Chapter 56: The Trial of the Gods - Completion

Drake

I lay panting on the ground, struggling to catch my breath. It had been a close call with whatever that monster had been. And it was a monster, I was almost certain of it.

Just as I started to sit up, a flash of light appeared in front of me and out popped Kent, Minya, Brock, Emily and Plikt.

Layton jumped up, hugging Plikt furiously. “You left me all alone, how could you!”

“Plikt is sorry. Plikt was right next to queen when suddenly Plikt died! Plikt has no clue how it happened and is very sorry.” Plikt said, collapsing to his knees and bowing to Layton.

Yeah, their dynamic was interesting.

I waved at Kent. “Good to see you alive, you gave us all the freight of our lives.”

“Good to be alive.” He said with a laugh.

“True that.”

Congratulations Mortals! You have all passed the Trial of the Gods! - The Gods

The Gods are watching you.

The Gods have gifted you all a Growth Item!

[Error] you all have max growth items.

The Gods have gifted you all a Growth Weapon!

[Error] you all already have a quest for a Growth weapon.

The gods are scared at the power that you all already possess.

[Achievement Earned!] {Terror of Gods!} +25 to ALL stats. You deal double damage to beings that are a grade above you. If your opponent is more than a Grade above you, your damage is squared.

The gods suddenly have an idea.

[Achievement Earned!] {Blessed by the Gods} + 10 to ALL stats. Damage from demonic and corrupted sources is halved. You are resistant to all effects. Buffs are twice effective on you. Once per day, you can use the power of a god, (scales with your level) the power is random.

The Gods wave you goodbye.

The Gods have stopped watching you.

“...Wha?”

As I said that, a course of energy suddenly surged through my veins, filling me up like a balloon. My body felt stronger faster and just overall more powerful. My mind felt like a freakin’ MACHINE! It was moving so quickly and I processed everything more powerfully.

My senses also all had a massive jump, but all I could smell was everyone's smelly bodies. My eyes felt like how I imagined eagles eyes would be. I could see everything so clearly! It was amazing.

Just how massive of a boost had we gotten?

I pulled up my stat sheet for the first time in a while.

My stats had taken a HUGE jump, and I now had the achievements on my stat sheet.

Emily looked up from where she had been staring at her stats. “My stats took a MASSIVE jump.” She said in a slightly shaky voice.

“Why are you scared?”

“If this becomes normal, just how powerful will we become? We are literally in the first grade, and we are already scaring gods.” She pointed out.

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

I shivered slightly, but not in fear. I looked at it the opposite way. Just how powerful would we become? Would we rival gods? Destroy planets with our bare fists? Just the thought made a creepy grin inch over my face.

“... Drake? Are you okay?”

I snapped out of it. “Yeah I’m fine.”

I looked around, everyone else was staring at their stats and talking animatedly with each other, expressions of awe on their faces.

I understood how they felt, I was still in shock myself.

“So… What do we do now?” I asked everyone.

“Well… I think that the Night-Mare could use a little humbling.” Kent said, picking at his teeth lazily.

I smiled. “That might be a little too much for us right now.”

“Eh, you never know till you try.”

Emily butted in. “I think we should level up a bit before we take on that monstrosity of a final boss.”

“That’s a good point, we haven’t leveled up for a while now. How many days have we been down here?” I asked nobody in particular.

Brock scratching his head, face scrunching up in thought. “About 3?”

“What do you mean about?”

“Well I died and that's hard to keep track of.”

“...That’s fair.”

“Yeah, dying will do that to you.” Kent said with a short bark of laughter.

“Do what to you?”

He looked at me like an idiot. “Lose track of time?”

“Oh.”

He scoffed at me. “For being our leader, you sure are slow.”

“Says the man who has PTSD.”

“Don’t go there.” Kent said, voice lowering.

“Then don’t call me slow.”

He scoffed at me, turning away.

Emily grabbed him, turning him back to face me. “Don’t do this, you guys are friends make up.” She said, looking at us expectantly.

I rubbed the back of my head. “Sorry, that was a low blow.”

Kent just shook his head. “It’s fine, I am just high strung right now and not in my best mind.”

I sighed softly. “I feel you bro.”

“Aw, see? That's all you had to do.” Emily said, clasping her hands together and smiling at us.”

We both glared at her, only making her giggle at us before turning to talk to Minya about her new stats.

A screen popped in my vision, showing me a new message.

Now that you have completed the trial of the gods, you are all about to be sent to various corners of the island. Because this is the second time something like this has happened to you, you will all get your weapons back on teleportation.

Teleporting in 1 min…

I looked at the screen hovering in front of me and grinned.

I would finally get my swords back! It was just my weak weapons until we beat the Night-Mare, but it was better than fighting monsters with my fists until then.

I turned and looked at everyone, taking in their excited and nervous faces. “Well everybody, this is it for a bit. We should try to get back together again, but until then make sure you avoid the Night-Mare. Oh and keep an eye out for Storm, he is somewhere out there.”

They all nodded as a new message appeared.

Teleporting in 10 sec…

9…

8…

7…

6…

5…

I grabbed Kents hand, clasping it tightly. “See you later buddy.”

4…

He gripped it back. “You too, take care of yourself.”

3…

I grinned. “Don’t worry about me, worry about yourself.”

2…

A portal appeared in front of each of us, slowly pulling us in.

1…

I fell forward, falling into the portal.

Teleported!
