Layton
I opened my eyes. I was underneath a canopy of leaves, shadows danced erratically all around me. The last thing I remembered was that horse destroying our camp and then the horse snorted. Shortly thereafter he vanished. Now that I thought about it the same thing happened to Drake. Did it also happen to me?
I tried to figure out where I was. We hadn’t explored very much outside of our camp, only going a few miles in each direction. The island we were on was huge, with us only ever being able to the other side when we were up really high.
I sighed. The island was probably over a hundred miles in diameter. There was no hope of finding anyone anytime soon.
As I looked around I realized that my eyesight was so much better than how it used to be that it wasn’t even comparable. Everything seemed crisp and my eyes seemed to tell me the most important things to look at. Not only that but my sense of smell was like a dogs everything had such a distinct smell that even each of the leaves smelled different.
My sense of touch was even better. I could feel everything. The way my clothes rubbed slightly against my skin in the wind. The way that the air felt. Everything was just so much easier to understand. That wasn’t all. My sense of hearing was also drastically different. I could hear the slightest rustle, the gentlest gust of wind blowing the trees slightly to the left. It was all captured by my ears.
As I marveled at the way everything smelled, looked, felt and sounded. I heard a rustling of bushes behind me. I whipped my head around and saw a goblin with a spear creeping up behind me.
I grabbed for my bow before realizing with dread that it wasn’t there. I froze and the goblin cackled charging at me.
Goblin Spearman
Lvl:3
It was such a low level but I was terrified. I had never been without my friends or my bow. I didn’t know how to react.
The goblin stabbed at me and I dodged involuntarily, leaping to the side. The goblin looked confused before it turned to me and charged again. I tried to activate my alluring aura, but it wasn’t working. I remember the voice of the siren who had taught me about manipulation.
“Manipulation is all about being in control. If you don’t feel in control or feel insecure, your magic won’t work. The more calm or at peace you are, the more control you have over their minds.” My teacher had told me.
I steeled myself and breathed letting my fears slough off of me. I activated my aura again and this time I felt a sphere of pure power spread out of me covering everything in a 20 foot radius, with me smack dab in the middle.
The goblins face changed from glee to pure confusion. I willed my influence to make it feel like I was the most important person in its life.
The goblins face changed again, this time to what looked like determination. It was kind of adorable.

I turned to Plikt. “Hey buddy, how are you doing?” I asked hesitantly. Just a couple seconds ago he had been trying to kill me and now he was purely devoted to me. I didn’t really know how to feel.
Plikt bowed, dropping to a knee. “Plikt is delighted to serve his queen. What would the queen have Plikt do?” He asked so sincerely it made my heart tug. He was adorable!
I selected yes on his stat sheet and his stat sheet appeared before my eyes.

I was confused for a second. Why were his stats so low? Then I realized. He was only level 4! His stats were actually monstrous.
Plikt remained silent as I looked over his stat sheet. “Plikt I have something important to tell you.” I said abruptly, startling him.
He looked up eagerly. “What would Plikt’s queen have him do?” He asked, eyes open wide in anticipation.
I looked him in the eyes. “Plikt, I am lost and far away from all of my friends. I have two major favors to ask you. Say no if they are too much.” I told him seriously.
Plikt shook his head vigorously. “Plikt will never say no! Plikt will do anything for his queen no matter what it is or how hard the task may be! Plikt will save the queen!” He yelled out definitely.
I smiled. “Plikt since all of my friends are gone, can you be my friend? I would really appreciate it.” I asked, trying not to make my voice wobble. No matter what I said, I was still scared deep down.
Plikt stood up suddenly and put his hand to his heart. “Plikt will serve his queen! He will comfort her in times of need and make her laugh when she needs to!” He cried out determinedly.
I smiled again. I loved this little guy. “Now for the second favor.” Plikt became serious again. “I need you to protect me as well as you can. We are in dangerous territory and we must be vigilant. But I don’t have my bow so I can’t protect myself very well.” I told him, frowning slightly as I realized how bad the situation was. I told him what was going on with me right now.
He nodded. “Plikt will protect you. His bravery will never waver and his spirit will go through the most deadly fires before he would let his queen get injured.” He told me sincerely.
I smiled and patted his head. “You are such a good friend.” I told him. Then a question hit me. “Hey Plikt?” I asked him.
He looked up at me. “Yes, your wonderfulness?” He asked me, adding a royal tag to the back.
“Why do you refer to yourself in the third person?”
“Ah. That is because Plikt is not worthy to speak so freely around such an amazing queen.” He told me, winking. Since when could goblins wink? If I had known beforehand I would have been mentally prepared for a goblin to suddenly wink at me.
“Well Plikt? Shall we go and try to find the others? I asked him.
He nodded, looking in the same direction as me. “We must combine forces to take down the final boss.” He told me.
I was startled. “Oh? Have you met the final boss?” I asked him blurting out the question.
“Yes I have, it is dangerous. It teleports the goblins who take care of it during meal time,
“Let us be then.” I told him and we walked together into the woods.
