I activated my powers, dragon scales appearing on my fist and lightning gathering around me. With a roar, I leapt towards Ares, fists crackling with lightning as I activated my abilities. Ares smirked and raised his huge sword in front of him, pointing it at me.
I turned swiftly, ducking to the side of the sword and clocking him in the face. Ares grunted and swiped his sword at me. He was pretty slow and I ducked out of the way getting away from him for a second so I could plan.
Ares had long reach but if I could get inside of that reach he could do practically nothing against me, and close quarters was where I thrived in battles so it suited me perfectly fine. We started to circle each and faint and jab at each other.
With a breath I shot forward, a storm bolt directly in front of me, zooming towards him. His eyes narrowed and he kicked the ground getting out of the way of the bolt- and right into my path. I smiled and lashed out with my fist in quick succession, scoring multiple wounds in his side.
Just as I prepared to retreat, his foot crashed into my side sending me tumbling away. I rolled to a stop and tried to stand up, only to see his sword coming straight for my face. I rolled to the side and stood up, fists raised. Ares simply continued his onslaught, swiping at me faster and faster as I retreated, until his blade was a blur of motion.
I cursed inside, he must have a skill that let him build up momentum and get faster as time went on or something similar.
As I debated on what to do Ares started to spin, his sword getting ever faster as he did, turning himself into a whirlwind of blades and flesh. I realized that I didn’t have much time and I had to stop this before it could truly get started.
I dual casted storm bolt and felt my insides roil as pain stretched through me. It was extremely difficult to dual cast storm bolt because of its immense power. But I held on, gritting my teeth and letting them reach full maturity before firing them off like twin rockets.
They glowed brightly as they shot forward, light particles trailing behind them. If Ares saw them he didn’t reach, and they slammed into his tornado of blades, putting a halt to it and sending him tumbling out of it, sword clattering against the arena wall some hundred feet away.
Ares coughed out blood and grinned at me, fists raised. I smiled, did he think he could take me in a fist fight? That was where I thrived, there was no stopping me if I was in a one on one fist brawl with something, who did he think he was?
Then I realized. A god. He is literally a copy from a god. I should take him more seriously, he probably has some nasty tricks hidden under his sleeves that he hasn’t decided to use just yet.

As I readied myself Ares shot towards me like a cannonball. It far surpassed any of his previously shown speed and I knew he was using a skill. In just a few short seconds he reached me, sending a piledriver straight at me.
I weaved out of the way, punching at his neck as I avoided his attack. Ares' arm snapped up and grabbed my fist, absolutely halting all of my momentum. Before I even had time to think, he slammed his knee into my groin and threw me over his shoulder.
I hit the ground and rolled a couple of times, clenching my teeth in pain as I slowly stood up, only to be downed again by a punch to my gut. I wheezed, knees crumpling beneath me as I clutched at my stomach.
The beatdown started.
Ares continued to keep me on the backhand, forcing me to retreat and try to defend myself but absolutely nothing was working, he was just too fast for me to react to him. But no matter how hard he beat me down, I always came back up, trying to do everything I could to stop him or to injure him in any way.
When all started to feel lost as he took me down once again, I finally had an idea.
My cloak.
Cloak of the Storm Dragon Monarch: Cloak, Growth Item(F-Grade): This cloak was made from the hairs of the Storm Dragon Monarchs human form. It has the insight of the storms and the power of the dragons, but only holds a trace of its former power after being thrown into the void for a brief period of time, ripping all of its former prowess out of it. It longs to reach its former power and even one day surpass it, but is held back by its grade limit. This item will grow alongside you but will require the proper resources to advance a grade.
Effect One: While wearing this cloak, you will always be able to predict the weather for the next 3 days, and can even slightly influence it.
Effect Two: While wearing this cloak, you can call upon the power of the storm once a day, enhancing you FAR beyond your normal capabilities and making all damage you deal inflict lightning damage alongside of it.
Effect Three: When the hood of the cloak is up, all spells or abilities that can scan you fail if they are equal to or less than your grade, otherwise it is just more difficult. You will feel a tingling sensation whenever someone tries to scan you. You will be able to tell the direction the scan came from.
I roared and called upon the storm. Lightning cracked all around me and I grinned staring straight at Ares. He narrowed his eyes and reached out his hand, sword suddenly vanishing from its spot on the wall and appearing in his hands.
I simply grinned and dashed towards him, far faster than he had even been. I was so fast that instead of punching him in the head like I wanted to, I simply crashed face first into him, sending both of us tumbling on the ground.
I was the first one up and I proceeded to stomp and punch his prone form before he could react. He tried to stand up but I broke his nose with a stomp, sending his head back with a *crack!* I winced internally but continued on, beating him until he couldn’t move any more and stepping off of him, sending a couple of storm bolts at him just to make sure. I finally got a notification as his body crackled with lightning.
Congratulations! You have successfully beaten the god Ares! No one else will be able to fight him during the tutorial and you will be gifted an item from Ares personally very soon. The item's power will depend on how impressed Ares was with your fight.
