked at the vault again and there was a hole at the centre of it. Out of all the places which were unclean, for some reason was perfectly clean and shiny like someone was cleaning it frequently. I wonder if some of these guys has something to do with it.

“Is there anything else before I'll go kill some people?” I asked again.

“...”

Everyone in the room except me turned and gathered in a group without me.

“Are you sure this is the right choice? He doesn't hesitate in killing people with power” whispered someone in a low voice.

“Shut it! It has been a century since someone could take this role. Plus she needs to finish that after this.” whispered another person behind my back.

What thing after this? Don't tell me that I have to do something after the killing that will be painful and annoying to do. Damn, judging by my luck its almost certain that such an event will occur.

“Anyway, these are the nobles that you have to kill.”

Thinny handed me a whole long list of them.

The Guild of Shadows has requested you to prove yourself to slay a large number of nobles that are against them.

I looked at the list to find more than a hundred nobles on them alone with the names, address and relationship of their friends and families as well. If I'm thinking correctly, I am to kill thousands of people who oppose the power of the guild of Shadow.

“Do I have to kill all of them?” I asked in all seriousness.

“...”

There was a silent and then everyone, well in the guild of shadow side at least burst into laughter.

“You only have to kill the actual head of each family on minimum. As long as they send us a message that they completely summit to us, then they're off the list. The other names are a bonus if you want. Naturally you will not get paid for this.” Thinny said with a smile on this face.

For some reason I have bad feeling from the face. Its the kind of face similar to when Alexandra is about to torment me with one of her plans. Well it can't be that bad.

“Someone give me a map so I can finish this a bit early.” I said before heading for the exit to start this quest.

“The map will cost you though”

“Don't care, I have enough gold” I replied without thinking much about it.

“Hey, are you sure its fine to not tell her that?” asked someone.

“Of course. The leader has to be at least this competent else it won't be that fun.” said someone else, most likely the mastermind.

“Well we can easily observe her with hundreds of people chasing her at all times.”

“Nothing good can come from this though....”

“...”

Part 3 – Run!

As I got out of the hideout place thing of the guild of shadow which was almost literally hidden in plain sight, I noticed that there was something different in the air. The feeling I had changed completely the moment I stepped outside. I feel that people are staring at me.....with sparkles in their eyes.

This seems like a bad situation.

“She's there!”

“Catch her!”

“The gold is mine!”

Simultaneously around 5 people ran up to me with the intention to grab me.

“Dance of Water!”

Using the skill, I slipped through the people trying to catch me. However there were another 20 or so people behind them. The first 5 were just the quick one, most likely agility based players or just has a quick reaction to me appearing all of a sudden.

Making haste, I ran through the crowd which not many could keep up with me. However there were some high levelled players mixed in there as well which proved difficult for me. Using my skills I ran into a dark alley.

“Shit! You got to be joking me with”

It was a dead end. Well I could try to jump over that 3 metre wall but I think I have a better chance destroying it. I turned around to find two knights and a mage in the way of my escape. The sheer size of the knights were enough to make it so that I have a better chance jumping that wall then to get through them.

Oh......you're in a bad situation here. If you don't get out of here soon, you'll have to face the entire town. And trust me, you don't want to do that in your current state. There are roughly 300 users in this town. Over half of them are over level 200 and 10% of that; 30 are above level 300. You have your luck cut out of you today. Seeya, narrator out!

That voice again....if that voice is correct then I better get out of here quick!

I felt my right hand and there was only 2 more rings left. If things goes wrong then they may break and bad stuff will happen. I have to get in a secure position and recreate the stones I've used. But first I have to take care of this attack.

“Surrender now and we will spare your life.” said one of the knights.

The other knight sighed and added, “To think I will be forced to face a fair maiden.”

The mage in the back then commented, “This person is extremely dangerous. I don't think she can be classified as a maiden yet alone 'fair'”, the mage started casting a spell aimed at me.

I drew my sword and aimed it at the knights since the mage shouldn't be able to attack me through them...

“Let the wind blow.....Flower Bloom!”

The mage finished his spell and I noticed there was mana gathering under my feet.

“What the...”

Then flowers appeared.....

“Bind!”

And then they wrapped themselves on my legs binding them. I have a feeling that I won't be getting out of these any time soon.....

“Now we can grab and turn her in” said one of the knights in a bad mood.

The flowers continued and wrap around my body and went around my arms as well, preventing me from using my sword. Is it me or this skill is very similar to Viv's grow roots skill.

“Hurry it up! I can't maintain the spell for much longer!” shouted the mage.

It seems this spell drains quite a bit from the caster. Compared to Viv's spell, it was too cost inefficient and it was a lot weaker as well but....I can't move so my strength stat is useless right now.

In that case I should use magic, though not that powerful for many reasons.

Fire Formation ? Armour Form ? Fire Skin

“Fire Skin”

The area around my skin burnt through my clothes though I hope they don't get damaged thanks to this and went to the flowers that were binding me and burnt them enough that I could get out.

“Stone Edge!”

My body automatically moved to narrowly dodge the attack as the knight continued to attack me while the other knight stayed back to protect the mage whom had wasted all his mana and also because fighting two on one in this space is a bad idea.

“Burst Strike!”

I rammed my sword into the knight's shield pushing him back.

The knight braced himself and said, “You're right. This one is definitely not a fair maiden. To think someone would have such strength. No wonder why we are forced to hunt this person down.”

As I prepared to attack again, I heard a large number of voices and of course footsteps.

“I think she's here!”

“Find her!”

“I'll get the bounty!”

Shit! I have to get out of here, NOW!

I crushed the Earth stone and prepared to use a high levelled Earth spell.

Earth Stone has been broken

- Corruption will spread faster

- Able to use one high levelled Earth spell

Earth Formation ? Ground Form ? Rumble Factor ? Earthquake

I placed my hand on the ground with the spell formation and shouted, “EARTHQUAKE!!!”

Like the iconic pokemon move that screwed over my team more times than once, or the horrible disaster that has taken the lives of many people; the ground shook.

And it shook some more.

And then everything turned to hell around me. The buildings eventually broke down and the ground cracked apart.
