Drake
I was really impressed with all of these teenagers. Most of them were only a couple years younger than me but Emily and Kent were almost 8 years younger than me and they were the 2 most powerful out of our little group. I shook my head, I still didn’t understand how those 2 had gotten so powerful so quick. Just taking out a boss didn’t seem like enough but I guess I hadn’t gone up against one so I couldn’t talk.
Me, Layton, Minya and Brock were all standing on the edge of a steep drop off that overlooked the goblin fort. The goblins were currently running around and trying to figure out what to do with their leader gone. The lieutenants were trying to restore order but it was hopeless.. It was the perfect time to strike.
Minya leaned over to me and whispered. “You have blood magic right?” at my nod she continued. “That's what I thought, you should be the perfect counter to the shamans that are remaining, can you take them out?” At this she pointed over at a group of half a dozen or so of the magic wielding goblins sitting around a campfire.
I nodded. It would be a good way to test my new abilities. I had figured out how to use my vampiric touch spell on some goblins but I still hadn’t used bloody strength or blood siphon and this was the perfect place to get used to them.
“On the count of three.” Brock told us, then waited for a couple of seconds as the goblins under us rearranged themselves. “Three, two one, GO!” Brock yelled and we all leaped off the edge, landing on the fort wall a good 20 ft below us. I rolled to transfer the energy across my entire body, Layton just slid down the cliff edge, Minya used a double jump at the last second and Brock tripped and landed face-first on the wall, cracking it.
I was off like a shot now waiting to see how the others fared. I ran at the goblins full tilt and drew my swords, grinning maliciously. I activated bloody strength and my speed more than doubled as I zoomed forward catching the shamans by surprise.
I slashed out chopping one of the shamans arms and using vampiric touch. I felt my blood magic fill up a little but it was being drained at a much faster rate. I still had plenty of mana though. I chopped as many of the little jerks as I could before my blood magic got too low. At that point I cut off a goblins head and cast blood siphon.
All the blood around me in a 20 ft radius was sucked into me in seconds. Blood from currently living goblins or dead ones, the spell didn’t care. I did notice it took far more blood from the dead goblins than the live ones. Something to wonder about at a later date.
The goblins were completely surrounding me at this point and started to repeatedly blast me with what looked like bolts of pure mana. I growled and charged them with bloody strength and Siphon blood running full blast.
The goblins began to fall one by one until there was just a slightly larger goblin shaman remaining. It powered up a spell and shot it straight at me. If it weren’t for the enhanced reaction time bloody strength gave me then my head would have been sheared off by a mana blade. As it was though I ducked under it and buried my blades deep into the goblins chest vampiric touch going crazy on his huge wound.
I canceled bloody strength but kept blood siphon running to get all that I could out of the little jerks. My blood magic filled up and broke its current barrier sending pain rocking through my body but the blood had more room now and it kept refilling and breaking sending waves of pain rocking my body.

I nodded appreciatively. Those were some good gains and we were now a lot closer to Kent and Emily’s levels.
“I got to level 6. How about you all?” Brock spoke up questioning us.
“I got to level 5.” I told him.
“Me too.” Layton said, looking at her screen.
“Same here.” Minya said doing the same.
Curious, I also pulled up my screen. Adding 4 free body points to each of my body stats using them all. After some deliberation I split my free mind points into Intelligence and Wisdom. I held on to my spirit stats for now, until my stat sheet looked like this.

My stat sheet was looking really nice. I had even learned a new spell, blood slash. It sounded awesome.
I glanced up at the rest of my team. “Hey did you all get a new spell?” I asked them.
Minya tore her eyes away from her screen. “Yeah, I think we get a new one at level 5. Which means we will get another one at either level 10 or level 15.”
Layton nodded. “Makes sense, that's how most video games do it.”
Brock looked at her. “I know that a video game is the closest thing to this but we really shouldn’t think of this as a video game, Kent almost died here. That's real, I don’t want to die because I thought that I was safe because we are just in a game.” Brock half ranted, half pointed out to her.
“Hey! She was just making a comment! You don’t have to get all riled up!” Minya said standing up for Layton.
“No, it's okay, he is making really good points. I don't want to die here so we need to treat this like real life.” Layton said, looking us all in the eyes.
I finally spoke up. “This is real life now. Let's get moving, we still have a little ways to go to catch up to Kent and Brock.” They all nodded and we took off in the direction that the goblins had walked on enough to make a path.
We ran down the path for a good 30 minutes going over 10 miles. The speed at which we were running was ridiculous. The only one who lagged behind was Layton and after a little Brock just picked her up and ran with her in a princess carry. She was screaming for a while but after a few minutes she just huffed and sat there taking it.
We reached a small goblin camp and completely decimated it and continued on only earning about a level each, putting Brock at Emily's level. He turned back and went to meditate and figure out his skills so he would be prepared for level 10. We decided to stay and get a few more levels first.
We found another goblin camp and each reached level 7. Deciding it was enough we turned to head back when we heard a huge roar and the sound of screaming.
“What was that!?!” Minya exclaimed looking in the direction the sound had come from, the same direction our camp twas.
“I don’t know but we need to get back as quickly as we can," I told them.
They both agreed and we rushed back to our camp. but even with us going max speed and outpacing Layton it would take us at least a half hour. I was really worried. Just what was going on?
