My victory was but a clean swipe of enemies that took its toll on me with the all too classic strong desire to fall asleep right after. Since my appraisal power and the crown said no enemies were left nearby, I believed it was wise to take a little nap to recover.
Thus, leaving nothing but death and destruction in my wake, I eventually lay flat on the floorboard of one of the boats, now filled with hundreds of dead dragonites all over the floor. The stench of dead bodies and blood was pungent, but my desire to sleep was even stronger, with it eventually winning the battle of will.
The dead dragonets had faces that reflected the pure terror of dying with great despair in their souls, as my magical power was enough to cause such a reaction. Still, I felt next to nothing, even when lying next to hundreds of corpses. I felt no empathy or emotion.
The sun soon began to fall over the horizon as the fights had taken the entire day without me even noticing, not that I could see the beautiful sunset anyway as my closed eyes only managed to see the orange light from the sun as it went below the horizon.
It doesn't take long for my mind to wander into its own world as I pass out on the ship's floor, imagining a dream. My soul suddenly found itself floating amid the stars, just another piece of the endless void floating through space as millions of stars die and many more are born.
"You owe me." I can hear this phrase ever so slightly as I explore the infinite void of space, traveling at speeds that feel surreal, probably faster than the speed of light. The voice that continues to say 'You owe me' doesn't stop whispering the entire time, and it sounds like it grows stronger every time.
The shape of my soul now was entirely that of Yoimiya's, with no trace of my previous self left; I guess some things fix themselves. It was about time I let go of my past anyway. It wasn't like I could do much soon anyway; it was better to focus on the present than the long, long future ahead.
"Daughter of Andromeda! You owe me!" The voice finally sounds right next to me as my body suddenly halts in the presence of a massive dark dragon that appears to be a few miles away. I couldn't respond to the dragon right away as I tried to make sense of its shape and body textures. It looked like a weird, energy-shaped object.
"Do I know you?" I ask the dragon, who responds right away with anger in its voice. "I am the sovereign dragon of darkness, and you seem to be a daughter of Andromeda, which can only mean you're meant to be my vessel." A dragon's vessel, uh? I guess I was too tired, and imagining things made sense since I fought till I ran out of energy.
"What do I owe you?" Now, I don't know what compelled me to ask the dragon about this, but it soon responded with its demand, which was quite extensive. "I seek but the addition of everything that has ever existed into my realm; you're meant to be my vessel to absorb your universe into me to feed and serve me in perpetuity."
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"Why would you want everything to be inside your realm?" I ask the dragon right away as it stares at me with its infinitely empty eyes devoid of compassion or love. "Have you ever heard of the tale of the dark sovering dragon of the abyss?" The dragon asks me, and I respond by moving my head side to side, signaling a no.
The surroundings soon change at the command of the dragon, who transports us into a strange realm of existence where there are millions of little balls and other dragons playing around some sort of fucked up game of planetary chess using planets as chess pieces.
"A long time ago, way before Witch and Godkind existed, dragons walked the multiverses walking around as the sole rulers over interdimensional power." The scene changes to some sort of old-style classroom full of young, smaller dragons all playing around and creating their planetary systems, with the exception of one dragon, the dark one.
"Dragon severings controlled their elements and magical powers far beyond what was thought possible except for one dragon, me. I was looked down upon for lacking the creative powers of the rest of my kind, leading me to create my own realm."
The scene slowly changes into the familiar dark universe I was too accustomed to seeing. Still, in an instant, this universe shifts into a light-covered one, which looked quite ugly, in my opinion, with light replacing dark matter all around.
"All universes and multiverses used to look like this, a dreadful universe covered in light and noise. I fixed that on my universes, of course. Still, as the other covering dragons pass away from old age and lack of true natural stabilization, I have been taking over all universes and stabilizing them with my power."
"Many civilizations call my power 'Dark matter,' a substance that keeps the fabric of reality running even if nobody else but I can directly interact with it, and while my dark power is enough to extend the lifespan of the millions of multiverses, the light in those universes will eventually pass away, and an eternal cold will come to end everything leaving behind nothing but a void devoid of life."
"So you're saying you're god?" I ask the dragon, who doesn't give me a straight answer back. "I am not a god. I am a dragon, greater than a god or any other creature."
Something didn't make sense in the wake of everything that the dragon said; if this thing was so powerful, it basically powered every single other multiverse imaginable, including universes with ultra-powerful beings like the literal concept of truth, then how come the dragon needed my help to take over my universe?
"Why is it you need me? If you're so powerful, why do you need the help of a puny witch like me?" The dragon laughs as I say this while looking at me with even more interest now that I have revealed my capable, quick-thinking process and logic.
"Because I am growing old and will soon pass away, I need a successor to keep my dark realm running after I am gone. A daughter of Andromeda is the closest thing to a sovereign dragon, so you're my only choice for viable vessels."
Even with this explanation, I still had many doubts and questions that I did not hesitate to throw back at the dragon, who was more than happy to listen to me. "How do I know you're not tricking me into doing something bad? Your abyssal power seems to only want death and destruction after all."
"It is not death but absorption my power seeks. Everything you destroy with the power you take from me eventually ends up inside me. Destroying the universe, therefore, will end up with a new one reconstructing inside my realm; it is a small price to pay for salvation."
"I don't know about you, but I think a universe that can survive for billions of years is good enough; why do you want it to run forever?"
"Because life should never end. Isn't it sad to let all multiverses die? At least I can provide everyone with eternal salvation. As long as my realm runs, everything will continue to exist forever."
