Meet the system_The Apocalypse of Evolution

Like most apocalyptic events, this one started on a normal day. I was walking back to my house when the entire earth seemed to freeze for a second. Then it seemed to snap and everything jolted back to normal.

Mortals of the planet… Earth? Who would name a planet such a stupid name? Why not Alusia or Zanzaradad? Wait, I think I understand, I wouldn’t choose those names either. *ahem* Where was I? Oh yes! You are being welcomed to the universe of the Grand AI, Yours truly. And you will all be sent to the tutorial to learn all that you need to know. Most of you might die.

I jolted backwards. Who was that? The voice sounded way too cheerful when it told us that we were all going to die. “Hello, who are you?” This better not be me hallucinating about the war again. I looked around and there were people panicking, pinching themselves and looking at the sky.

Humans of the planet Earth. Congratulations! You have all been found to hold a very high resonance with evolution! You will all be donated 1 pint of blood from the creature or race you have the highest resonance with. This will only hurt a lot. You probably won’t die.

That wasn’t ominous at all or anything. I started to wonder just who this person really was. This seemed way too real to be another hallucination. It was at this point that I started to panic. “Deep breaths Kent, deep breaths.” I told myself. Whatever was going to happen I was going to go with it. All that mattered was that I survived whatever came at me. Suddenly the world around me spun.

Brock

I was sitting in the barracks thinking about my old army buddy Kent when a voice boomed out in a loud childlike voice.

Grand AI? Has the government finally made an AI powerful enough to take over the world? After a moment of consideration I ruled out the possibility. It was too far-fetched, even AI that could shop for you seemed like a big deal. There was no way this was a product of human labor. So that brought up the next question. If not the government, then who? Were all of those maniacs right? Were aliens invading? It was the most plausible idea. AI wait, did it say universe?

High resonance with evolution? I wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing but I just shrugged it off. I briefly thought about how Kent would respond to this news. “Not important right now, I need to focus on getting through this whole ordeal.” Picking up my rifle I prepared myself for the worst when the world went white.

Minya

I was at the track running the 400 meter dash in preparation for the next olympics when the world shook with power as a voice spoke.

Bring. It. On. That was my only thought as I waited for my world to change. I had read a lot of books about things like this happening so I was only a little surprised.

Oh? Are we special? Duh, of course I'm special. Have you seen these leg muscles? Those babies are among the best in the world. Everyone else? Meh. I sprinted for the finish when the world vanished.

There I was at a beauty pageant when the world changed. A voice spoke and told us that we might die or something. I wasn't really paying attention to it. I was busy glaring at my competition. Lara.

“What is that sound?” Lara suddenly screamed. I wasn’t fooled by her tricks. She was trying to make me mess up and let her win but that wasn’t going to happen. That sound came back and this time I heard it.

Who was this? Why was it here? I wanted to scream but then I realized this was just another of Laras schemes. I wouldn’t fall for her paltry tricks. Suddenly the world went white.

Emily

“I am so overworked.” I grumbled to myself. It was yet another long day of college and medicine was not an easy subject. Even with all of this though I still love medicine. Why did the professors have to give out so much homework?

Wow! You are interesting. I am going to give you a special offer. Would you like to learn magical healing?

“Are you talking to me?” I responded nervously. It's not every day some godlike being talks to you personally.

Of course who else would I be talking to?

“In answer to your question, HECK YES!” I would love to be able to use magic to heal people.

Huh, how odd…

“What?”

Oh sorry, it's nothing.

Suddenly the world spun into oblivion.

I was going about my day playing some games on my phone when I was suddenly whisked off to a blank white room. There were thousands of other people appearing every second but the room just grew.

Now, time to experiment on you guys.

With that very terrifying sentence, people started to explode in blood and gore and the screaming started, so much screaming. It was at this point that I was starting to realize that this just might be real.

Hey you stop screaming. You guys have a VERY interesting resonance with evolution congratulations!

The voice came again and it talked to us like we were rats it was experimenting on. Then again, I guess we kind of are. A person right next to me exploded and I was covered with blood and guts. It was too much. I started to dry heave when a presence seemed to focus on me.

Oh my, you are interesting. You get to live.

Inside I rejoiced at my good fortune.

It is not necessarily a good thing. Your chance of dying is about 50/50. The people here will die for a cause. However, after this you might die from falling out of a tree or something.

I didn’t care. I would live! Nothing else mattered to me at that moment in time. I was in my own little world of joy, but still shaking from the trauma.

The way the voice said that was very ominous and scared me all the way down into my bones. Just who was this frightening being?
